Brian Johnson heads to the country music capital of the world, Nashville, TN, to talk with genre trailblazer Dolly Parton on an all-new episode of AXS TV’s globetrotting music series Brian Johnson’s A Life On The Road—airing Sunday, November 10 at 9:00 pm ET.

In this exclusive first-look, Parton sheds some light on the history behind her enduring hit single “I Will Always Love You”— which Parton wrote following a heated fight with her longtime professional partner and mentor, the late Country icon Porter Wagoner. “I went home with a heavy heart, and I wrote ‘I Will Always Love You’,” Parton explains. “I went back to Porter and said, ‘You won’t listen to what I’m saying, please sit down and listen to this song.’ He started to listen to it and I started playing it with my guitar, and he started to cry. He said, ‘Ok, you can go, if I can produce that song.’” The single ultimately made its way to the top of the Country charts, and attracted the attention of the The King himself, Elvis Presley, who wanted to record it.

Unfortunately, the cost would be too great for Parton, who would have been forced to concede half of the publishing rights to Presley’s team. “I grieved over that,” she continues. “I just cried my heart out, ‘cause I was just picturing Elvis singing that. Can you imagine?” The decision would prove to be the correct one, however, after the single was turned into an international sensation by one of music’s most powerful voices. Parton concludes, “After Whitney Houston recorded it, I was so glad I kept the full publishing! I wrote ‘Jolene’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’ the same night, and I thought, ‘Buddy, that was a good night!’”

DOLLY PARTON has revealed the cover art and track list for the soundtrack to the anticipated Netflix film Dumplin’.

DOLLY PARTON HONORED WITH BILL ROSENDAHL PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD AT LA PRESS CLUB ANNUAL GALA

The Los Angeles Press honored global superstar Dolly Parton at the 60th SoCal Journalism Awards Gala at the Crystal Ballroom of the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown LA on Sunday evening.

Parton was honored with the Bill Rosendahl Public Service Award for contributions to the public good. The event focused on the philanthropic efforts of Imagination Library, her book gifting organization that has mailed over 100 million books to children in Australia, Canada, the U.K. and U.S., as well as her Smoky Mountains Rise telethon, which raised more than $12.5 million dollars for her My People Fund which provided financial assistance to victims of the massive wildfires that impacted the Gatlinburg, Tennessee area in late November 2016.

The awards gala also honored NBC News’ Lester Holt, LA Times Business Editor Kimi Yoshino and Saudi Arabian Blogger Raif Badawi. Holt received the Joseph M. Quinn Award for Lifetime Achievement, Yoshino the President’s Award for impact on media and Badawi the Daniel Pearl Award for courage and integrity in journalism.

The gala was attended by over 500 journalists and media executives. Several excellence in journalism awards were announced during the event.

Among Dolly Parton’s most current projects is her collaboration with Linda Perry on the upcoming soundtrack for the film Dumplin’. Perry produced the album and produced and wrote the film’s score, and Parton is executive producer. Together, they co-wrote six new songs for the project. The Dumplin’ film, starring Jennifer Aniston & Danielle MacDonald, is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Julie Murphy, about a girl (Willowdeen) who struggles to find herself.

Recently announced, Parton’s Dixie Pixie Productions is partnering with Warner Bros.Television to produce a series of television films to premiere on Netflix in 2019. Each installment will be based on a different Parton classic song, with the singer-songwriter appearing in select episodes.

FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE, DOLLY PARTON, JUSTIN MOORE AND MANY MORE FEATURED IN THE LATEST EPISODE OF “THE PICKUP”

Continuing the tradition of bringing you the latest in country music news, “The Pickup” starts by paying tribute to two country music artists taken way too soon. CMA and ACM winner Don Williams and Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry both died on September 8. Williams passed away at the age of 78 after a battle with emphysema. Gentry was tragically killed in a New Jersey helicopter crash headed to a concert on the East Coast for later that night. Gentry was 50 years old.

Justin Moore has announced his “Hell on a Highway Tour.” The tour is scheduled to kick off October 13 in Louisiana and will run through Spring 2018. Opening for Moore will be previous Pickup & Coming success story Dylan Scott.

Dustin Lynch, Brothers Osborne and Lauren Alaina announced the nominees for the 51st Annual CMA Awards have been announced. Up for Female Vocalist of the Year are Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Reba and Carrie Underwood. DOLLY PARTON'S MY PEOPLE FUND SERVES NEARLY 900 FAMILIES IN FIRST DISTRIBUTION

Donations to the fund continue as totals climb to $9.3 million

In a little more than two weeks after the wildfires that spread across Dolly Parton’s home area of Sevier County, Tennessee, Parton and the Dollywood Foundation launched the distribution of assistance from the My People Fund. During the four day cash distribution, 884 families received their initial support payments.

“It’s a blessing during this holiday season that we are able to help as many families as we have so far,” Parton said. “We know there are more families out there who need our help and we encourage them to be in contact with us before our January distribution.”

The Dollywood Foundation My People Fund provides $1,000 each month to Sevier County families whose homes are uninhabitable or were completely destroyed in the recent Smoky Mountain wildfires. Any family who lost their primary residence (renters and homeowners) due to the wildfires in Sevier County will be eligible. A pre-application for those affected is available at dollywoodfoundation.org.

Millions of people watched Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund telethon on Tuesday, December 13 on Great American Country, AXS-TV, RFD-TV and The Heartland Network and during several rebroadcasts throughout the last week. As a result, donations continued to roll in and thanks to generous people from coast to coast and Parton’s friends, the total amount raised has climbed to $9.3 million.

“As, Dolly said, the response has been overwhelming,” David Dotson, Dollywood Foundation President said. “We will distribute all $9.3 million to the families affected. That will insure all of the money raised will go to where Dolly promised it would go.”

The next distribution is January 26 and 27, 2017 at the LeConte Events Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Several famous names have been added to the growing list of celebrities set to perform during Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. (EST). The nationally-broadcast, three-hour telethon seeks to raise money for the Dollywood Foundation My People Fund, established by Parton, The Dollywood Company and Parton’s dinner theaters in the wake of last week’s wildfires in the entertainment icon’s home area of Sevier County, Tennessee. Country music legend Dolly Parton brings her beloved classic to life in Coat of Many Colors (Grosset & Dunlap; on sale October 18, 2016), a new picture book for young readers with all-new illustrations by Brooke Boynton Hughes and featuring a downloadable exclusive original song by Dolly Parton, “Making Fun Ain’t Funny."

Using lyrics from her classic song "Coat of Many Colors," and inspired by Parton’s rural upbringing in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, the picture book tells the story of a young girl in need of a warm winter coat. When her mother sews her a coat made of rags, the girl is mocked by classmates for being poor. But Parton's trademark positivity carries through to the end as the girl realizes that her coat was made with love "in every stitch."

Parton hosts very first Cracker Barrel Front Porch Series with top emerging country artists

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® today announced that Dolly Parton is its latest Spotlight Music artist. The legendary singer will exclusively release a deluxe version of her new album Pure & Simple in Cracker Barrel stores nationwide and online at crackerbarrel.com on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016.

This deluxe offering of Pure & Simple features 10 new tracks inspired by Parton’s East Tennessee roots. The album is complemented by several pieces of content exclusive to Cracker Barrel, including two versions of the singer’s chart-topping hits “Jolene” and “9 to 5” recorded live at Glastonbury Festival and a 48-page magazine filled with photos and interviews highlighting memorable stories from Parton. The deluxe edition also includes coupons to various Parton attractions.

To celebrate the album’s launch, Parton will host the Cracker Barrel Front Porch Series. This video series features Parton and some of today’s emerging artists as they play humorous games such as “You’re Sooooo Country,” “Real Song or Fake Song,” and “Dolly or Not Dolly.” The original content will be released on Cracker Barrel’s YouTube channel beginning Aug. 26.

Country music fans rejoice! Spotify is unveiling its newest playlist, New Traditions/Country Heroes, dedicated to spotlighting the latest music from some of country’s most iconic artists including Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, George Strait and more.

Dolly’s longtime publicist, Kirt Webster, whose powerhouse Nashville-based firm represents more than 50 legendary artists, collaborated for the creation of New Traditions/Country Heroes with Spotify’s resident country music expert, John Marks, in an effort to create a home for legacy country music acts on Spotify.
