VIDEO: "SHOEBOX" - CHRIS GOLDEN

I never really knew much about Chris Golden other than he was the son of the Oak Ridge Boys William Lee Golden and drummer in the Mighty Oaks Band until I got a chance to sit and talk with him before his show with the Oaks in Myrtle Beach, SC in September. I learned alot about him, mainly that he's a wonderful musician and artist in his own right. I knew he was a great drummer but never realized how talented he is outside of that glass box and in front of the skins. I'll be reviewing his cd shortly, but for now, take a listen to his song, "Shoebox". What a wonderful song. You might want a tissue or two.

CD REVIEW: "ELIZABETH GOLDEN" - ELIZABETH GOLDEN

Meet Elizabeth Golden, granddaughter of the Oak Ridge Boys' William Lee Golden and daughter of the Oak Ridge Boys' drummer, Chris Golden. If you're one of the lucky ones, you may have caught her performing at an Oak Ridge Boys show. When you hear her sing, you''ll be surprised to learn she is only 15 years old. Elizabeth has a soothing richness in her voice, a surprising depth and control that even the most established artists don't possess. Her debut self-titled cd, "Elizabeth Golden" not only showcases her voice, it also underscores her instrumental proficiency as a fiddle player. She is not your average teenager, she is far beyond her years when it comes to musical expertise.

Her cd offers a look into her ability both as a vocalist and an instrumentalist with songs focusing on each aspect of her talent. Her musical family also lends a hand with backing vocals and instrumentals. Her current single, "Fields of Gold", is a classic hit made popular by Sting and Eva Cassidy and Elizabeth holds her own in such company. She envelopes the song with an overall simplicity that makes the song brand new.

The remainder of the cd is comprised of both vocal selections and purely instrumental choices, all crafted with top shelf skill and obvious professional quality. If you are a fan of Alison Krauss, then chances are you'll probably be a fan of Elizabeth's.
