AMERICAN LEGACY MUSIC TOUR TEAMS UP WITH AMVETS TO HONOR, HELP VETERANS
Official charity partner AMVETS takes tour to the next level: helping homeless vets in seven states
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Rasberry Producer Group, LLC, has named AMVETS as the official charity partner for the American Legacy Tour, a live music variety show that will visit 10 cities in 10 days and pay tribute to U.S. veterans.
Tickets are on sale now for the two-hour show, starring Country Music icon Ronnie McDowell and featuring award-winning artists who will perform hit songs from genres including Classic and Outlaw Country, Trop Rock, Motown and Gospel. The tour, which is open to the public, is produced by Rasberry Producer Group with proud corporate sponsor American National Insurance Company -- and now includes AMVETS as the official charity partner.
“The tour is about delivering some of the best entertainment value possible with one heck of a two-hour show that pays tribute to our heroes at home,” said Danny Rasberry, CEO of Rasberry Production Group. “We also wanted to give something back to veterans in all 10 cities on the tour, which is a big job -- so we’re really excited to have AMVETS on board as our charity partner to see that it gets done.”
A portion of the proceeds from the tour - raised through commemorative merchandise sales and other locally tailored efforts at each show - will be presented to AMVETS on November 14 for the express purpose of helping veterans at the local level in support of the Homeless Veterans Outreach Initiative led by U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki.
AMVETS announced it will directly oversee the effort to help the homeless veterans in each of the tour’s 10 cities. With 100 percent of the funds donated going to support homeless veterans, AMVETS will ensure aid is provided to address the greatest needs of each community.
“Not one man or woman who has served and sacrificed for their country should ever go without a safe place to call home,” said AMVETS Communications Director, Andrew Keirn. “AMVETS is proud to be partnering with the American Legacy Tour and helping bring aid to the veteran community. These live shows, and the proceeds they earn, will be used to transform the lives of these homeless heroes. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of.”
The tour opens in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 4, 2013, and will continue across Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee -- with a special Veteran’s Day show in Marion, Indiana, on November 11, and a finale in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 13.
Performers - some veterans themselves - include McDowell and Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band members Nadirah Shakoor and Doyle Grisham and former Coral Reefer saxophonist Amy Lee; Gospel Music’s Florida Boys, Mailboat Records artist Matt Hoggatt, and Country Music’s Coley McCabe, Thom Shepherd and Lee Gibson. Collectively, these acts have recorded music on more than 50 million records sold worldwide.
