RISING SINGER/SONGWRITER CONNOR DALY RELEASES NEW SINGLE "AIN'T GOT A CAPE"

Connor Daly, the rising singer-songwriter known for his evocative lyrics and tender vocals, has just released his latest single, “Ain’t Got A Cape.” The song, written by Daly, produced by William Gawley, and engineered and mixed by Bryce Roberts, is now available on all major streaming platforms here. The track was recorded at The Castle Studio, Dark Horse, and Omni Sound Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. (Drums/Wayne Killius)(Bass/Dave Francis and Dave Spicher)(Acoustic Guitars/Pat McGrath, David Flint and Connor Daly)(Electric Guitar/David Flint and Mike Durham)(Mandolin/David Flint and Deanie Richardson)(Fiddle/Deanie Richardson)(Piano/Keys/Chris Nole)(Background Vocals/Wendy Newcomer)(Mastered by Mike Monseur with Axis Audi)

Filmed in cooperation with the Ashland City Police and Fire Department, the official music video for “Ain’t Got A Cape,” adds a visual narrative to the heartfelt ballad and was produced by Charlotte Avenue Entertainment.

"Ain’t Got a Cape" is a song about love, loss, and the painful acknowledgment of one's limitations in the face of another's struggles. In "Ain’t Got a Cape," Daly captures the crispness of Fall and the bittersweet memories of a past love. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of changing seasons, both in nature and in the heart. The narrator reflects on a relationship where their partner needed saving, but they couldn’t be the hero to prevent the fall. The imagery of leaves falling from trees symbolizes the inevitable end of something beautiful yet fragile. The chorus poignantly realizes that, despite the longing to be a savior, some battles are too heavy to carry alone. The song's melancholy tone is woven through memories of shared moments by the old rail tracks, where love once thrived but now lingers like a ghost in the cold air.

Raised in Northern Virginia, Daly grew up playing sports and music. He was the Virginia High School (5A) state champion in discus, earning a spot on the track and field team at George Mason University, where he competed throughout college. Alongside his athletic pursuits, he played classical guitar, developing a cascading fingerpicking style that shines through in his songs today. After his first year in college, Daly turned to songwriting more fully, and in 2019 recorded some demos and fell in love with “the process of bringing my own songs to life.”

Now at 25, with more than 100 songs in his catalog, he continues to develop his craft. Daly released multiple singles throughout 2023 and has performed regularly in local venues near his home in Fairfax and at songwriter rounds in Nashville. With musical influences including Jason Isbell, Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers, and Ed Sheeran, Daly has cultivated a knack for delivering his songs with emotional resonance.

This summer, Daly will release his debut album, Colors Fade, featuring acoustic-driven arrangements with poetic stories that cross the full spectrum of human experience.

ANA CRISTINA CASH UNVEILS HEARTFELT NEW SINGLE "WINTER" IN COLLABORATION WITH CAITLIN EVANSON

Pre-save "Winter" here

Singer-songwriter Ana Cristina Cash is thrilled to announce the release of her latest song, "Winter." This emotionally charged track is a captivating duet with fellow artist Caitlin Evanson and holds profound significance for both performers. Originally penned by renowned songwriter Tori Amos, Cash and Evanson have infused their unique essence into the song.

"Winter" serves as a moving meditation on the passage of time and underscores the importance of treasuring the moments shared with loved ones.

In a recent statement, Ana Cristina Cash revealed the inspiration behind the song: "Caitlin and I share a deep admiration for Tori Amos and her iconic 'Little Earthquakes' album. While in the studio one day, we decided to embark on a collaborative journey by duetting on 'Winter.' We were drawn to the song's emotional depth and its poignant reflection on the fleeting nature of time. It reminds us to cherish every moment, as things will never be the same as they once were. The song evokes imagery of a father and a daughter, from their youthful days creating memories in the snow to the future when the father is frail and aged. We recorded this song several months ago, but it took on a whole new meaning for me when my own father faced serious health complications this year. Music is a powerful means of expressing emotions, and 'Winter' is incredibly special to us."

Ana Cristina Cash's soulful vocals, complemented by Caitlin Evanson's harmonious contribution, deliver a spellbinding interpretation of this timeless composition. "Winter" stands as a heartfelt tribute to the enduring bonds of family and the inevitability of change.

"Winter" features an impressive lineup of musicians, including Ana Cristina Cash on vocals, Caitlin Evanson on vocals, acoustic guitar, and violin, Derrek Phillips on drums and percussion, Byron House on bass, and Matt Combs on violin, viola, and cello. The production team includes John Carter Cash, Ana Cristina Cash, Caitlin Evanson, and Trey Call, while the recording and mixing took place at The Cash Cabin in Hendersonville, TN, engineered by Trey Call with assistance from Joseph Cash. The mastering was skillfully done at True East Mastering by Alex McCollough. The accompanying music video credits include Joseph Cash as the director, Isaac Cox as the assistant camera operator, and Austin Williams as the production assistant.

DIAMOND RIO ANNOUNCES NEW VIDEO "THE KICK" WITH TWO NEW MEMBERS

Listen to “The Kick” here

Known for making timeless country music for over thirty years, Diamond Rio is thrilled to announce the release of their latest video and song, “The Kick.” The highly anticipated instrumental track not only showcases the Grammy award-winning band’s talents, but also signifies a new chapter in their distinguished career with the introduction of two new bandmates.

The formation that became known as the six-time Vocal Group of the Year, Diamond Rio, was formed in 1989 and consisted of Marty Roe (lead vocals), Jimmy Olander (guitar/banjo), Dana Williams (bass/vocals), Dan Truman (piano), Brian Prout (drums), and Gene Johnson (mandolin/vocals), and up until recently have had no member changes. After a remarkable 33-year journey, the band bid farewell to retiring members, Brian Prout and Gene Johnson, and welcomes new bandmates, Carson McKee (fiddle/harmony vocals) and Micah Schweinsberg (drums).

“The Kick,” is the first song and video to be released under the new band configuration and displays the mastery of their respective instruments as it delivers a captivating blend of country meets bluegrass. The fast-paced and musically intriguing instrumental features the two new members in the accompanying music video filmed in Franklin, TN. The video was directed by the band’s drummer and new member Micah Schweinsberg. The band’s long-time guitar player, Jimmy Olander, developed and wrote the treatment.

Marty, Jimmy, Dan, and Dana have been sharing the stage with two new faces, Micah Schweinsberg on drums and Carson McKee on fiddle/mandolin and harmony vocals. “Micah is an unbelievable musician. He brings renewed energy to our live performances,” says Roe. Over the years, Micah had subbed in at various shows and developed a friendship that would ultimately land him the open position. “Being in Diamond Rio, for me, is the story of a young musician who eventually got to be in his favorite band. I have admired the talent of Diamond Rio for over 30 years. I tell people constantly that I’ll always be a fan of this band first, whether I’m in it or not,” shares Schweinsberg.

“Carson was not what we were looking for to start. We wanted another Gene, but that doesn’t exist. Carson is an amazing young musician and we are so lucky to have her. She can sing as high as Gene, which was hard to find, and her vocals blend so well with mine and Dana’s. She also brings an energy to the stage that keeps us old guys on our toes,” says Roe. Carson got the call to sub for Gene while preparing for six college exams and only four days to learn the show. She gladly jumped at the opportunity to play with one of her favorite bands. “Let me just say that Gene Johnson, you are my hero. Growing up, you were my hero, will always be my hero, and have left a mighty big footprint in this industry. I am honored and humbled with the chance to try and do your part the justice it deserves. You left some very high standards.”

Marty Roe reflects on the band changes, “Brian is the most musical drummer I’ve ever played with and Gene brought a uniqueness that will never be fully replaced. Diamond Rio’s vocal sound would not be the same without him. I will forever be grateful for the priceless contributions of my two partners. We all wish them well in their retirement.”

BARBARA MANDRELL TO RECEIVE 2023 CRB ARTIST CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

To be honored at the Country Radio Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
July 10 at Virgin Hotel Nashville

The Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. has announced legendary country music artist Barbara Mandrell as the 2023 CRB Artist Career Achievement Award recipient. Mandrell will be honored during the Country Radio Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, set for July 10 at the Virgin Hotel Nashville.
CRB/CRS Board President Kurt Johnson comments, “We are honored to present the Artist Career Achievement Award to Barbara Mandrell, a true icon in the music industry. Her incredible talent, dedication, and passion have inspired generations of artists and fans alike. It is a privilege to recognize her outstanding contributions and celebrate her remarkable career.”

Barbara Mandrell's exceptional musical talent was evident from a young age. Born into a musical family in Houston, Texas, she began playing the accordion before she could even read and was a steel guitar prodigy by the age of eleven. Her incredible abilities caught the attention of "Uncle" Joe Maphis, who invited her to join his show at the Showboat Hotel in Las Vegas after seeing her perform at a trade show. This led to touring with The Johnny Cash Show and embarking on a successful tour across Asia with her family band.

Despite stepping away from the music industry after marrying in 1967, Mandrell's passion for music never waned. She returned to the stage as a solo artist and went on to achieve great success in Nashville, scoring a series of No.1 hits and becoming one of the most-awarded country acts in history. Along with her sisters, she also had a celebrated television career that began in the 1980s with the NBC variety show, Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters.

Mandrell officially retired from the music industry in 1997 and has since been inducted into multiple halls of fame for her remarkable career, unyielding faith, and love of country. Despite the demands of show business, she remains true to her love of God, family, and country, and is truly the embodiment of a consummate entertainer.

The CRB Career Achievement Award is presented to an individual artist or act who has made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of country radio and country music through their leadership, engagement, and creativity. Previous Artist Career Achievement recipients include Trisha Yearwood, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Vince Gill, Randy Travis, George Strait, and the Judds, among others.

Also set to be honored during the Country Radio Hall of Fame are six exceptional radio professionals - four off-air broadcasters and two on-air personalities. Pam Green, Charlie Morgan, Wade Jessen, and John Willyard are among the distinguished off-air honorees, while Trish Biondo and Dollar Bill Lawson are recognized for their outstanding on-air contributions.

JAY ALLEN RELEASES POWERFUL MUSIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "NO PRAYER LIKE MAMA'S"

Jay Allen, has released a music video for his latest single, "No Prayer Like Mama's." The emotional video, directed by Tessa and Dustin Sturm and produced by Southern Pictures.

In the video, Jay is seen singing by an altar filled with candles and a picture of his mother, who passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2019. The heartwarming video features clips of mothers cheering on their children during tee-ball games and walking them down the aisle, depicting the unconditional love that a mother has for her children.

Written by Jay Allen and Justin Morgan, "No Prayer Like Mama's" is a tribute to the love and sacrifice of mothers. The song was born out of Allen's own experience of losing his mother to Alzheimer's disease and serves to honor the memory of all mothers who have dedicated their lives to their children, even in the face of adversity. The track is available across all streaming platforms here.

Jay comments, "That process was a difficult journey, but now I find strength in believing that my mom is still with me. I hope this song brings honor to both mothers in heaven and those still with us."

Growing up near Cedar Falls, Iowa, Allen was influenced by the music he heard from his father at rock concerts and his mother, who would sing country tunes on long car rides. Allen attributes his love for country music to his mother, ultimately leading him to move to Nashville in 2013. He signed a publishing deal in 2014 and an artist deal with SONY/ATV in 2016. JAY ALLEN DROPS COVER OF ICONIC ROCK HIT BY THREE DOORS DOWN - "HERE WITHOUT YOU"

Singer-songwriter Jay Allen, who was a contestant on Season 22 of NBC's The Voice, has recently dropped a new cover of "Here Without You," a hit single by the iconic American rock band, 3 Doors Down. The track captures the emotional struggle of being apart from a loved one for an extended period of time, and the yearning to be reunited with them once more. Fans can now listen to Allen's rendition of "Here Without You" on all major streaming platforms here.

Allen spoke on his newly released cover, saying “Songs like this were the soundtrack to my high school and college years and are very nostalgic for me. I’m known for a cause and my heartfelt side, which I will always keep at the forefront, but I feel it’s time to start unveiling the other parts of me and how songs like this have inspired my artistry. I’m “what you see is what you get” — tattoos, all black, muscle, cars, loving life, and always seeking out a good time. I’m also very proud of the upbeat and energetic live show that I’ve cultivated on the road over the last 5 years. I figure, what better way to open the door to the “what’s next” for me than to cover one of my favorite songs by one of the greatest bands of all time.”

Jay Allen is known for his advocacy against Alzheimer's, a cause that is close to his heart after losing his mother to the disease. Now, he's ready to share more of his personal story. At 10 years old, he recalls his dad taking him to a Styx concert, ultimately leading to his love for rock n roll. During his teenage years, Allen became a fan of bands like Bush, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Matchbox Twenty. That era of alternative rock, intertwined with his and his mother's shared love for country music, led to Jay's unique sound that equally encompasses both genres. The unveiling of "what's next" for Allen is introduced now with his vocally powerful rendition of "Here Without You."

Back in July 2003, 3 Doors Down released "Here Without You," which climbed the charts to reach No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November of the same year. The song went on to earn double-platinum certification in the U.S. and enjoyed worldwide success, peaking at No. 2 in Australia and cracking the Top 10 in Denmark, New Zealand, and The Netherlands.

JAY ALLEN PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE POWER OF A MOTHER'S LOVE WITH NEW SINGLE "NO PRAYER LIKE MAMA'S"

New Single Out Now - Listen Here

Jay Allen has released his latest single, "No Prayer Like Mama's," through ONErpm. The new single is a touching tribute to the strength and devotion of a mother's love and is available now on streaming services worldwide.

Inspired by Jay Allen's own journey, "No Prayer Like Mama's" is a tribute to the love and sacrifice of mothers. The song was born out of Allen's own experience of losing his mother to Alzheimer's disease and serves to honor the memory of all mothers who have dedicated their lives to their children, even in the face of adversity. The lyrics pay homage to the endless prayers that mothers offer for their children, from their earliest moments to when they've reached adulthood, capturing the beauty and power of that love that can transcend time and distance.

Allen spoke about the song, saying “’No Prayer Like Mama’s’ was written after grieving the loss of my own mother. That process was a difficult journey, but now I find strength in believing that she’s still with me. I hope this song brings honor to both mothers in heaven and those still with us.”

Growing up near Cedar Falls, Iowa, Allen was influenced by the music he heard from both his father at rock concerts and his mother, who would sing country tunes on long car rides. Showcases his down-to-earth mentality, country roots, and passion
for country music and America

Colton James has released his new EP titled America. The EP features previously released tracks “I Miss America,” a patriotic anthem about the America he knows and loves, and “Ring On Her Finger,” a love ballad dedicated to his wife. America is available to stream here.

The EP was recorded at Starstruck Studios and Ocean Way Studio and is produced by Colton, the late Kim Tribble, and Jimmy Nichols. Colton also co-wrote six of the seven songs.

Colton commented on the release of his debut EP, saying, “I have always said music is the voice of the soul, and I couldn’t be happier to share this music with the world. As a painter paints with a brush, a songwriter paints with a pen. I hope the picture I painted in these seven songs puts a smile on your face and a proud feeling in your heart to be American. It was an honor to work with all that made this EP possible.”

Colton James’ country roots run deep and were developed at a young age. What started as a truck ride to the fishing hole became a lifestyle. In the front seat of his father’s truck, Colton was introduced to legends like George Jones, Keith Whitley, George Strait, and Merle Haggard. He discovered his love for music through both of his grandmothers, who played piano and organ, and his singing abilities came from his mother.
His music showcases his down-to-earth mentality, country roots, and passion for country music and America. Colton has opened for established artists like Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Toby Keith, John Pardi, and Jason Aldean in his career.
Colton also has plenty of upcoming projects in the works, including partnering up with Rick Dawson, owner of 2022 Kentucky Derby-winning thoroughbred Rich Strike, to launch RedSunset Entertainment, a Nashville-based upstart multimedia company. It is set to produce records, television, radio programming, and more.
Other projects include a show combining fishing, music, and food from across the globe titled Reel Water Cowboy. It will also have an accompanying radio show. Along with this, Colton is also working to bring the Land 4 Heroes Lodge, a 15,000-square-foot building that will aid and help veterans by giving them a resting place to break bread and visit with others in Southampton County, Virginia. Colton describes it as a place where "stories are told, memories are shared, and new ones are made."

Colton expresses why he loves making music, saying, “I do it for the love of my family, for the love of my friends, for the love of my country, but mostly for the love of God. Without God, I wouldn’t be here.“

COLTON JAMES RELEASES MUSiC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "I MISS AMERICA" - OUT NOW

Country singer and songwriter Colton James has released his music video for his single “I Miss America.” The video represents the heart of America and the things that comprise it: veterans, family values, and hard work.

Produced by Colton and Jimmy Nichols, written by Colton and Rick Dawson, and mixed by Steve Marcantonio, “I Miss America” recalls simpler times gathering around Grandma’s table for Sunday lunch with friends and family and working sunup to sundown.

Colton speaks on the release of the music video, saying, “We had a lot of fun shooting the video and made some new friends along the way. We hope that it brings people together in our country and puts a smile on their faces to be proud Americans. We hope they realize our best days are ahead, and together, we can get through anything as one nation.”

Rick Dawson, the owner of 2022 Kentucky Derby-winning thoroughbred Rich Strike, commented on the writing process of “I Miss America,” saying, “Colton and I gathered at my table and wrote the song in a couple of hours. However, Colton and I were not alone, as there were others in spirit pushing our pens for us.”

On January 20, 2023, Colton plans to release his debut EP, America, which will include “I Miss America” and other nationalist anthems that speak for the love of his country and those who have fought for it.

Colton also has plenty of upcoming projects in the works, including a show combining fishing, music, and food from across the globe titled Reel Water Cowboy. It will also have an accompanying radio show. Along with this, he is working to bring the Land 4 Heroes Lodge, a 15,000-square-foot building that will aid and help veterans while giving them a resting place to break bread and visit with others.

LEGENDARY ARRANGER, MUSIC DIRECTOR AND "NASHVILLE CAT", BILL WALKER PASSES AWAY AT 95

Successful arranger, music director, and "Nashville Cat" Bill Walker passed away yesterday, May 26, 2022, at 95 years old.

Throughout his prolific career, Walker worked with some of Country music's most iconic artists, including Johnny Cash, Eddy Arnold, the Statler Brothers, Chet Atkins, Ray Charles, Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Ann-Margret, and many more

He was widely known for his role as the musical director on the Johnny Cash Show on ABC. Throughout the '70s and '80s, Walker concentrated primarily on writing, arranging, and conducting music for network and syndicated television. Among his credits are 15 years of the CMA Awards Show for CBS-TV, Perry Como And His Nashville Friends, Nashville Remembers Elvis On His Birthday, The Grand Ole Opry At 50, Lynn Anderson & Tina Turner In Nashville, Ann-Margret’s Rhinestone Cowgirl, Opryland In Russia, That Great American Gospel Sound (with Tennessee Ernie Ford and Della Reese), Conway Twitty: On the Mississippi, The Tenth Anniversary Of The Reopening of Ford’s Theater, The Music City News Cover Awards Show (also for 15 years), A Celebration Of Country Music At Ford’s Theater (a two-hour special for President Jimmy Carter), Crystal [Gayle] In Sweden and George Burns In Nashville.

Walker is credited for having arranged and conducted music for shows attended by three American presidents.

As a record producer, arranger and/or conductor, he earned gold records for Eddy Arnold's "Make the World Go Away," "Turn The World Around," "Misty Blue," and "What's He Doing In My World"; Bobby Vinton's "Roses Are Red (My Love)" and "My Elusive Dreams"; Roy Clark's "Come Live With Me," Jim Reeves' "From a Jack to a King"; Sammi Smith's "Help Me Make It Through the Night"; Marty Robbins' "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife"; Johnny Cash's "Sunday Morning Coming Down"; Bob Dylan's "Copper Kettle" and Nashville Skyline; and Donna Fargo's "The Happiest Girl In The Whole U.S.A." and "Funny Face."

Born April 28, 1927, in Sydney, Australia, William Alfred Walker (Bill Walker) grew up in a musical home. His mother sang, and his father played harmonica. By the time he was five, Walker could play the family piano. After earning his degree at the Sydney University's Conservatorium of Music, Walker took a job with RCA Records at its office in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he arranged cover versions of songs that had already become popular in America.

During his stay in Africa, Walker recorded an impressive 23 albums, including the popular collections Walker' Round The World and Walker' Round The Shows.

Walker's career direction changed dramatically when the mighty Eddy Arnold, one of RCA's loftiest talents, asked him to write arrangements for an album of "uptown country songs." One of those songs was "Make The World Go Away." The song was recorded and released seven times before Arnold cut it. But buoyed by Walker's fresh arrangement, the song vaulted to No. 1 on the country charts and became a Top 10 pop hit. It earned Walker his first gold record and made him a hot commodity on Music Row.

Walker came to Nashville in 1964 to work with Jim Reeves. When Reeves died in a plane crash, Eddy Arnold enlisted Walker's services, and the two worked together through 1968. The following year, Walker joined The Johnny Cash Show as musical director. Cash would end each show by saying "Goodnight, Bill Walker!" The show lasted 58 episodes.

The Cash show was shot in Nashville at the iconic Ryman Auditorium with the Carter Family, Carl Perkins, the Statler Brothers and the Tennessee Three (Bob Wooten, W. S. Holland, and Marshall Grant) serving as Cash’s backup corps. Somehow the resourceful Walker was able to transcend the Ryman’s primitive recording facilities. When Cash debuted Kris Kristofferson’s “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” Walker’s arrangement captured all its spellbinding emotion in that live performance. The record, released in 1970, was a direct transcription from the television show, and yielded Cash a No. 1 country hit.

After Cash's show ended, Walker worked as an independent producer for Capitol Records, masterminding sessions for Roy Rogers, Billy Walker, Ferlin Husky, and Wanda Jackson, among others.

During this time, Walker began working with Donna Fargo. Walker's productions of "The Happiest Girl In The Whole U. S. A." and "Funny Face" took Fargo to #1 and launched her career.

Walker also found time to guest-conduct some of America’s best symphony orchestras, including those in Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Hartford, Phoenix, Tampa, and Boston. He became friends with John Williams, the great movie-theme maestro, when Williams conducted the Boston Pops Orchestra. Walker frequently wrote arrangements for artists performing with the Pops, and sometimes sat in with them as a pianist.

From the late ‘70s, Walker ran his own independent label, Con Brio Records, serving as its talent scout, arranger, and producer. Under his leadership, Con Brio racked up a total of 47 nationally charted singles for such artists as Don King, Dale McBride and Terri Hollowell.

The then-flourishing Nashville Network, with its abundance of musical programming, kept Walker occupied throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s. For seven years he served as music director of The Statler Brothers Show, TNN’s highest-rated series during that period. (Somewhat reminiscent of the Johnny Cash glory days, the Statlers put Walker on camera each week during the gospel segment that closed the show.)

Always eager to explore the new artistic territory, Walker then branched into composing music for movies, which led to him scoring films featuring such respected actors as Kirk Douglas, Tony Franciosa, Robert Mitchum, George Kennedy, and Gregory Peck.

Walker is survived by his wife, singer Jeanine (Ogletree) Walker, daughter Beth Walker, son Colin Walker, sister Julianne Smith, brother Robert Walker, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Walker was predeceased by his son, Music Row leader and AristoMedia Group Founder, Jeff Walker, son Peter Walker, and daughter Lisa Gibson.

Details surrounding the service will be released.
