ERIC CHURCH EARNS TWO GRAMMY NOMINATIONS, FOR BEST COUNTRY ALBUM AND BEST COUNTRY SONG

Nods for Desperate Man and “Some Of It” Mark Church’s Eighth and Ninth GRAMMY Nominations

Praised as “one of the most singular working artists in any genre” by Esquire, Eric Church earns two nominations at the upcoming GRAMMY Awards; Best Country Album for his critically acclaimed project, Desperate Man, and Best Country Song for his recent No. 1 hit, “Some Of It.”

Rolling Stone described the album in their July 2018 cover story as “classic Church: expertly crafted and country-radio-friendly, while also pushing boundaries in a way that sounds natural and unforced” and American Songwriter noted in their September/October 2018 cover story that it “sublimates the pain of a tumultuous year into his most adventuresome album yet.”

The album, Church’s sixth, was celebrated as one of the year’s best by American Songwriter, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, Los Angeles Times, NPR, Rolling Stone, USA Today, Variety and Vulture, among others. This marks his third nomination for Best Country Album, having previously being honored for Chief and The Outsiders.

“Some Of It,” written by Church together with Clint Daniels, Jeff Hyde and Bobby Pinson, recently topped the charts at Country radio and also marks his third nod in the Best Country Song category, following “Springsteen” and “Give Me Back My Hometown.”

As Vulture notes, the song “coyly opens with a list of simple truths — ‘Beer don’t keep, love’s not cheap, and trucks don’t wreck themselves’ — and builds to a chorus about life being a game of patience and learning. You think he’s singing about the value of wisdom, and then the bridge deals a haymaker: ‘What really makes you a man / Is being true to her till your glass runs out of sand,’” before noting he “weaves excellence out of ordinary threads.”

However, the reflective track almost didn’t make the album. Church notes, “I was playing the album for a dear friend of ours and my wife was with me. This person loved the album, but my wife said, ‘but let me play you what did not make it,’ and the first thing she played was ‘Some Of It.’ It was always a favorite song of mine, and I listened to it that night and it is just… I am going to regret if I do not record this song. I called my manager that night and said, ‘hey we have got to talk.’ The recording was done, the record was essentially done, but I said, ‘I have got to do this, I have to add this song.’ Initially, all the stuff that I thought was going to be the pillars for this album just bombed. But I think it’s really interesting that the album took on an identity that allowed ‘Some Of It’ to make it from where it started to where it is now, and it just fit in the dialogue. To me, it made the album. I loved the album before it was on there - but it might be my favorite album now that it’s on there, so that’s the way I look at it.”

Church, whose current single, “Monsters,” is currently climbing the charts, has also earned praise for his unique Double Down Tour, which concludes this weekend in Sacramento, Calif. after visiting nearly 30 markets for back-to-back nights of marathon shows sans-opening act.

ASHLEY MCBRYDE’S “GIRL GOIN’ NOWHERE” EARNS TWO AWARD NOMINATIONS FROM THE RECORDING ACADEMY

CMA’s New Artist of the Year Ashley McBryde earned two coveted GRAMMY® nominations for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for her breakout smash, “Girl Goin’ Nowhere,” written by McBryde together with Jeremy Bussey.

“‘Girl Goin’ Nowhere’ is the song that keeps on giving,” McBryde reflects. “I was blown away by our first GRAMMY Nomination for Country Album of the Year last year. And now ‘Girl Goin’ Nowhere’ gets two nominations?! Can’t keep her down. That’s the message Jeremy Bussey and I let off the leash. She’s a fighter. I’m so honored and proud to see this song stay alive.”

“Girl Goin’ Nowhere” recounts the story of an algebra teacher McBryde had in high school who told the Arkansas native that her dream of becoming a songwriter in Nashville was stupid and that she better have a good backup plan. The powerful ballad showcases McBryde’s storytelling abilities, and as NPR noted, “It's a song that can be counted on to hush even the rowdiest club crowd.” Last year, the title track from McBryde’s major label debut album, Girl Going Nowhere, earned a place on The Fader’s Best 100 Songs of 2018 as well as NPR’s Best Songs of 2018.

Girl Going Nowhere was released in March 2018 via Atlantic Records/Warner Music Nashville. The Jay Joyce-produced album garnered the talented singer/songwriter her first GRAMMY® nomination for Best Country Album and was the only debut album nominated in the category. After notching spots on several “Best Albums of 2018” lists, McBryde also laid claim to the only debut country album on The New York Times, Paste, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, UPROXX and Variety’s year-end wrap ups and was the sole country album on Slate’s “Best Albums” list.

Having paid her dues in dive bars, McBryde spent 11 years in Nashville writing songs and playing for anyone who would listen. With the release of Girl Going Nowhere, McBryde proves she’s got what it takes. Put simply by NPR, “Ashley McBryde established herself as country music’s most charismatic, naturalistic new voice.”

The awards will be presented Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 during a live television broadcast of the 62nd Annual GRAMMY® Awards on CBS.

TANYA TUCKER NOMINATED FOR FOUR GRAMMY® AWARDS, LEADS ALL COUNTRY NOMINEES

NOMINATIONS INCLUDE SONG OF THE YEAR AND COUNTRY ALBUM OF THE YEAR

WHILE I'M LIVIN', TUCKER'S FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 17 YEARS, PRODUCED BY BRANDI CARLILE AND SHOOTER JENNINGS

Tanya Tucker received four GRAMMY® Award nominations including Song Of The Year: “Bring My Flowers Now,” Best Country Album: While I'm Livin’, Best Country Solo Performance: “Bring My Flowers Now,” and Best Country Song: “Bring My Flowers Now.” The four nominations lead all 2020 Country GRAMMY® nominees. Produced by Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings, While I’m Livin’, Tucker’s first new album in 17 years was released in August. The 62nd Annual GRAMMY® Awards will take place on January 26, 2020 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“I wish I had a trampoline to jump on right now! This is just unbelievable,” says Tucker. “I couldn’t have done this without the fans, Brandi and Shooter, and the whole Tanya Tucker Team. What’s different now more than ever is the fans on social media and streaming made this record an instant success. What just happened, I’d never, ever fathom.”

The four nominations mark a career high for the original country outlaw. Nominated for 10 GRAMMY® Awards over her illustrious five-decade career, Tucker landed her first nomination with “Delta Dawn” in 1972 for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Female.

The critically acclaimed album, which The New Yorker declares, “captures one of America’s great vocalists at her peak,” and Rolling Stone calls “a stunning exuberant album that ranks among the year’s best,” is produced by Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings and marks Tucker’s first for Fantasy Records and Sawyer & Garner Management. The record is her first Top Ten debut and tenth Top 10 album.

While I’m Livin’ is largely comprised of songs written by Carlile, the twins Tim and Phil Hanseroth and Tucker. “It’s a musical biography of sorts,” said Carlile, “about Tanya’s real life and the places she’s seen, and it’s narrated by the greatest country and western singer this side of Johnny Cash.”

Tucker is currently touring the U.S. with performances slated at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA and Ryman Auditorium in Nashville (see full list below). Variety says of Tucker’s recent sold-out performances at The Troubadour, “How many of us took Cash or Haggard for granted enough to pass up easy opportunities to see them on their last tours, but would pay thousands of dollars for the opportunity now? These are mistakes we have a chance to atone up for by seeing Tucker while she’s living. And strutting.” Tickets and VIP packages are available HERE.

BRANDY CLARK LANDS TWO MUCH DESERVED GRAMMY NOMINATIONS (AND SHOULD WIN)

Now six career GRAMMY nominations for “country music’s most reliable character witness” (The Washington Post)

In another example of a year to be remembered, 2016 has distinctly highlighted the hard work and dedication of acclaimed singer/songwriter Brandy Clark. Announced earlier today on Grammy.com, CMA-Award winner Brandy Clark received nominations for Best Country Album for Big Day in a Small Town and Best Country Solo Performance for “Love Can Go to Hell” off the sophomore album. Released this summer, Big Day in a Small Town debuted Top 10 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and quickly gained the attention of critics including Laura Snapes of The Guardian, who praised "(Big Day) speaks to a vast audience who weren’t hearing themselves in country."

Clark, whom The Plain Dealer's Chuck Yarborough calls "the best wordsmith in Nashville," landed on multiple critics' "best of" lists this year, including Rolling Stone's 25 Best Country & Americana Albums So Far and 45 Best Albums of 2016 So Far, TIME Magazine's Best Songs of 2016 So Far, NPR's Top 100 Songs of 2016 and Songs We Love, and American Songwriter's Top 50 Albums of 2016.

"I put my whole heart into Big Day in a Small Town, as did all of the co-writers, musicians, and producer Jay Joyce," shares Clark, "So for it to be so well-received not only by the fans and press, but now also by the GRAMMYs is a really sweet reward."

Celebrated for her keen depiction of small towns and their antiheroes, Clark's bold second album Big Day in a Small Town has been revered as "gritty and visceral" (Associated Press), "aggressive and big-grinned" (SPIN) and was described by SALON Magazine's Erik Nelson as "simultaneously harrowing, cynical, uplifting and just plain funny.”

"When you memorialize human lives with this level of care, you’re writing music that’s meant to last," read a review from The Washington Post's Chris Richards, "Like Clark’s protagonists, these songs want to survive. And they will."

The Jay-Joyce-produced album has garnered national praise by fans and critics alike, including Wall Street Journal heralding it an album that presents “country-song genius on the order that Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard got us used to,” and Rolling Stone saying it’s “music tooled alternately for stadiums and songwriting circles, commercial and public radio, line-dance bars and coffee shops.”

Big Day in a Small Town is the "cousin" to Clark's critically-acclaimed debut album12 Stories which was featured on "Best of" lists from New York Magazine, NPR, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, New York Post and The Boston Globe in 2013. That same year, Los Angeles Times called it “the country debut of the year."

KELSEA BALLERINI NOMINATED FOR BEST NEW ARTIST AT THE 59th ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS

“Peter Pan” Soars To Platinum Success; Fantasy-Themed Single Is Her Second 1-Million Seller
“Yeah Boy” Quickly Climbing The Country Radio Charts

Quickly becoming one of country’s most beloved new superstars, KELSEA BALLERINI is nominated for Best New Artist in the all-genre category at the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards on February 12.

Humbled by receiving her first GRAMMY nomination, Ballerini instantly took to social media Tuesday morning to share her sweet reaction. “I was 15 the first time I saw a GRAMMY. It was in a studio I was recording some of my first demos in. I remember asking if I could hold it, being its biggest fan, and knowing how important it was,” she recalled on Instagram. “I wish I could go back and tell that 15 year old starry eyed girl that she'd be nominated a few years later. #BestNewArtist @recordingacademy” Read her additional tweet here.

She also took a moment to record a special video message to her fans:

The Black River artist is also celebrating her fastest-selling single to date, “Peter Pan,” which has now been officially certified PLATINUM by the RIAA.

An epic, girl-power anthem about a love interest who will never grow up, “Peter Pan” was co-written by Ballerini with Jesse Lee and Forest Glen Whitehead and is her second taste of PLATINUM success following the breakout debut, “Love Me Like You Mean It.” Both tracks, plus the GOLD-certified “Dibs,” were part of Ballerini’s groundbreaking first album, THE FIRST TIME.

"PLATINUM IS SO MANY. Knowing this song had the reaction it did and that a million people liked it enough to welcome it into their radios and stereos and lives is so incredible," Ballerini shares. "As a songwriter, that is one of my proudest accomplishments so far."

Resonating strongly with country fans since its release in March, “Peter Pan” was already a historic milestone, making Ballerini the first female artist – including duos or groups – to hit #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with her first three singles. Simultaneously, the fantasy-themed tune rose to the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, also making Ballerini the first female artist to score a double #1.

A visually-stunning video for the track was directed by Kristin Barlowe and has already been viewed over 22 million times on YouTube, which can be watched here.

Heading for a strong finish to 2016, Ballerini kicked off her first ever headlining tour – aptly titled THE FIRST TIME TOUR – claiming sold out dates in Washington, D.C., her hometown of Knoxville, TN, Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, MN, Boston, New York City, and Buffalo, NY. The tour continues this week with upcoming shows at The Wiltern in Los Angeles (12/8) and a two-night run at Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas (12/9-10) before wrapping in Houston, TX (12/14).

Meanwhile, Ballerini’s new single – the fun-and-flirty “Yeah Boy” – is currently making its way up the charts. She’ll also perform at Kelly Clarkson’s Miracle on Broadway benefit concert in Nashville, TN on December 16.

ANDY GRIGGS' LATEST PROJECT, NAKED, LANDS ON INITIAL GRAMMY BALLOT IN FOUR CATEGORIES

Album of the Year, Best Country Album, Song of the Year ("Me On His Mind"), and Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance

Nashville, Tenn. (October 23, 2013) - Andy Griggs often says, “there is no defining a style of song. As long as there’s soul, it has a place in music.” Griggs took these words to heart when he set out to record and produce his latest album, NAKED, which is all acoustic...one singer/songwriter, one guitar, one track.
"I am honored that my music is being recognized by the members of the Grammy's (National Recording Academy), and my peers. It is a very humbling experience,” says Andy Griggs.

Country Weekly says “most listeners latch onto a song because of a melody, a voice or a lyric. So Andy Griggs did something really clever. He stripped away the high-tech production on his new album, Naked, and presents the things you love—a melody, a voice and an amazing stack of songs.” Armed with just his guitar and accompanied by his earthy soul-filled vocals, Griggs penned original tunes for his new offering, as well as covered songs from artists that influenced him like Waylon’s “Old Timer” and Willie’s “Angel Flying Too Close To the Ground.” Country Weekly bestowed it with 4 stars, the highest rating Griggs has had on any album.

“Me On His Mind," the song that has landed on the initial Grammy ballot for "Song of the Year" and for "Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance” has a very special meaning to Griggs. "What can I say? How could I end an acoustic album without my brother? I can’t. I was 18yrs old and I walked into the living room late one night to him singin’ a song that he had just written. He said, ”Check this out!” and started over. Luckily, he had a little tape recorder on the coffee table and pushed record. Now my brother wrote some incredible songs in his short life, but this one goes above and beyond. He died three weeks later. It took a long time for me to listen to that cassette tape that now sits tightly in my gun safe. When I play that song, I close my eyes, choke back a tear and smile and think about him singin’ that song to his little brother, not knowing how much it would relate to me later in life."

TATE STEVENS TO BE FEATURED AT GRAMMYS

THE X FACTOR WINNER TATE STEVENS TO BE FEATURED AT THE 55TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS

Pepsi to Debut Stevens’ New Music Video for “Holler If You’re With Me” During Awards Show; Song Available for Download Beginning February 5 on iTunes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belton, Missouri native Tate Stevens captivated viewers worldwide on FOX’s The X Factor Season 2 with his emotive and powerful country vocal performances—never placing less than second throughout the entire competition. Now, from appearances on one star-studded stage to the next, Stevens will unveil a first look of his debut music video for the song “Holler If You’re With Me,” at the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards on February 10 on CBS at 8 p.m. EST/PST. The new music video will debut during the GRAMMY broadcast complements of The X Factor sponsor Pepsi, as part of the grand prize awarded to Stevens in addition to his $5 million recording contract with Syco Music/RCA Nashville.

Additionally, the song, “Holler If You’re With Me,” will be available for download on iTunes beginning Tuesday, February 5.

Starting out the competition as a 37-year-old blue collar construction worker with humble roots and a seemingly far-fetched dream of becoming a country music superstar, Stevens’ recent win on The X Factor proved to the world that in fact, dreams do come true. “Things are moving very fast since the finale of X Factor, and we’re already laying down tracks for my new album that will be out this spring. I truly feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity,” Stevens says.

Viewers of the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards can expect the new video “Holler If You’re With Me” to be what Stevens calls “a feel good anthem song,” and the accompanying video to encompass the picturesque scenery of Simi Valley, Calif. “Having chased this dream for nearly a decade, I was certainly familiar with the concept of a music video, but I had no idea what to expect. In spite of the 50 mph winds, everyone on the set had a great time. It’s a party song and so it was only fitting that we threw a party! I’m sure more than a few folks watching the GRAMMYs at home can relate,” Stevens says beaming.

As spring approaches, Stevens is gearing up for the release of his debut country album, which he says will have an overall upbeat, feel-good tone. A true singer’s singer and songwriter, he plans to write many of the songs on the record, teaming up with Rhett Akins, Ben Hayslip, Shane Minor and David Lee Murphy. Renowned Nashville producer, Blake Chancey, will produce the record.

Included in his co-writes for the album, Stevens recently collaborated with his long-time idol, country singer/songwriter Joe Diffie. “The moment I sat down in that room with Joe it hit me – this is my life now, this is my chance to follow in the path of my heroes and make my own unique mark on the genre – and that’s exactly what I plan to do.”
