COUNTRY COOKIN': CHRISTIAN KANE'S RATTLESNAKE STEAK AND "BITES"

You may know Christian Kane from such popular shows such as "Angel" and his most recent starring role as "Eliot Spencer" on TNT's "Leverage", his supporting roles in movies such as "Just Married", "Summer Catch" and many others but there's much more to Kane that meets the eye. He's not only an actor, but a great artist both behind the mic and behind the stove.

In December 2010, Christian released a hit cd called "The House Rules" which is currently being re-released under the name "Welcome to My House", he has a new movie coming out called "50 to 1" and has been mentioned by fans to play the part of "James Dalton" in the remake of the Patrick Swayze classic movie, "Roadhouse". He's also a fantastic cook! Check out his recipe for "Rattlesnake Steak" and "Bites". They'll bite hard and leave a mark, much like Christian's music.

Ingredients for "Rattlesnake Steak"

2 large filet mignons
5 strips of bacon
4 green onions (scallions)
2 firm jalapenos
Crumbled blue cheese
Garlic salt (to taste)
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Ingredients for "Bites"

2 large Russet potatoes
1 jalapeno
Vegetable Oil

Preparation for "Bites"

1. Thinly slice the thickest part of the potato and slice the jalapeno equally as thin.
2. Lay one thin jalapeno slice on top of potato slice and cover with another potato slice
3. Drop into a Fry Daddy or pot of oil and fry until brown. When done, remove and salt and pepper to taste.

Preparation for "Rattlesnake Steak"

1. In a cast iron skillet or pan, start by frying bacon on medium heat.

2. Roughly chop green onions, leaving 4 inches of the green part for later use, and chop jalapenos

3. When bacon is done, remove from pan and pat with paper towel to remove extra fat. Roughly crumble or chop bacon into bits, adding back to the original grease in the still hot pan, add onions and jalapenos.

4. Stir for no longer than 1 minute. Remove the bacon mixture, leaving the grease in the pan and pat dry with a paper towel.

5. Thoroughly combine bacon mixture with blue cheese, add a pinch of garlic salt and sprinkle generously with pepper; set aside.

6. Slide a pocket on the side of each steak.

7. Stuff as much of the blue cheese mixture as you can into each pocket, you will lose some some melting

8. Salt and pepper both sides of the filets

9. Set filets on the grill at high heat. Handle with tongs so you don't lose any stuffing. Cook to temperature, turning same side 40 degrees to get the "diamondback" effect.

10. When satisfied, bring filets back to the bacon pan and place in the oven until stuffing gets bubbly. Remove and let sit a couple of minutes so juices don't escape.

11. Add soy sauce, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce to the hot pan and render until thick. Remove from heat.

12. Chop remaining green onions. Place filets on a plate, add the "bites" to the side.

13. Drizzle reduction sauce over the steaks and sprinkle green onions and blue cheese crumbles over the plate.

14. Enjoy!

SURVEY SAYS THE TITLE OF MOST HUMBLE, GENUINE AND KINDEST ARTIST BELONGS TO ....

So we asked you yesterday on Twitter and Facebook who, in your personal opinion and based on personal experience, is your vote for the most humble, appreciative and genuine artist out there. Man, you guys didn't play! We had over 1,000 votes! We got some great answers including multiples for Casey James, Gary Allan, Chris Young, Steve Holy, Carrie Underwood, and others but the two that were neck in neck for the majority of the 2 day survey were Christian Kane and Jason Michael Carroll. The Kaniacs and the Honky Tonk Friends came out in FULL FORCE and fought a hard fight to win this but ultimately we could only have one top answer for the survey and the winner is ...

We thought all of your answers were great and loved the reasons why you thought your choice was the best choice and honestly, they're all great choices because they've all done something that made you appreciate them as a person in addition to being your favorite artists. So, there are no losers, just one person with the highest number of votes and having met Christian and having him stay and talk to us one on one and even play when he was in the middle of the worst part of having the flu, that experience showed me that he is definitely one of the most humble, genuine and kind artists out there.

Thank you Christian, on behalf of your fans, for being such a great guy. We notice and appreciate it.

Check out these videos of Christian Kane's show at City Limits Saloon in Raleigh, NC last weekend. I really hate I missed it but so glad we have Youtube! Sorry for the "not quite great" audio quality, it's a difficult venue to shoot good audio or photos.

A Letter to the Christian "Kaniacs" ... Don't Worry About CMT's Bad Decision

Hey Kaniacs, don't worry about CMT not adding Christian's video to their rotation. Although it was a really bad decision, it's ok and we as Kaniacs can deal with this let down with class. "Country Music Television" is owned by Viacom, who owns MTV and we know how long it's been since music videos were really even played there. CMT is more focused now on "My Big Redneck Wedding", "CMT Made" (which by the way is about a girl wanting to be a HIP HOP dancer on today's episode), "Extreme Home Makeover" and "You Think You're Smarter Than a 5th Grader" and maybe a few hours a day of videos. Tune into GAC if you can get it on your provider, they keep the music playing ALL DAY, EVERY DAY and support new music. "Let Me Go" is a featured video in their video section on their website. Show them your support and let them know Kaniacs truly appreciate their playing Christian's music. Let the CMT thing go. Keep it classy, keep it nice and just move over to GAC.

It's "The House Rules" Day! Crank It Up, Support Good Music and Piss Your Neighbors Off at the Same Time!

Just because Christian Kane isn't getting NEARLY enough air play or recognition, I hereby deem today "House Rules" day. Get out, buy a copy of his cd, "The House Rules", get in your car and crank it up to 12! Piss the neighbors off and support GOOD music at the same time! Be sure to purchase his new single, "Let Me Go" now, which is also included on this cd. The entire cd is phenomenal from first note to last.

VIDEO DOUBLE SHOT: "Luckenbach, Texas"

Yes, Christian Kane is definitely worthy of a video double shot. I love this version of Luckenbach, Texas. I wish he would release this as a single, he'd shoot straight to the top!

VIDEO PREMIERE: "Let Me Go" - Christian Kane

FINALLY! This is the brand spanking new video for "Let Me Go", the latest and long awaited follow up single to "The House Rules" by one of my top favorite and unfortunately underrated artists, Christian Kane. PLEASE call your local radio stations and hound the crap out of them (but nicely) to play "Let Me Go."

Christian Kane Radio Request Guidelines

Attention All Christian Kaniacs (and all country music fans for that matter), please read these radio request guidelines from Christian's camp. These should in fact apply to any request for any artist.

RADIO REQUEST GUIDELINES

Christian KaneSome of you are asking how you can help Christian get his song LET ME GO on the radio.  Many radio stations have playlists that restrict what the DJ’s are allowed to play.  Our goal is to get them to ADD Christian to the playlist.   The more ADDs each week, the better!  Your calls and emails may not result in an immediate ADD, so please don’t be frustrated.  Some stations won’t touch a song until it is in the TOP 40 or unless their corporate playlist has selected it.  Over time the stations react to listener requests and what other stations are doing.  EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS!  If you don’t know which stations in your area you should contact or how to reach them, use the RADIO LOCATOR found here: http://www.radio-locator.com/ .  For now, please choose the COUNTRY format only.
Thanks so much for all of your support!  Keep up the great work and help us spread Christian’s music!

Kaniac Radio Request Guide:

You should call, e-mail, message or tweet your request at most 2x per day.  Only do it locally please.  If you listen to a distant station online, make sure you include this info and the URL in your request.  Spamming and excessive requests or requests from listeners who have no way to listen to the station can have the opposite of the intended result.

Be aware that a station may not be able to reply to or honor your request right away, but they will make note of it.  Oftentimes the station has a list of songs it must play.  This means we lose out until we can convince them to add Christian to the playlist.  This is called ADDING the song.

Play nice!  Kaniacs have a reputation for being polite and courteous to DJs, PDs and each other.  Let’s keep it up!

MOST IMPORTANTLY!  If the stations in your area are already playing “LET ME GO,” let them know that you appreciate them and how much you LOVE the song.

CD Review: "The House Rules" - Christian Kane

CD: "The House Rules"
Artist: Christian Kane
Release: 2010
Label: Bigger Picture

There's a new sheriff in town named Christian Kane and he's packin' some of the hottest music since Jason Aldean made the scene. "The House Rules" is a  Saturday night party waiting to be shut down by the cops because your neighbors weren't invited, it's just that good. I wasn't sure what to expect, never heard of Christian or his music until he was scheduled to perform here at our local Winterfest celebration so I thought I'd check him out. Where the hell has he been hiding? Music like this should have been out long before now and he should be one of those artists saturating radio right now. Wake up radio, enough of the same old people, Christian Kane is a prime example of a well needed change in your playlist.

From the first screams of the harmonica and banging on the drums on "The House Rules", you have no doubt in your mind that this cd was worth your money, one you won't stop listening to anytime soon. My feet were tapping after the first 2 seconds and my whole body was moving to this one (and that's not a pretty sight but in this case, who cares? I can't help it!). It's one of those songs that those around you at a stoplight are gonna hate because you've got it cranked up to 11. Screw 'em, it's a party in your car! He mixes the right amount of thump with the right amount of smooth throughout the entire cd. I rarely like an entire cd, but this is an exception, I didn't hear a song that didn't grab me, whether it be to turn up the volume and do some head bobbin' or to turn it down, turn out the lights and just enjoy the ballads. Great debut cd, Christian, very impressive. I hope to see you around for a long time and I hope your label does you right by promoting your fantastic music Oh yeah, you're rocking those Wranglers too!

Listen to it, love it, tell others about it!

You can purchase "The House Rules" on Amazon.com, iTunes, or at most record stores like Target or Best Buy.
