Edgehill Music Publishing has signed award-winning artist and songwriter CJ Solar to an exclusive publishing agreement, it was announced by Edgehill co-founders Josh and Tara Joseph. A native of Baton Rouge and Belmont University graduate, Solar has penned #1 singles for Morgan Wallen and Jameson Rodgers and has had cuts by numerous artists.
“We’ve been keeping an eye on CJ just waiting for the day he became a free agent,” said Josh Joseph. “He’s an amazing talent, and we are honored to have him as the flagship writer at Edgehill Music Publishing.”

Solar has scored two #1 hits as a songwriter: Morgan Wallen’s “Up Down” featuring Florida Georgia Line and Jameson Rodgers’ “Some Girls.” “Up Down” earned him awards from ASCAP and Nashville Songwriters Association International. He co-wrote Jason Aldean’s “I Don’t Drink Anymore,” Justin Moore’s “Between You & Me,” Jerrod Niemann’s “The Regulars” and Top 30 “Blue Bandana” and more. He hit #1 on the Texas Chart with Mike Ryan’s “Damn Good Goodbye” and Kyle Park’s “What the Heaven.”“Edgehill is an amazing company with people who thrive on creativity and connection,” said Solar. It’s the perfect place for me both as a songwriter and an artist, and I can’t wait to see what the coming years bring.”

As an artist, CJ has released three EPs yielding the Top 15 hits “American Girls” and “Airplane” and the Top 10 “Coming My Way.” He received the MusicRow Independent Artist of the Year Award in 2019. He tours coast-to-coast headlining his own dates and opening for the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, Gary Allan, Chris Janson, Hank Jr, Aaron Watson and others.

“Our motto at Edgehill is ‘We are entrepreneurs. We are investors. We are Family,’ and CJ fits that perfectly,” added Tara Joseph. “He brings a wealth of experience as a writer and artist, and we look forward to building on that success.”

“All of us at Edgehill Music are very excited to welcome CJ to the family and the team,” said producer Kent Wells, who in addition to signing as an Edgehill writer, serves as Creative Director in a joint venture with the company to develop artists and writers. “His strength as both an artist and writer, along with his spirit, make him a great fit for the roster we are building.”

CMT PREMIERES RIOTOUS CJ SOLAR VIDEO

“Coming My Way” First Single from Upcoming EP

CMT Music premiered CJ Solar’s hilarious music video for his upbeat new single, “Coming My Way,” this morning. The single will be the title track to Solar’s upcoming third EP. The video has also been added to CMT Music 12 Pack Countdown, and fans can vote HERE.

Produced and directed by Thomas Chi and shot near Huntington WV, the video opens with CJ and his band pulling in to a grocery store parking lot to grab snacks on the way to a gig. As each guy wanders through the store, they give each other a mischievous glance. The next scene sees all four wearing helmets and racing shopping carts up and down the aisles. Two cops come in, drop their donuts, arrest two guys and tackle a third, as CJ crosses the finish line in victory. The cashier rings CJ back to reality, he pays for his macaroni and cheese and realizes his bus driver has left the scene.

CJ wrote "Coming My Way" with Jake Mitchell and Hardy, and the single will be the title track to his third EP due out early next year. Check it out now on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and Amazon.

CJ opened for Chris Janson last weekend, and this weekend he heads home to Baton Rouge to perform outside Tiger Stadium prior to the LSU vs. Arkansas football game on Saturday.

CJ SOLAR INVITED TO MAKE OPRY DEBUT

Dream to Enter the Famous Circle Comes True September 7

CJ Solar has seen many dreams come true since he started writing, recording and touring, but few dreams compare to the call he received from the Grand Ole Opry inviting him to make his debut appearance on the hallowed stage. On September 7, 2019, the MusicRow “Independent Artist of the Year” will perform in the famous circle for the first time.

“It’s been a dream of mine to stand on the circle, since I attended my first Opry performance with my parents on a trip to Nashville when I was 12 . . . it inspired me to move to Nashville and want to make Country music,” said CJ. “Always said this was the biggest bucket list moment for me in Nashville, and I can’t believe it’s happening!!”

CJ was in seventh grade during that family trip to Music City. The visit included many of the traditional Nashville destinations, but the Opry was highest on everyone’s list. Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton performed on the show that night, and CJ distinctly remembers making a quality decision to follow in their footsteps.

Ironically, CJ interned for and was later signed as a staff writer at Sea Gayle Music, a Nashville music publishing company co-owned by Brad Paisley. CJ co-wrote every song on his Get Away With It and Hard One To Turn Down EPs and his upcoming EP, and he celebrated his first #1 Country single as a songwriter with Morgan Wallen’s “Up Down” featuring Florida Georgia Line.

Last week, fans received news of the release of CJ’s new single, “Coming My Way,” to Country radio on August 27, 2019. The single will be the title track to his upcoming third EP. Listen to the new single on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and Amazon now.

This weekend, CJ will open for one of his musical heroes Hank Williams, Jr. in Morgantown, WV on Friday and Corbin, KY on Saturday. The following weekend he will open for 38 Special, and he will be back out opening for Gary Allan through September.

CJ will join Dailey & Vincent, Williams & Ree, Sylvia and his buddy and frequent co-writer Travis Denning the night he makes his Opry debut. A large crowd is expected from his hometown of Baton Rouge, and fans from as far as New York have indicated they will make the trek to Nashville. Tickets can be purchased here.

CJ SOLAR CELEBRATES "UP DOWN" #1

Ships New Single,
Opening for Skynyrd This Weekend

CJ Solar started this week seeing his name atop the Country Music charts for the first time as the co-writer on Morgan Wallen’s #1 single “Up Down,” and he will wrap up the week opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour in Raleigh and Charlotte. In between, he will release “American Girls,” the follow up to his Top 15 single “Airplane,” to Country radio.

“I’ve been dreaming of this since I wrote my first song when I was like 12,” said an elated Solar of “Up Down,” his first #1 Country single as a writer. “I can’t thank Morgan, FGL and the whole Big Loud crew for taking it all the way to the top and to the Country fans for helping make it happen!”

Solar, who Rolling Stone Country named one of their “New Artists You Need To Know,” wrote “American Girls” with Michael Hardy, Jake Mitchell and Michael Hobby of A Thousand Horses. “We were wanting to write something that felt current but still had that Southern Rock vibe that we grew up on,” said CJ. “I had been listening to the Tom Petty station on SiriusXM and got the idea to write a modern day song about American girls.”

CJ will have another dream come true, when he and his band head to Raleigh on Friday and Charlotte on Saturday to open for Lynyrd Skynyrd. 38 Special is on both bills, and Cheap Trick and Hank Williams, Jr. split the Raleigh and Charlotte shows, respectively.

“I can’t believe everything that’s going on right now. This might be the best week of my life, and I feel like we’re just getting started!”
