RANDY HOUSER NOMINATED FOR 2015 CMA SONG OF THE YEAR

Editor's Note: IT'S ABOUT FLIPPIN' TIME!

Nomination for “Like A Cowboy” comes as Houser preps for We Went Tour featuring Frankie Ballard and Craig Campbell

PRESS RELEASE

When powerhouse country vocalist Randy Houser released ballad “Like A Cowboy,” it was dubbed by Taste of Country as "a pure, unencumbered vocal showcase [...] for country fans who just like to hear a great vocalist at his best." The powerful single, released on his third album How Country Feels, garnered Houser his third career nomination earlier today (Wednesday) for the 49th Annual CMA Awards.

“I’m just so honored and humbled,” Houser said following the announcement this morning. “As an artist you don’t get into this for anything except your love for music, so to get to this point is kind of surreal. When you give it everything you’ve got and make sacrifices, to be recognized by fans, the industry and fellow artists, it really means the world. I grew up watching the CMAs and looking forward to those performances every year. It was the Super Bowl of music in a way for me. So I feel blessed to be at this point.”

“Like A Cowboy,” which Houser wrote with Brice Long, highlights the Stoney Creek Records recording artist’s epic voice and sense of drama. The soaring ballad was the fourth in a run of four Top 5 singles from How Country Feels, with the first three – “How Country Feels,” “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight,” and “Goodnight Kiss” -- scoring consecutive No. 1 titles.

“Song of the Year honors the craft of songwriting, which is the foundation of what we do as country artists, so it’s really special to be recognized,” Houser added. “This song means a lot to me personally. It’s one of my favorite songs that I have ever written. It’s a song that I’m proud of and made a huge impact on the live show. And I owe that to country radio for getting it out there for fans to hear."

The song immediately caught the attention of critics when it was released, evoking a long-ago time in country music but doing it in a thoroughly modern way. Taste of Country touted that “Like A Cowboy” is “for country fans who just like to hear a great vocalist at his best. The song is a pure, unencumbered vocal showcase.”

Houser’s latest single, “We Went,” is climbing the charts and has a smokin’ fun video that features car chases, romantic moments and a little Robin Hood action. It is the first taste of new music from a forthcoming album, which will be his fourth overall and second for Stoney Creek Records.

Houser will kick off his first headlining arena tour, aptly called the We Went Tour, with Frankie Ballard and special guest Craig Campbell in mid-November after a summer spent on a star-making turn opening for Luke Bryan to universal praise. The We Went Tour tour will kick off Nov. 20 in Corbin, Kentucky.

Friday, Nov. 20 – The Arena - Corbin, Ky.

His current single and fourth off the album, “Like A Cowboy,” continues its steady climb up the charts as it nears the Top 5 on both Billboard and Mediabase charts this week.

PRESS RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 24, 2014) – Taking a page from classic western film sagas like Tombstone and Arizona, chart-topping country star Randy Houser is bringing fans a music video for his new single, “Like A Cowboy,” that is as visually epic as Houser’s vocal performance is powerful. Acclaimed film director Dustin Rikert helmed the project, which will premiere exclusively on CMT and CMT.com this Saturday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m. ET / 9:00 a.m. CT.

Houser spent a week shooting at multiple locations in Tucson, Ariz., including famed Old Tucson Studios, where many major western films have been shot including Arizona, McLintock!, Three Amigos, Tombstone and more. Under Rikert’s direction, a cast and crew of more than 75 people (including William Shockley of “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” fame and Tim Murphy from “Sons of Anarchy”) and 50 head of cattle came together for the multi-day shoot, bringing the 1800’s period piece to life with “Like A Cowboy” as its soundtrack.

Watch the “Like A Cowboy” video trailer now at http://smarturl.it/likeacowboytrailer.

“I really wanted to give [fans] as much as I could possibly give them for a music video and I feel like this song really leant itself to do something unique and special, something that looks just a little beyond where we’ve been,” said Houser.

Like A Cowboy” is the fourth single from Houser’s Stoney Creek Records album How Country Feels, which has yielded three consecutive No. 1 smashes with the title track, “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” and “Goodnight Kiss.” Houser wrote the ballad with Brice Long and has received rave reviews for his outstanding vocals, with Country Weekly saying, “Randy Houser is one of the finest male vocalists the community has ever welcomed. The authenticity in his voice reveals itself in that he sings with the same growl and drawl with which he speaks” and Taste of Country adds, “‘Like a Cowboy’ is another vocal gem that’s both romantic and dangerous. One feels his conflicted emotions, which are a perfect fit for the ballad.”

In addition to premiering the “Like A Cowboy” video this Saturday, CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown will air a taped performance of the song as Houser and Eckrich, the makers of naturally hardwood smoked sausage and savory deli meats, show their support for military families and Operation Homefront with a rooftop celebration at the Country Music Hall of Fame® in Nashville. The new episode of Hot 20 Countdown will air at 11:00 a.m. ET / 10:00 a.m. CT on June 28, after the video premiere.

Houser is currently touring with Brad Paisley on the Country Nation World Tour and continues to perform his own headlining dates across the country. For more information and the latest updates, visit www.RandyHouser.com or follow on Twitter and Facebook.
