SUNNY SWEENEY PREMIERES “MY BED” VIDEO ON CMT AND CMT.COM ON MARCH 24

Sweeney’s heart-wrenching duet with Will Hoge is the second single off her third studio album Provoked

PRESS RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (March 24, 2015) – Sunny Sweeney, known for unapologetically real lyrics, bears it all in her vulnerable new single “My Bed,” featuring Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Will Hoge. Sweeney will release the “My Bed” music video as the first video off her album Provoked, and it will premiere exclusively on CMT and CMT.com today, March 24, beginning in the 6 a.m. ET hour. Check out the video here.

Directed by Michael Poncé, the video gives an intimate look into the deterioration of a marriage, portrayed by Sweeney and Hoge. The video features flashback video clips of romantic, happy moments juxtaposed against current footage of the couple as distance grows between them.

“Obviously, I love a song if I’ve ever recorded it. But, not everything becomes a single and even fewer singles become a video,” explained Sweeney. “Will [Hoge]’s vocals really took this song to another level in the studio and now his performance on camera is piercingly captivating for me. Director Michael Poncé captured our vision for this song and we had a great day making this video.”

"Sunny has one of the finest voices around,” expressed Hoge. “I love her songs and how they always seem to paint a picture. The video perfectly captures the true sadness of a relationship falling apart right before your eyes. She's also someone I consider a close friend so the opportunity to get to work with her on this track was an absolute no brainer for me.”

“My Bed” is the second single from Sweeney’s critically acclaimed third studio album, Provoked, which was named as one of the Top 10 Country Albums of 2014 by Rolling Stone.

“It was a great experience working with Sunny and Will on the video for ‘My Bed’,” said Poncé. “Their chemistry together really brought the song and lyrics to life during their performance."

Alan Cackett, editor of Maverick Magazine, gave Provoked rave reviews, writing: "Excellent songwriting abounds ... each song is made with nuggets of intelligent original creativity, and the rootsy production perfectly captures the essence of the songs. It sounds like real, handmade country music, from some world-class makers."

The Washington Post notes, “On her third album, Sweeney sings about lonely hearts, cheating hearts and busted hearts with her chin up, proving she still belongs alongside Miranda Lambert and Gretchen Wilson on Nashville's A-list of no-guff-takers" and No Depression observes that Sweeney “gives voice to a reality lovers often can’t bring themselves to acknowledge — that the intimacy between them has hardened into strangeness.”

Sweeney just came off the road with Miranda Lambert where she opened for select dates on Lambert’s Certified Platinum Tour. The run included a hometown show at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas where Amy McCarthy of The Dallas Observer called Sweeney “an artist who deserves the same type of fame that Lambert has achieved after working it out for years on Texas' stages. [. . .] Sweeney's similar badass Texas girl brand is infectious and enjoyable to listen to... If there has ever been stronger proof that Texas grows the most badass women on the planet than this bill, I'll eat my hat.”

Sweeney is the only female to take the top spot in the last 10 years on the Texas Music Charts, with her last single “Bad Girl Phase.” The single was named No. 12 on Rolling Stone’s Best Country Songs of 2014.

SINGLE REVIEW: "MY BED" - SUNNY SWEENEY FEATURING WILL HOGE

SINGLE: "My Bed"
ARTIST: Sunny Sweeney featuring Will Hoge

Sunny Sweeney and Will Hoge paint a graphically depressing picture of a couple trapped inside a marriage who can’t find their way out.  They’re so unbelievably lost surrounded by each other and isolation, they don’t know how to function.  As always with Sunny Sweeney and Will Hoge those vocals are crack addictive.  Together they amplify each other, in terms of vocal talent and pure addictiveness.  Such a strange conundrum because this has to be the most heart-wrenching single of the early year and definitely one of the most I’ve heard in a while but as it’s Sunny Sweeney and Will Hoge there’s no way that’s getting turned off.  Stuck to your computer, phone, radio or some source of music, oh the things you’ll be late for.  I’m sorry I just could not wrench myself away had to hear it at least a few more times.  They’ll understand when they hear it and you’ll never get back to that meeting or whatever your intended plan was.  Inches away and worlds apart, they’d rather be “anywhere else instead” and it’s just some random stranger “sleepin’ in my bed.”  The intimacy is gone, the hearts scarred over and anything that remained is long-dead.  Now all it is is the hopeful evasion until lights out, careful don’t touch.  The questions asked are “Why ain’t this over yet?” and repeated throughout the song, “Where did we go wrong?”  There’s no light to be seen at the end of the tunnel here, they’ve fallen so deep it seems impossible for them to even start the climb out.  Neither willing to help nor hurt the other, they remain locked in a numbing, loveless limbo, trying to ignore it until morning light comes and they can rise to avoid each other another day.

SUNNY SWEENEY RELEASES SEXY, SCORCHING HOT SINGLE WITH WILL HOGUE

My Bed” is the second release of Sweeney’s critically acclaimed album “Provoked”

PRESS RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Monday, Feb. 2 – After concluding 2014 with countless accolades from some of music’s toughest critics, country songstress Sunny Sweeney is back with what just could be one of her most gut-wrenching ballads yet. A duet with GRAMMY-nominated artist Will Hoge, “My Bed” tells the story of a couple just going through the motions, sleeping in the same bed but not knowing a thing about one another anymore.

Written alongside Pistol Annies members Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, “My Bed” once again shows Sweeney at her very finest and serves as a worthy follow-up to her 2014 hit “Bad Girl Phase”, which landed on Rolling Stone’s “25 Best Country Songs of 2014.” It also serves as another impressive cut on the Texas native’s latest album “PROVOKED”, in which The Washington Post says Sweeney “proved that she still belongs alongside Miranda Lambert and Gretchen Wilson on Nashville’s A-list of no-guff-takers,” and was heralded as the No. 9 Country Album of 2014 by Rolling Stone.

Not only has Sweeney been making waves with her critically acclaimed music, lately Sweeney’s acts of patriotism have been making headlines as well. In Oct. 2014, Sweeney showed her appreciation for those serving overseas by posting a photo on Facebook of a man praying over a soldier, which Sweeney witnessed in the Las Vegas airport en route to a gig. The post went viral, landing on Buzzfeed’s “Top 50 Facebook Shares of 2014” and reaching the soldier, himself. A few months later, Sweeney once again took to social media to help find the owners of an Iraq war Army veteran’s ring that one of her family members found in Natchez, Mississippi.

Sweeney was successful in finding the ring’s owner, explaining that she was ecstatic to hear from the veteran’s fiancé. She told Fox News, “[The veteran] messaged me and he was like, 'You don't even understand. In two days, it's the 10 year anniversary of my ship date to Iraq.' And the day they got the ring in the mail, was his exact ship date," said Sweeney. "I'm not all earthy and stuff, but you really truly can't write that stuff."

Sweeney, who is married to an Austin City police officer, is a large supporter of law enforcement and the troops and says she strives to do whatever she can to provide support for those who fight for our country.

Sweeney will join Miranda Lambert’s Certified Platinum Tour in March; for a full list of tour dates, visit http://www.sunnysweeney.com/tour/. For more information on Sunny Sweeney, visit SunnySweeney.com or follow her on Twitter and Instagram @GettinSweenered and on Facebook @OfficialSunnySweeney.
