SINGLE REVIEW

The title of the Waylon Jennings song, Where Does Love Go asks us to ponder an almost esoteric question. The lyrics in the song “Something so real don't just disappear, If it goes away it must go somewhere” further exasperates this inquiry.

Enter Jana Kramer's song, Love. She sings optimistically about all the things that she believes in, but passionately wonders about the curious characteristics of love, such as, “love, I don't know where you ran off to.” However, the fitting climax are theses words, “But, love, love, love I still believe in you.” That my friends is the powerful answer to the question that came straight from the Hoss's mouth. Love is rooted in belief and faith.

Thank you Waylon for this soulful question and thank you Jana for your powerful answer. George Jones sang, “like the outlaw who walks through Jesse's dreams,” because Waylon's love was found in Jessi Coulter, I hope mine is found in my own wife. Happy Anniversary, Honey. I hope you still believe like Jana, “in wedding rings and bibles and the best walk you’ll ever take, Is walking down the aisle” I know that I do.

Make sure you do not miss the powerful, special and bonus love that is offered both in audio and video in Jana Kramer - "Love" (Official Music Video)

SINGLE REVIEW: "BROTHERS OF THE SOUTHLAND" - BLACKHAWK

SINGLE: "Brothers of the Southland"
ARTIST: Blackhawk
REVIEWER: Han Van Meegerin
Follow Han on Twitter at @HanVanMeegerin

Brothers of the Southland is the lead single off of Blackhawk's new album that is fittingly titled, “Brothers of the Southland.” It is a revival of the tune that debuted on Blackhawk's album "Spirit Dancers" that was released in 2002.

Lead singers Henry Paul and Dave Robbin provide a vocal uniqueness that drawls the listener in with the opening lyrics. However, the real treat comes in the verses that follow and pay tribute to some legends and heavy hitters of the southern rock genre. These are men that stood tall and stood true as brothers that shaped this style of music.

Songs that give tribute are important. They not only serve the purpose of recognizing the efforts and the inspirations of those that blazed an a earlier path, but also potentially introduce the honorees to another generation of fans.

Blackhawk, with their "Brothers of the the Southland”, bear witness to the great band members from The Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers and The Outlaws. For this, we owe them our gratitude and, if nothing else, a respectful tip of our hat.

The new cd is available for PRE-ORDER on both iTunes and Amazon with an expected release date of July 8, 2014.

SINGLE REVIEW: "BUZZIN" - BUCKY COVINGTON

SINGLE: "Buzzin'"
ARTIST: Bucky Covington
REVIEWER: Han Van Meegerin
Follow Han on Twitter at @HanVanMeegerin

After a winter season that had much of the country shivering from the cold and digging out from the snow, there is no excuse to sing “there ain't no cure for the summer time blues.” Bucky Covington  has the cure. It is called “Buzzin'” on summer time. Now this song that should warm even the coldest of misers.

"Buzzin"' is Covington's debut single off his first independently produced project. Given that Independence Day is celebrated on July 4, smack dab in the middle of summer, I think Covington's "Buzzin'" is a more than fitting celebration of both independence and summer.

Though not in proper order, let's all take Bucky's summer advice. Let's sip on some sunshine each of the seven days a week and hope it never ends. Hopefully, this will drive up our heat wave and produce new found love on the vine.

It's your summer. The question is, are you going to be buzzin'?

Get your summer buzz on and download "Buzzin" on iTunes and Amazon. Be sure to leave a review and tell people what you think of Bucky's new single!

SINGLE REVIEW: "I CAN'T WAIT (BE MY WIFE)" - BEN RUE

SINGLE: "I Can't Wait (Be My Wife)"

The next time someone asks "Ben who?", stand up, put your hands together and make some noise for Ben Rue. His single,“I Can't Wait Be My Wife” is sure to please many a listener.

Rue touches all the right chords as he croons in anticipation of the parsing of the words, “I Do” from his lips. His song, both in tune and in lyrics, definitely tastes like young and true love.

Had I any creativity, I would have written these same words and sung them to my bride back in my day. However, now after some years of marriage and with an anniversary coming up, I can now steal some lines from this Ben Rue tune and hopefully score a little a better late than never.

It's no secret that many marriages fall apart. However, Rue offers this poignant reminder about why some of us took our marriage vows in the first place. The words “This is the way I feel. I can't wait for you to be my wife, to live this life together... You are are my heart forever... on and on and on” should be a daily reflection of all married partners. Perhaps, if more married folks kept these words and feelings in their hearts, there would be less divorce and failed marriages.

You can purchase "I Can't Wait (Be My Wife)" on iTunes and Amazon. Please be sure to leave a review after your purchase!

SINGLE REVIEW: "THE AUTISM SONG" - JOHNNY ORR

Single: "We'll Get By (The Autism Song)"
Artist: Johnny Orr Band
Reviewer: Han Van Meegerin
Twitter: @HanVanMeegerin

Johnny Orr's voice soothes and comforts as he offers, We'll Get By (The Autism Song), a vision of life through the eyes of an individual touched with autism. Autism is not just a condition, it is a way of life. Though many with autism live in a solitary prison, it tends to be a family and community affair.

Merle Haggard sings of being A Branded Man upon release from prison. Those with autism are branded while their condition imprisons them.

David Allen Coe's You Never Even Call Me by My Name, defines a  perfect country and western song as one that speaks of mama and prison. Simply by that standard, Johnny Orr aces his song. However, his perfection cuts deeper as he drives his nails through the body and finds the soul. He finds his mark, but leaves no scar.

Here's reality for you: If autism is your way of life; as the prisoner, the parent, the educator or significant other, Johnny Orr will touch your chord and find your voice. Listen to the We'll Get By (The Autism Song), watch the video, buy the single and then spread the word. In short, make a difference.

SINGLE REVIEW: "ONE" - BRANDON CHASE

Single: "One"
Artist: Brandon Chase
Reviewer: Han Van Meegerin
Twitter: @HanVanMeegerin

Brandon Chase is already setting the world a ablaze with his first single, "One" off his first album. "One" is a form fitting first single for Chase as he intuitively taps into the true power of one. For most people breathing comes easy, but that was not the case for Chase. Despite obstacles, his tiny body fought to defy death by building upon one successful breath after another. Truly living one day  at a time, his life's journey is one of inspiration.

"One" is not a novel song topic. It is the typical boy meets girl, boy wants and needs girl tale. In this case, the blue eyes of a maiden capture the one heart of a young Casanova. This sets off the all too familiar feelings of love and lust that blend together as one.

However, young Chase sings a passionate style into his character that makes this song unique.. The seducer knows the power of one. He has set up his dominoes all in a row. The question is can he knock the first one over, "one night", and benefit from the cascading affect of all the dominoes falling down one at a time and neatly lead to the desired destination.

Other singers offer more bravado when they call for a little less talk and a lot more action, however, Brandon Chase achieves the same by working the mastery of the power of one. He too wants his man to cut to the chase, but he allows it in a more delicate and romantic sort of way. My bet is this fellow gets the one night and each of the one days and one nights that then follow in succession.

You can purchase "One" on iTunes and Amazon.

SINGLE REVIEW: "THEY ALL FALL DOWN (THE BARN SONG)" - TYLER BARHAM

Single: "They All Fall Down (The Barn Song)"
Artist: Tyler Barham
Reviewed By: Han Van Meegerin
Twitter: @hanvanmeegerin

Sometimes it takes a rooster crowing for us to to notice the dawning of a new day. Tyler Barham is that rooster in his song, "They All Fall Down (The Barn Song)". As Barham sings in a new day, he looks beyond the husk of a haggard barn and an empty yard and recalls what was once was a proud center of life that bustled with activity.

This is a melancholy tune. The soft and gentle music style combined with Barham's smooth voice invite listeners to become almost one with the song and to reflect upon the meaning of life through the image of a barn.

All of us are our own barns with the potential for much activity and purpose. However, none of us are exempt from the reality that just as all barns fall down, our lives will one day end and we will become one with the earth.

Turn on Tyler Barham's They All Fall Down, sit back and close your eyes. Who were the barns that rose and fell in your life? What did they stand for and what purpose did they serve?

Make sure to examine your own barn and make sure it is a hub of meaningful activity before it too falls.

SINGLE REVIEW: "FORWARD" - 2STEEL GIRLS

Song: "Forward"
Artist: 2Steel Girls
Written by Han Van Meegerin
Twitter: @HanVanMeegerin

Allison and Krystal Steel are a mother and daughter duo that make up 2Steel Girls. On their resume they can lay claim that Blake Shelton coached them on Team Blake in season three of NBC's "The Voice".
Every rodeo cowboy and cowgirl understands all too well what it means to get up from a fall, dust off and ride again. This is often easier said than done. However, if everyone was privy to 2Steel Girls and their powerful and inspirational vocal delivery on their single “Forward,” the job would be much easier.

The voices of 2Steel Girls cry out and sound all too understanding of the hurt that comes from being told no, being knocked around and having people lose their belief in you.

Listening to these two beautiful voices alone and in unison, one cannot help but get fired up, and want to carry the fight to the day and leave nothing left behind on the table.

If you are down and out and need some inspiration or you just want to treat your ears and soul to some sounds of comfort, turn to 2Steel Girls and play “Forward.” If that can't get you going, I don't know what will.

SINGLE REVIEW: "DRUNK DIAL" - A THOUSAND HORSES

Single: "Drunk Dial"
Artist: A Thousand Horses
Written By: Han Van Meegerin
Twitter: @HanVanMeegerin

One doesn't need the powerful sound of an iron horse when the collective voice of A Thousand Horses is on the phone. “Drunk Dial” is their new single.

When I heard the opening lines to “Drunk Dial,”“Girl don't hang up, I called on purpose” in a twangy southern sound, my mind dialed up some Aaron Tippin, “Don't hang up the phone 'cause everything's not gone.” As the song unfolds, I hear further similarity in the meaning and sound of A Thousand Horses,“This ain't no drunk dial” and Tippin's,“Cause there's a whole lotta love on the line.”

Many people will relate to taking the long way home, listening to a song of courage and promising to remember what they will say. The lines “I know I ain't called in awhile” sound eerily like this phone call: “I know I've been away too long. I never got a chance to write or call” from George Strait's song, “I Can Still Make Cheyenne.” One hopes that it will produce a better outcome

This ain't no drunk dial is a powerful plea. The question is, after 3 minutes and 25 seconds will listeners keep A Thousand Horses on the line or simply hang up the phone on “Drunk Dial.” This listener heard the message and will keep “Drunk Dial” in my play list.

SINGLE REVIEW: "FREEDOM LIKE THIS" - AARON CRAWFORD

Song: "Freedom Like This"
Written by Han Van Meegerin
Twitter: @HanVanMeegerin

Freedom Like This” is a single from Aaron Crawford's "Modern Day American Dream" album. It reminds me of Meatloaf's "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad". The song tells of a man who suggests to his woman that they leave town in the middle of the night and scurry toward the state line. He'll have his car, with gal at his right side and his life savings in his left pocket. The left pocket sounds like the one of the three.

These two lovers seem to have done nothing illegal. However, they are bit like a version of Bonnie of Clyde, stealing away with their love and running from folks who may believe they are chasing the wrong sort of freedom. One wonders if someone will catch them and haul them back to their launching pad or will Clyde's well of life savings in that left pocket run dry too soon.

It's an age old theme of two lovers running in search of freedom. However, as many Americans face fewer options in this uncertain economy, I think Crawford's “Freedom Like This” will resonate with people and fall upon ears able to relate to this all too common predicament.
