Film, TV, Broadway and recording star Sherrie Austin returns to Country music today with her first new music in 8 years, the full-length album, CIRCUS GIRL.

CIRCUS GIRL includes the holiday duet, “Naughty or Nice,” (with songwriter/ artist Shane Stevens, writer of Lady Antebellum’s “American Honey”). The track is a fun, infectious holiday song that cheekily details the naughty (nice?) pleasures of the holiday season. The new music video features Austin and Stevens – best friends in real life – in separate hemispheres of the globe, experiencing very different types of Christmases. GAC will also be giving “Naughty or Nice,” the sneak peek treatment during today’s episode of GAC On the Streets, running throughout the day. CIRCUS GIRL is featured on MSN’s Listening Booth today at: http://music.msn.com/music/listeningbooth/

The Australian-born ACM nominee and Golden Guitar Award winner previously enjoyed success on the Country charts with her hits, “Streets of Heaven,” “Never Been Kissed,” and “Lucky in Love,” during her days on Arista Nashville and Broken Bow Records. Most recently, Austin earned rave reviews for her starring roles on another type of stage - the New York Musical Theatre Festival’s production of Bonnie & Clyde and the Broadway productions of Ring Of Fire- The Johnny Cash Musical Show and Warrior. Returning to Nashville in 2006, Austin has made a name for herself as an in-demand songwriter, penning songs for Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw and George Strait.

It is, in fact, Austin’s stint as a career songwriter helped inspire many of the songs on CIRCUS GIRL. The collection is a female-empowerment record, from “Friday Night Girls,” the anthem for the brokenhearted single gals cutting loose and letting their hair down, to the raw, spunky, honest sensuality of “Just Wanna Love You Tonite,” to the feisty, matter-of-fact kiss-off track, “Get Your Leaving Done.” The album is a series of stories interpreted by a strong woman, about women, and for women, and Austin feels it’s something her female fans have been clamoring for, for quite some time.

“The last few years I had been complaining about that fact that there weren’t any females speaking to women above the age of 30, so I started thinking about how I was writing my songs and came up with the idea for “Friday Night Girls” …I wanted to write a three minute song with every “Sex and the City” episode that had ever existed, so I did. I quickly noticed that the women in my audiences loved it and so I switched my songwriting focus for a while to concentrate on that audience, who are my peers, to speak to them,” says Austin.

At the urging of her fans, Austin decided to enter the recording “big top” once again. This time she found that a process that once had frustrated her is now exciting her again. “It stopped being fun for me, making records and touring, which is why I focused on writing, but this is fun again. I have freedom now that I never had before. I’m making music for my fans, my music,” she says.

Additionally, Austin returns this week to the small screen – as a cast member of the 2nd season of Sundance Channel’s reality documentary series, “Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys.” The show pairs Austin with her gay best friend, songwriter Shane Stevens (Lady Antebellum's “American Honey”) and documents their lives as songwriters and artists on Music Row in Nashville. In fact, the premiere episode will document the making of the music video for Austin and Steven’s holiday duet, “Naughty or Nice,” when it airs this Friday, November 18th at 9 pm ET.
