ALLIE COLLEEN PREMIERES DEBUT OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “WHILE WE’RE STILL FRIENDS” FEAT. LEE BRICE

The official support video for “While We’re Still Friends” feat. Lee Brice by Allie Colleen premiered yesterday on Stryk TV and Country Rebel social media platforms. The video is being added in rotation on Music Choice and CMT Music (CMT’s 24-hour channel) and should start spinning the week of March 3rd.

Produced by Logen Christopher at Stormlight Pictures in Nashville, TN, the video beautifully portrays the emotional journey of a relationship coming to an end and the delicate process of moving forward with grace.

“I cannot even begin to share the excitement of sharing this video with everyone. The support on this song has been amazing and I am honored and humbled by everyone’s kindness on the song's message,” expressed Allie Colleen.

"Allie Colleen brings an exciting sound and energy to music lovers as she comes from an iconic country music lineage with a strong tradition of bridging genres. As a host on SiriusXM Classic Rewind and StrykTV, I can attest that while her roots may be in country, her music resonates across genres and generations.” shared Dean Baldwin, SiriusXM, StrykTV, FM2.0.

With a reputation as a notable songwriter with an iconic-sounding, impeccably strong voice, Allie Colleen released “While We’re Still Friends” featuring Lee Brice as her first release of the new year on February 17, amassing more than 100K organic Spotify streams in the first 4 days. The raw emotion-filled song lyrics, brimming with honesty and sincerity, were collaboratively penned by Allie Colleen, Sara Brice, and Lee Brice.

“While We’re Still Friends” is available on all digital music platforms HERE.

Allie Colleen shared, “For me as a writer, this song was written looking at my marriage and the beautiful season about to end. I hope the listeners find comfort in knowing the absolute bravery required to make the best decisions for themselves and for the best of both partners. I hope this song creates a safe space to feel and reflect.”

“As a songwriter, sometimes I find it hard to understand when writing about myself or creating a narrative using other characters. This song was a ‘punch in the gut’ reality check for me. What started as a co-writer’s idea turned into years of unspoken anxiety and repressed honesty about the relationship I had found myself in. This song in its own way shattered my world and in another way saved my life.”

"Simply said…Allie was made for this. She is authentic to her core regardless of circumstance and in this world we live in right now, that is a tough thing to do and a refreshing quality to find. When Allie, Sara and I first sat down to write this song, I immediately saw that Allie takes on the good, the bad and the ugly in her songwriting. It’s never an easy thing to put your personal life into a song the world will hear and I applaud Allie for challenging herself to go there so honestly,” shared co-producer Lee Brice. “The way she plays, her effortless singing, her God-given ability to connect with people - this song has it all. It is an arrow through the heart and Allie delivers it exactly how it’s supposed to be and only how she could. I am truly honored to be a small part of such a big talent."

Jerrod Nieman added, “I love everything about Allie as a friend and just a great person. It all reflects in her music well beyond her years. She makes music straight from the soul. Working with her and Lee Brice in the studio was truly one of my most memorable moments in Nashville. We had such an amazing experience helping her bring her vision to life and to her fans. I am in her corner and cannot wait to hear all her great music to come.”

Production was a collaboration by Jerrod Niemann, Lee Brice and Allie Colleen with mixing by Cody LaBelle, Evan Hutchings (Drums), Mark Hill (Bass), Rob McNelley (Electric Guitar), Lee Brice (Acoustic Guitar), Mike Rojas (Keys) and Charlie Judge (Strings). George Town Masters provided mastering.

LEWIS BRICE ENLISTS BROTHER LEE BRICE FOR TITLE TRACK TO ALBUM, INSPIRED BY THEIR PARENTS

"Product Of" Featuring Lee Brice Available Today

Country-rocker Lewis Brice shares with the world the small town love he's a "Product Of" in title track to upcoming album. The single features his brother, multi-platinum selling Lee Brice, and is a nod to their parents and upbringing in South Carolina. This is the first collaboration between the brothers and is the second release from Lewis' first full-length album, Product Of, available July 28.

To stream "Product Of" featuring Lee Brice, click HERE.

"'Product Of' is a song that really stems from the thought of Lee and mine's parents and the small town love they raised us with in Sumter, South Carolina," shared Lewis. "Having my brother jump on this song is so freakin' cool and a blessing. It makes sense for this to be the first collaboration between us, being about who and where we come from. What we're a Product Of."

"My brother Lewis is one of the most determined and hardworking people I know… he’s worked his tail off crafting his songwriting skills and when I heard this one - 'Product Of'...man, this one really moved me; makes me wish I would have been in that room that day. I CANNOT WAIT for the world to hear this. Lewis...you’re such a talent! What an honor to sing this song with you," added Lee.

Boy meets girl in a homeroom class
Starts thinking forever can’t come too fast
Put some overtime money down
On a ring and a half acre piece of ground, yeah
Before you know it, they’re painting the front room blue
Taking a little hell raiser to Sunday school
Thanking God everyday ‘fore the sun comes up
For the small town love I’m a product of

Lewis, who has amassed more than 50 million streams, has been named by both Rolling Stone Country and Billboard as an 'Artist to Watch' and is celebrated for his high-octane live show, is releasing his first studio album Product Of, July 28. Brice exclusively tells Taste of Country, "That song is inspired by my parents and how we were raised, so it made a lot of sense for him to jump on that song with me.”

LEE BRICE MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION TO BENEFIT THE FOLDED FLAG FOUNDATION

National Radio Special Sponsored by O’Charley’s Restaurant + Bar, Coca-Cola and Powered by PickleJar

The Folded Flag Foundation has been announced as the beneficiary of Lee Brice’s Memorial Day Celebration, a national radio special sponsored by O’Charley’s Restaurant + Bar, Coca-Cola, and PickleJar and produced by Gator Michaels Consulting. Listeners across the country can tune in to their local radio stations throughout the holiday weekend and donate directly to The Folded Flag Foundation via PickleJar or by visiting giveforheroes.com. Folded Flag is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and 100% of contributions go directly toward educational scholarships and grants for the families of fallen soldiers.

PickleJar is also giving one lucky fan a trip to see Lee Brice this summer on his “Label Me Proud” tour with special guests Michael Ray, Jackson Dean, Tim Montana and Tyler Farr. Fans will be automatically registered with a donation, but they can also register for free at giveforheroes.com.

“Anyone who knows me and my music knows that I take supporting our veterans and Gold Star families very seriously,” said Lee Brice. “Those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country deserve nothing short of our utmost respect. The mission of Folded Flag is a sacred one for me, and that’s why I’ve become such a vocal champion of their work. This Memorial Day Celebration is going to be a blast for listeners, and I hope they will donate what they can to such a great nonprofit.”

In addition to the Lee Brice Memorial Day Celebration live national radio show, O’Charley’s employees will be wearing t-shirts during Memorial Day weekend featuring PickleJar’s intelligent QR code technology that restaurant patrons can use to access the PickleJar app to participate in the event.

“O’Charley’s support for Folded Flag and its mission is a pillar of our brand. This event is just the latest way we are working to raise money and awareness for these deserving Gold Star families,” said O’Charley’s CEO Craig Barber. “Having Lee Brice involved in such a deep way is absolutely awesome. He’s not just an outstanding musician – he’s a man who sincerely cares about helping others and using his platform to do so. I can’t thank him enough for his involvement.”

“To see the evolution of O’Charley’s support over the years has been incredible,” said Folded Flag President Kim Frank. “O’Charley’s continues to go above and beyond to help us carry out our mission and we consider our partnership with them critical for our success. I can’t wait to tune in to this Celebration to hear some special music and see how much money Lee can help us raise.”

O’Charley’s launched the first ever charity-based virtual restaurant concept last year, the Songwriters Café, wherein all proceeds went directly to supporting The Folded Flag Foundation.

The groundbreaking concept was the evolution of the Songwriters Cafe virtual benefit concert series, which O’Charley’s launched in 2020 by teaming up with country music stars like Lee Brice and Russell Dickerson to shine a spotlight on Gold Star families and their needs.

Furthering their support for Gold Star family members, this year O’Charley’s also launched a Gold Star hiring campaign focused solely on getting Gold Star family members jobs and securing opportunities for their career success.

“The Lee Brice Memorial Day Celebration intersects PickleJar’s two biggest passions: celebrating artists and mobilizing donations to worthy recipients,” said Jeff James, CEO of PickleJar. “We couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to play a role in this inspiring campaign.”

PickleJar is available for IOS and Android smartphones. The intelligent QR code technology is in use at select venues nationwide and fundraising events which allows participants to send monies in support of musicians and charitable events without having to download the app. Most importantly, PickleJar’s TipShare feature means the funds are automatically routed to the intended organization and they receive 100% of the funds.

#TOURINGNEWS - CASE IH AND LEE BRICE HONOR FARMERS IN UPCOMING SUMMER TOUR

Country music singer and songwriter, farmer and Case IH brand ambassador Lee Brice will celebrate the tireless work of producers this summer throughout his ‘Label Me Proud Tour’ with his song “Farmer.” The song was written as part of Case IH’s Built by Farmers initiative. The campaign connects the company’s employees, dealers and their families rooted in agriculture with the farmers who use Case IH equipment and technology.

Born and raised in South Carolina, Brice pays homage to North America’s dedicated producers and ranchers through his lyrics. Like Case IH, “Farmer” honors the hardworking men and women who are up at dawn to work the land. With its classic country style, the humble and moving song recognizes the tough, dedicated individuals who provide food and supply raw materials to feed North America and the world. The song debuted at the 2021 Farm Progress Show Concert in Decatur, Illinois.

“I wrote ‘Farmer’ to honor the families and individuals who are up before sunrise, doing the backbreaking work it takes to provide food and resources for homes all across America,” Brice said. “My goal was to spotlight one of the world’s oldest and most noble professions — a backbone that all of us rely on.”

Case IH is forged by a deep commitment and devotion to the nation’s producers. The company’s equipment and solutions meet growers’ needs during long hours in the field because the innovations are designed and made by farmers, for farmers.

“Agriculture is who we are. It’s the profession and pride of our employees and their families,” said Kurt Coffey, Case IH vice president of North America. “We know what it takes to be a farmer and work arm in arm with producers to help them fuel a growing world.”

The cross-country Label Me Proud tour will span 23 cities, and select stops throughout the tour will feature “Farmer” in the concert setlist.

HELPING A HERO: COUNTRY STARS STEP UP FOR THOSE WHO STEPPED UP FOR US

Last night, I watched a telethon. I haven't watched a telethon in years and when I say years, I mean "Jerry Lewis Easter Seals" years. I was told by a publicist about the "Helping A Hero" telethon that was being televised on RFD-TV on December 27 and hosted by Lee Greenwood and Paula Deen. When I saw where this money was going and who was stepping in to be a part of this salute, I knew I would tuned in. I am so glad I did. It opened my eyes to a much larger picture than the one I'd been paying attention to.

"Helping a Hero" is a non-profit organization that provides specially adapted homes for severely wounded Global War on Terror veterans. Honestly, I have never really considered the challenges these heroes face living in their own homes after being injured. I think most of us tend to think they'll have medical home care, but we rarely probably think of what they need just to function and get around at home. Lee Greenwood mentioned a particular case of someone being burned needing a special kind of heating and air system because they no longer have sweat glands. I've never thought of that and when he said that, I wondered how many other things I had been blind to without these kinds of organizations. It can range from something such as an entire home remodel with wheelchair ramps, lowered drawers, cabinets and countertops, roll under access, carpet free floors, roll in showers, therapy tubs and automated doors to something as simple as a special kind of doorbell. Their needs are something we take for granted every day.  It's a sad thing to think how many of these wonderful people who gave everything are now in situations where they are unable to live a life as close to normal as possible or even worse, they are homeless on the streets. That's not acceptable.

Last night again proved to me why I choose to support the country music genre, because these people are always at the ready to do what is necessary to help when they're called. I sat and thought about it and can't think of another genre that answers the call as regularly and genuinely as country music does. From flood relief, to hurricane relief, to St. Judes Children's Hospital, to our military ... the list continuously rolls on. It makes me proud to stand with a genre who stands for something other than just ticket sales and chart numbers.

The performers on this show were all familiar faces when it comes to giving back and they're never ones to turn down the chance to help someone in need. Last night was no different, they stepped up and participated as a family in one of the best nights of music I've heard in a long time. The performances were filmed at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, AL in October as part of the All Star Salute to Lee Greenwood for his years of contribution to not only country music but to those who stand up for America.

Below are the performances shown on last night's telethon:

Lee Greenwood  - Lee opened the show with an emotional rendition of "God Bless the USA". What can you say about this man and this song? You can't think Lee Greenwood and not immediately think gratitude. I could type all day and still not say the words that need to be said so I'll just go with with 2 small words with huge meaning, thank you.

The Frontmen - How can you go wrong with 3 of the most iconic voices of 90's country? You can't. I love that Tim Rushlow (Little Texas), Richie McDonald (Lonestar) and Larry Stewart (Restless Heart) decided to come together as a group and keep the good music going. They sang a medley of "Why Does It Have to Be Wrong or Right", I'm Already There" and "God Blessed Texas" ... well, God definitely blessed the Frontmen.

The Oak Ridge Boys performed their MEGA hit "Elvira" ... it's a proven fact that everyone needs some oom papa mow mow in their lives. This was my favorite when I got the "Fancy Free" album for Christmas in 1981 and it's my favorite now. I will oom papa mow mow at stoplights, in the grocery store, wherever this song comes on. These four men are four of the biggest, most giving hearts in the music industry. They are not just legends, they are treasures.

The Gatlin Brothers performed one of my favorites, well probably everybody's favorite, "All the Gold in California" and I think I smiled the entire time I was singing along very off key. I sang it in my dang head all night. I love these dudes! Those voices are still just as good as the first time I heard them.

Darryl Worley performed his emotional remembrance of September 11, "Have You Forgotten" and made me cry, dang it. What a great performance straight from the heart by just a man and his guitar. Darryl is always one of the first to lend his heart to anything involving giving back to those who gave it all.

Crystal Gayle hit me in the gut with "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue". This was one of my daddy's favorite songs when I was growing up and we'd sing it in the car. It was like being back in that red Pontiac Grandville all over again.

Debby Boone took me back to the best time of my life with her hit "You Light Up My Life." I was growing up in the 70's and would sit by my record player, singing this song and then picking up the needle and putting it back down to start over again ... over and over. I still listen to this song regularly now. It always takes me to a good place.

John Conlee performed "They Also Serve", one I'd never heard before and it really left a mark. I immediately added it to my music collection. I admit, I was somewhat misty.

Home Free - I have been a fan of this group since they were on  "The Sing Off". These guys floor me every time they open their mouths whether it be together or individually. They performed their acapella version of "My Country Tis of Thee" and it was phenomenal. Again, there was a bit of eye mist.

And to close the show, there was a special finale jam of "Soul Man" by the original jam master himself, Sam Moore, and the amazing T. Graham Brown with special guests Janie Fricke, Michael Ray, Lee Brice, Tim Rushlow and Darryl Worley. It just capped off the perfect night of freedom and music.

Thank you to RFD-TV, the Cowboy Channel and OAN for airing this telethon and thank you to all who came together to make it happen. Please consider donating to this wonderful cause. They deserve our respect, love and assistance. Go to https://helpingahero.org for information on how you can help or donate.

In case you missed the airing of the telethon, you can still watch it here.

COUNTRY MUSIC POWERHOUSE LEE BRICE ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM “HEY WORLD”

Lee Brice, is set to release his latest album, Hey World, on November 20th. The 15-track collection comes at one of the most unique times in modern history and Brice meets the moment as only he can - with the signature relatability in his lyrics and his captivating vocals. Three of the album's tracks including Top 5 current radio single, "One of Them Girls," the #1 hit song with Carly Pearce, "I Hope You're Happy Now," and the newly released title track, "Hey World" (featuring Blessing Offor,) are all available today.

Additionally, Brice has released the accompanying music video for "Hey World" (feat. Blessing Offor). The powerfully reflective video beautifully highlights the retreat from the overwhelming pressures of the world around us. Reminding us all to take a break from the bad news and spend some time with ourselves, loved ones, and be mindful of what truly matters.

“ We wrote the title-track from an introspective, truthful place, and probably what most people are actually feeling right now," shares Brice. "With everything that is happening in the world currently, and how fast paced we are as a society, in general, sometimes you just want everything to stop - just to appreciate what we do have. People are suffering and it can’t be ignored."

Moving through the experience of these 15 songs takes you from the desire to shut out the craziness of the world through the song, “Hey World,” to a message from the great beyond to family and friends with “Save The Roses,” onto the stop-you-in-your-tracks “Lies,” then all the way back around to “Atta Boy” and “More Beer” – all-in providing a fully-immersive, perspective-bringing, real-life look at our world.

"Hey World is just my next step in life. Where I am, who I am, what I love, and what I feel," says Brice. "From the songs, to the production, to the order they play in, I always have and still do make it my goal to get better and better at what I do. Short of my family, my wife and friends, my music is the deepest part of me. So, I am overjoyed to say that I think I have made my best project to date. I stand by everything I have ever done, but pull from it as well to help me exceed my own expectations. Because of my team, my co-producers, my engineers, my label, I was able to make what I hope will be my most successful album to date."

HEY WORLD TRACK LISTING:

"Atta Boy"
"One Of Them Girls"
"More Beer"
"Memory I Don't Mess With"
"Save The Roses"
"Good Ol' Boys"
"Don't Need No Reason"
"Do Not Disturb"
"Soul"
"Sons and Daughters"
"Country Knows"
"Lies"
"If You"
"I Hope You're Happy Now"
"Hey World (featuring Blessing Offor)"

Brice has 11 consecutive RIAA single certifications along with multiple gold and platinum albums, has taken 7 radio singles to number one, performed as part of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song honoring Garth Brooks in 2020, and is just getting started. The ACM and CMA Award winner, and GRAMMY nominee, is in the middle of a meteoric rise at Country radio with his song of the summer, “One of Them Girls,” the follow-up to his #1 with Carly Pearce on “I Hope You’re Happy Now.”

LEE BRICE'S NEW SINGLE "ONE OF THEM GIRLS" AVAILABLE TODAY!

Stream or purchase “One of Them Girls” HERE

Lee Brice releases his next song and single, “One of Them Girls.” The song, available today at all digital service providers, follows the massive success of his No. 1 smash, “Rumor,” and his duet with Carly Pearce, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” which currently holds steady in the Top 15 at Country radio, and was performed by Pearce and Brice as part of the ACM’s “Our Country” Pre-Show this past Sunday 4/5/20.

Brice was inspired to write “One of Them Girls” on Father’s Day last year after a moment of reflection looking at his family around him. Leaning further into the concept, the father of three immediately called an impromptu songwriting session at 2 a.m. the following morning with friends Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davidson and Ben Johnson, who helped him round out the song.

“I just love that the title could easily come across with a negative connotation at first,” says Brice of the song he co-produced with Ben Glover and Kyle Jacobs. “But, it’s so very much about that girl that all of us - deep down, at the end of the day, at the end of our lives - really hope to have loving us.”

The moving music video for “One of Them Girls,” directed by Ryan Smith and filmed in November 2019, also premiering today exclusively through iHeartRadio, honors the tireless work of first responders everywhere. The thoughtful visual features a hero who is both a firefighter and a single parent.

“One of Them Girls” serves as the follow-up to Brice’s double-Platinum No. 1 hit, “Rumor,” which is currently nominated for “Single of the Year” at the 55th annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. This year’s ACM Awards will broadcast live Wednesday, Sept. 16 on CBS.

As “One Of Them Girls” releases today, Brice paid a virtual visit to FOX & Friends this morning. Brice was compelled to play a brand-new original song, "Hey World.” It was in the moment just before he played the first note that Brice felt that he needed to connect with people in a genuine and honest way - people are suffering and that could not be ignored.

SINGLE REVIEW: "THAT DON'T SOUND LIKE YOU" - LEE BRICE

SINGLE: "That Don't Sound Like You"
ARTIST: Lee Brice
REVIEWER: Maria Talamo
Follow Maria on Twitter at @maria_talamo

If there is anyone that can make a recurring theme in today's country songs sound so different from the rest it's Lee Brice. He has proven that with his most recent single "That Don't Sound Like You."

The song is about an ex-love who was completely changed by her new man, from the way she talked to cutting her pretty brown hair off. She decides to call him up one night and she almost sounds unrecognizable to him. Here is such a strong engaging rhythm that instantly grabs your attention and holds it all the way through to the very last second. You can not only hear but also feel the raw emotion in his voice. Brice has super consistent vocal quality throughout all of the different pitches in this song, something he has excelled at throughout his career so far.

I highly suggest checking it out if you haven't already.

You know Lee Brice loves a parking lot party! Here's a recipe of Lee's that will liven up any party! Check out his favorite Chicken Roll ups. With the recent addition to his family, I'm sure he'll be making many more of these good lookin' chow downs.

Find out all you wanna know about Lee at www.leebrice.com. You can also follow him on Twitter at @LeeBrice

Ingredients

1 chicken breast, cut into 8 small cubes
Salt and pepper to taste
4 pieces bacon, cut in half
8 slices jalapeño pepper
Toothpicks
Ranch dressing
Parsley, chopped

Preparation

Cover toothpicks with water for a half hour to prevent burning.

Salt and pepper chicken to taste.

Place a chicken cube on a half piece of bacon with a jalapeño slice on top.

Wrap bacon around chicken and jalapeño and secure with a toothpick. Repeat with all chicken pieces.

Place the pieces on a hot grill and cook each side 7–8 minutes.

While cooking the chicken, fill a small heat-resistant dish with ranch dressing and place close to the heat to warm it up.

When the chicken pieces are almost done, drizzle ranch dressing on them. Continue cooking for another 2–3 minutes.

Remove from flame and serve with the remainder of the warm ranch dressing.

Garnish with parsley.

Note: The roll-ups can also be cooked in a hot skillet in a small amount of cooking oil.

CMA CLOSEUP: SONGWRITER SHOP TALK WITH LEE BRICE AND JERROD NIEMANN

By Bob Doerschuk

At a small studio just off of Music Row, Lee Brice and Jerrod Niemann settled down on a couple of stools, shared a few jokes, tuned up their guitars and started playing some songs they had written together. They reminisced about how they came up with the tune, laughed or reflected seriously over the story told by the lyric …

In other words, they did pretty much what Nashville insiders have long witnessed at songwriter in-the-round gatherings. Since 2005, the CMA Songwriters Series has exported this unique practice to cities throughout the United States and abroad, spreading awareness of Music City’s writers and how they conjure hits for the stars.

On Sept. 11, the Series makes its first stop in Austin, Texas, at The Stage On Sixth. Brice and Niemann will be in the lineup, along with Randy Houser and host Bob DiPiero, performing before a sold-house house. Both took time to reflect on the upcoming event, as well as a bit of personal history.

HOW THEY MET

NIEMANN: Let me take this one, Lee, because I’m going to set it up for the truth (laughs). Back in the day, as young guys, we were maybe still having growing pains on how to be a good relationship partner, I suppose. So I had girls come up and confront me and get in my face, and I thought, “I’ve never seen this girl in my life!” Then I’d come to find out they thought I was Lee. And when I met Lee, he was like, “Hey, I need to talk to you. A lot of people keep getting mad at me because they think I’m you!” So we hit it off because we’d both been blamed for the other’s mischief (laughter).

SONGWRITER CIRCLES

BRICE: Doug Johnson, an unbelievable songwriter, was my mentor. The first time I ever met him, we walked into that Best Western Hotel that was near the old Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum (in Nashville). It was Anthony Smith, Chris Wallin and Marcel, playing their songs. I’d never seen anything like this. I had just come to town, but I wanted to go home. I was like, “I don’t deserve to be here.” But I learned from Doug that you can work that (songwriting) muscle. You can be in the same room with these guys and be OK with it. Man, I lived to go to in-the-rounds. I go to them even to this day. You hear songs that inspire you to write. It reminds you what great songs are.

NIEMANN: I remember doing an in-the-round at Douglas Corner with Scotty Emerick, Bobby Pinson and Billy Currington. I hadn’t had any of my songs recorded by anybody, but they had some really cool tunes out. I remember how miserable it was to not only follow one of those guys but then have another one of them follow me with something colossal. It’s good to get in the game and get knocked down a couple times. Then you start breaking tackles and before you know it, you’re in the end zone. Someone get me a Gatorade (laughter).

BRICE: The rounds let us go back to when we first came to town and were doing this all the time. If Jerrod has a show and I’m around, or if I have a show and Jerrod is around, the first thing we want to do is get onstage together. Being onstage and playing music with someone you respect and enjoy, it’s the same thing as the rounds. We carry that into our big shows. Every night, I want to find a moment where I can keep the band offstage and play something with just myself and a guitar. Jerrod does the same thing. It’s a songwriter moment. It’s just part of who we are.

NIEMANN: But there is a huge difference between playing a normal show and getting onstage with songwriters you respect and appreciate. I love it because I’ve always been a big fan of songwriters. I get to be onstage, literally next to them, and that’s probably the coolest seat in the house. I also love being able to tell the story behind a song, and you may not have that much time to do that onstage (in your own show). And I love hearing the stories of the other writers — and just cutting up. You learn real quick, when you hear songwriters banter back and forth onstage, that everybody is very quick and clever, and you go, “Whoa, I see why that person has written 15 No. 1 hits!”

AUSTIN

NIEMANN: Man, I tell you what. I finally ended up spending some real time in Texas over the last few years, and I’ve grown a passion for it. I’m from South Carolina, and Texans may not agree with this, but I think it’s like a big South Carolina. I’ve got a trip planned for two or three weeks from now down in Gruene, Texas, just writing songs with some friends of mine on the Guadalupe (River). And Austin, man … when I talk about music towns, it’s the second name that comes out of my mouth after Nashville, truthfully.

BRICE: Debuting the Songwriters Series in Austin seems absolutely natural in so many ways. A lot of our heroes got their break there. It’s such a creative, great city. We had the great honor of playing just after Brad Paisley on Lake Travis, in front of about 60,000 boats that had an estimated 100,000 drunk Texans (laughter).

NIEMANN: We actually wrote a song there, called “Shinin’ on Me,” which was the first single off my second album. We have a lot of good memories of Austin, and at Songwriters Series we hope to make a few more.
