AMERICAN YOUNG EXPANDS INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE FOLLOWING SOLD OUT FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE IN CHINA

American Young recently performed at the Chengdu Auto Music Festival in China for a sold-out crowd of 20K fans. The duo, made up of Jon Stone and Kristy Osmunson, was the only foreign act invited to perform at this year’s festival. This is a major feat for an American act to have an opportunity to perform at an event of this caliber.

Following their sold-out performance at Chengdu, American Young performed in Beijing at a banquet that was hosted in their honor. In attendance were Chinese artists, television executives, music producers and film directors, who took interest in collaborating with the duo. American Young’s positive impression earned them an invitation to return to China this fall.

“We couldn’t be more humbled and grateful for the opportunity to share communities, art, music, language, and friends with such an amazing country. Cheng Du is the big sister city to Nashville, while Beijing is our big brother! We are so blessed to be able to experience such a rich and vibrant Chinese culture through its music,” Said Osmunson.

The duo’s performance and appearance in China is an encouraging example of the growing cultural and arts exchange between the United States and China. There are 1.4 billion people in China eager to learn and appreciate American music, arts, and culture.

Formal relationships in the states have already begun with the Chinese entertainment industry. Todd Thomas of Curb Records/Brave World Agency has plans to bring other Curb Recording acts to China to begin establishing relationships of their own. During American Young’s visit, China’s Kelly Yu and Kevin Kong hosted the duo and assisted in expanding the cultural exchange between the United States and China. Additionally, a relationship has been formed in the U.S. with Trisha Lum and Nickie Lum Davis of TriNick Entertainment, Marvin Baker of Cafe Nashville and BGTV Direct who will continue to bring American music of all genres like Blue Grass, R&B, Pop, and Hip Hop to China.

American Young continues to have widespread international success in selling out venues throughout various countries around the world. In the last two years, the duo has toured all over the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Netherlands, Germany, Mexico, Belgium, and Denmark. The Curb Recording artists are looking forward to releasing new music both nationally and internationally in the near future.

CMA CLOSEUP: NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - AMERICAN YOUNG

When two artists, already wise to the ways of the Country Music world, form a duo, the result can be more varied than what you often get from sibling pairs.

When the twosome is Kristy Osmunson and Jon Stone, it can also be close to magic.

They have plenty in common. Both are American and, though well established in Nashville, young. Stone’s writing credits include “Me and My Gang” for Rascal Flatts, “A Woman Like You” for Lee Brice and “It Ain’t Yours to Throw Away” for fictitious superstar Gunnar Scott on “Nashville.” Osmunson sizzled on fiddle with another duo, Bomshel.

On June 24, Curb Records released their first digital EP, whose six tracks bubble with their chemistry and daringly defy convention. Their first single, “Love Is War” (written by Billy Montana, Kylie Sackley and Jonathan Singleton), eschews slamming backbeats and hillbilly swagger for simple, quiet harmonies and unisons over delicate, lutelike plucks and an almost evanescent drum part. Each takes a turn in the spotlight — Stone with tangible urgency on “Wasn’t Gonna Drink Tonight” (Lee Brice, Billy Montana and Stone), Osmunson with muted desperation on “God Sends a Train.”

Expect American Young to be making music this memorable well into adulthood.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 9, 2013) – A toast was made in Las Vegas at the stroke of midnight Sunday night to celebrate award-winning singer/songwriter Lee Brice’s new #1 single, “I Drive Your Truck”. The poignant ballad joins his previous 2 number one songs as singles that also happened to peak the same week as major country award shows. “A Woman Like You” went #1 the week of the 2012 ACM Awards. The follow up single “Hard To Love” hit the top spot later that year during the week of the CMA Awards, and following suit, “I Drive Your Truck” reached the pinnacle during ACM Awards week this year. Curb Records is gearing up for the 4th single, “Parking Lot Party”, off the current album.

Although a prolific songwriter himself, Brice did not write “I Drive Your Truck”; however, he knew he had to cut it as soon as he heard it. “Every now and then I hear a song that just blows me away,” he said. “And that song just put me on the floor the first time I heard it”. Brice’s powerfully raw and emotional offering is the fastest moving single of his career and is his 3rd #1 single in a row from his latest album, Hard 2 Love, which includes several songs co-written and co-produced by label mate, Jon Stone of new duo American Young, which also includes Kristy Osmunson.

Jon and Kristy joined hosts Dallas Davidson and Don Schlitz and gave the crowd a taste of their new music at the ACM Songwriters Show. Before attending the awards, the duo walked the red carpet where Jon spoke about his Song of the Year nomination for Brice’s “A Woman Like You” and they both fielded questions about their highly anticipated new album, which will be co-produced by Lee Brice and Justin Neibank. The duo, who have a list of songwriting and producer credits among them, will release their debut single “Love Is War” to radio this summer.
