CRAIG MORGAN JOINS THE USO IN BRINGING A "TASTE OF HOME" TO U.S. SERVICE MEMBERS DEPLOYED IN GERMANY

When our service members can’t be home for the holidays, the United Service Organizations (USO) takes home to our service members. 17-year Army veteran Craig Morgan joined the nonprofit on a three-day trip, from December 19 to 21, to Germany where the country music star performed three concerts for troops and their families stationed at USAG Bavaria.

Morgan, who was active duty for 10.5 years and a member of the U.S. Reserves for 6.5 years, was reunited with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions while touring USAG Bavaria, both of which he was a part during his years of service. Since Morgan’s first USO tour in 2002, he has visited 15 countries during 13 tours, entertaining more than 45,000 U.S. troops and their families.

“It’s always an honor and a privilege to visit with our troops and their families, but especially during the holiday season,” said Morgan. “I know how much it means to them to receive those care packages at this time of the year and to hear those messages of gratitude from Americans everywhere who value the incredible sacrifices they make year-round.”

Find tour photos here.

“Serving overseas over the holiday season, sometimes far from family and friends, can be difficult,” said Jennifer Wahlquist, Vice President, USO Global Entertainment. “We’re grateful to the wonderful entertainers like Craig who generously donate their time to bring holiday cheer and a connection to home to our service members.”
“We are so thankful for Craig Morgan taking the time to visit with and perform for our Soldiers and family members," said Audre Binder, Director, Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation at United States Army Garrison Bavaria. "And it's even more special because Craig knows what it's like to be away from loved ones during the holidays, as a former servicemember himself. He has just an incredible way of connecting with everyone here."

Bringing entertainment to the troops is a cornerstone of the USO’s mission to strengthen America’s service members through connection. More than 75,000 service members participate in USO Entertainment tours annually, and more than 50,000 military members have attended virtual celebrity visits through the USO Military Virtual Programming Entertainment Series (USO MVP) during the last two years.

Follow the USO on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates, and join the conversation using #BetheForce on social media.

#COUNTRYGIVESBACK - DICKSON COUNTY CRAIG MORGAN FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH COMMUNITY TO BRING CHRISTMAS TO MORE THAN 120 CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE

Another reason I love the country music genre and why it's so special ...

The Dickson County Craig Morgan Foundation (DCCMF) has teamed up with the local community to spread holiday cheer throughout Dickson County. DCCMF purchased presents for more than 120 children in foster care in Dickson County to help ensure everyone will have a very Merry Christmas. Gifts include bicycles and power wheels assembled by local firefighters; students from Creek Wood and Dickson County High Schools wrapped presents prior to being delivered to foster care families.

“I’m thrilled that everyone came together to make Christmas brighter for children in foster care in Dickson County - from the firefighters to high school students, so many people gave of their time to contribute to this special cause,” shared Dickson County resident, country music entertainer and Army veteran, Craig Morgan.

“It starts with a single wish list from each child, then the community, DCS and the Dickson County Craig Morgan Foundation work side by side to ensure the foster children have their wishes fulfilled,” said Department of Children’s Services' Jackie (Hopkins) Poteet. “For some of these children, these gifts under a tree on Christmas morning is a first — first real Nike shoes, first bicycle, first Barbie house or first necklace. Those items mean so much to these children who have never had it before. Craig Morgan has found a way to spread some happiness to over 120 foster care children and how amazing is that!”

CRAIG MORGAN DEBUTS THE GALLERY AT MORGAN FARMS

Family owned-and-operated farm-to-home business now open in downtown Dickson, Tennessee

Country music entertainer, military veteran and award-winning TV host CRAIG MORGAN recently launched The Gallery at Morgan Farms in his hometown of Dickson, TN. The family owned-and-operated farm-to-home business creates organic items and products from reclaimed, repurposed, and recycled materials. The Gallery at Morgan Farms is the first storefront for the Morgan Farms brand. Visit The Gallery at Morgan Farms at 123 N. Main St in downtown Dickson, Tennessee, open Tuesday through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or at http://bit.ly/MorganFarms.

The gallery got its start via the organic honey harvested from Craig’s beehives. His bees and the honey they produce will be prominently featured in the store, including a live beehive display. The store will offer honey and beeswax related products including lip balms and candles; Craig’s son Kyle Greer will soon be producing a line of beard-related grooming products.

The Gallery at Morgan Farms will feature a variety of artisan items handmade by Craig, including one-of-a-kind hand-carved wooden table centerpieces, bowls, spoons, cheese trays, bread boards, serving trays, cutting boards, candle holders and more. Offerings will also include furniture accessories created from pallet materials by Craig and his family.

Quilts and other hand-sewn items from Craig's wife Karen Greer, his daughter Alexandra Beaird and other family members will also be showcased at The Gallery at Morgan Farms.

Each piece offered by Craig and his family has a unique story and is made from repurposed, reclaimed, and recycled materials.

The gallery will also feature items created and produced by some of Craig's fellow musician friends including Zac Brown, Billy Dean, Eric Paslay and more.

In addition, Craig and Karen have commissioned local Dickson artist Kimberly Daniel to paint various scenes from around Craig’s farm. Prints and giclée reproductions as well as several of the custom paintings will be available in the store.

The Gallery at Morgan Farms is an art piece in and of itself. Constructed in 1920, the building was at one time a furniture company and later housed an undertaker’s offices. Keeping with Morgan Farms’ mission to reclaim, repurpose and recycle, Craig and family took careful steps to restore the building to its original state.

KELLIE PICKLER, CRAIG MORGAN AND LOCASH AMONG HEADLINERS FOR ASHLEY FOR THE ARTS MUSIC AND ART FESTIVAL

Admission Wristbands For The Three-Day Event Available For $10!

West Central Wisconsin is a hotbed for summer music festivals. There is one festival that doesn’t quite fit the mold, but has quietly attained a cult following of sorts amongst its growing fan base. It’s called Ashley for the Arts, and it’s held in Arcadia, Wis.

So, why should you attend? This may sound cliché, but there just may be something for everyone. Oh, and there is one more thing: The cost of admission to this three-day charity event (Aug. 11-13) is a whopping ten dollars. Admission wristbands are available at the gate.

So, what do you get for ten dollars?

Let’s start with the music. This year’s headliners include 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chicago, as well as American Authors, X Ambassadors, Kellie Pickler, Craig Morgan and LOCASH. Eclectic, right? And that’s just the headliners.

 OK, what else?

The venue is perhaps the most awe-inspiring aspect of Ashley for the Arts. The 54-acre Memorial Park serves as the backdrop for the event. It has open green spaces, mature trees, and a beautiful outdoor amphitheater; and also features Soldiers Walk, one of the premier war memorials in the U.S. outside of Washington, D.C. This park is certainly not one that you would expect to see in an isolated rural community. Among his many philanthropic contributions, Ron Wanek, founder and chairman of Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc., was the lead benefactor and architect of this majestic park.

And it is more than capable of handling large crowds. Two miles of walkways subtly direct pedestrian traffic by art and craft vendors, four music stages, a car show, a hot air balloon launch, an air park, an interactive art station, and a kids jungle gym and playground area. Each year, Ashley for the Arts also features a run/walk event, a bike race, a kid’s obstacle course, a sky lantern launch during Friday’s and Saturday’s headline performances and an unforgettable fireworks show on Saturday night.

There are additional music entertainers and many family-friendly off stage performances throughout the Friday and Saturday portion of the event, including a wheel of death, fire poi, juggling, balloon sculptures, bubbles, Wild West-themed performances, a living statue and a scavenger hunt. A Mexican Dance group dressed in traditional attire will perform on Saturday, as well.

As if the family friendly aspect of this event weren’t already self-evident, here’s another golden nugget: With their $10 admission wristband, children can gain unlimited access to the performances, the air park (bouncy houses), the jungle gym playground area, the interactive art activities area, and scavenger hunt activities and they are provided with many FREE giveaways and prizes. So, outside of the food and drink, Mom and Dad can rest assured that they won’t need to break the bank if they bring the kids along.

With food and beverage booths (and bathrooms) aplenty, free parking and free bus shuttles to nearby parking areas and the county campground just North of Arcadia, one can begin to understand why attendance for this festival has grown by an average of 50% per year since its inception in 2009.

SINGLE REVIEW: "WHEN I'M GONE" - CRAIG MORGAN

SINGLE: "When I'm Gone"

Craig Morgan is definitely a one of a kind guy. There is truly no one else out there quite like him. He’s been in the military, became an EMT and was also a sheriff’s deputy, just to name a few things. He is also an incredible outdoorsman and family man. He quoted on his website “music is like a center for all of those things.  It' It's the outlet for me to express everything I am. When I'm riding my dirt bike, you may not know about my music, and when I'm in a military environment, it's not the center point. But my music career allows me to talk about and be a part of all of those other energies in my life. When I'm on stage, I get to express all of it.” Because of this, there isn’t a song of his out there that someone can’t relate to. His most recent single “When I’m Gone” is the perfect song for Morgan. In the song he sings about how he wants to be remembered as the guy who lived live to the fullest. In the chorus he sings about laughing more than crying, staring down all of his fears and living ever moment so that his memory lives on after hes gone. It is truly an amazing song that you won't want to miss!
