POSITIVE MUSICAL INFLUENCES IN 2015

Music is a healing power, a sense of being, an answer to questions you never realized you had and answers to prayers you thought weren't heard. It's a positive influence on so many people in so many ways and we thought we'd share our choices of some of the artists that inspired, motivated and made us think about more than getting drunk, getting high or getting lucky in 2015. Their music had a message, the way they carry themselves left an impression and they created a positive presence in the world of country music. These artists provided a positive light to lead others, to be role models and to simply make a difference. These are the people whose influences we found to be most positive in 2015. If you have one you'd like to share, please leave a comment.

This couple defines inspiration. Joey gave birth to the sweetest baby girl with Downs Syndrome, Indiana in 2014 and in the middle of such a wonderful time for the family, also found out that Joey had cervical cancer. This year, it was announced that the cancer had spread and there was nothing medically that could be done so it was decided that she would halt treatments and leave her future in God's hands. During this time, you haven't heard a negative word from the family, you've only seen positive inspiration and a desire for Joey to live her days as only God knows and in the best way she can, as a mother, a wife, and a friend. Despite the prognosis and the physical pain she's endured, we have yet to see her without a smile on her face. With the country music world behind her in prayer, she has been seeing better days as of late, being able to actually get out of bed and spend time with her family laughing and smiling. If only we all had that positive spirit about us, this world would be a much better place.

With a near constant smile on her face, Kelsea Ballerini can light up an entire room just by walking in, making the worst mood much better just with her positive attitude. There is nothing fake or put on about Kelsea, what you see is what you get. She's a positive role model for young girls, never selling herself on any assets other than her talent.  She's a breath of positive fresh air for this genre and it's refreshing that her voice doesn't need automated "adjustments", she is just perfect as she is. She's been on about every entertainment show there is, graced many a magazine cover, interviewed with countless outlets, won awards and done many things but what she hasn't done is let any of it change who she is.

Mo is an old soul with fresh ideas on how to bring the tradition and respect of country music back to the forefront, to remind us that it's ok to share your faith and to believe in a power higher than yourself. He's also a pleasant reminder that humility is a welcome thing and something we don't see that often in today's music world. He is always grateful and it reflects in his attitude and in his music. Mo has proven that it's ok to be a "Country" artist and that sticking to who you are is just fine.

There is nothing about Chris Stapleton that isn't inspirational or motivational. His perseverance in the industry over the years without complaining that "Nashville doesn't know good music" or that certain artists or songs "aren't country" are things that reflect on the kind of person he is and what he's about ... he's content to just play the music and if the industry catches on, great, if they don't, he seems to be ok with that too. He's not about being the "next big thing" even though the industry FINALLY paid attention this year and now he really is the "next big thing". It hasn't changed who he is or how he behaves in the public eye. While the world is talking about how good he is, Chris remains the quiet, humble and appreciative guy he's always been. You won't see his face on every magazine cover. You won't see his shows crammed full of extra props and antics he doesn't need to distract from his talent .. what you'll see at a Chris Stapleton show is simply Chris, his guitar and a voice that was obviously one that God saw fit for the right person with the right heart.

Having dealt with a devastating blow a few years ago when his record label closed without warning just before the radio release of his first single, Benton Blount didn't let that hold him back or make him bitter. What it did do is make him more determined to do things HIS way and do them the way that felt right for him. He also realized that what it did for him was give him time with his family, to be a present husband and father to his wife and young son (and new daughter that's on the way). This year, his second chance came in the form of "America's Got Talent" where he auditioned and was cut just before the Top 5 finals. This second chance has put Benton back in the game with a fan base that has grown exponentially and he released a single, "God Talks to Me". God talked to Benton in a big way this year and that talk has put him back on the path to success and he's proven that even the toughest obstacles are put in your way to see just how hard you are willing to fight to get past them. He fought and he won. The best of the rest is yet to come.

These two outspoken young women virtually came out of nowhere and shook up the "bro country" world with their retort that women are more than a pair of cut off shorts and a tank top, that they're more than the typical description of a "Girl in a Country Song" and opened the door wide open for a female movement in country music. They followed up their smash debut with a song about spreading your wings and believing in your dreams with the inspirational tune, "Fly". Maddie and Tae are showing young girls and women alike that it's ok to stand tall and do your own thing, to just fly.

It was a rough year for Miranda, full of ups but also full of more downs than anyone should have to deal with - intrusions by the media and Internet trolls speculating and pointing fingers about her divorce from Blake Shelton, photos of Blake and Gwen's new "relationship" plastered all over social media and television every time she batted an eye and she's handled the entire situation with class, grace and dignity, never saying a negative word in the press (at least not that I've seen or heard), keeping her social media timeline above board and showing the world that she's getting through this just fine and that it's not keeping her down. She may be quiet for the time being, but that certainly doesn't mean she's down for the count. Expect Miranda to come back like a champ in 2016 and to keep reminding us why we love her.

Randy Rogers went through an emotional roller coaster this year with the excitement of the birth of a dark haired beautiful baby girl named Rumer Rain, posting his family's joy on his social media timeline with a photo and announcement, only to be shattered by her death six days later. Rumer was diagnosed with Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH), which is a rare genetic disorder affecting only about 1 in 66,000 newborns each year in the United States and unfortunately has no cure. The condition impairs the brain and leads to seizures, limpness in the muscles, breathing and difficulties with feeding and lethargy. Instead of retreating, Randy continued forward armed with the information he now had on this disease to help other parents suffering from the same situation by joining with Seton Medical Center Austin to fund "nesting suites" for families of babies who have been assigned to neonatal intensive care. These suites allow families to remain with their child around the clock, to talk to doctors and nurses, and be part of their child's care system even if the mother has been discharged. He's making a positive difference out of his own personal loss for so many people.

Rusty Golden, the son of Oak Ridge Boys member, William Lee Golden, has been dependent on pain medication since health issues back in 2002. This addiction was a struggle for Rusty and eventually took him to Rob's Ranch in Oklahoma where he began his fight against the demons to regain his inner strength and become sober again. During his stay at the ranch, Rusty began to write and perform songs for others in ranch fighting this difficult battle. These songs began his  road to personal healing and lead him to "Sober", his emotional and personal album of these songs that inspired and motivated him to put the struggle behind him and move forward. Rusty wants his music to matter, to make a difference in someones life. This album is his way of making that happen.

Wade Hayes was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in 2011 which went into remission in 2012. Since then Wade has been a positive and inspiring voice for those suffering from this life threatening disease. Shortly after finding out he had cancer, he wrote and released a single about the realization that his time was limited called "Is It Already Time". His faith has never wavered and his hope led him to his 2015 album with a message, "Go Live Your Life".  He also talks about his battle and participates in cancer awareness events to spread his words of hope and to remind people that we all have an expiration date and none of us know when that date is and until your time comes, you just have to believe and get out and live with the best of your abilities, be the best person you can and love as much as you can.

Mark may not have new music out right now, but if you pay attention to his social media feeds, there is nothing this guy posts that isn't positive. Whether it be the regular posts about his love of country, the personal photos of he and his family, his belief and support of our military and it's veterans, or his funny selfies and "Dubsmash" videos, Mark always keeps it real and keeps us entertained in a positive way. Look for new music on the way from Mark in 2016, we'll be talking A LOT about it!

COUNTRY MUSIC REFLECTIONS: THINKING BACK ON 2015

Man it's been a HUGE year for country music - lots of laughs, tears, milestones, accomplishments, and record setting. Shania came back for her "final" tour, Garth continued his comeback world tour, the Oak Ridge Boys hit the road for their 26th Christmas tour and Lady Antebellum took a break as members decided to work on solo projects for awhile. New artists released some amazing music and old favorites came back with new releases. Country music always leaves us with a lot of memories from year to year, this year was no different. Let's take a look back and look at what 2015 left us ...

LAUGHS - Remember when ...

Blake Shelton said something, anything and everything but what about the Whisper Challenge with Jimmy Fallon?

Brad and Carrie paid a loving, yet humorous tribute to the late country music legend, Little Jimmy Dickens on the CMA Awards? Dickens was a frequent guest on the awards show in hilarious skits. Brad and Carrie talked about LJD wanting people to remember him as someone who made people laugh and fulfilled that final wish by reaching into his "supposed" ashes and pulling out the world's smallest urn and making the entire audience burst out in laughter. What a great moment. (Sorry, no video to be found.)

Jason Aldean impersonated Luke Bryan for Cody Alan?  - http://on.cmt.com/1YzDycn

Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard told us "It's All Going to Pot" in their own special way?

PRAYERS ... We came together as a country family and prayed ...
Our hearts broke as we learned that Joey Feek of one of country's most loved duos, "Joey and Rory" announced that her cancer had returned and there was nothing more that could be medically done and chose to end her chemical treatments and let nature take it's course .. this is where prayer took over as artists and fans alike banded together to support Joey and her family with love and prayer that a miracle would happen. Joey is currently in hospice care, with her same beautiful smile and strong faith that she will beat this and we're all there right beside her. Rory's blog posts of her precious moments with their infant daughter, Indiana and their older daughters made us smile, made us believe and showed us just how important and fragile life really is. We love you and are still praying for that miracle. Joey and Rory are daily inspirations through their attitude of acceptance, resiliance and love.

We also prayed for Nashville producer, Dave Brainard, who was a victim of a random, unprovoked beating while crossing the street in downtown Nashville in September. Brainard was left unconscious and required reconstructive surgery of his jaw. The attackers have since been arrested and are scheduled to go to trial soon. Dave is thankfully out of the hospital and doing much better, making the rounds as usual and spending time with friends.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS - Remember When ...

Oak Ridge Boys HOF Induction Ceremony

- The Oak Ridge Boys FINALLY had their long deserved and much overdue honor of being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame? It took over 40 years, too many miles and cities to count in order to reach the pinnacle and crowning moment in their career, but when these four men finally reached the top, the look back at the road they traveled took to get there was a long one, but the view from their perspective was spectacular and emotional as fans cheered, critics raved, the angels sang and we all cried. Congratulations Joe, Duane, William Lee and Richard on finally coming home. YOU are home.

Chris Stapleton

- Virtual unknown underdog singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton swept 3 major award categories at the CMA Awards and stunned the world? Remember how his record sales skyrocketed, his Youtube views went through the roof, how radio suddenly noticed that the best music obviously wasn't always on their stations and now it is? The good guys might finish last but they finish big. This year the good guy finished first, finished big and actually never finished at all because he's just getting started. Thank you Chris for putting the "try" back in country and for reminding us what good music and natural talent sound and look like.

Kelsea Ballerini

- Women finally made their mark on country radio again with breakout artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Maddie and Tae, Kacey Musgraves, Mickey Guyton, Cam, Jana Kramer, Sunny Sweeney, Clare Dunn, Lindsey Ell, Cassadee Pope, Lauren Alaina, and Danielle Bradbery getting more and more airplay? They definitely proved #Saladgate wrong, women are much more than just the tomatoes in a country music salad and they're more than window dressing. They're here to stay and here to let the Keith Hills of the world know that they're not going anywhere.

George Strait "Cold Beer Conversation" CD Cover

- Traditional country music started a comeback with new artists like Mo Pitney and William Michael Morgan while country music veteran favorites like Clint Black, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Hank Jr, The Oak Ridge Boys, Alan Jackson, Reba, Ronnie Dunn, Sammy Kershaw, and Alabama released brand new music to the thrill of traditional country music fans everywhere? You could almost smell the sawdust on the old wooden dance floors again.

Little Big Town

- Little Big Town finally got pay off for the years of paying dues by being the biggest vocal group on the planet during 2015? When "Girl Crush" came out, it pretty much cemented the fact that they were finally gonna be taken seriously and won every award having to do with a song, group performance or songwriter? It also made everyone that thought a well written song about jealousy in a relationship was about lesbians look kinda stupid for not actually listening to the very evident story inside the song.

RECORD SETTERS ... Remember When ...

The 2015 ACM Awards 50th anniversary show held in Dallas at ATT Cowboy Stadium on April 19th secured a spot for Country Music in the Guiness Book of World Records for drawing a crowd of 70,252, along with more than 20 live performances while Miranda Lambert set a record for most consecutive wins as Female Vocalist of the Year as she took home her 6th award?

Guiness made several presentations that night for accomplishments in Country music:

- Alabama as the record holder for Most Consecutive Wins as ACM Entertainer of the Year (5 years in a row between 1981 - 1985)

- Brooks & Dunn as the record holders for 2 categories, Most Wins for ACM Vocal Duo of the Year (16 wins) and Most Consecutive Wins for ACM Vocal Duo of the Year (8 wins)

- Rascal Flatts also were presented as record holders in 2 categories - Most Consecutive Wins for ACM Vocal Group of the Year (7 wins) and Most Wins for Vocal Group of the Year (7 wins).

On June 22, Black River Entertainment's breakout female artist, Kelsea Ballerini, became the first female artist to reach #1 on Country Airplay with a debut single, "Love Me Like You Mean It", since Carrie Underwood held the honor in 2006 and  not only that, but Kelsea was also the first female artist to do this on an independent label. This girl is going big places and getting there quick!

On July 18, Little Big Town's "Girl Crush" broke the record of weeks at #1 by a group of three or more members, taking the record over from The Browns and their song The Three Bells.

ENGAGEMENTS ... They liked it so they put a ring on it ...

- Josh Gracin and Katie Weir
- RaeLynn and Josh Davis
- Barry Knox (Parmalee) and Kristin Joyner

- Craig Wayne Boyd and Taylor Borland
- Clare Bowen ("Nashville") and Brandon Robert Young

MARRIAGES ... We gathered together to witness the unions of ...

- Tyler Hubbard (Florida Georgia Line) and Hayley Stommel
- Jerrod Niemann

- DeeJay Silver and Jenna Michelle Straub
- Jason Aldean and Brittany Kerr

- John Osborne (Brothers Osborne) and Lucie Silvas
- Shannon Haley and Ryan Michaels ("Haley and Michaels")

DIVORCES ... Remember the alimony, the media saturation and the world's speculation on what went wrong between ... they're moving on and we should too ...

- Blake and Miranda
- Jake and Lacey
- Reba and Narvel

BIRTHS ...  2015 saw the births of country music's newest fans ...

- Mallary Hope and husband Ryan Dokke welcomed their daughter, Scarlett Ruth Dokke on January 19.

-  Clara Henningsen (of the Henningsens) and husband, Jacob Calaway, celebrated their Valentine's Day with the birth of their son, Louie Cannon Calaway, on February 14.

- Logan Mize and his wife Jill also celebrated Valentine's Day this year with a welcome addition to their family, their second child, Violet Raye Mize, born on February 14.

- Eric Church and his wife Katherine just missed Valentine's Day by one day but celebrated the day after with the birth of their second child, a son named Tennessee Hawkins Church.

- Hit songwriter, Dallas Davidson, and his wife Natalia had their first child, son Dallas Gerald Davidson, Jr on February 25.

- Country sweetheart, Carrie Underwood, and her hockey player husband, Mike Fisher, had their first child, Isaiah Michael Fisher, on February 27.

- Trailer Choir's March "Butter" Fortney and his wife Emily Robertson of Carter's Chord said hello to their second child, Hutch Robertson Fortney who made his grand entrance on St. Patrick's Day, March 17.

- Speaking of Trailer Choir, former TC singer Crystal Hoyt and her husband Todd welcomed son Ryman Marshall Bray on March 31.

- Randy Rogers and his wife Chelsea Cai Dowlearn welcomed their daughter, Rumer Rain, on June 3, however this beautiful gift passed away at only 6 days old due to health complications.

- Singer Danielle Peck and her husband Josh said hello to their daughter Ava on August 16.

- Jessie James Decker and her husband, Eric Decker, of the NY Jets scored a touchdown of their own and brought their second child into the world on September 4, Eric Decker II.

- Toby Keith took on the title of grandfather this year when daughter Krystal Keith and husband  Andrew Sandubrae welcomed daughter Hensley Jack Sandubrae on October 19.

- David Nail and wife Catherine Werne welcomed twins on December 12, a son named Lawson Brent Nail and a daughter, Lillian Catherine Nail.

GIVING BACK ... Remember the generosity

- Of Brantley Gilbert donating $10.5 million dollars to Toys for Tots?

- Of Kelsea Ballerini when she chose to take a cancer patient and friend,Allie Allen, as her date to the CMA Awards?

- Of Dierks Bentley and his fans when they rode for Miles and Music for Kids? The event year to date has raised over $3 million dollars for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

- Of Craig Campbell when he held a cornhole challenge during CMA Fest to raise money for colorectral cancer research and had fun with fans at the same time?

- Of Garth Brooks hosting a Teammates ProCamps in each city on his Comeback Tour to benefit children?

- Of Clay Walker's fight against MS with his "Band Against MS" concert?

- Of Kenny Chesney's making the Love Hope Strength Foundation’s "Get On The List" campaign part of his most attended "Big Revival Tour"?

The tour was much more than just the most attended country music tour this year, it was a tour that gave back. Attendees at stadium shows were able to register as potential bone marrow donors by doing an easy and simple cheek swab test that, through Delete Blood Cancer, is entered in the national donor bank for potential matches. The tour wound up finding 25 potential matches for those in life-threatening situations.

Looking back, this year was about so much more than simply music, it was about the meaning of music and the wonderful things that happen during the year. Music heals, it helps, it cheers and it creates goodwill among it's community. The music itself was wonderful but it was what happened in the silence between the notes that really left it's mark. I can't wait to see what 2016 holds!

ARTISTS TO WATCH IN 2015

2014 was a breakout year for country music, full of debuts from new artists and the much anticipated return of two of country's greatest, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. 2014 was chock full of tours from Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Eric Church and more. It was the year of "bro country", trucks, Fireball whiskey and white tank tops and it was also the year that people got tired of "bro country", trucks, Fireball whiskey and white tank tops. It was the year that female country artists like Lee Ann Womack, Maddie and Tae, Leah Turner, Katie Armiger, Brandy Clark and others showed that they weren't about to take a back seat to their male counterparts and began to make a statement by putting estrogen back in the spotlight. It was the year of an overabundance of awards shows, there were the ACM's, the ACA's, the AMA's, the ACCA's, the CMA's, the CMT Awards, and the Grammys. The news was full of stories about country music, both positive and not so positive. No matter which was you spin it, 2014 officially put country music on the map and on people's radios making the genre bigger than ever.

2014 was a big year for new artists with hits by Eric Paslay, Randy Houser, Sunny Sweeney, Will Hoge, Brothers Osborne, Craig Campbell, and others that have worked hard to get their music heard. This year can only get better with the crop of new names that have already made an impression with their debut singles who are waiting to be the next breakout artist. We've chosen our picks for those artists you should really start paying attention to and who we hope to see heading big places in 2015!

Male Artists

Craig Wayne Boyd - Fresh off a HUGE win on the NBC hit show, "The Voice", Nashville's Craig Wayne Boyd brings with him a breath of fresh air that country music has long needed. With a compelling back story of more than 10 years of struggling in the business and nearly giving up on music, a strong voice and a strong sense of who he is as an artist, Craig has already more than proven himself to be in it for the long haul. He brought America to it's knees with his rendition of the classic spiritual "The Old Rugged Cross", he gave new life to Johnny Cash's "Walk the Line" and his debut single, "My Baby's Got a Smile" hit the #1 spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, with Craig being only the 2nd artist to debut at #1 since Garth Brooks made history with "More Than A Memory" in 2007. You can connect with Craig at www.craigwayneboyd.com, on Twitter and Facebook. You can also catch him out on tour!

Mo Pitney - Mo Pitney is more than a singer, he's a storyteller. His latest single, "Country" isn't just a song, it's who he is and where his heart is. His voice, style and way of presenting a song is unique and at the same time, familiar. Tradition is where Mo's heart is and the hearts of country fans is where we'll likely see Mo residing this year.

Chris Lane - This NC boy already made a huge impact on fans this year with his hit single, "Broken Windshield View" and his good looks and was a familiar voice as support on tours with Lee Brice and Florida Georgia Line. He's also opened up for big names such as The Band Perry, Chris Young and Brantley Gilbert . He is currently signed with Big Loud Mountain and is in the process of recording his first EP with producer Joey Moi. Chris followed his faith and his faith in himself has led him to the brink of being a breakout artist and we can see that happening in 2015.

Chase Bryant - Fans love an artist who is multi-dimensional and Chase Bryant is just that. He can sing, has a distinct image and his guitar skills are more than exceptional. Chase has hit all the right notes with his new single, "Take It on Back" which was a huge hit on Sirius XM's The Highway and is slowing making it's way to mainstream stations nationwide. Keep your ears open, Chase is gonna make a real name for himself in 2015.

Canaan Smith - I finally had the pleasure of seeing Canaan Smith perform live during the summer and now I get it. The piercing eyes, the smile, the rugged sexy look combined with a great voice got my attention. Canaan is much more than a behind the scenes songwriter, he's a presence that country fans are starting to catch on to. His latest single, "Love You Like That" is exactly what radio is doing, they're loving him. Looking forward to seeing what he is gonna bring to the table in 2015.

Dean Alexander - We've been huge fans of Dean Alexander since he first came on the scene a few years back. With his good looks, sense of humor and stunning vocals, he's sure to make an impression on country music in 2015. His single, "Live a Little" was a huge smash on The Highway and was one of the summer's "feel good" songs. This talent took a chance  on Nashville, pulling into town in 2006 with $100.00 in his pocket and nothing but his clothes and that chance is paying off with country music taking a chance on him. The road he's been traveling is winding right on into 2015 and his music is proving that Dean definitely made the right choice.

Female Artists

Annie Bosko - We just caught wind of Annie with her brand new single, "Crooked Halo" which seemed to just come out of nowhere, but isn't nowhere the place the best artists seem to come from?Having opened or performed backing vocals for country names such as Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley, Big & Rich, and Josh Turner, Annie is proving to be one hell of a stand alone artist who can not only sing with a power that few possess but an undeniable quality in her vocals. She's feisty, determined and well on her way to being a force to be reckoned with in 2015.

Mickey Guyton - This Texas native may have lived a nomad's life but she's always known music was where she was destined to wind up. Her debut single, "Better Than You Left Me" has garnered national attention in the press and throughout the music industry. She released her EP, "Unbreakable", last spring and that's exactly what Mickey Guyton is, unbreakable. She's in the process of completing his debut full length CD and we're looking forward to what she's got coming out way in the new year.

Maddie and Tae - These girls blew the tops off beer bottles everywhere when they took to country radio and video with their mega-hit single, "Girl in a Country Song", the song that kicked bro country right in the naughty no no place. These girls came out of nowhere and immediately made a name for themselves and that name isn't "blond girl with tan legs #1 and blond girl with tan legs #2." Yes, they're blond and yes they're attractive but they're also extremely talented and intelligent. These girls made their point and they have staked their place in country music by making headlines nationwide and now they're ready to show country music fans that they're much more than a novelty, they're a duo to be taken seriously.

Kelsea Ballerini - At the age of 15, Kelsea Ballerini made the move to Nashville and a short 4 years later was signed to her first publishing deal, followed shortly thereafter with a record deal with Black River Entertainment. She recently released her first single, "Love Me Like You Mean It" and it's taken off like a rodeo rider on a bucking bronco but the only difference here is that Kelsea isn't gonna be bucked off in 8 seconds, this girl has staying power. With powerfully strong vocals and a unique clarity, she proves that she's got the chops to go head to head against any of today's new female artists.

Karyn Rochelle - Karyn's always been a songwriter in the round, a voice in the background until 2014 when Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood chose her to be the opening act on the comeback tour of the century and step out from behind the pen and step out vocally in front of millions. This Wilmington, NC native has long been a songwriting jewel in country's crown having written multiple songs for Trisha such as "Georgia Rain" and "This is Me You're Talking To", Kellie Pickler including her debut hit "Red High Heels" and "Don't You Know You're Beautiful, Sunny Sweeney's monster hit "From a Table Away" and many other artists including George Jones, Sara Evans, and Steve Wariner. Having released her own self-titled EP this year, she's no longer just the background to some of country's best, she's a stand alone artist in her own right with a country tone and strength in her voice that should be in the spotlight. (Check out "Jezebels" and "Better Off" on her EP, these are both hit worthy.)

Sunny Sweeney - If I had to sum up Sunny Sweeney in 4 words, these easily come to mind - "attitude, backbone, confidence and balls." Yes I said balls because that's what she's got, bigger than most male artists and brass at that. She stands in a class all her own, in a small group of females who don't back down, who don't cave to industry pressure to be someone they're not and she refuses to be apologetic for the strong person that she is. She believes in her music and more and more people are catching on and believing in her as well. Her song, "From a Table Away" was a hit, her last single "Bad Girl Phase" told women everywhere that it's okay to step out from behind the aprons, the weekend soccer mom persona and the Emily Post manners and be the "bad girl" once in awhile. The single went to #1 on the Texas Music Charts and her cd, "Unprovoked" was listed on many lists as one of the top albums of 2014. She's got that undeniable, identifiable country twang, the "boot in your ass" attitude and the "in your face" personality to really take her a long way this year. People really need to tune in. Sunny Sweeney is gonna bust through those closed doors with a racket and make some major noise this year.

Group

Old Dominion - Hot damn I love these guys. Some of the best songwriters came together said "screw it, let's perform our own music" and it has paid off in spades. Their debut single, "Shut Me Up" took Sirius XM's The Highway by storm, making iTunes New and Noteworthy list, and getting thumbs up from online country sites like Taste of Country and Roughstock. Rolling Stone included OD in their "New Artists You Need to Know". The band has opened for Chase Rice on his headlining "Ignite the Night" tour and are heading out as support for Kenny Chesney on "The Big Revival" tour this summer. Their follow up single, "Break Up With Him" is already making waves and is making it's way towards being another hit for the group.

A Thousand Horses - Rolling Stone named them "best up and comers" at the Austin City Limits Music Festival and then Scott Borchetta of Big Machine caught wind of the band and signed them to a record deal with Republic Nashville. I saw them perform at City Limits Saloon in Raleigh, NC a couple of years ago and immediately loved their sound and their stage presence, I knew it was just a matter of time before people started to catch onto their unique sound and style. Their song, "Drunk Dial", should have been a hit without a doubt. They've just released their new single, "Smoke" on iTunes.
