JOHN FOGERTY AND KEITH URBAN RECORD "ALMOST SATURDAY NIGHT"

When John Fogerty was approached with the idea to "get a bunch of the people that you really love and do your songs," his new album 'Wrote A Song For Everyone' came to life.

One of the classics on the album, "Almost Saturday Night," was a song written by John in, "a really dark time for me, and yet I wrote this cheerful song right in the middle of it."

The song has a great deal of meaning for him, which is why John decided to give country superstar and legend Keith Urban a call to join him on the track for his new album 'Wrote A Song For Everyone.' Urban brings a new blast of energy with his guitar, banjo and unique sound. John said Keith, "is an incredible monster musician, probably the greatest musician on this record."

The respect is mutual for these two musicians. In Keith's interview below he describes the emotions that took place in the studio while recording "Almost Saturday Night." He says, "There's nothing like being in the studio, you've got the headphones on, and suddenly there's John's voice…That was a real magical moment for me."

"The two had the "best time doing this song," and the finished product shows it. Play the video below to step into the studio with John Fogerty and Keith Urban, and watch footage of the behind-the-scenes work that went into the making of the track.

You can pre-order the album here now, on iTunes or Amazon prior to the release on May 28th!

FOGERTY also recorded his classic “Lodi” with his sons Shane and Tyler Fogerty at Abbey Road Studios in London.

As FOGERTY explains in a cover story in the current (January/February) “Legends” issue of American Songwriter: “I encouraged each of these artists to come up with their own vision of my song, rather than just redoing what I’d recorded in the past. I was hoping they’d have some different twist so it would be fresh, so I’d have to work, too. I wanted it to be something new.”

WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE marks FOGERTY's ninth studio solo album since disbanding Creedence Clearwater Revival.  Mixed by Bob Clearmountain, it was recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville except for "Proud Mary" which was recorded in New Orleans with AllenToussaint and the Rebirth Brass Band.  FOGERTY recorded “Fortunate Son” with Foo Fighters at their 606 studio using "the" legendary Neve recording console featured in the #1 iTunes documentary Sound City. FOGERTY has performed with the Sound City Players, the all-star band assembled by Dave Grohl to play the music created for the film and other classics, at recent shows at both the Sundance Film Festival and the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

JOHN FOGERTY will tour in 2013 and look for him to be at this year’s SXSW in Austin (dates/events TBA).
