“AMERICA’S DUO” VISITS WITH “THE VOICE OF TENNESSEE”--STEVE GILL

Burns & Poe Share “I Need A Job” • Discuss Song Necessity • Video Contest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 26, 2011) –Blue Steel Records’ Burns & Poe spent yesterday morning (Tuesday, October 25, 2011) with political pundit Steve Gill of The Steve Gill Show to discuss their current single, “I Need A Job,” and introduce the sentiment behind its creation. The single resonates with many Americans who are frustrated with the current state of affairs, most specifically America’s joblessness.

“Steve gets it! We are all in the same boat and if things don’t get better, there is no telling how bad the job situation may get,” Keith Burns explains. “We need to help folks get ‘kick-started” and this is the perfect anthem for their endeavors--a track that demands to be heard!”

“Even in light of the early alarm, we enjoyed spending the morning with Steve,” Michelle Poe added.“It was an enlightening discussion; more often in the conversation, Steve took the words right out of my mouth to help us address an issue that we’ve all seen affect our friends, family and fans firsthand.”

Currently, Tennessee’s unemployment rate is at a staggering 9.8%, and the national rate has been a major concern of many at 9.1%.

Addressing one of America's hottest topics, both politically and socially, Burns & Poe are encouraging one and all to share their personal story or sentiment surrounding the employment issue. The release is supported by their “I Need A Job” video submission competition wherein the winning contestant will be awarded $500, a pair of Dan Post Boots, and a writing session with the duo. Contestants are asked to create their own lyric video of the song "I Need A Job" via photos, graphics or video footage and post to any and all general public web pages and social sites (ex. YouTube, Facebook, etc.). The lyric video with the most views between now and December 1, 2011 will be the lucky filmmaker and potential hit songwriter!

“I Need A Job” is available now on PlayMPE and CDX Vol. 532/9/26/2011. “I Need A Job” (written by Burns and John Ritter) is on radio now!

BURNS & POE JOIN UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE STAFFERS TO REINFORCE “I NEED A JOB” SENTIMENT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 28, 2011)–
In learning via an early morning newscast about the plight of the United States Postal Service workers and their plan to rally nationwide with the hope to save their jobs, Burns & Poe(Keith Burns/Michelle Poe) was moved to lend its voice in their plea.

Postal workers across the country rallied yesterday at various locations with the objective to be heard--sending a message that cutting jobs isn't the answer to solving the budget crisis and that other avenues need to be exhausted before resorting to U.S.P.S job losses. The postal service is currently contemplating the close of thousands of post offices, which would leave more than 100,000 workers without jobs.

In an impromptu appearance to support their cause, Keith Burns appeared at the rally held on Church Street in Nashville, in front of Representative Jim Cooper’s office, to make introductions with postal workers while offering words of encouragement and sharing the sentiment of Burns & Poe’s new and timely single, “I Need A Job.” The song (penned by Burns and John Ritter/Blue Steel Records) speaks on behalf of those who are affected by unemployment and simply want and need to work (not only to make ends meet and feed their families, but to feel a sense of self worth). “I Need A Job” is currently at radio.

The “better half” of Burns & Poe, Michelle Poe, was unable to attend due to her commitment to her own second job.

BURNS & POE INTRODUCE NATIONWIDE CLASSIFIED CAMPAIGN ---“I NEED A JOB”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 14, 2011) –Appealing to the sentiment of many, Blue Steel Records’ Burns & Poe have recently recorded a tune that is certain to speak to all. Written and recorded in all seriousness and some jest,
Keith Burns and Michelle Poe introduce
“I Need A Job.” Addressing one of America’s hottest topics, the track comes “hot off the press” and was conceived as a timely “voice.”

“We have enjoyed unbelievable response when we perform this song live; it’s obvious that it strikes a chord in the heart of our listeners.” Michelle Poe explains. “It's gotten to the point, when talking to fans and friends, where an epidemic of joblessness presents itself. The American Dream, it seems, has been reduced to just making enough money to pay for gas to get to your job and hope it’s still there when you arrive.”

“The song just kind of wrote itself,” Keith Burns adds. “My co-writer, John Ritter, and I knew when we started writing this tune that we were creating a song to voice the frustration, hopelessness and need that many feel. A job means more than just paying the bills; it’s about self-respect, self worth and pride. Working is part of the American way. People don’t want a hand-out, they want a job. It’s not a political issue – it’s an American financial, social and emotional issue.”

Available now on PlayMPE and CDX Vol. 532/9/26/2011, “I Need A Job” (written by Burns and John Ritter) is going for immediate adds. The release will be supported by an “I Need A Job” video submission competition wherein the winning contestant will be employed by the Burns & Poe team for a 30-day period. Details to follow.

The pair, named Music Row Magazine’s “Independent Artist of the Year,” possesses an unparalleled combination of superlative writing augmented with a sound patented by Michelle Poe’s melodious, buttery vocals and Keith Burns’ gritty, soulful, tenor tone. Their self-titled debut 2-disc album was released earlier this year and received high praise from a variety of outlets including Country Weekly; the magazine notes that “the duo exemplifies the magic male-female duos of yesteryear, pairs like George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. Keith Burns and Michelle Poe are a duo for the country music masses.”

Before my life on the road as an entertainer, I spent time on the streets of New York City as a police officer. Every day that I put on that police uniform, I knew I was stepping into a tradition of protecting the men and women of my city. My brothers and sisters on the force did the very same on the morning of September 11, 2001.” Eddie Money explains. “Since the terror attacks on New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania that morning, thousands more men and women have put on their uniforms to protect us. They’ve sacrificed their lives and way of life for us. I really cannot find the words to say how pleased I am to be part of the Heroes Music Festival.”

Celebrating more than forty years of making music, recognized by a wall of platinum albums, Money is credited with a string of Top 40 hits including "Baby Hold On,” "Two Tickets To Paradise” and "Take Me Home Tonight.” In addition to the hits he is known for, he will perform an acoustic version of his new single “One More Soldier Coming Home,” an honorary, sobering and timely tribute that he recorded as a personal dedication to our men and women of service. In an alliance with the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a non-profit organization whose mission is to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed for the United States, Eddie is committed to giving back; he is donating 100% of the proceeds from the single release to the organization.

Robin Meade, popular host of “Morning Express with Robin Meade” on HLN, who has recently released her Billboard charting debut album, BRAND NEW DAY, will kick off the “Rock & Remembrance”schedule of events on Saturday morning (September 10, 2011) with her rendition of our national anthem. During her performance, an American flag nearly the size of the speedway’s entire grandstand seating area will be unfolded; at the conclusion of her performance, A10s and paratroopers will fly overhead.

“It’s an honor to be able to combine my love of music with my love for this country and our brave servicemen and women at this year’s Heroes Music Festival,” said Meade. “To give back with my voice is a privilege and I look forward to joining an amazing line-up of artists to celebrate our military and our freedoms!”

Meade’s debut CD project, produced by Victoria Shaw, highlights six Meade co-writes with Shaw, John Rich, Hall of Fame writer Gary Burr, country recording artist Billy Dean, and Matt Lopez of Due West. No stranger to the stage, Meade has performed with Kenny Chesney, Richard Marx, David Foster, John Rich and pianist Jim Brickman.

The four-day gathering is first-and-foremost “because of” and “for” our men and women of service. Interwoven throughout the entire festival will be dedications and presentations acknowledging local Georgia members of all four branches of the military as well as members of the police and fire departments. Friends and neighbors, from near and far, as well as community organizations will show their spirit: a Veteran Bike Ride is planned for Saturday morning and the 116th Army Guard Ceremonial Band and Hiram High School Honor Guard will present colors. Nearly forty new recruits will be sworn in on-site and, in conjunction with Operation Troop Aid, more than 10,000 care packages will be assembled for distribution to posts overseas. On Saturday evening (September 10), military dignitaries will present the Wounded Warrior Awards; the Army Silver Wings will orchestrate a parachute jump, and Honor Guard and National Guard will hold large-scale, life-like demonstrations.

CD Review: "Burns and Poe" - Burns and Poe

CD: "Burns and Poe"
Artist" Burns and Poe
Release: May 10, 2011
Label: Blue Steel Records

Ok, I'm not gonna say I think Burns and Poe are the Sonny and Cher of country music like everyone else because there's only one Sonny and Cher and honestly, as as duo, they're known more for their cheesiness instead of their music. There's no cheesiness going on with Burns and Poe, but what there is going on are great harmonies, an honest deep country vibe, and a shared vocal style that's a rare sound in today's country.

Keith Burns is one of the original founders of the group "Trick Pony" and has written songs for such artists as Joe Diffie, Hootie and the Blowfish and Sammy Kershaw among others and Michelle Poe was formerly signed to Dreamworks and was a backup vocalist and bass player to such artists as Dierks Bentley and Hank Jr. When they both decided to head out their own and set their sights on solo careers, they found themselves on the same path and it turns out it was a path laid out specifically for them. Burns and Poe were recently recognized by Music Row Radio as "Independent Artist of the Year 2010" and their popularity continues to grow with each note.

This is Burns and Poe's debut cd, a double disc set featuring 14 songs, mainly Burns and Poe originals with the exception of one song composed by other Nashville songwriters. The first two songs released to radio have made waves in the ocean that is country music, "How Long is Long Enough" and "Don't Get No Better Than That". The dual cd release consists of melodious ballads, and light hearted, playful rhythms. The style and blend of these two voices brings to mind great 90's country music, the kind that makes you wanna sweep your partner off their boot clad feet and spin them around a sawdust floor. What a great job of bringing back memories of the times when country music meant something, when people took it seriously and loved every note of it. Thank you to Burns and Poe for that from the heart of a true country music lover. This duo harmonizes with the ease and heart of such timeless pairs as Kenny and Dolly, Conway and Loretta, and the list goes on and on.

If you're a true country fan and love the old style duets, this is the cd for you. I can almost visualize the sawdust on the floor now.

You can pick up your copy of "Burns and Poe" on it's release date, May 10, 2011. Stay tuned for media outlet information.

We’ll fan the flames of an old romance.” Written by the twosome along with Tom Stipe, the mid-tempo tune features a steady percussion beat with electric and acoustic guitars, and finishes strong with stellar piano and guitar solos.

“…is there a more relatable sentiment than hoping for a second chance with someone you love?”Michelle Poe adds. “And you thought I was being a sap?Keith interrupts. “It’s a beautifully romantic notion that we hope strikes a chord with country radio and the listeners,” Michelleconcludes.
