COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME SINGER CONNIE SMITH RELEASES SOARING NEW TRACK “HERE COMES MY BABY BACK AGAIN” TODAY

54TH ALBUM "THE CRY OF THE HEART" SET FOR AUGUST 20 RELEASE ON FAT POSSUM RECORDS

Today, country music icon Connie Smith releases her newest track “Here Comes My Baby Back Again” from her anticipated new album "The Cry of the Heart", out August 20th (Fat Possum).

“Here Comes My Baby Back Again” is one of three tracks on "The Cry of the Heart" penned by Smith and her producer/husband Marty Stuart. “We’ve had such a great time,” affirms Smith, who says that over the past 25 years, “we’ve written 40 or 50 songs. We’ve been together long enough now that we’re starting to think alike.” Stuart adds, “When we write a new song that feels like it’s been here for 40 years and has the feeling of an old friend, I know we’re there. I love writing with her. She’s the world’s greatest finisher, polisher, and helper, as well as the consummate song hound.”

Smith recently took over the Grand Ole Opry with Marty Stuart, Lee Ann Womack, Mandy Barnett and others, celebrating her extraordinary career and upcoming release. The exceptional evening included legends such as Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and Tanya Tucker congratulating her on her illustrious career new effort. Watch the special event HERE.

"The Cry of the Heart" is Smith’s 54th album and continues her legendary career. She teamed up with musical titans for the release, including legendary Nashville Cat, pianist Hargus “Pig” Robbins, who has regularly collaborated with Smith since the beginning. Stuart says the bond runs deep between Connie and Robbins – “her secret weapon” – both inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012. “I sing better when Pig’s playing,” Smith confesses. “I love the depth and timbre of his playing. The way he plays just lifts me up and I feel more when Pig’s playing.” And for Connie Smith, singing is all about feeling. “It’s just the way I get my heart out,” she says. “I try and do it from my heart because if you don’t, it don’t mean anything.”

Smith has been consistently fanning the country music flames since her first hit single in 1964, “Once A Day” and has carried the torch ever since. In March of 2021 the Library of Congress announced that “Once a Day” was one of the 2020 selections for its National Recording Registry. “People ask me, ‘What is country music,’” says Smith. “I say, ‘To me, country music is the cry of the heart.’ We all have these experiences in our hearts and I’m trying to identify and communicate with people so they know they’re not alone.”

You can pre-order "The Cry of the Heart" HERE.

ACCLAIMED SINGER/SONGWRITER HAYES CARLL RETURNS FEBRUARY 15TH WITH HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM WHAT IT IS AND 2019 TOUR DATES

ROLLING STONE COUNTRY ANNOUNCES ALBUM WITH FEATURE AND EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE OF NONE’YA”

What It Is, the highly-anticipated new album from acclaimed singer/songwriter Hayes Carll, is set for release on February 15th via Dualtone Music. Carll will hit the road in February in support of the new album (see tour dates below). Following the 2016 release of the deeply-personal and cathartic Lovers and Leavers, What It Is finds Carll rejuvenated on a new creative plateau. The 12 new songs are written/co-written by Carll and address topics ranging from the ever-changing arc of relationships to our current socio-political climate, and many points between. Carll’s signature blend of literate, thoughtful songwriting, delivered with his wry wit and clever twists are on full display throughout the new collection.

For more than a decade, Hayes Carll has been highly-regarded by fans, critics and fellow artists as a songwriter’s songwriter with his own voice. He has won multiple Americana Music Awards, received a Grammy nomination, repeatedly topped the Americana radio charts, performed on national television including The Tonight Show and Austin City Limits and has had his songs recorded by artists that include Lee Ann Womack, Kenny Chesney, Kelly Willis and Hard Working Americans. His albums have garnered high praise from a wide spectrum of the press, including Rolling Stone, The New York Times, NPR, Entertainment Weekly, SPIN, People, Esquire, American Songwriter, Paste and many more.

On What It Is, Hayes Carll offers acerbic observations and pointed commentary on current relatable topics. The incendiary political climate that has permeated our nation has pushed too many to the far left or far right, while Carll makes an effort to expand the middle. The sardonic “Wild Pointy Finger” looks at how quickly we judge and condemn. “Fragile Men” points to insecurity as the root of one gender’s resistance to change, while “Times Like These” is a reminder that we are letting all the ‘noise’ out there pull us further away from who we are, thus further dividing us.

What It Is is not solely a politically driven effort. Carll sings about loss while painting a vivid image of a bar where nothing has changed in decades in “Jesus and Elvis”. He ruminates about eccentric love in “None’ya”, reminds himself to not let fear become a mental roadblock in “If I May Be So Bold” and affirms his commitment to love in the tender album closer ”I Will Stay”.

Hayes Carll opens himself up to collaborations on What It Is, featuring co-writes with Matraca Berg, Adam Landry, Lolo, Charlie Mars and Allison Moorer. Moorer is also credited as co-producer with Brad Jones returns after producing Carll’s award winning albums Trouble in Mind (2008) and KMAG YOYO (2011).

INDEPENDENT ARTIST AARON WATSON PROVES AGAIN THAT YOU DON'T NEED A MAJOR LABEL TO BE A SUCCESS

AARON WATSON DEBUTS IN TOP 10 ON THE BILLBOARD 200 ALBUMS CHART WITH BIGGEST CAREER SALES AND #2 ON THE TOP COUNTRY ALBUMS CHART

ALBUM HITS #1 ON BILLBOARD’S INDEPENDENT ALBUMS CHART,
#1 ON iTUNES COUNTRY ALBUMS CHART AND #1 ALL-GENRE

Vaquero, the new album from independent country artist Aaron Watson debuts in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his biggest career sales week to date, and #2 on the Top Country Albums chart with 39,000 equivalent album units in total consumption. Vaquero landed at #1 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart across all genres. The singer-songwriter, with his groundswell of loyal fans, opened at #1 on iTunes Country Albums chart and has continued to stay perched in the top spot consistently for over a week. As momentum of the release increased over the week, Watson soared to #1 on the iTunes All-Genre chart. Watson made history in 2015 when his 10th studio album The Underdog hit #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart (26,000 albums sold), making him the first-ever independent, male country artist to debut in the coveted top spot. Watson’s rise was paved by years of hard work and perseverance, and his story is currently featured in an extensive 9-page piece in Texas Monthly’s March issue. Read the in-depth article, HERE.

On Friday, March 10th, Watson will make his national television debut on Fox & Friends morning show live from New York City.

Aaron Watson continues to dominate as a true independent in the country music arena. Marking off major milestones along the way, he’s gearing up to headline the opening night of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo on March 7th at NRG Stadium (home of the 2017 Super Bowl). Watson will be recording a live CD/DVD to capture the evening as the first artist permitted by HLSR to do so since George Strait in 2001. Watson recently performed for a sold-out crowd (70,000+) at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in the AT&T Center and he will be among the star-studded lineup for the Academy Of Country Music’s Party For A Cause Festival in Las Vegas, NV on April 1st.

Vaquero has released to overwhelming support from press, including Billboard, Rolling Stone Country, Noisey, The Boot, Taste Of Country and more. All have praised Watson’s well-crafted songs; his impressive path carved outside of the Nashville establishment and his steadfast commitment to his Texas roots. See more press highlights HERE.

"Above all, he is authentic. What you see is what you get. At a time when everyone and everything seems overly marketed, when we’re being constantly manipulated and sold to, the music of Aaron Watson can be awfully appealing. There’s no gimmick, no pretension, there’s certainly no irony.” – Texas Monthly

"Watson’s knack for shaping sharp, hooky choruses makes this eleventh edition to his catalog not just a worthy complement to ‘The Underdog,’ but a textbook example of his talents in a genre overflowing with shapeless, cookie cutter ‘bro country,’ little of which is half as enjoyable or well-crafted as the majority of ‘Vaquero’."

– American Songwriter

“…the most sprawling work Watson has ever done, blending country-rock, R’n’B-tinged love ballads, backwoods stories, an epic instrumental track and traditional country twang with ease.” – Austin American Statesman

Watson shared a snapshot of the last 18 years and his slow-and-steady climb to the top with fans via Facebook in a video that has gone viral, racking up over 6 million views, HERE.
