DARIUS RUCKER HOSTS NINTH ANNUAL “DARIUS AND FRIENDS” BENEFIT CONCERT & GOLF TOURNAMENT SUPPORTING ST. JUDE - RAISES $400K DURING 2 DAY EVENT

Almost a decade after first pledging his support to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® and the thousands of children the healthcare institution treats, music superstar Darius Rucker hosted his sold-out ninth annual “Darius and Friends” benefit concert on Monday night followed by his traditional golf tournament on Tuesday morning. This year’s concert, auction and golf tournament alone raised $404,000 for St. Jude, breaking the previous year’s record and bringing the cumulative total raised for all years to $1.6 million.

"As a parent I can’t imagine the emotional toll hearing your child has cancer takes, not to mention the financial stress,” said Rucker. “The support families with a child facing life-threating illness receive from St. Jude is just incredible. I’m proud to support St. Jude and I’m so grateful to all our friends who came out and donated their time to be on the show."

With thousands descending on Music City for 2018’s CMA Fest, the benefit concert has become an unofficial kick off to the week’s festivities. For its second year at the historic Ryman Auditorium, Rucker welcomed surprise guests Patrick Davis, Edwin McCain, A.J. McClean of the Backstreet Boys and Brad Paisley, along with stars Trace Adkins, Lauren Alaina, Bobby Bones, Ashley McBryde and Rachel Wammack and more than 2,400 fans to the sold-out event.

Rucker, the evening’s host and MC, kicked things off with a performance of “Alright” followed by his most recent No. 1 “For The First Time” before introducing singer/songwriter Lauren Alaina who kicked things off with “Road Less Traveled,” her first No. 1, followed by current hit "Doin' Fine" and her second No. 1, “What Ifs.”

Alaina was followed by iHeartMedia’s award-winning nationally syndicated radio host, Bobby Bones. He had the crowd in hysterics with his comical Bobby Bones and The Raging Idiots tune "Chick-Fil-A (...But It's Sunday)." He was then joined on stage by Rucker for a rousing cover of the Beastie Boys’ classic “Fight for Your Right.”

To the delight of attendees, “Darius and Friends” has become known for its surprise guests and this year was no exception. The first surprise of the evening came with Rucker introducing the Backstreet Boys’ A.J. McLean to roaring screams of approval. McClean launched into Backstreet Boys’ hit “I Want It That Way” with support from the crowd singing every word of the chorus.

Rucker then returned for the second of three sets throughout the evening; this time performing his hits “Hands On Me” and “Radio” before introducing RCA Nashville newcomer Rachel Wammack. The soulful songstress wowed the crowd with “No Love” and “Damage” off her debut EP.

Rucker described the evening’s next performer as one of his “favorite voices in country music and just an all-round great dude” before introducing country star and actor Trace Adkins, who delivered a crowd-pleasing performance of his hits “Ladies Love Country Boys” and “Just Fishin’.” “In my opinion there is no better cause than St. Jude,” Adkins said. “Children are innocent and they don’t deserve anything bad that happens to them. If something bad happens to me, I probably did something to deserve it,” Adkins added, drawing laughs form the crowd.

Rucker then returned with hits “Homegrown Honey” and "If I Told You" before introducing Edwin McCain as the night’s second surprise guest, who took the stage performing his hit “I’ll Be.” McCain’s soaring vocals could hardly be heard over the audience singing along to every word. He followed up the hit song with covers of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” and Seal’s “Crazy.”

Rucker returned to join both McCain and fellow South Carolina singer/songwriter Patrick Davis for a funky cover of Bill Wither’s “Use Me” before bringing out breakout country singer/songwriter Ashley McBryde, who immediately captured the rapt crowd’s attention with Top-30-and-climbing single “Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega.”

“Gosh it is good to be here at the Ryman. It never gets old being here,” she shared before playing her infectious “American Scandal” off debut album Girl Going Nowhere. McBryde told stories from her time at St. Jude last December and detailed the patients she met there, before declaring “Country Music has been there over 40 years for St. Jude and we will be there every single time.” An emotional highlight of the evening followed, with her mesmerizing take on Cyndi Lauper’s hit “Time After Time” drawing a standing ovation from the audience.

“He’s not my friend, he’s not my buddy, he’s my brother,” Rucker said before introducing the final performer and surprise guest, country music superstar Brad Paisley. Rucker joined Paisley for his first number and struck a somber note with a duet of Paisley’s hit “Letter To Me,” although the notoriously comical Paisley couldn't resist getting a few jokes in throughout the song, teasing Rucker with "You dated Bridget too?"

Rucker and Paisley have a long history as duet partners, having toured together in 2010. Paisley also invited Rucker to join the Opry nearly six years ago. They’ve also teamed up several times over the years for different charitable causes including a fundraiser hosted by Paisley's wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley just the night before.

Paisley then performed fan favorite “Ticks” before Rucker returned to join him for a boisterous duet of Paisley’s hit “Alcohol” and bringing the crowd to their feet with a rocking cover of Prince classic “Purple Rain.”

The crowd was not ready for the night to end and Rucker obliged with an encore of his Hootie & the Blowfish hit, “I Only Want to Be with You.”

The evening ended, as has become tradition, with a performance of Rucker’s hit “Wagon Wheel,” with Adkins and McBryde returning to the stage to join Rucker and the crowd for a raucous singalong.

The event has sold out year after year, raising funds through concert ticket sales, a silent auction and annual golf tournament, hosted by the free-swinging Rucker and his band. Friends performing with Rucker in the past have included Brooks & Dunn, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Dan + Shay, Radney Foster, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum, John Oates of legendary pop duo Hall & Oates, Michael Ray, Kenny Rogers and many more.

Rucker, a longtime philanthropist over his more than two decades as a hit-maker and singer-songwriter in the music industry, was recently named the ACM Gary Haber Lifting Lives Award winner for his devotion to improving lives through the power of music. He made a commitment to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® after touring the campus in 2008. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Unlike any other hospital, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from individual contributions. Events like this help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

The event is made possible through the support of generous sponsors CDW Healthcare, Intel, Pitney Bowles, Hendrix Enterprises, Arrow Electronics, AO Smith, AMD, Tom Shepherd’s Family Auto Group and Hutton Hotel.

Rucker recently achieved his ninth career No. 1 on the country charts with “For The First Time” and will co-headline the Summer Plays On Tour this summer with Lady Antebellum before heading overseas to the United Kingdom for a string of shows this fall.

CRAIG CAMPBELL SCORES WITH DAY OF STAR-STUDDED TAILGATE FUN AT 6TH ANNUAL CELEBRITY CORNHOLE CHALLENGE

COUNTRY HITMAKERS COMPETE WITH FANS TO BENEFIT FIGHT CRC

HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED SEE YOU TRY EP OUT FRIDAY (6/8)

Red Bow Records Country star CRAIG CAMPBELL put his big-hearted values on display at yesterday’s 6TH ANNUAL CELEBRITY CORNHOLE CHALLENGE, hosting a star-studded afternoon of friendly competition to benefit Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC).

Taking place outside Nashville’s City Winery, the fun-filled day scored with plenty of cornhole action – a bag-toss game popular with tailgaters all around the nation – plus a celebrity cast which featured Campbell and his wife Mindy, Russell Dickerson, Lindsay Ell, Walker Hayes, Brett Kissel, NASCAR driver Scott Lagasse, Jr., LOCASH, Tegan Marie, Morgan Mills, Jerrod Niemann, Taylor Phillips, Dee Jay Silver, The Cadillac Three and Brett Young.

Fans bid for the chance to play against the stars in tournament fashion, with Craig Campbell ultimately taking home first place.

Tonight (6/6), Campbell will follow up at City Winery with the One Million Strong Dinner gala, where the total amount raised from this year’s event will be officially revealed. Having lost his father to colorectal cancer at 11 years old, the dedicated family man is one of FIGHT CRC’s national spokespersons, and has previously raised more than $300,000 for the cause.

But with Nashville’s beloved CMA Music Fest getting underway, Campbell’s big week is just getting started.

Tomorrow, June 7, Campbell will celebrate Throwback Thursday at his old haunt The Stage on Nashville’s Lower Broadway – the same honky tonk where he was discovered years earlier. Starting at 2 p.m. CT, the traditionally-minded star will deliver a set of ‘90s Country favorites for a show billed as Karaoke With Craig. Then at 9 p.m. CT he’ll bring out his own hits with a primetime set on the massive Cracker Barrel Country Roads Stage at Ascend Amphitheater.

On Friday, June 8, Campbell will release his highly-anticipated SEE YOU TRY EP – seven diverse tracks featuring his flirtatious chart-riser “See You Try” and two versions of the critically-acclaimed “Outskirts of Heaven.”

And finally on Sunday, June 10, he’ll finish up as the last artist to perform on the attention grabbing Chevy Riverfront Stage. That hit-filled set will get underway at 4:45 p.m. CT, and all of Campbell’s CMA Music Fest concert appearances are free and open to the public.

The week marks the beginning of a big summer for the fan favorite, who plans to headline select dates across North America following a standout 2017 which included Luke Bryan’s HUNTIN', FISHIN' AND LOVIN' EVERY DAY Tour.

CRAIG CAMPBELL REVEALS ALL-STAR LINEUP FOR 6TH ANNUAL CELEBRITY CORNHOLE CHALLENGE

BIG NAMES LOOKING TO SCORE IN SUPPORT OF
FIGHT COLORECTAL CANCER ON JUNE 5

“SEE YOU TRY” HIT MAKER HAS HELPED RAISE MORE THAN $300K TO DATE

Craig Campbell is proud to announce the official lineup of his 6th Annual Celebrity Cornhold Challenge, with some of the biggest names in country and beyond set for good times and a good cause.

Taking place at Nashville’s City Winery on June 5, this year’s event will feature Craig and his wife Mindy, as well as Russell Dickerson, Lindsay Ell, Walker Hayes, Brett Kissel, Nascar driver Scott Lagasse Jr, LoCash's Chris Lucas and Preston Brust, Jerrod Niemann, Taylor Phillips, Dee Jay Silver, Tegan Marie, The Cadillac Three's Jaren Johnston and Kelby Ray and Brett Young.

The One Million Strong Benefit – a gala dinner, ceremony and singer-songwriter round with Campbell – at City Winery will follow on June 6, where the final tally of funds raised for Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC) will be revealed. Last year’s combined events raised more than $180,000, as fans bid for the chance to compete in the tournament against the stars themselves, and dinner attendees bid on auction items like a backyard BBQ with Campbell and a Nascar experience with Scott Lagasse, Jr., another Fight CRC spokesman.

Campbell is a national spokesperson for Fight CRC – a nonprofit organization working to increase awareness, education, advocacy and research for colorectal cancer, the second-leading cause of cancer deaths among adults in the U.S. The hit maker lost his father to the disease when he was just 11 years old. As Fight CRC’s first national spokesman, Campbell has raised more than $300,000 by co-hosting the organization’s One Million Strong benefit and his celebrity cornhole challenge.

The Georgia native will be in headlines once again on June 8, this time for releasing his highly-anticipated See You Try EP – seven diverse tracks featuring his flirtatious chart-riser “See You Try” and two versions of the critically acclaimed “Outskirts of Heaven.” It’s Campbell’s first new collection of tunes in five years, and arrives after a standout 2017 which included Luke Bryan’s Huntin', Fishin' And Lovin' Every Day Tour.

Campbell will headline select dates across North America throughout the summer of 2018.

RICKY SKAGGS SET TO PERFORM AT NISSAN STADIUM DURING 2018 CMA MUSIC FEST

Fifteen-time GRAMMY® Award-winning music legend Ricky Skaggs is bringing his Country hits front-and-center at the 2018 CMA Music Fest in Nashville. Skaggs and his band, Kentucky Thunder, will appear on the Nightly Concerts at Nissan Stadium stage on Sunday, June 10, where he'll perform many of the hit songs that made him famous.

"When I found out that I'm gonna be performing at CMA Music Fest this year, I was SO happy," notes Skaggs. "I thought, WOW! Getting to play some fiery Bluegrass music in that huge stadium, in front of thousands of young Country music fans, this oughta be killer! But then as I read on I realized the CMA wants me to play my old Country hits from the 80's and 90's with a full Country band with drums, piano, pedal steel guitar, twin fiddles, and my red electric guitar with my amp cranked up! Sounds to me like they want some old school Country music. I'm really excited about that, but surely I can find a way to play some of that fiery Bluegrass too!"

Concertgoers can expect to hear Skaggs tear through many of his chart-topping songs including "Highway 40 Blues," "Honey (Open That Door)," "Heartbroke," "Country Boy," and "Uncle Pen," among others.

#CMAFEST2018- 20 TIPS FOR CMAFEST FIRST TIMERS OR JUST THOSE WHO NEED A REFRESHER

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us once again and no, I don't mean Christmas. It's almost CMA Fest! If you've never been to CMA Fest or you haven't been in awhile, you are in for a great time so here are a few tips to help you prepare from someone who's been a few times:

Tip #1: Pre-plan, be aware and know what you want to do. There's a lot to miss if you don't. This is 4 days of country music madness, a country fan's 5 star restaurant with lots of choices on the menu. Don't spend your time in Nashville figuring out what to do, figure that out before you get there. Don't plan on getting a last minute hotel either. Hotels usually start about $200 a night minimum for the week and can book up a year in advance. If you're reading this today, you should already have your hotel booked and your airline tickets confirmed otherwise you're gonna be paying a no so pretty penny. Penny heck, try an ungodly amount of dollars!

Tip #2: Bring lots of film, a HUGE memory card or extra memory cards and extra camera batteries. You WILL Need them. Keep your camera with you at ALL times, celebrities are everywhere, on the street, in restaurants, grocery stores and even public restrooms (but I don't recommend asking for a photo while in there. LOL). Don't forget your phone/camera chargers! I actually recommend purchasing a power station by Mophie or PNY for your smart phone which is basically like having a brand new battery. Don't buy a super cheap one though, it won't give you much of a recharge.

Tip #3: Bring comfortable shoes with thick socks if you're gonna wear sneakers. Heels may look cute but you'll be cursing and walking awkwardly after a couple of hours. Of course boots are always acceptable. There is a TON of walking. I mean MILES of walking on HOT pavement.

Tip #4: KEEP HYDRATED. By hydrated, I mean water, water and more water. Nashville is hotter than Satan's swamp crotch in the summer, sometimes reaching temps of 100 degrees and is known for it's drenching humidity. Keep as much water near you as possible. You are not only in the heat, you're walking A LOT and will be also smack in the middle of more people than you ever care to see again in one place in your life and that gets HOT. (also stinky, but we're not talking about that right now.) Beer is great, but think WATER WATER and MORE WATER or you will find yourself fainting and laying smack on the sidewalk while people point at you and walk around you snickering. Saw it happen last year and paramedics may have a hard time getting to you because of the crowds. Just prepare yourself. Some deodorant companies like Ban make cooling cloths now that will not only cool you off but help with the stink!

Tip #5: Bring your own sharpie and what you want signed, you never know who you'll see or where. Again, you may see a celebrity in a restroom, let's not pull out the sharpie there, OK?

Tip #6: Be respectful of those around you, even those overzealous obsessed fans who push and shove to get to their "best friend" celebrity. Let them be the ones to look like an ass, not you. Just take a deep breath, step back and let 'em go. Manners, people, manners. They don't fall by the wayside just because it's CMA Fest.

Tip #7: If you see a celebrity with their family or in a "private moment" outside of the CMA madness, please leave them alone. There are places and times to approach and fawn all over them, private moments are not those times. Be mindful of their privacy. Look for them later at an autograph signing event where it's appropriate. Remember that for a lot of these artists, this may be the only week they're home during a tour so their family time is limited and is special to them. Let them have it. Don't be her.

Tip #8: Keep your eyes and ears open. You NEVER know who or what you'll see during the week. Not everyone there is in the music industry, there are also a lot of actors and actresses in town who love country music and will be wandering around as well as maybe sports celebrities. You never know. Also listen to the music coming from the honky tonks and side stages as you walk around, you may stumble upon a last minute jam session or a unscheduled surprise performance by someone you hadn't planned on seeing. CMA Fest is chock full of surprise goodness.

Tip #9: Be aware of your surroundings. While Nashville is amazing, it's also dangerous if you're in the wrong place. Don't walk alone in unknown areas or at all if you can help it, use the buddy system, especially walking to and from your parking area and between venues. Don't take shortcuts you don't know and if someone is  following you, make sure you move to a populated area. Don't be afraid to scream or be loud if you feel threatened. Keep your cell phone with you and ready to dial 911 if needed.

Tip #11: Have FUN. Don't get bogged down with things, let loose and enjoy all that CMA Fest has to offer. Don't plan everything, enjoy some spontaneity as you never know what or who you may see or what you'll miss. Keep your eyes and ears open to everything around you, listen to people talking and get to know people, you may find out about a private party you can schmooze your way in to or even get invited to if you're talking to the right people. You may also have a celebrity sighting on the street or in a bar, who knows!

Tip #12: If you happen to be invited to an artist's special private party, a "hush hush" event or something you were allowed to attend as a specifically invited guest, leave as small a footprint as possible when you leave. Be gracious, be appreciative and if there is a merch table, purchase something to support the artist or leave a tip in the tip jar. Don't monopolize the artist's time, don't ask for them to sign 40 items or call your grandma Ethel. Get your autograph or photo, thank them for their kindness and for their music and be on your way. The smaller your footprint, the bigger your chance of being invited back.

Tip #12: Don't focus all your time on the major artists, this is the best time to experience what you don't hear on the radio, to meet and say hello to those new artists who are just as good if not better. Give the smaller shows your attention, you may find you actually enjoy them even more than the large shows. They're more personal, you can get closer and even meet the artist. Show them your support!

Tip #13: Explore the city and the surrounding suburb areas. Check out the Parthenon, the Hermitage, Music Row, do the Nashville TV show location tour, go see a show at the Bluebird, eat lunch at the Loveless Cafe, shop at Opry Mills Mall, the list goes on and on of amazing places to see outside of the boundaries of CMA Fest. Go pay your respects to artists who have passed such as Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, George Jones and Little Jimmy Dickens. The cemetery offices have maps to where these artists are buried and are more than happy to give you one. They're free, all you have to do is ask. It may seem morbid but you'd be surprised how interesting it is and how emotional it can be if you're a huge fan of the history of country music. Just a note, don't get stuck in an elevator in a mauseoleum and wind up walking down a dark stairwell into the crematory by mistake ... don't ask, just trust me. Always take the stairs in these places. LOL!

Here are a few of the cemeteries and who you can find resting there

WOODLAWN MEMORIAL PARK -   660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204

George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Paycheck, Jerry Reed, Van Stephenson, JD Sumner, Marty Robbins, Red Foley, Porter Wagoner, Eddie Arnold, Hattie Louise Bess ("Tootsie" of Tootsie's Orchid Lounge), Webb Pierce, Little Jimmy Dickens, Dan Seals

HENDERSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS - HENDERSONVILLE

Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, "Mother" Maybelle Carter, Ferlin Husky, Johnny Russell,

SPRING HILL CEMETERY - NASHVILLE

Hank Snow, Roy Acuff, Floyd Cramer, Earl Scruggs, Keith Whitley, Kitty Wells

Tip #14: A lot of the best music you'll wish you'd heard isn't found at LP Field but in the honky tonks, bars, and also at theaters and stages outside of Nashville. We heard about a show being performed in Gallatin, TN when we were there and decided to check it out. It was Chris Golden, son of William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys and special guests. I knew Chris was an amazing talent but who knew this show would wind up being the best show I saw all week!! Jimmy Fortune of the Statler Brothers and one of my favorite songwriters, Jimbeau Hinson, showed up and performed as well. The band consisted of most of the Oak Ridge Boys' Mighty Oaks Band and there were performances by Chris' children. AMAZING. We were left with our mouths hanging open it was so good. Don't be afraid to wander outside of Nashville, check the local websites and ask around about shows you may not know about. You might be surprised that in the places where there is the least crowd, you'll find the best music. Also don't bypass hearing someone because you're not familiar with the name, all big names started out that way. You could witness the next George Jones, Kenny Chesney or Loretta Lynn!

Tip #15: Bring your appetite. Nashville is abundant with some of the best food on the planet. You WILL eat and if you don't, there's something seriously wrong with you. BBQ, hot chicken, a grilled cheese gourmet food truck and MANY places to stuff your gullet abound!

Tip #16: Don't get so drunk you can't enjoy what you came here for, the music. Don't be "that person" that pisses off everyone around you by being obnoxious, overly loud, puking, spilling your beer, passing out into a urinal or God forbid, taking your clothes off. Leave that to the assholes. Don't ruin your own good time or the good time of those around you. Be responsible and be courteous. You can and will get your ass kicked in Nashville. They take the term "put a boot in your ass" literally. You also may not have enough bail money.

Tip #17: If you're going to Fan Fair X, get there early, the lines are insane and the building is enormous! Get ready to get in and out once you find your celebrity booth, have your camera ready and anything you want signed, they're on a time schedule. Don't hold up the line by telling a million stories of yesteryear or by having an artist sign 5 items or retaking photos because your muffin top was showing. Again, be courteous of not only those in line behind you, but of the celebrity's time. The nicer you are, the nicer they are and the better experience you'll have. Likewise, if you're going to Riverfront, get there VERY early or you will find yourself standing on the hill up in the busiest and most congested area of the park and not in a good mood.

Tip #18: If you're gonna be drinking, catch a ride with a friend, take a cab or Uber. Don't drive. CMA Fest isn't the place you want to to drive under the influence.

Tip #19: If you see an artist's tour manager, publicist, label rep, or crew, stop and tell them thank you. If it weren't for them, CMA Fest would suck. They are responsible for getting the artist scheduled, getting them to the venue, getting your name on any guest lists you're supposed to be on, the lighting at the nighttime shows, the meet and greets, and so many other things that make CMA Fest fun and enjoyable. If you're interviewing an artist for a publication or website, thank both the artist and their management for their time when the interview is over. Also, give the band members attention too!

Tip #20: The Nashville airport is a magnet for celebrities following CMA Fest. Some are getting out of town to visit family, some are just taking a break. CMA Fest is over at this point and you had 4 days to find them and get your pic taken and get your autograph. Give them some space when it's all over with and let them breathe. Imagine if you were hunted continuously for 4 days by thousands of hungry fans. Let them enjoy the time to themselves. Your time is over.

Go have a great time!
