Norman Blake has graced countless notable recordings with his unique guitar style, character, and mastery, influencing musicians worldwide. Even as his career in studio work and road life slowed, Blake's creativity and playing continued to flourish. Over the course of a year, John Carter Cash transported recording equipment from The Cash Cabin Studio to the Blakes' ageless wooden home, capturing music in an environment steeped in history and natural beauty.John Carter shared, “Norman Blake is one of the most important remaining living connections to the soul of traditional music. Jamie Hartford's involvement connects the project's legacy with his father, John Hartford, who recorded and performed with Norman Blake for many years.

John Carter has produced hundreds of recordings for dozens of artists within the past 25 years, including Loretta Lynn, Elvis Costello, Jamey Johnson, Chris Cornell, George Jones, Jewel, Mavis Staples, Brooks & Dunn, Sheryl Crow, Kris Kristofferson, Norman and Nancy Blake, Marty Stuart, Carrie Underwood, Tanya Tucker, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Rosanne Cash, John Cowan, Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell, Carlene Carter, Reba McEntire, and John Prine. In total, he has been a producer on five Grammy Award-winning records. The grandson of Maybelle Carter and the only son from the marriage of John R Cash and June Carter Cash, he preserves the family legacy and is a caretaker to the heritage of his musical ancestors. John Carter also owns and operates Cash Cabin Enterprises, LLC in Hendersonville, TN.
