NASHVILLE SONGWRITER HALL OF FAME MEMBER AND MEGA-HIT SONGWRITER, KENT BLAZY, ANNOUNCES ALBUM RELEASE, "FOR THE BYRDS"

Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame member. mega-hit songwriter and performer, Kent Blazy, has announced the release of his new album, For The Byrds, recorded, mixed and engineered by Matt Allen at Allentown Studios located in Nashville, TN with mastering by Mayfield Mastering. Kent Blazy and Steve Allen wrote all the songs on the project, except the title track which was written by Blazy. Studio musicians included Lee Francis on bass, Kevin Murphy played drums, Dennis Matkosky provided keys, Steve Allen on guitars and harmony vocals and Kent Blazy on guitar and vocals. The new music is available to order on Kent Blazy’s website kentblazy.com. Streaming and download is available on all digital music platforms kentblazy.hearnow.com/for-the-byrds.

“This record was so much fun to create. We had one day to cut 11 songs and Lee Francis and Kevin Murphy from Jon Pardi's band were up for the challenge. Both did an amazing job, as did the engineer, Matt Allen, to capture everything under the pressure of that time frame,” shared Kent Blazy.

“Kent and I have been writing together for the last couple of years and we always end up with a finished song with no agenda of style. This record has 10 songs we co-wrote during the pandemic. I think this is why the range of style goes from the 60’s garage sound of ‘Livin’ The American Dream’ to the past era ballad of ‘Twilight Time.’ We felt free to let whatever songs wanted to come out and exist just happen, yet it all flows as one long-playing album. Everybody put their heart and soul into the project and we all are proud of this album. Kent’s creative energy brought us all together to make an album we are all excited for people to hear,” added Steve Allen.

The title, For The Byrds, was chosen, as it was after hearing the song “Mr. Tambourine Man” that Blazy decided he wanted to play guitar. Many people started playing music themselves because of the Beatles, yet for Kent Blazy, it was the sound of Roger McGuinn's Rickenbacker 12-string that captivated him. That is why a picture of a Rickenbacker 12-string graces the front cover of the record. His hopes are that this record will bring the joy and fun that they had writing and recording these songs. Most of the songs were written during the Covid-19 lockdown. Steve Allen would sit on Kent’s patio while Kent sat six feet away in the house. Later they stayed masked and six feet away while writing in the house. Both writers lost their wives to brain tumors and a lot of these songs are about the new loves they both found.

Mega hit songwriter and performer, Kent Blazy, was inducted into the class of 2020 Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame during the Golden Anniversary plus one during the special 50th And 51st Gala. The Kentucky native songwriter credits include “If Tomorrow Never Comes” (Garth Brooks), “Ain’t Goin’ Down (’Til The Sun Comes Up)” (Garth Brooks) and “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)” (Chris Young). Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member Garth Brooks took the stage to present inductee Kent Blazy and also perform their hit “If Tomorrow Never Comes.” Blazy and Brooks met in 1987 and began writing together. This song was not only their first collaboration, but also became Brooks’ first #1 single. In 1989 it was named NSAI’s Song of the Year.

“November 1, 2021 will always be a life-changing day for me. Getting inducted to the NSHOF seems like a distant dream for a new songwriter in Music City. You see all the names of the legends and heroes who have been inducted, and you use them as an inspiration to write, write, write,” exclaimed Kent Blazy! “Then one day you get the call that says you will be one of the new inductees. It's the highest honor a Nashville songwriter can have, and I am grateful for all the writers who helped me get there. At the same time, I keep pinching myself that the distant dream is truly a reality. This night will be a dream come true.

The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame welcomed ten new members into its ranks as the Classes of 2020 and 2021 were officially honored during NaSHOF’s supersized 50th and 51st Anniversary Hall of Fame Gala. The musical contributions of the newest inductees were celebrated through star-studded performances of some of their biggest songs for the capacity crowd at Nashville’s Music City Center.

The Class Of 2020 include Kent Blazy and Brett James in the songwriter category; Spooner Oldham in the veteran songwriter category, Steve Earle in the songwriter/artist category and Bobbie Gentry in the veteran songwriter/artist category.

MEGA HIT SONGWRITER, KENT BLAZY, ANNOUNCES ALBUM RELEASE, "ME & MY GUITAR"

Mega hit songwriter and performer, Kent Blazy, has announced the release of his new album, "Me & My Guitar", recorded and mixed by Engineered by Matt Allen at Allentown Studios located in Nashville, TN and mastered by Mayfield Mastering. Kent Blazy and Josh Martin recorded all guitar and vocals on the project and collaboration of Human Touch Guitars by Jayboy Adams. The new music is available to order on Kent Blazy’s website kentblazy.com. Streaming and download is available on all digital music platforms here.

“This is the second record I have written and recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown. These songs are an aerial view of what I was watching in the past year and what the possibilities will be in the future. My aim was to create hope, joy and gratitude and of course, fun,” exclaimed Kent Blazy.

“I am so proud to have co-written “Song Man” on Kent Blazy’s new record with him. He is a true song man and an inspiration to all dreamers that make the Nashville trek,” shared Cory Batten. Oh, and he’s now in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.”

After doing the "Authentic" record with a full band in July 2020, it was fun for Blazy to go into the studio with the amazing Josh Martin and do an acoustic record. "Me & My Guitar" tells the story of where six strings has led him and where he is still aiming to go. The project is a compliment, companion and continuation to the Authentic recording he released in 2020.

The song “Me & My Guitar” talks about his guitar feeling like a gift from Merlin, just like King Artur and his sword. “Merlin” was one of the first songs Kent felt he had written a good song. It came from reading The Once and Future King. He played it in bands and doing solo gigs, and fans started liking the song and other bands started playing it. When Kent was playing in Canada with Ian Tyson, he bought one of the first Larrivie guitars which were built in Toronto. Larrivie did not put his name or anything else on the headstock, so a friend of Kent’s in Kentucky suggested his wife put Merlin on the headstock. It took her three months using Abalone and gold. She never did another one!
