Multi-platinum-selling country star Travis Tritt is taking listeners on a spiritual journey back to his roots by releasing his highly-anticipated television special and DVD, Country Chapel, with Gaither Music Group. This LIVE Gospel concert TV program and DVD, hosted by award-winning singer/songwriter Rory Feek, features songs from Tritt’s debut Gospel album, Country Chapel, and offers a soul-stirring experience as Tritt delivers powerful renditions of cherished hymns and heartfelt originals.Scheduled for release on April 26, 2024, Country Chapel invites audiences to witness Tritt's passionate testimony of redemption through new arrangements of classics like "Why Me" and "The Baptism of Jesse Taylor," alongside songs he wrote and co-wrote. When I saw Burlington, NC listed as a stop on Joseph Habedank's current Spring 2024 Tour, I knew this was a performance I could not miss. Little did I know how true that would be, even more so than I could have imagined. His music always changes me in little ways every time I hear it but this night would turn out to be something different and would change me in more ways than even I thought possible.

My best friend and I got in the car Sunday to make the drive to Burlington, looking forward to just a much needed night of worship, praise. music and time spent with good people. We got to Lakeview Community Church, walked in and took our seats completely unprepared for what was about to happen.

Tonight wasn't just another "show" though. This night was a memorial for a local young woman named Jessica Johnson, a 29 year old woman who obviously made a huge impact on the lives of everyone in the room. The service began with some heartfelt, emotional words from Jessica's dad. He spoke of how much she loved the Lord and how much she loved Joseph's music. Her dad handled entertainment bookings for the church and mentioned how he got an email from Joseph's publicist reaching out about possibly bringing his testimony and music to the church. He of course said yes and booked him. Right around the time Joseph was scheduled to perform last year, Jessica found out she had cancer. The day of the show, Joseph spent time with her, prayed with her and made one of her last days one that left her with a full heart and a smile. Jessica passed shortly after. 

The Director's Trio, a local soulful Southern gospel group, opened the service with some great harmonies. They had us smiling, clappin' and tappin' to some fantastic music. What a great way to kick off a night!

Joseph walked on stage and with Jessica's picture behind him on the screen, opened his set with her favorite song, "Big Enough". This brought tears to many eyes in the room. He talked for a bit about the connection with Jessica and her family. It made me think .. how many artists, especially globally known award winners, take the time to do that? How many artists actually choose to make personal connections like that, at least connections that don't "benefit" them in some way? Not many. This is one of the things that makes Joseph a stand out, his giving heart, his authenticity, and his spirit. He sings his heart and he sings his experience. He's someone who will stand at the merch table long after the show is over, talk to each and every person as long as they want to talk, and take all the pictures they want. He doesn't do the typical "flash and dash". It's not who he is, it's not something he has to do, it's something he wants to do. He is genuinely appreciative of each person in that room and it shows. He performed several of his songs like "Here He Comes", "The Beauty of the Blood", "Jailbreak", "Jericho" (now known as "Cherry Coke" or "Geritol" - you had to be there, trust me. LOL), "Religion Isn't Working" and "None of That Here". He told his emotional testimony of breaking the chains of addiction and turning his life around for the positive and starting his ministry to help others turn their own lives around. He has a new album coming out this Friday, April 19 called "Autobiography", the most personal songs he's ever written that tell his story of rising from the ashes to personal redemption through Christ. He sang 3 of the songs from the album, "The Basement" (this is the song that first grabbed my attention when it was released last year and kept me coming back to hear more), "The Church" (LOVE this one) and "Worthy". The night came to an end with an altar call, benediction and a final song from The Director's Trio and Joseph. Jessica's final wishes weren't for herself, they were for others. She asked her dad to make sure people laughed, that they came to know Jesus and she didn't want to just leave a legacy behind FOR others, but IN others. That hit me right where it should. I don't know Jessica but her words were needed in my own life right now and it only reinforced my own determination to be a light in the dark, to show kindness and love and to help when needed. The church was full of people and music, but the presence felt the most were those of Jessica and the Lord. 

Thank you, Jessica, for leaving that legacy in me and many others in that room. Thank you Joseph and his wife Lindsay, The Director's Trio and Lakeview Community Church for a wonderful evening with an uplifting, positive, lasting message.

"SAVED BY GRACE" - MUSIC FOR HEARTS THAT NEED HEALING AND FAITH THAT NEEDS RENEWAL

Sometimes in this chaotic changing world there is a lot against us - finances, unemployment, politics, broken relationships, illlness, loneliness, addiction, low self-esteem .. you name it, it's out there. Maybe you just feel like you'll never get the break you deserve or that prayer answered. We all need a reminder that there is something bigger than all of us and a little personal forgiveness. Regardless of how you believe, it never hurts to have faith and believe that there is something better out there for each of us. We need to be reminded of the goodness that surrounds us regardless of how dark it might seem. When something in this world brings us to our lowest and we don't think we can stand back up, the right song can come along with a message that lifts us back up. Don't just let songs like this play in the background, stop and listen to what it's saying. You might just find His grace in the words and peace in the silence between them. We could all use a little more faith.

Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road are excited to announce their brand new Gospel single, “I Cannot Bring Them Back.” The song is a powerful acapella recording that showcases the award-winning band’s tight harmonies, with Carolina Road member and Bluegrass Cardinals / Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver alumni Randy Graham singing lead. “I first heard this song on a recording by the Forbes Family and was immediately taken by its powerful message to anyone who, like myself, has lost loved ones,” explains Carolina Road member Randy Graham. “I have sung this song at the funeral of many friends and vowed if ever given the opportunity, would record and share it with the world.”

“I Cannot Bring Them Back” was written by HW Van Hoose, and was recorded in Carolina Road’s home state of North Carolina. Randy Graham’s voice shines throughout, channeling an array of different genres ranging from Bluegrass to Roots to Southern Gospel. The band’s decision to record the new single acapella highlights a different side which has rarely been seen over the years. The tone of the song gives an inspirational and occasionally haunting vibe, comparable to Bluegrass icon Ralph Stanley.

"I'm so excited about putting out the first ever acapella song from Carolina Road. When I first hired Randy Graham, all I could think about is how much great Gospel music he had put out with the Bluegrass Cardinals and Doyle Lawson,” says Lorraine Jordan. “He has the voice made for that sound. Country Star Performed Tune from Album on Saturday Night's Edition of Huckabee on TBN

Today, country music's Billy Dean announced the release of his first-ever Gospel album, Billy Dean & Friends: Gospel Favorites. The new collection of songs is available for download now at iTunes and Amazon.

Dean made the decision to record his debut Gospel album after recently moving back to his home state of Florida.

"I was so moved after being inducted into the Florida Hall of Fame that I decided it was time to move back home," explains Dean. "I was visiting my good buddy T.K. Wetherell, the former president of Florida State University, when he challenged me to record a Gospel album, which I had never done before. I agreed to do it if he would agree to record one song with me."

Wetherell agreed and the two booked a studio session in Sopchoppy, FL where the former FSU president lended his voice, reciting Kris Kristofferson's classic, "Why Me Lord." Dean added the Tallahassee Boys Choir to the track and the first album cut was complete.

"It became apparent to me this project was very important to my friend T.K. as he is battling prostate cancer," notes Dean. "A Gospel project seemed to be a welcomed distraction, so I decided to complete the album using all Florida musicians and studios for convenience for my friend."

The ten track album also features contemporary Christian artist Susan Ashton and Dean on the classic hymn, "In The Garden." Additional songs include "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "I Saw the Light," "Old Rugged Cross," and a Gospel version of Dean's 1992 hit, "If There Hadn't Been You."

Dean adds, "I want to thank my other Florida musician friends such as Brent Rader, Jeff Gargiulo and Marvin Goldstein for helping me complete my first Gospel album. A little music is medicine for the soul. And for my pal T.K., I dedicate this album to you and your wife, Ginger."

Backed by the Music City Connection and Governor Mike Huckabee on bass guitar, Dean performed "If There Hadn't Been You" on this past Saturday's edition of Huckabee. on TBN. Watch HERE.

JIMMY FORTUNE FEATURING THE OAK RIDGE BOUS HONORED WITH "BLUEGRASS RECORDED SONG OF THE YEAR" AT DOVE AWARDS

The Gospel Music Association hosted the 47th Annual Dove Awards last night at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena in Nashville. Country Music Hall of Fame member Jimmy Fortune took home the award for “Bluegrass Recorded Song of the Year” for the track “Life’s Railway to Heaven,” which features legendary quartet The Oak Ridge Boys. The song was featured on Fortune’s latest critically-acclaimed album Hits & Hymns, which became the Gospel Music Hall of Fame singer’s first solo top ten project on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

“I’m extremely honored and humbled to win my first Dove award, and sharing the win with my friends The Oak Ridge Boys makes it even more special,” said Fortune. “To be recognized by the Gospel Music Association is one of the biggest moments of my life. I will treasure it forever, and I thank God for the opportunity to do this project with producer Ben Isaacs and the Gaither Music Group community.”

“The Oak Ridge Boys were at a sound check at Renfro Valley, Ken., about twenty years ago when, out of the blue, we started singing ‘Life's Railway To Heaven,’” said Duane Allen, of The Oak Ridge Boys. “It felt so good we added it to the show that night. Since then, the song has become a regular part of our shows, so it seemed natural when Jimmy Fortune asked us to record it with him for his latest album. Now… we’re humbled and honored to hear that it has won a Dove Award. Congratulations Jimmy! Thank you for inviting us to be a part of the magic.”

Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will exclusively air the awards show on Sunday, Oct. 16. The GMA Dove Awards celebrate the contributions of artists from every style of Christian/Gospel music. Nominees are determined by over 1,600 professional members, and winners are voted on by the entire GMA membership of nearly 2,500.
