NASHVILLE, TN — Kia Motors and YouTube have teamed up to present Rediscovered, an exclusive content series tied into the YouTube Music Awards, part of Kia’s continued support of groundbreaking music online.

RED BOW Records musical maverick Chase Bryant is one of the most celebrated new artists in today’s Country music landscape. Now, Bryant holds the honor of becoming the first Country artist selected for Kia’s trailblazing digital series, Rediscovered.

Rediscovered finds the most exciting new artists of today reaching out of their genre comfort zone to cover a classic song from the past. The stylized, high-energy documentary series explores intersecting lines between emerging and established artists by way of a legendary song.

Over the course of five new chapters available now, Rediscovered follows “Take It On Back” hit-maker Chase Bryant as he drives through the streets of Nashville discussing his journey from the small town of Orange Grove, Texas to Music City, stopping along the way to give fans a special look inside his career landmarks, including the Orbison Building and Grand Ole Opry House.

Bryant also gives fans an insider’s glance at his vintage guitar and gear collection. Fans will go behind-the-scenes with Bryant in the studio as he records his cover of the hit single, “Takin’ It To the Streets,” a song made iconic by GRAMMY Award winning band The Doobie Brothers.  While recording the legendary song, Bryant is surprised by prolific vocalist and artist Michael McDonald who – unbeknownst to Bryant - has been watching the rising star in the studio the entire time.

“I can’t tell you how excited and thankful I am about this series and to be the first Country act to do this,” said Bryant of Rediscovered. “To be able to say I got to work with Michael McDonald, whose music was the soundtrack to many years of my life, is something I’ll cherish for years, thanks to Kia. Great music never dies.”

PRESS RELEASE

Nashville, TN, March 26, 2014 – Sony Music Nashville announced this month that they will release an album teaming artists like Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Toby Keith, Zac Brown and Blake Shelton with the legendary Doobie Brothers to record a new album covering the Grammy winning band's classic hits.

The project was the brainchild of producer David Lyndon Huff, who is a decades long fan of the Doobie Brothers music. He is eager to introduce the band to a new generation of fans, excite the throngs of loyal followers as well as ignite the electric country fan base with all the superstars they love. “The Doobie Brothers are such an important band in the history of music. The hits transcend time, so with this new collection we are just adding modern production and collaborations with the country stars.”

In addition to the Doobie's founding members, Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons, who continue to front the band, the album will feature John McFee, whose history with the Doobies dates back to 1978, and legendary singer Michael McDonald, who exited in 1982 but is returning for this project. “It is so exciting to have Michael on this project,” Huff said. “He heard what we were doing and immediately wanted to be a part.”

David brought his brother Dann in to co-produce four songs on this record with him. “My brother is incredible as most of the country world knows,” David Huff said of his brother who is the mega producer behind many Nashville artists. “We have been making music together almost our whole lives. I could not be more thrilled to bring him on to the Doobies with me.”

“I think it will be the first time that Nashville will hear how very talented he is,” said Dann of his younger brother, David, who splits his time between Nashville and LA doing productions for both country and pop artists. “This really was his baby and I see it as David’s entry into the country market. I am just honored that I got to witness him work on a few songs. It’s gonna be a great record!”

VP A&R of Sony Music Jim Catino echoes Dann Huff’s praise saying, “We’re very excited about this tribute to the Doobie Brothers, and watching David at work in the studio has only added to the anticipation. His talent in reimagining these classic hits is incredible. David has done a stellar job working with each of these amazing artists and creating a great energy for the Doobies and everyone involved.”
