Funny thing, I first heard Katie Armiger back in 2007 before she was a household name and actually helped with her promotion back when she was being promoted through Grassroots Promotions/Quarterback Records out of Nashville. I knew when I heard her voice back then that it wasn't going to be long before I heard it from a bigger stage and a couple of weeks ago, I heard it coming from the biggest stage in country music, the Grand Ole Opry, when she made her debut. What a great moment!
I had the pleasure of seeing Katie perform for the first time in September and was completely blown away not only by her strong vocals but with the passion she puts into her performance so I knew I could expect no less from her cd and I was right. "Confessions of a Nice Girl" makes the transition from young, inexperienced wannabe to a passionate, mature songstress obvious. There are a few cutesy tracks but for the most part, this cd is about experience, life and situation. The cd is fantastic and well put together.
The lead in single, "Leaving Home" was written as a letter to Katie's parents when she made the decision to leave home and pursue her dreams of being a country singer in Nashville. The song was a hit on radio as well as GAC and CMT with her video constantly in the top 20 for several weeks. I can only imagine the pride welling in her heart and in her parents hearts as she stood on the Opry stage last month in that historic circle where so many legends have stood before her and performed this song. I know I was proud for her. She's had a couple of other singles off the cd that have been doing well on GAC and CMT, the Taylor Swift reminiscent "The Best Song Ever" and the indecisive question of "I Do But Do I". Personally, my favorite track is "Scream". I hope this one is released as a single and really blows up the charts. It's a great song. The majority of this cd is more adult, more contemporary and more emotional. Katie's vocals are pure and deep, strong but yet vulnerable at the same time.
The cd is worth the purchase and worth the listen. Get it, got it, love it.

I agree with all of this! I remember her first single to radio, "17 in Abilene" about 4 years ago and have been waiting for her star to rise. It's happening!! "Scream" is one of two favorites. Listen to the song co-wrote with Rebecca Lynn Howard called "That's Why".
