RYMAN AUDITORIUM CELEBRATES 65 YEARS OF JOHNNY & JUNE WITH POP-UP EXHIBIT OPENING JULY 7

It was backstage at the Mother Church that one of Country Music’s most celebrated love stories began. On the night of Johnny Cash’s Grand Ole Opry debut on July 7, 1956, a 27-year-old June Carter bumped into a 24-year-old Johnny Cash backstage at Ryman Auditorium. A smitten Cash reportedly told Carter that night he knew he was going to marry her someday. The two would go on to marry and continue to perform at the Ryman throughout their careers.

The Ryman is celebrating the 65th anniversary of that historic night with a special pop-up exhibit featuring artifacts from both the Ryman and Johnny Cash Museum collections. Items on display include a black Oscar Schmidt autoharp, owned by Maybelle Carter in the 1960s and later played by Carter Cash during live performances. Rounding out the exhibit, the Cash Museum has loaned a dress worn by Carter Cash from their collection in addition to a suit worn by Cash.

“We are so thrilled to team up with our local partners at the Johnny Cash Museum to celebrate one of Country Music’s most iconic love stories,” said Gary Levy, Ryman Auditorium General Manager. “Johnny and June have such a strong connection to the Ryman, and we are excited to share these beautiful artifacts alongside the Johnny Cash Museum, which has the most comprehensive collection of Johnny Cash artifacts and memorabilia in the world.”

“It's an honor to be involved in this celebratory exhibit at the legendary Ryman Auditorium,” said Bill Miller, Founder/CEO of the Johnny Cash Museum. “Johnny and June, individually and collectively, spent many, many hours in that beautiful building. It's very gratifying that their presence will be felt there again through this special exhibit.”

The Johnny & June pop-up exhibit will be available as part of the Ryman daytime tour experience beginning July 7. Johnny Cash Museum and the Ryman have teamed up to offer a ticket bundle for self-guided tours of both the Ryman and Cash Museum for $40. Tickets will be available at ryman.com/johnny-and-june.

NEW MODERN COUNTRY FROM NASHVILLE - THE SLVR TONGUES NEW SINGLE "JOHNNY CASH"

The SLVR Tongues met at a Western bar on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California. It all started when Hannah Huntley decided to sing some super drunk karaoke one night, and James Lynch realized that, though heavily intoxicated, Hannah actually had some pipes on her. The two began writing soon after. Feeling the need for an extra instrumental punch, the band recruited Peter Erik as the lead guitarist and third member of The SLVR Tongues.

The song "Johnny Cash" was actually only the second song that The SLVR Tongues ever wrote together. The song is meant to capture the aftermath of just another night in the life of The SLVR Tongues on the gritty, glitzy, Hollywood streets. Johnny Cash lived his earlier life as a true maverick, and the song is an homage to his lifestyle, and to The SLVR Tongues' idea of the American Spirit as a whole.

Teaming up with Top 40 Billboard charting producer, Jordan Richman (wrote and produced the international hit "Boomerang" by JoJo Siwa, and is a two time International Songwriting Competition winner), the SLVR Tongues continued to write and develop their sound.

After being discovered by Preston Sullivan, the band signed a management contract with Sullivan's Nashville based company, Global Eyes Entertainment, and relocated to Tennessee.

Once established in Nashville, The SLVR Tongues immediately immersed themselves in its vibrant music scene, and began co-writing with other artists, most notably RIAA certified Gold recording artist, Danny Worsnop (We are Harlot/Ex-Asking Alexandria).

As The SLVR Tongues continue their music exploration, their goal is to capture their stories, memories and adventures of living life to the fullest, whether in L.A., Nashville, or over seas. No matter if their in love, broken, drunk, or pissed off, you'd better believe you're gonna hear about it.

Update on the Johnny Cash Museum

NASHVILLE, Tenn - Mayor Karl Dean, the Cash family and friends and founders Bill and Shannon Miller welcomed press and industry executives to the future home of The Johnny Cash Museum on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Located at 119 Third Avenue South between Demonbreun and Broadway, the museum will be en route between the tourist circulated Broadway strip and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

"It has been a lifelong dream of mine to showcase Johnny Cash's life and career in a world-class exhibit for all his fans from around the world to enjoy,” says founder Bill Miller. “Today we take the first step in making that dream a reality by announcing the birth of the Johnny Cash Museum, a world-class attraction opening in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. This venue will feature the world's largest, most comprehensive and important collection of Cash artifacts and memorabilia anywhere in the world. I am honored that Johnny's children and family have joined us in enthusiastically supporting our project by sharing their precious artifacts with his fans."

The Johnny Cash Museum is projected to open its doors in summer 2012. Many never before seen historical documents, letters, awards, costumes and instruments will take the visitor on a three dimensional journey through Johnny Cash’s life with innovative interactions via the Nashville based Griffin Technologies. The museum unites the extensive and acclaimed collection of Bill Miller, longtime friend of Cash’s and founder of the official Johnny Cash website www.JohnnyCash.Com, and pieces from friends, colleagues and family members including his daughters, son and siblings. The collection will feature the earliest known Johnny Cash letters and documents as well as the handwritten manuscript to the last song ever written by the prolific songwriter, just days before his passing. Visitors also will be given an extensive look into Cash’s non-entertainment related life including his childhood and early adulthood and his service in the United States Air Force.

The museum will occupy the site at 119 Third Avenue South with Phase One featuring a museum store, permanent exhibits and a multipurpose venue for performances, special exhibits and other events. Phase Two includes absorbing the balance of the ground floor space as it becomes available, as well as the top floor, bringing the ultimate square footage of the museum facility to 18,000 square feet. Plans include additional exhibit space, an enlarged performance area, an onsite food venue and working archives.
