Billboard, the renowned music industry authority, has named Jason Crabb's performance with Gloria Gaynor as one of the six best moments during the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of the documentary, I Will Survive.

Billboard called the collaboration on “Singin' Over Me” a ‘stunning duet' and highlighted it and Crabb's involvement with Gloria as some of the best moments during the event and film. The documentary features several minutes of Crabb's involvement and recording sessions with Gaynor during the creation of her GRAMMY® winning recording, Testimony.

The performance took place during Gaynor's mini-concert after the premiere and was a surprise to attendees during the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday, June 9, 2023.

The Betsy Schechter produced and directed documentary recounts Gloria Gaynor’s life while also chronicling her comeback journey. It is both a moving story of an artist’s resilience and a behind-the-scenes look at the music industry.

The Tribeca Film Festival, a prominent annual event that celebrates the best of independent cinema, showcased a diverse range of captivating films and memorable experiences. Crabb joined Gaynor at the film festival along with other celebrities such as Tracee Ellis Ross, Nick Jonas, Jon Hamm, Alicia Silverstone, Oscar De La Hoya, Mario Lopez, Mark Wahlberg, Milli Vanilli, and more.

Gaynor and Crabb struck up an unlikely friendship several years ago due to a chance encounter on Twitter.

Seven years ago, Jason Crabb was about to make his solo Carnegie Hall debut. Gloria Gaynor followed him on Twitter. Crabb did not believe it was her. He called his publicist to confirm her identity and then messaged the disco icon on Twitter and asked if she would like to be his guest at his Carnegie Hall debut. Gaynor responded “yes.” As they visited in the dressing room, she said it was a bucket list item for her to play Carnegie Hall, and Crabb couldn’t believe she had never played Carnegie Hall. So, Crabb surprised her that night, and pulled her on stage to sing “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” with him. As a result, Crabb helped Gaynor check off an item on her bucket list. That was back on June 4, 2016. Now, seven years later - almost to the day – Crabb joined Gaynor at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Crabb is currently touring in support of his latest hit and EP, Good Morning Mercy.

Crabb shared highlights on his Instagram Reels, posting videos and photos
from the memorable evening.

KENNY CHESNEY NAMED ONE OF BILLBOARD'S TOP 5 TOURING ACTS OF 2015

Only Country Act Along w Taylor Swift, 1-D, U2 & the Stones

Credit: Jill Trunnell

NEW YORK, N.Y. – (Dec. 15, 2015) - When Kenny Chesney took his 2015 The Big Revival Tour on the road, he wanted to rock as many people as humanly possible. With just 57 dates, albeit 23 stadiums, the man The Wall Street Journal called “The King of the Road” was the only country act making Billboard’s Top 5 Touring Acts of 2015 – alongside Taylor Swift, One Direction, U2 and the Rolling Stones.

Beyond the dollars, Chesney played to the third highest number of fans – 1,335,022 – after list-topper Swift’s 1,982,076 for 71 shows and No. 2 One Direction's 2,337,938 for 80 shows. Summer after summer, the 4-time Country Music Association and 4-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year remains focused on rocking the No Shoes Nation for all they’re worth.

“Every year when we hit the road, I’m trying to figure out how to bring it harder, play more music and make it a night the people who live their lives in the songs will remember,” says the high-impact songwriter who’s sold in excess of a million tickets each of his 13 headlining tours since 2002. “We’ve been doing this enough years, that you know you have to really bring it to just compete with what you’ve already done. And it’s about the music you’re making now, as well as the ability to bring it when you hit the stage every night.”

Hailed as “Two parts Mick Jagger, one part Bruce Springsteen and one part Billy Graham” by The Dallas Morning News, Chesney’s The Big Revival broke nine records this summer – including several of his own – one being 120,206 fans over two nights at Gillette Stadium, marking his 12th and 13th show at the home of the New England Patriots.

“People want to rock, to have a good time and forget their problems,” Chesney explains. “But they’re not looking to mindlessly spend the night. They come to remember the moments that mattered to them – and maybe make a few more memories in the process – and I’ve been lucky that my songs have reflected how the No Shoes Nation lives their lives on every level.”

Having a new record that yielded four consecutive No. 1’s doesn’t hurt. In addition to the GRAMMY- and CMA-nominated, multiple-week No. 1 “American Kids,” he had “Til It’s Gone,” the CMA Musical Event nominee “Wild Child” with Grace Potter and the three week chart-topper “Save It for a Rainy Day,” all songs that show his creative fire matches his unrelenting passion for his near legendary live shows.

The Big Revival also is the eighth time Chesney has won Top Package at Billboard’s annual Touring Awards. The man, who has brought Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Zac Brown Band and Dierks Bentley out with him, tapped Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Brantley Gilbert, Old Dominion, Cole Swindell and Chase Rice out this summer. His sold out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field with Miranda Lambert inspired Chesney to tap his former tour mate for his upcoming 2016 tour of stadiums, amphitheaters, arenas and a few festivals.

“Making records is incredible,” Chesney offers about the music’s spark. “But it’s onstage where the connection happens and the spark pops. You take the songs out to the fans, and you realize how much they mean. When you bring all you’ve got, and they throw even more energy back at you, there’s nothing like it! We don’t tour for this kind of recognition, but it’s sure nice to know when you have fans as committed as the No Shoes Nation, they’re being recognized for how much they bring to our tours! They fly all over… meet up… and I’m thrilled to be part of it.”

BILLBOARD SPOTLIGHT ON NEW ARTISTS BRANCH AND DEAN

Country duo release touching tribute to member Steve Branch's son, who died this year after battling Cystic Fibrosis

Country music is at its most potent level when its songs are about real life. And the current single from newcomers Branch & Dean is about as real and heartbreaking as you can possibly get. Titled "The Dash," the single is making an emotional impact with listeners all over the country. The song was written about Theron Branch, the son of member Steve Branch, who lost a long battle with Cystic Fibrosis in March.

"When you have the response like we have on this song, it just lets me know that we have done the right thing," Branch told Billboard. "My son gets to live on through this song and our career."

Marlon Dean Scallan says that the lyrics of the song strike a chord with a lot of listeners. "We're guaranteed one breath, then after that, we're all on a time clock. You don't know how long you might have. That's what this song is about. Of course, with Steve's son and his story, it's about taking a tragedy, and maybe somewhat of a silver lining where we can do some good and touch some people's lives."

Steve says that the song picks up Theron's legacy. "My son always liked to help people, any way he could. He had Cystic Fibrosis when he was born, and when he was about ten, they asked if he wanted to be a part of some studies on some new medicines. It could help a lot of people, but it could also hurt him. I had a talk with him, and asked him about it. He was going to get paid a certain amount of money, and I told him 'If you want to do it, that's your money, but don't do it for that -- do it because you want to help somebody. He thought about it for a week, and decided he wanted to do that. The studies did help a lot of people," his father reflected.

Branch & Dean are trying to continue that work, as well. "One of our dreams was to be a spokesperson for them, and we just finalized the paperwork to be National Cystic Fibrosis spokespersons," beamed Scallan. "Part of the single and album proceeds go to them."

The duo have just signed a management deal with Erv Woolsey – who has been the mastermind behind George Strait's legendary career, as well as that of Lee Ann Womack. They are glad to be in such company. "He's had a little bit of success, and he's such a great guy too. It was so surreal when he sealed the deal with a handshake. He said 'This is how me and George did it.' We were in shock. If we have a tenth of his career, how awesome is that," said Scallan.

The two grew up around the same area in Florida, and were very aware of each others' talents. "I always thought if you wanted to be a country singer, you had to sound like Steve Branch. He could do that, and I couldn't. I dove into songwriting. I always looked up to him as a singer, for sure."

Branch recalls that Scallan's mother was one of his early champions. "His mother was one of my teachers, and she was so big in doing things for the community, and still does today. She was judging at a talent contest that I was in. I sang 'Rose Colored Glasses,' the old John Conlee song. I didn't win, but was ok as I thought I had did my best.' I was getting ready to leave, and she stopped me and said 'Were you really singing that song?' I said 'Yes, M'am.' She couldn't believe it, so she told me that she was going to have me singing around the area a lot, and that's what happened.

The two have just released their self-titled debut album, which Scallan says he is very proud of. "One thing we fell into here in Nashville is song people like Michael Huffman, who is such a connoisseur of great songs. So, the bar was really high. We tried to pick great songs, and hopefully time will tell if we were right, but we've had really good response thus far. In my years here, I think a great song is the only thing politics can't touch. Everything else can be very unsure. There's so many pieces that have to work together. But, a great song is the one constant."

Personal note:

Let the video below send the message to your heart how important "the dash" truly is. Take a minute to say hello to the guys on Twitter at @branchanddean. They're the best people. We had the pleasure of spending time with Steve and Dean during CMA Fest at Nixa Country's World's Largest Fan Club Party and once I met them, I knew this was a duo that we would give everything we can to help support. We hope you do the same.

TATE STEVENS' ALBUM MAKES IT'S DEBUT AT #4 ON THE BILLBOARD TOP COUNTRY ALBUMS CHARTS

We have to throw in a "HELL YEAH" on this ... just a note :-)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Wed., May 1, 2013) – The self-titled debut album from FOX’s The X Factor Season 2 winner and Syco Music/RCA Nashville recording artist Tate Stevens has debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart this week. The album, produced by Blake Chancey, features his current single, “Power Of A Love Song.” Stevens co-wrote three songs on the album, which also features such acclaimed songwriters as Carson Chamberlain, Dallas Davidson, Drew Davis, Joe Diffie, Ashley Gorley, Ben Hayslip, Wade Kirby, Shane Minor, David Lee Murphy, and Rivers Rutherford, among others.

“I am so proud of this album and so excited that music fans have chosen to spend their hard-earned money to buy it,” said Stevens. “It has been my life-long goal to record an album that people would enjoy, and to see it debut at No. 4 is truly a dream come true. I am a blessed man and so thankful for all my fans.”

GAC’s Daryl Addison raves, “Tate demonstrates an impressive feel for building tightly-woven and fluid melodies… Tate packs a lot into each vocal performance, the result of which is an album full of introductions to his everyman personality.”

Music critic Chuck Dauphin writes, “what really sets Stevens apart is his way with a ballad. Whether it be on the stunning ‘Ordinary Angels’ or on his current single ‘Power of a Love Song,’” he demonstrates a depth that brings to mind artists such as one of his biggest influences, Garth Brooks. Tate Stevens shows on his debut album that he’s got the talent to be a long-term voice in this business.”

The Hollywood Reporter stated that Stevens “makes a country debut, that….shows he may have what it takes to hang in Nashville.”

Stevens is sure to celebrate his album’s debut tonight (May 1) when he performs at Renegades in West Palm Beach, Fla., and tomorrow (May 2) when he performs at Joyland in Bradenton, Fla. For additional tour dates, visit www.tatestevensofficial.com. Follow him on Twitter at @tatestevensctry.

Eric Church Celebrates Second No. 1, "Springsteen"

ERIC CHURCH CEMENTS SECOND NO. 1 SINGLE, “SPRINGSTEEN,” ON BILLBOARD AND MEDIABASE COUNTRY MUSIC CHARTS

“Springsteen” RIAA-Certified Platinum; Debut Album, Sinners Like Me, Certified Gold

Nashville, TN – His arena-headlining “The Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour,” has sold over 450,000 tickets thus far in 2012, and now Eric Church finds his third single, “Springsteen,” from critically-acclaimed record, CHIEF, topping the charts at No. 1. His prior single, "Drink In My Hand," marked his first career No. 1 record; both songs were co-writes for Church. In addition, "Springsteen" also celebrates over one million in sales this week, officially reaching RIAA Platinum certification as his debut album, Sinners Like Me, reaches Gold status selling over 500,000 copies worldwide.

SPIN Magazine named CHIEF their No. 1 Country Album of 2011 and "The Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour" a Top 20 tour of 2012: “Church offers that rarest of combos — impeccable songwriting and musicianship, plus genuine ornery attitude, and his anthemic, Boss-inspired can of corn, 'Springsteen,' is the finest addition to the doomed exurban-bandana-romance catalog since Steve Earle's I Feel Alright rebirth.” Rolling Stone said, “Name-checking "Born to Run" and "I'm on Fire," the tough North Carolina country singer pays tribute to the Garden State's greatest rocker – and the memories of teenage romance his songs evoke.” American Songwriter added, “It’s about music in general, and the singular ability a pop song has to anchor us to a place and time, no matter how fleeting or carelessly discarded that moment may have been. Which is the genius of “Springsteen,” really.” Maxim proclaimed, “If the American flag could sing, it’d probably sound like this” when referring to the hit.

Church penned the song with bandmate Jeff Hyde, who also co-wrote his hit "Smoke A Little Smoke," and Nashville songwriter Ryan Tyndell. The record was produced by Jay Joyce and has earned 2012 ACM and GRAMMY nominations.

Church, who made his LP Field debut appearance at CMA Music Fest on Saturday night, announced his fall leg of “The Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour” last week with special guests Justin Moore and Kip Moore. Stay tuned to www.ericchurch.com for all details.
