BFD / AUDIUM NASHVILLE AND BLUE HAT RECORDS TO RELEASE SPECIAL EDITION VINYLS OF THREE LEGENDARY CHARLIE DANIELS RECORDINGS

Limited Edition Vinyls Arriving in Time for  2023 Holiday Season
Include Off The Grid: Doin’ It Dylan, Memories,
Memoirs & Miles: Songs of a Lifetime and Night Hawk

Ahead of the 2023 holiday season, BFD / Audium Nashville and Blue Hat Records are releasing several special edition vinyl albums from the late Charlie Daniels. Albums dropping over the next few weeks include Daniels’ Off The Grid: Doin’ It Dylan (Silver vinyl / available Nov. 3), Memories, Memoirs & Miles: Songs of a Lifetime (Orchid Purple vinyl / available Nov. 17) and Night Hawk (Black vinyl / available Nov. 24). Each vinyl is limited to 1,000 individually numbered units available for purchase via The Orchard.

"This is the first wave of Charlie Daniels releases we have strategically mapped out for the next 18 months with many more to come,” explains Bob Frank, CEO / Founder of BFE and Partner for Blue Hat Records. "The archive is vast and we are all thrilled to start this campaign.”

"Along with our partners at BFD, we are excited about the launch of new vinyl releases of some of Charlie's most cherished works," adds David Corlew, Daniels' longtime manager and Blue Hat Records Partner. "These projects were so special to Charlie as he paid tribute to some of Dylan's wonderful songs, as well as sharing the music and lifestyle he so dearly loved, the life of the working cowboy. This bed of work offers a broad stroke of Charlie's musical creativity, with beautiful packaging by Erick Anderson. These are a must for anyone's vinyl collection.”

Off the Grid: Doin' It Dylan is a tribute album to Bob Dylan. The album of Dylan covers was released in 2014. When Daniels first moved to Nashville, he played guitar on three of Dylan's albums, which were recorded there. Daniels attributed playing on these albums for helping him learn about the music business and especially for showing him how to lead his own band. He noted that Dylan had a sense of freedom and that he let the musician play the way he wanted to, instead of telling him how to play.

Night Hawk was originally released in 2016. The album is Daniels' take on classic cowboy country, honoring tales told by cowboys around a campfire, with a mixture of re-worked classics, as well as more obscure tunes.

Originally released in 2017, Daniels’ Memories Memoirs & Miles: Songs of a Lifetime contains some of his biggest hit songs including “Long Haired Country Boy,” “Still in Saigon,” “Simple Man,” The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” “Uneasy Rider” and more. Daniels dedicated the album to Russell Palmer, the man and friend who taught him his first guitar chord.

#COUNTRYGIVESBACK - THE CHARLIE DANIELS JOURNEY HOME PROJECT DONATES $25,000 TO UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE'S VETERANS SUCCESS CENTER

The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP) presented the Veterans Success Center at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a $25,000 donation on Tuesday, March 22.

TCDJHP board members David Corlew, co-founder of the organization and manager for the late Charlie Daniels, and Major General Terry “Max” Haston (retired) visited the center to meet with student veterans. They also attended the Tennessee vs. Butler home baseball game for a check presentation with Jayetta Rogers, director of the Veterans Success Center, and Leonard Clemons, associate vice provost for Student Success.

"Continuing education has and continues to be an important step in the reintegration of many returning veterans,” explains Corlew. "Charlie had a close relationship with the University of Tennessee, so it’s our mission to support our veterans that are pursuing their educational needs. The Veterans Success Center is growing daily with Jayetta and the team, and we are proud to be of assistance in any way possible."

The $25,000 donation will go to the creation of a Veterans Success Institute, student veteran transformational grants, a veteran emergency fund, and technology upgrades. The donation is the third and largest gift UT has received from The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project, and Rogers says she hopes it’s the beginning of a long and meaningful relationship with the organization. “Charlie Daniels was a tremendous supporter of the University of Tennessee, and we are beyond grateful to receive this gift that will enhance the academic, professional, and personal success of our student veterans while at UT,” notes Rogers.

“Ensuring that veteran students have a solid foundation for success is the reason that The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project supports our state universities’ veterans centers. TCDJHP believes that assisting and supporting veterans in obtaining a quality education is a critical phase line in their ‘Journey Home,’” says Haston. “We hope that by contributing to the University of Tennessee Veterans Success Center will start a habit for others to follow ensuring the center’s future.”

THIRD ANNUAL CHARLIE DANIELS PATRIOT AWARDS DINNER RAISES OVER $250,000 FOR U.S. MILITARY VETS

Darryl Worley, Mark "Oz" Geist, MTSU’s Daniels Center and
Marty & Cindy Daniel of Daniel Defense Receive 2021 Patriot Awards

The 3rd annual Charlie Daniels Patriot Awards Dinner raised more than $250,000 last week for our nation’s military veterans. The event, a benefit for the late Country Music Hall of Fame member’s veterans’ non-profit, The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP), was held at The City Winery in Nashville.

The evening featured a live performance by multi-platinum global entertainer Chris Young, special guest speakers and presentations of the 2021 Charlie Daniels Patriot Award to recipients: country star Darryl Worley, decorated military veteran Mark "Oz" Geist (Benghazi survivor and co-author of 13 Hours / U.S. Marine Corps, retired), the Daniels Center at MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University) and firearms manufacturers Marty and Cindy Daniel of Daniel Defense.

Worley, who also performed his patriotic 9-11 No. 1 hit “Have You Forgotten,” was overwhelmed with the evening.

"I was humbled to receive the Patriot Award in the presence of so many veterans that have given selfless service to our nation,” says Worley. "I was so honored to be at the top of Charlie’s list. It all just makes me want to ‘do it better!’”

“This year we were faced with both a physical challenge as well as an emotional one … moving venues as well as trying to do one without Charlie,” explains David Corlew, Daniels’ longtime manager and TCDJHP co-founder. “I quote Charlie in saying, 'By the grace of almighty God and the United States military,' we did it. It was an epic evening with friends, family, an awesome group of veterans, warriors and music giants. It couldn't have been any better, and I know Charlie would be proud."

Prior to his passing last year, Daniels and Corlew handpicked this year's Patriot Award recipients. The criteria for the award is based on the mission of the organization: to support veterans in their return, rehabilitation, and reintegration back into civilian life. The award honors a person, persons, or group that fulfills and exemplifies the efforts and dedication of TCDJHP's purpose to continuously care, support and encourage the men, women, and families who have served our great nation. Previous recipients include Young, Mike Huckabee, Jude Seale, William Horton, Donnie Mingus and The Shepherd’s Center.

Special guest speakers and presenters included Corlew, TCDJHP board member Major General Terry "Max" Haston (retired), former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik, David Rutherford (former U.S. Navy SEAL), Eddie Gallagher (former U.S. Navy SEAL) and decorated military veteran Chris Spence, one of the "Real Horse Soldiers" portrayed in the 2018 critically-acclaimed film, 12 Strong, starring Chris Hemsworth. SiriusXM’s Storme Warren co-hosted along with Rutherford.

“We’d like to thank everyone at TCDJHP, Leaving Legacies, the Mingus family, Team Construction and all of our sponsors and celebrities,” adds Corlew. “We’d also like to send a special 'thank you' salute to 96-year-old Navy vet Mathias Gutman who was in attendance. He served on six islands in the South Pacific during World War II. A true American hero."

"Charlie and I had many conversations regarding how we could pay respect and honor to those that crossed our paths, that go above and beyond in supporting our active military, as well as our returning veterans,” explains Daniels’ longtime manager and TCDJHP co-founder David Corlew. THE CHARLIE DANIELS JOURNEY HOME PROJECT DONATES $25K TO VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS

THE CHARLIE DANIELS JOURNEY HOME PROJECT TRUDGES AHEAD
DONATES THOUSANDS TO VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS

Recent Charitable Contributions Aiding U.S Military Vets Totals $25,000

The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP), a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting our nation's military veterans, is barreling ahead with its late founder’s mission to help our former men and women in uniform. Since the passing of Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Daniels last year, co-founder David Corlew (and Daniels’ longtime manager) has donated $25,000 to various organizations that directly aid veterans and their families.

Recent contributions include $10,000 to A Soldier’s Child, which benefits children of veterans, and $5,000 to God’s Word for Warriors, a non-profit committed to serving spiritually wounded and emotionally distressed vets.

"Our mission is to continue our vision and commitment to the supporting of our veterans as they reintegrate from service to civilian life,” explains Corlew. "The loss of Charlie, combined with the impact of Covid, has made it even more difficult to do. But the need is there, and as you can see, we are unwavering in efforts to serve."

Additionally, last month, TCDJHP joined forces with country music superstar Chris Young to establish the Daniels/Young Veterans Scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. TCDJHP donated $10,000 to fund the new yearly scholarship that will be awarded to former servicemen and women pursuing a degree from the College of Media and Entertainment at the university.

“Charlie was not only an influence on my music but was a mentor too,” says Young, who attended MTSU prior to signing with RCA Nashville. "I’m extremely honored to help continue his legacy through this new scholarship.”

MTSU also houses the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center, an on-campus facility that provides transition services for veterans and their families as they return to civilian life after military service.

TCDJHP’s daily operations rely solely on public donations. To donate, visit  thecharliedanielsjourneyhomeproject.org

CHARLIE DANIELS AND THE JOURNEY HOME PROJECT JOIN FORCES WITH CODE OF VETS TO AID VETERANS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Daniels and his veterans non-profit The Journey Home Project (TJHP) are joining forces with another non-profit group, Code of Vets, to aid former U.S. servicemen and women who are suffering amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, the country music and southern rock icon announced the partnership between the two organizations. Their collective mission is a call to action to seek public donations for vets suffering from economic hardships as well as those who have contracted the virus.

"Gretchen Smith and the folks at Code of Vets cover the guys below the radar, the ones with immediate needs and no place to turn, with a rapid deployment type response to veterans in desperate circumstances," says Daniels. "These are the same veterans who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom. Our nation is pretty distracted by the coronavirus pandemic we’re all dealing with, but the need in the veterans world goes on, and the urgent need for funds is truly critical. I would ask you to join The Journey Home Project in supporting Code of Vets in providing for the needs of our most worthy citizens."

There are many stories from Americans during the COVID-19 crisis, but for weeks there has been a group suffering in silence: our veterans. Most days, these men and women battle PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), hunger, homelessness and unemployment but do their best to stay afloat. Code of Vets, a 501c3, has been on the front lines assisting a large number of veterans and their families, finding those in need of even the most basic items such as food, running water and electricity. Some have been infected with the virus itself.

“We are operating under emergency conditions with this alarming spike of veterans in crisis," explains Code of Vets Founder Gretchen Smith. "Please donate to assist with basic needs like food, housing and utilities. Our veterans matter. Every dollar matters. It is on us to take care of our own.”

“I've watched the amazing work that Gretchen and her team have done over the past year," notes TJHP co-founder and Daniels' manager David Corlew. "It's a natural fit for us to team with Code of Vets during a critical time such as this. Our veterans need us. They fought for us, so it's time for us to return the service. We can do this."

In pre-COVID-19 times, Code of Vets assisted veterans with mental health crisis, unemployment, housing and transportation, among others, but they are now encountering dire situations that they never expected.

Pressing issues for vets include:

Unable to pay bills due to layoffs
Spike in food assistance requests
Unable to afford basic needs such as: water, electricity, gas
Increase in veteran suicides
Unable to afford room or board due to job loss
No access to rent, mortgage, car payment relief or deferred payment programs
Unable to reach the VA (by phone/in-person) for necessary mental health appointments

This is only a glimpse into COVID-19’s affect on the veteran community.

“It is no longer business as usual. The urgency of these needs require all of our resources all of the time, and we need more Americans to step up for our veterans as they did for them,” adds Smith.

Daniels and The Journey Home Project urge the public to donate to Code of Vets during this trying time for our nation’s military heroes. Donations can be made at codeofvets.com.

From last-minute surprise guests to legendary collaborations, each Volunteer Jam is a special experience.

"The jam is unique in so many ways," notes Daniels' manager David Corlew. "Multi-act shows are common these days, but none offer the opportunity to interact with the other acts, literally by jamming with a plethora of artists and musicians. It's Charlie Daniels at his best!"

Participating artists will be announced in February of next year. The event is produced by Outback Presents in association with David Corlew and Associates.

The Charlie Daniels Band performed the first Volunteer Jam on October 4, 1974, at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, marking the beginning of a tradition. Over the Jam's four-decade history, Daniels and his band have played alongside superstar guests including Ted Nugent, The Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Billy Ray Cyrus, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tammy Wynette, Roy Acuff, Carl Perkins, ALABAMA, Don Henley, Barefoot Jerry and more. Many of these concerts were broadcast live on the radio. The Volunteer Jam on national television included a live broadcast on the Jerry Lewis Telethon and a Dick Clark-produced network special. The Volunteer Jam is also the title of a series of albums released by Daniels of performances from the late 1970s and early 1980s at Volunteer Jam shows.

SHENANDOAH TEAMS WITH CHARLIE DANIELS FOR TRIBUTE TO LYNYRD SKYNYRD: "FREEBIRD IN THE WIND"

Newly-Released Ballad is a Modern-Day History Lesson
Honoring the Most Iconic Southern Rock Band of Our Time

GRAMMY®, CMA, and ACM Award-winning country band Shenandoah releases "Freebird in the Wind" featuring Charlie Daniels to all digital service providers today (October 25).

The ballad tells the story of the tragic plane crash that took the lives of several members of the legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd on October 20, 1977. The Convair CV-240 passenger aircraft ran out of fuel and crashed near Gillsburg, Mississippi. The crash resulted in six fatalities, including the band's lead signer Ronnie Van Zant.

"Everyone knows Charlie Daniels plays a pivotal role in the southern rock genre," explains Marty Raybon, Shenandoah's frontman. "He also has a friendship with Lynyrd Skynyrd that goes back nearly four decades including a close relationship with Ronnie (Van Zant) before he passed away. With the connection he has to the history behind the song, we felt he would be perfect to have on this record, and we were honored when he said yes."

"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" singer recites a poem during the intro of the track. This recitation is carved into a stone bench at Ronnie Van Zant's gravesite. "What an absolute honor to have such an amazing piece of music history embedded into this song," says Raybon.

"Freebird in the Wind" was written by Nelson Blanchard and Scott Inness. In 2018, Inness visited the crash site on its 41st anniversary and spoke with two of the the crash's first responders. After, he and Blanchard both knew they had something historic on their hands. "We even played the demo to drummer Artimus Pyle who survived the crash, and he cried," says Inness. "We truly feel we captured the story in a song."

"The first time I heard this song, I remember thinking 'Wow, what memories it brought back.' Then I thought 'My goodness what a tribute,'" Raybon continues. "Not that they were in a plane crash and not that one of the most gifted songwriters and vocalists in southern rock had been killed, but the love for who and what they were had not died. We recorded this song not to gain from it, but to pay our respect to them."

Shenandoah recorded the new tune at Muscle Shoals Sound in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the same studio where Skynyrd tracked some of its earliest recordings.

The tribute is available now for purchase or download via all digital streaming services HERE. All proceeds from the song go directly to the Lynyrd Skynyrd Foundation, the band's official charity.

CHARLIE DANIELS' NON-PROFIT THE JOURNEY HOME PROJECT PARTNERS WITH RICH POVERTY ORGANIZATION FOR VETERANS ART EXHIBIT AT THE PENTAGON IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

New Veterans Photo Gallery, The Alliance Collection, Now Open for Public Viewing

Country music legend Charlie Daniels' veterans non-profit The Journey Home Project (TJHP) has partnered with the Rich Poverty organization to assemble a new art exhibit at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. The exhibit, titled The Alliance Collection, is a gallery of combat and civilian photographs taken by veterans and their families. The collection is now on display for public viewing.

"It's a real honor to do anything that benefits our heroes in the military, and to be a part of something displayed in the Pentagon makes it even more special," says Daniels.

Including photos from over 50 artists from around the globe, The Alliance Collection's purpose is to highlight veterans in the arts.

"Each corridor of the Pentagon has displays of our nation's military history," says TJHP board member Major General Terry "Max" Haston (retired). "These professionally designed exhibits reflect the factual lineage of our services. The Rich Poverty Alliance Collection goes beyond history but into the hearts and minds of our service members and their families. It reveals raw emotions and truth as seen through the lens of experience. It allows those, whose only exposure to the reality of military service is through what is reported in the media, a glimpse into our world."

Much like the coalitions of overseas deployment, The Alliance Collection includes imagery from international partners. Photographers hailing from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada and more are prominently featured. The collection includes photos taken during various conflicts throughout history, ranging from WWII through present day.

"For The Journey Home Project to step up and partner with us for an exhibit in the Pentagon means the world to us," notes Rich Poverty founder Tim Wallace. "The Alliance Collection is proud to get the backing of legendary musician and consummate veterans advocate Charlie Daniels in helping us showcase our world class photography. Our artists are sharing more than just stories of their wartime missions. This is the full journey through the eyes of the veteran."

"Now retired, Tim Wallace is a 26 year Army Ranger that has witnessed a lot of what we are sharing in the exhibit," adds TJHP co-founder David Corlew. "We met during a Ranger leadership course and realized that the concept of providing veteran photographers the opportunity to tell their personal story through the exhibit is a form of healing. And that's the business we're in."

The exhibit will be on display through March of next year and is free to the public for viewing while touring the Pentagon.

CHARLIE DANIELS ANNOUNCES LATEST STUDIO ALBUM, BEAU WEEVILS - SONGS IN THE KEY OF E

New Compilation Featuring Award-Winning Musicians James Stroud,
Charlie Hayward and Billy Crain Set for October 26 Release;
Pre-Sale Orders Available Now at Amazon.com

Fans who follow Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels online may have noticed what appears to be a serious infestation of boll weevil bugs on his social media accounts and website. As it turns out, those critters aren't boll weevils at all. They're actually, "Beau Weevils," and are a nod to Daniels' upcoming studio album, Beau Weevils - Songs in the Key of E, set for release on Friday, October 26.

The new ten-track album features lead vocals, guitar and fiddle by Daniels, James Stroud on drums and percussion, Billy Crain on guitar, and Charlie Hayward on bass.

"Beau Weevils - Songs in the Key of E is the culmination of a long held desire of James Stroud and myself to do a project together," says Daniels. "We had worked together, with James in the capacity of producer, which had resulted in some of our most successful albums for The Charlie Daniels Band, but James is one of the finest and most soulful drummers in the business and I figured we could get together, musician to musician, and come up with something special. We just needed a vehicle in the form of songs that would fit the bill."

CMA and ACM Award-winning James Stroud's history as a musician, producer, music publisher and industry executive spans over 40 years. As a drummer/percussionist, he has played behind the likes of The Pointer Sisters, Paul Simon, Gladys Knight, Bob Seger and dozens more. He produced his first hit in 1976 with the triple platinum-selling "Misty Blue" by Dorothy Moore. Stroud achieved major country music success producing albums for Tim McGraw and Clint Black in the 1990s. After making his foray into the record label side of the industry, Stroud helmed Giant Records (at which time he discovered Clay Walker), DreamWorks Records Nashville (where he signed Toby Keith and produced four of the singer's multi-platinum albums) and served as Co-Chairman of Universal Music Group in Nashville (steering the careers of the likes of Vince Gill, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire and Sugarland). He would go on to found his own independent label, Stroudavarious Records, and later, R&J Records. Stroud has produced albums that have collectively sold millions of copies, and had over 100 #1 records, including three chart-toppers with country star Chris Young. Stroud also produced several albums for The Charlie Daniels Band including Homesick Heroes ('88), Simple Man ('89), and Renegade ('91).

A staple of the southern rock scene since early 1970s, Billy Crain has performed with The Allman Brothers Band, The Rossington-Collins Band, The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, The Outlaws and the Henry Paul Band. He's the brother of the late Charlie Daniels Band guitarist, Tommy Crain.

Longtime Charlie Daniels Band guitarist Charlie Hayward is best known for playing bass on Gregg Allman's critically-acclaimed album, Laid Back. His additional credits include performing with Dr. John, as well as sitting in with The Allman Brothers Band after bass guitarist Berry Oakley was involved in a motorcycle accident.

Daniels describes the new recordings as "Downhome, Swampy Rock meets Funk with a little taste of 'Delta' type of style."

"The whole thing started one day when I, as I often do, was fooling around with my guitar and came up with the opening riff on a song that eventually turned out to be 'Mudcat,'" explains Daniels. "That song set the style for the rest of the songs I would write, that all lent themselves to being played in the key of E, hence the title."

Daniels wrote or co-wrote all ten tunes on the new compilation. Stroud and Casey Wood produced the project with Daniels' manager David Corlew serving as executive producer.

"Holla the Beau Weevils!" Daniels quips.

Pre-sale album orders are available now at Amazon.com.
