Larry Gatlin to Headline the Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival August 18-21, 2022

The live music event and conference will feature top songwriting talent 
& many open to the public shows


The Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival will take place in downtown Gatlinburg and surrounding area August 18-21. Nestled in the heart of The Great Smoky Mountains, the three-day conference and live music event will feature nightly shows by hit songwriters and artists in venues, including Ole Red, SkyLift Park, Park Vista Hotel, The Historic Gatlinburg Inn, The Listening Room, Ole Smoky, Shine Shack and more.

Headline shows include Grammy Award winning artist, Larry Gatlin. Brady Seals will perform his newly released single as well as his many hits. Plus, there will be a special “Legends of Bluegrass” show at Ole Smoky featuring Tim Stafford, Jerry Salley, Irene Kelley, Carl Jackson and Thom Jutz the reigning IBMA winner. The nights will be filled with stellar performances from #1 songwriters, including; Shows by Shane Stevens (“Fancy Like”-Walker Hayes), Tony Arata (“The Dance”-Garth Brooks), Danny Wells (“Check Yes Or No” - George Strait), Steve Dean (“Watching You” - Rodney Atkins), Will Nance (“She’s Everything” - Brad Paisley), and many more.

The GSF conference offers the opportunity to write with #1 Hit Songwriters, book a Master Songwriting Lecture by Larry Gatlin, acquire valuable “How To” information regarding TV & movie licensing as well as wealth management help. Songwriters can be mentored by industry professionals like, Eddie Gore and Justyna Kelley, who specialize in artist production, songwriting, and development for up-and-coming talent at Music Row’s RCA Studio C. Their newest venture, Sneaky Animals Music with legendary guitarist Steve Cropper, just signed the incredibly talented singer/songwriter Emily McGill who will also appear at the festival. Spots are limited so book them early.

MC for the event is Devon O'Day, host of Mainstream Today, whose resume includes The House Foundation, Mix92.9 Nashville, and nationally syndicated shows like Country Hitmakers, The Saturday Night House Party, and America’s #1s.

Also invited are the 6 finalists from the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development’s Tennessee Songwriters Week: Jacob Rice, Tyson Leamon, Maura Streppa, Chancellor Lawson, Josh Middleton and Robert Lee. “Tennessee Songwriters Week not only celebrates the foundation of the craft, it also lifts and presents talented songwriters from all parts of the state who are building their careers,” said Mark Ezell, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. “We’re also thrilled to support music venues and inspire travelers to experience our state’s rich music stories at museums, attractions and festivals.” Tennessee Songwriters Week 2023 is Feb. 19-25, 2023, with qualifying rounds across the state the first two weeks of the month.

DOLLY PARTON ANNOUNCES AXS TV, RFD, AND THE HEARTLAND NETWORK ADDED AS BROADCAST PARTNERS FOR SMOKY MOUNTAINS RISE TELETHON

Several famous names have been added to the growing list of celebrities set to perform during Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. (EST). Chris Stapleton, Chris Young, Big & Rich, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, LOCASH, Chris Janson and Montgomery Gentry are just a few of the new names added to perform during the event, which also has added three new broadcast partners, AXS TV, RFD and The Heartland Network. In addition, USAToday.com and USA Today National Networks to live stream the telethon on their affiliate newspaper websites, including all Tennessee newspaper sites Tennessean.com, Knoxnews.com, commercialappeal.com, jacksonsun.com, theleafchronicle.com, dnj.com, and others.

The nationally-broadcast, three-hour telethon seeks to raise money for the Dollywood Foundation My People Fund, established by Parton, The Dollywood Company and Parton’s dinner theaters in the wake of last week’s wildfires in the entertainment icon’s home area of Sevier County, Tennessee. Smoky Mountains Rise also will be simulcast across multiple radio chains, including iHeart Media's digital and select on-air platforms, Cumulus Media's NASH Nights LIVE, TuneIn's Country Roads channel, and several other platforms which are set to be announced shortly. All of the artists are donating their performances to help the effort.

“I’m truly honored that these artists are giving their time and energy to help us raise money for everyone affected by the wildfires,” Parton said. “I’ve got so many great friends in the industry, and I’m so proud that they were so ready to step up and help me help my people in the Smoky Mountains through this telethon and the My People Fund.”

The My People Fund will provide $1000 each month to Sevier County families whose homes are uninhabitable or were completely destroyed in the recent Smoky Mountain wildfires. Any family who lost their primary residence (renters and homeowners) due to the wildfires in Sevier County will be eligible. A pre-application for those affected is available at dollywoodfoundation.org.

During the telethon, viewers will be asked to call 1-866-CARE MORE to donate to the My People Fund.

Anyone who would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to the My People Fund may visit dollywoodfoundation.org. For those wishing to send donations via mail, those contributions should be sent to: My People Fund, c/o Dollywood Foundation, 111 Dollywood Lane, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863.
