#NOWPLAYING: SONGS YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO - FRIDAY, APRIL 10 (#QUARANTUNES EDITION)

While we're all stuck in this situation, now is a great time to check out new music and increase your music collection and add to your playlists. Support the independent artists and songwriters right now, they truly need it. If you can afford to right now, please go to their websites and purchase music and merchandise. Purchasing directly from an independent artist or songwriter puts the most money directly in their pocket.

************

If you're looking for new artists and you're getting tired of the same old Top 40 repetition on today's country radio, check out these names you may or may not be familiar with. Some songs listed are new, some may have been out for quite awhile, and all are of various styles because one taste doesn't suit all palates. Some may also be veteran artists that you might already love or some of country's most talented songwriters.

I'm simply introducing you to artists you might enjoy and music you might connect with. There's such a wide world of artists and songs out there to broaden your listening base and beyond what radio is telling us is good music. Don't limit yourself to radio when there are so many other outlets where truly good music can be found. If you like these, great, if you don't, that's ok too - at least give them a listen.

If you find yourself liking any of these artists, please follow them on social media and let them know you enjoy their music. Please be sure to talk about and share any of the songs and artists you like on this list. I'm sure they'd appreciate it! One more thing, if you stream or download a song, please be sure to leave a review. These help the artists and their teams more than you realize. If you like the song, let them know why you love it. If not, be constructive and honest (not mean) about why you don't like it so much.

ERIN ENDERLIN ANNOUNCES THIRD RELEASE IN EP SERIES: CHAPTER THREE: WHATEVER GETS YOU THROUGH THE NIGHT

Singer-Songwriter Enderlin Continues Her Four-Part Musical Journey On August 23

Nashville troubadour Erin Enderlin will soon reveal the third chapter of her four-installment 2019 digital EP series with the eagerly-awaited release of Chapter Three: Whatever Gets You Through The Night on August 23. As did its predecessors, the new EP focuses on character-driven lyrical storytelling on matters of love, loss, struggle and hope.

This time around, Enderlin receives storytelling help from some friends, as she is joined on its three tracks by Dillon Carmichael (“Whatever Gets You Through The Night”), Vince Gill and Alison Kraus (“Sweet Emmylou”) and Ronnie Bowman on a gorgeous and faithful rendering of the Gene Watson’s “Use Me Again.”

Enderlin is already enjoying a successful 2019, with roughly a hundred shows on the touring calendar and her songs included on new releases by personal heroes Reba McEntire, Rhonda Vincent and Rodney Crowell. In June, she took home three Arkansas Country Music Awards including Female Vocalist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. Shortly thereafter, the title track from Chapter Two: I Can Be Your Whiskey, was featured in Rolling Stone’s “10 Best Country Songs To Hear Now.”

Throughout her career as both a songwriter and an artist, Enderlin has remained steadfast in her commitment to making music steeped in the genuine traditions of country music and it's that conviction that is fueling a great deal of her current success.

“Erin’s authentic sound and heartfelt lyrics are reminiscent of the early days of The Judds,” Raised Rowdy recently proclaimed. “This is what country music should sound like, folks.”

Enderlin puts that authenticity on full display throughout Chapter Three: Whatever Gets You Through The Night. While the theme of Chapter Two: I Can Be Your Whiskey is the eternal pursuit of love, the thread that runs across Chapter Three: Whatever Gets You Through The Night is of the bitter heartbreak that comes from losing it. The Arkansas native croons mournfully about the travails of despair and loneliness on the EP’s title track while “Sweet Emmylou,” is a plea from the song’s broken-hearted main character to Emmylou Harris for help getting them through their heartbreak. Enderlin chooses the perspective of the “other woman” in Watson’s “Use Me Again,” written by Curly Putnam, Dale Dodson and Billy Lawson, to round out this chapter’s reflections on the desolation of love lost.

The fourth and final chapter in Enderlin’s storytelling tour de force is slated for release later this year.

MY NAME IS JENNIFER AND I AM AN ADDICT ...

My name is Jennifer and I am an addict. Some people are addicted to drugs, some to food, some to love. Me? I’m addicted to music. The majority of my days involve music … listening to it, telling other people about it, writing about it, researching it and just breathing it in. Music is my drug of choice. It gives me a high that I don’t come crashing down from, it fills my heart with a permanent happiness and takes my mind off whatever madness is going on around me. It drowns out the noise of the world and keeps me in tune with my soul. It’s made a difference in my life, one that I am proud of and one that I feel I can share that can help others dealing with situations in their lives. There’s better therapy for a bad day than putting on a pair of headphones and immersing yourself in a good song.

My world is full of enablers and dealers. The dealers are the songwriters, the musicians, and the singers. They are the ones who give life to the songs that make me feel good, the songs that keep my mind in a positive place and the music that keeps me sane at times when most people would be pulling their hair out. The writers deal in words and thought. They put down in words what most of us feel but either can’t find the words to say or what we emotionally can’t say. They write from personal experience, tragedy, life’s experiences and sometimes just a drunken night. Whatever means they use to come up with the right words is usually something most of us can identify with, they’re just given the gift of translation that most of us weren’t blessed with. They can then take those words and make something beautiful from them once they add the right notes. This is where the musicians and artists come in, the middle men, if you will, between the dealer and the addict. The deal only happens when the musicians come together to play the melodies and join with the artist to sing the words with the necessary emotions. The final product is a drug that is delivered by the artist who cuts the song and presents it to the addict. The addict becomes hooked and can’t stop listening and has to have another song, and another, and another. And so the cycle continues.

Music is a great high, a great way to mentally get away from it all. It’s the kind of high that can literally change your life if you inhale the perfect song at the perfect time. It can take you to a place you never imagined you’d see, take you from a dark place into the light, it can be a key that opens the most tightly closed heart, and it can turn a life around. To quote Bono of the group U2, “Music can change the world because it can change people.” It can and it does, every day.

If you have to find an addiction, find a healthy vice in good music. It’s good for your heart, it’s good for your soul. We should all indulge in good music daily and appreciate its long term effects.

DARIN AND BROOKE ALDRIDGE ARE TAKING THEIR MUSIC FASTER AND FARTHER

Mountain Home Music Company announces new music from acclaimed husband/wife Bluegrass duo Darin and Brooke Aldridge.  FASTER AND FARTHER, their sixth CD for the label, is due in stores on February 10.  The first single is now available on iTunes with your pre-order purchase.

Darin and Brooke continue their musical journey as they drive forward with this ground-breaking new collection.  "Kingdom Come," the lead-off track, sets an edgier tone for the album and declares the band's musical mission.  This gas-up-and-go song is powered by Brooke's turbo-charged vocal and launched by the guitar work of the song's writer and one of the album's iconic special guests, Pat
Flynn.

While not a thematic album, FASTER AND FARTHER, uses natural landmarks as metaphors for the heart and presents an inspiring project from masters of the genre. "Mountains Of Mississippi" spotlights the undeniable power of Brooke's vocal command complimented by guest vocalist and Country Music Hall of Famer, Vince Gill.  "This River" is an impressionistic spiritual ballad with Darin on lead vocal.  "Cumberland Plateau," written by John Cowan and Darrell Scott, syncs three-part harmony into a longing for heart and home.  Cowan brings his bass groove and trademark vocal to several cuts, including "Lila" from his days with New Grass Revival.  "Fit For A King" is one of several Gospel music inclusions that are an important part of the band's heart.

CHRIS LANE CELEBRATES FIRST CHART-TOPPER “FIX”

Follow-Up Single “For Her” Already Ascending The Country Radio Charts

Big Loud Records’ breakout star Chris Lane celebrated his first #1 at Country radio with his debut GOLD-certified smash “Fix” at a formal gathering in Nashville hosted by BMI and ASCAP yesterday (10/10). Family, friends, and members of the music industry community gathered to commemorate the milestone and cheer on the songwriters - Sarah Buxton, Jesse Frasure, and Abe Stoklasa - as the publishers (Big Loud Shirt, Big Yellow Dog, Major Bob Music and Round Hill) honored each writer.

The day was extra special for all three songwriters since it marked the first career #1 for Stoklasa as well as the second #1 Buxton and Frasure shared together since they co-wrote Florida Georgia Line’s “Sun Daze.”

Adding to the larger than life celebration, Big Loud Records’ continues to prove it’s big-league with their first-ever single going straight to the top – an unheard-of start for a new label.

The irresistible “Fix” is the lead track from Lane’s debut album GIRL PROBLEMS produced by superstar studio ace Joey Moi (Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen). Released August 5, media has applauded his jaw-dropping falsetto vocals mixed with a smooth R&B-meets-country vibe. The album features current chart-rising single “For Her” as well as “Fix,” which surpassed an impressive 26 million streams on Spotify and 6 million views on Vevo.

Lane has won shout-outs from massive industry names like Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Selena Gomez, Florida Georgia Line, Lucy Hale, Daughtry, and more, after starting his career selling out club shows in his hometown of Kernersville, NC, before going on to open for Dustin Lynch’s sold-out HELL OF A NIGHT Tour and spending his summer on the RHYTHM & ROOTS Tour. The “For Her” video, featuring a romantic, real-life wedding proposal, was released September 17 with an exclusive CMT world premiere.

Black River Entertainment announces the release of Nikita Karmen’s debut single “Out of the Park” is digitally available now and at Australian radio via Play MPE.

An Australian native, Nikita Karmen began crafting her songwriting back home near the beaches of Sydney and made the move to Nashville, TN in November of 2015. In June of 2016, Nikita signed with the US based entertainment company.

With a regular gig opening for and as part of Bobby Bones and the Raging Idiots, the musical comedy group comprised of Bobby Bones and Producer Eddie from iHeartMedia's The Bobby Bones Show, Nikita will tour much of the United States.

“Being on the other side of the world and having the opportunity to release a song back at home is so exciting to me,” said Nikita. “While Nashville is where I have always dreamed of being, I started writing songs back in Australia so it feels amazing to have something for all my friends and family to hear over there.”

Out of the Park” is digitally available now. To stay updated on Nikita Karmen visit her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

TIMOTHY B. SCHMIT: GROUNDBREAKING VOCALIST, SONGWRITER & BASS PLAYER FOR THE EAGLES AND POCO RELEASES NEW SOLO ALBUM 'LEAP OF FAITH' TODAY, 9/23

LISTEN TO THE FULL ALBUM TODAY ON ROLLING STONE COUNTRY

FIRST SINGLE "RED DIRT ROAD" IMPACTING AMERICANA AND AAA RADIO NOW

"With the Santa Monica Mountains in the distance and a patch of state-protected Californian wilderness stretched outside the front door, Schmit created a soundtrack for that sort of pitch-perfect American landscape, mixing bluegrass, Cajun, rock, Seventies soul and California country into the same track list. Leap of Faith is an Americana album, in other words, delivered by an elder statesman who's been laying the brickwork for Americana's existence since the 1970s. Schmit is no newcomer. No cosmic-cowboy wannabe. Rather than focus on proving his country credentials, he sticks to the Schmit-ian basics on Leap of Faith, singing the songs with a gentle, unhurried voice that's more tailored to peaceful easy feelings than life in the fast lane."
--ROLLING STONE COUNTRY/ROLLING STONE (9/23/16)

LEAP OF FAITH, the new 12-track solo album from TIMOTHY B. SCHMIT, is out today (9/23) on the indie label Benowen Records. Listen to LEAP OF FAITH by the groundbreaking vocalist, songwriter and bass player from the legendary rock groups Eagles and Poco in its entirety, today on Rolling Stone Country (here) and purchase the album via iTunes (here) and exclusive online store bundles (here).

Recorded at his Los Angeles studio and co-produced with engineer Hank Linderman, LEAP OF FAITH is a strong mix of rock, country, Americana, R&B and even a bit of reggae. LEAP OF FAITH marks the culmination of SCHMIT's unhurried, yet inspired reflections of life. The album's first single "Red Dirt Road" is currently impacting Americana and AAA radio. "Like the rest of my new solo album Leap of Faith, 'Red Dirt Road' was recorded in my L.A. studio featuring Van Dyke Parks on accordion, John McFee (from The Doobie Brothers) on fiddle, and harmonies by Herb Pedersen," explains TIMOTHY re the first single. "Upon hearing this song one might think the setting is from the deep south, but actually the image comes from the island of Kauai. It's a tune about finally being able to let go."

Rolling Stone Country's Andrew Leahey recently described LEAP OF FAITH as follows: "Written and tracked during breaks in the The Eagles' touring schedule, the new record shines a light not only on Schmit's voice, which remains remarkably untouched by the decades that have elapsed since he sang his band's final hit, 'I Can't Tell You Why,' but also the songwriting chops of an Americana pioneer. Long before that genre had a name, Schmit helped glue the nuance of country and bluegrass to the noise of rock. If the music on Leap of Faith sounds somewhat familiar, it's because Schmit now shares the marketplace with songwriters who grew up studying his work with Poco and the Eagles." (August 25, 2016)

Illuminated by an array of fine musicians and singers, LEAP OF FAITH plays like a multicolored corona around SCHMIT's distinctive artistry. From the jaunty opening track "My Hat" to the soaring harmonies and heartfelt reflections of "This Waltz," this is more than another album in a great artist's catalog. Writing and recording between touring with the Eagles, the songs on LEAP OF FAITH have a broad compass. "Slow Down" is a note to self on escaping life's pressures coasting along on a reggae pulse sweetened by jazz giant Gary Burton's vibraphone, while "What I Should Do" has a Muscle Shoals feel; steamy, funky, and sensual. On "Goodbye, My Love," he takes us deep down into traditional country with Paul Franklin's glistening steel guitar layered over the changes. And on "It's Alright," his most intimate song, SCHMIT needs only his own acoustic guitar to express profound love.

Watch the new lyric video for "Red Dirt Road" below:

NEW ARTIST VIDEO - "SWEET" - KURT THOMAS

"

Growing up in the tight-knit community of small town Dahlonega, GA, country newcomer Kurt Thomas began pursuing a career in music after purchasing his first guitar for $80 from his high school friend and fellow musician Zac Brown. The two began playing together at local functions, and Kurt would eventually start his own band, Kurt Thomas and the Small Town Band. After winning Kenny Chesney's Next Big Star contest and landing a spot opening for Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, Sammy Hagar, LeAnn Rimes, Gary Alan and Sugarland, Kurt went on to win CMT's Music City Madness- a nationwide contest that lead to Kurt's Unplugged Studio 330 session on CMT as well as a mentorship with Grammy-award winning singer, Randy Travis. He continues touring and playing shows all over the United states, and has just released the new music video for his latest single, "Sweet" which has already gotten over 5,000 plays on facebook and was even re-tweeted by his old friend Zac Brown!

CURTIS BRALY RELEASES LATEST SINGLE, "LOVE YOU DOWN", TO COUNTRY RADIO

GO TIME RECORDS’ FLAGSHIP ARTIST CURTIS BRALY STAGES NEW CD WITH SINGLE RELEASE  “LOVE YOU DOWN” ON COUNTRY RADIO NOW!

“I fell in love with this song because I liked the message that “love can find a way” to help others in times of helplessness, loneliness and loss.” ~ Curtis Braly.

Curtis Braly lays the groundwork for what country music radio, and its fans, can expect to hear from this explosive newcomer in the months to come.  The Texan’s convincing, emotional vocal delivery of the heart-wrenching and impassioned single, “Love You Down,” is a telltale of the future of his music.

The tick tock drum opener lends timeless perfection throughout the contemporary production to play out the heartfelt and noble "white horse" sentiment of the storyline. Braly’s honest vocals and chivalrous impassioned intent reaches across the lines of love with the message that love wins.

"Lost and empty
You don’t see me
Reaching out to save you, baby
You think there’s nobody else around
If you’re all by yourself out on the ledge
Baby, I’m here now
Let me love you, love you, love you, love you down"

SINGLE REVIEW: "WHEN I'M GONE" - CRAIG MORGAN

SINGLE: "When I'm Gone"
ARTIST: Craig Morgan
REVIEWER: Maria Talamo
Follow Maria on Twitter at @Maria_Talamo

Craig Morgan is definitely a one of a kind guy. There is truly no one else out there quite like him. He’s been in the military, became an EMT and was also a sheriff’s deputy, just to name a few things. He is also an incredible outdoorsman and family man. He quoted on his website “music is like a center for all of those things.  It' It's the outlet for me to express everything I am. When I'm riding my dirt bike, you may not know about my music, and when I'm in a military environment, it's not the center point. But my music career allows me to talk about and be a part of all of those other energies in my life. When I'm on stage, I get to express all of it.” Because of this, there isn’t a song of his out there that someone can’t relate to. His most recent single “When I’m Gone” is the perfect song for Morgan. In the song he sings about how he wants to be remembered as the guy who lived live to the fullest. In the chorus he sings about laughing more than crying, staring down all of his fears and living ever moment so that his memory lives on after hes gone. It is truly an amazing song that you won't want to miss!
