DAN RATHER SITS DOWN WITH LITTLE BIG TOWN, ALABAMA, BRIAN JOHNSON OF AC/DC, BRET MICHAELS, AND MORE WHEN "THE BIG INTERVIEW WITH DAN RATHER" RETURNS OCTOBER 1

THE BIG INTERVIEW CONTINUES ITS SEVENTH SEASON WITH 12 ALL-NEW EPISODES, AS HOST DAN RATHER SITS DOWN WITH AC/DC LEGEND BRIAN JOHNSON FOR A CANDID CONVERSATION ON OCTOBER 1 AT 8 P.M. ET

Other Highlights Include Conversations with Bryan Cranston, Bob Costas, Bret Michaels, Chicago, David Byrne, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Little Big Town & More

Brian Johnson Discusses ‘Hells Bells’ in First-Look Clip Below:

AXS TV’s popular sit-down series The Big Interview returns for the second-half of its seventh season, premiering Tuesday, October 1 at 8pE/5pP. The series’ fall cycle features 12 all-new 60-minute episodes, as host Dan Rather joins a roster of iconic entertainers for candid conversations providing a unique glimpse into their personal lives, defining moments, and incredible careers. The fall cycle kicks off with an in-depth discussion with Brian Johnson, AC/DC frontman and host of AXS TV’s globetrotting music series Brian Johnson: A Life On The Road.

In this exclusive first look, Johnson recalls getting writer’s block while working on AC/DC’s landmark “Back In Black” album in the Bahamas. Feeling completely out of ideas, Johnson sat down for breakfast with legendary producer Mutt Lange. As the pair spoke, a tropical storm rolled in—jolting Johnson’s creativity and planting the seeds for what would become one of AC/DC’s most enduring hits: “Hells Bells.” “Mutt went, ‘Oh, it’s rolling thunder!’ And I went, ‘Rolling thunder, pouring rain, coming on like a hurricane. There’s white lightning flashing,’” Johnson explains. “I mean I literally was giving a weather report.” Though they didn’t know it then, the song would go down as a signature piece for the band, helping secure their place as masters of rock. He continues, “When great things are happening so quickly, you never realize, do you? It’s so fabulous. It just looks so easy. When you try to do it again, it never works!”

Other highlights include appearances by power pop icons Cheap Trick (Oct. 8); legendary chart-toppers Chicago (Oct. 15); beloved heavy metal mainstay Bret Michaels (Oct. 22); the ‘Godfather of Shock Rock’ Alice Cooper (Oct. 29); country music superstars Little Big Town (Nov. 5); celebrated sportscaster Bob Costas (Nov. 12); influential Talking Heads singer David Byrne (Nov. 19); folk rock heroes America (Nov. 26); Emmy-winning actor Bryan Cranston (Dec. 3); progressive rock pioneer Yes’ Jon Anderson (Dec. 10); and country music legends Alabama (Dec. 17).

“It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to speak with these entertainment icons each week,” Rather said. “It is a rare treat to be able to delve into a side of these artists that the public doesn’t often get to see, as they tell their stories and share their thoughts in their own words. I am humbled that the series has been so warmly received by AXS TV’s audience, and I look forward to showing our viewers what we’ve been working on in this upcoming fall cycle.”

“The first-half of this season of The Big Interview was one of the best yet, and AXS TV is proud to finish the year strong with 12 more insightful episodes when the series resumes its fall cycle,” said Lucia McCalmont, Vice President of Programming and Scheduling, AXS TV. “The second-half of season seven features an eclectic guest list highlighting top talent from the realms of music, movies, and sports, and offering something for everyone to enjoy. Dan Rather’s ability to get these superstars to open up about their achievements, challenges, and legacies has really resonated with our viewers, and we look forward to providing them with even more of the high quality discussions they’ve come to expect when The Big Interview returns on October 1.”

LITTLE BIG TOWN CD WINNERS

Lynn Wagner (@QueenoftheBB on Twitter)

I'll be contacting the winners directly for their mailing information! Thanks for helping us ‪#‎CelebrateSuccess‬!

We're celebrating the success of Little Big Town and Kacey Musgraves with a chance to win a signed copy of their latest CD's, "Pain Killer" and "Pageant Material".

Little Big Town made country music history last week with their controversial single "Girl Crush" being in the #1 position for the most consective weeks, eleven! After much heated debate as to the meaning behind the song, the song soared and is now a record breaking beast!

Kacey Musgraves is one of few artists to make such a huge impact of country music right out of the gate. Having written several hits for other artists, she made a name for herself with her debut CD, "Same Trailer Different Park" and caused a stir with songs such as "Follow Your Arrow" and "Blowin' Smoke". Her follow up release, "Pageant Material" is a more toned down collection of songs that discuss small town life and it seems to be more personal this time around.

We have a few signed copies of each CD that we'd like to share with you:

3 copies of Kacey Musgraves "Pageant Material"
2 copies of Little Big Town "Pain Killer"

To enter:

Tweet us at @lovinlyrics letting us know which you want to win and hashtag #CelebrateSuccess

You can also go to our Facebook page and leave a comment similar to the tweet. Please leave your comment in the original post thread about the giveaway so it doesn't get overlooked!

Don't do both though, you can only enter via one or the other and you can only enter once.

We'll choose a winner on Monday, July 20!

Good luck and thank you for supporting both of these great artists!

She has her own cooking show called "Kimberly's Simply Southern" on Great American Country. Check your local listings for air times and channels in your area and find out some great recipes from Kimberly such as the one we're featuring this week:

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup onion, thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced

1 pound spaghetti, broken into 2 inch pieces, par-cooked and tossed in olive oil
1 cup shredded mozzarella
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons parsley, minced

In a Dutch oven heat olive oil and cook the onions for 5 minutes until they soften. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes. LITTLE BIG TOWN PREVIEWS ABC'S "CMA MUSIC FESTIVALS: COUNTRY'S NIGHT TO ROCK"

By Bob Doerschuk
© 2013 CMA Close Up® News Service / Country Music Association®, Inc.

CMA’s reigning Vocal Group of the Year, Little Big Town, had settled into director’s chairs on the fourth floor of the Bridge Building. Although it hadn’t yet been announced on this day in early May, they were confirmed to host the three-hour special, “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock,” airing 8-11 PM ET/7-10 PM CT, Aug. 12 over the ABC Television Network. They’re no strangers to performing at Music Fest, but this year would spotlight – and challenge – them as never before.

Yet there were no signs of nervousness as cameras began to roll. Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook took to the subject at hand as the world has come to know them — with confidence, a feeling of unity tempered by their strong individual personalities, and with a sense of humor that could tickle any or all of them without warning into a few seconds of laughter.

How did you hear that you were being invited to host this year’s Festival special on ABC?
FAIRCHILD: I really don’t know how we got it, but we sure are glad we did (laughter). When we found out, we were just thrilled. Do you know how many CMA Fests this is for us?

SCHLAPMAN: The first one was 1999.

FAIRCHILD: That was at the (Tennessee State) Fairgrounds. We got to play two songs in front of Wynonna.

SCHLAPMAN: We had just gotten a record deal in May, and this was in June. So it was huge for us! It was one of the biggest things we’d ever done — well, obviously, we’d only had two months as a band (laughter). I just remember thinking, “Wow, we just know two songs!”

SWEET: We had only one guitar too — an acoustic. That was it. We prayed we wouldn’t break a string.

FAIRCHILD: That was a big worry. “What if we break a string? Do you think Wynonna would let us borrow a guitar?”

What was it like to play on the LP Field stage for the first time at CMA Music Fest?

SWEET: There is nothing like that crowd. It’s the biggest gathering of Country Music fans in the world. People plan their vacations around that time. It’s all about one thing: the love of Country Music. There’s nothing like standing on that stage and feeling that energy come back at you from that many people. It’s just unbelievable.

FAIRCHILD: Hosting this year, we get to experience that every night, as opposed to just doing the 20-minute set artists normally get. It’s the most fun 20 minutes of the year for this band every year.

SCHLAPMAN: And that photo line that comes up to the front of the stage is so much fun to watch because we remember when we had those very few fans in the very beginning — and they’re usually there, coming through and waving at us.

FAIRCHILD: That’s the connection! We feel like we know their families and they know ours.

WESTBROOK: There are so many times when we see them in those moments. The first time we got to play the big stage, they were looking around, like, “Can you believe this?!” They were sharing that first-time experience with us, like it was their own. They’re the best.

FAIRCHILD: Country Music fans are the most loyal fans ever. When they invest in an artist and latch onto their music, they never let go.

Are you planning any surprises in hosting the show?

FAIRCHILD: We’ve got some moments planned, particularly with friends (smiles).

SWEET: We’ll get to do some things as a group and also individually. We can be in four places at once and just have fun with it.

WESTBROOK: Who knows? We might put someone in a helicopter (laughs).

Anticipation Builds for Long Awaited New Music Releases ...

It's the most wonderful time of the year ... no, not Christmas but it sure does seem like it with the gifts of music coming our way in the next couple of months. Some of the best new and veteran artists are lined up to give us their best with finally releasing those cds we've all been waiting for.

One of the biggest and most anticipated releases is by one of music's best and most underrated vocal groups, Little Big Town. The cd, which is their fifth studio cd is called "Tornado" and based on the sales and popularity of their lead off single, the summer anthem "Pontoon", this one's gonna be a hot seller. The cd will be produced by Jay Joyce and will hit shelves on September 11. Just as a side note, "Pontoon" sold over 520,000 tracks in just 8 weeks! "Tornado" will showcase 11 songs, which include several written by Little Big Town including "On Fire Tonight", "On Your Side of the Bed", and "Night Owl".

We think this is the year that LBT will become more than passing song on the radio, they will make finally make their mark and snub the critics who said they didn't have what it took to become a major act. Who's cryin' now mister critic? Not LBT, they're laughing all the way up the charts.

Showdog Universal's hot newcomer, JT Hodges, has his baby blues set on major record sales with the release of his debut cd, "JT Hodges", due out on August 21. Trust me, this one's been a long time coming for Hodges fans and is gonna scream up the charts faster than Justin Beiber being chased at 100 mph in his exotic sports car by paparazzi, only difference being that Justin got stopped, JT won't be. With smooth, mellow vocals and a sexy, quiet demeanor, it's no wonder JT was voted one of country's hottest new male artists by Country People magazine. "Hunt You Down" got him noticed, "Goodbyes Made You Mine" solidified his place in music and the new music ahead is just as intriguing and sexy with songs like "Sleepy Little Town", "Green Eyes Red Sunglasses", "When I Stop Crying" and others. Side note: JT co-wrote 8 of the 10 tracks on the cd.

Other releases this summer that have fans anxiously waiting are "Whippoorwill" by Blackberry Smoke, "Declaration of Independence" by Colt Ford, "Love and Theft" by Love and Theft and "All Over the Road" by Easton Corbin.

Little Big Town's "Good Afternoon" Chosen as Official Theme for "Good Afternoon America"

The Little Big Town song, "Good Afternoon", a co-write with Brett and Brad Warren and produced by Jay Joyce, has been officially chosen to be the theme song for the brand new ABC-TV Good Afternoon America, which made it's debut today, Monday, July 9. The show is anchored by Josh Elliott and Lara Spencer and is basically a one-hour extension of "Good Morning America". The show airs Monday through Friday at 2pm ET.

"Sometimes you get unexpected opportunities as an artist," Karen Fairchild says. "We loved getting the chance to write and record a song for such a cool show." Little Big Town will perform the song along with their summer smash, "Pontoon", on "Good Afternoon America" on August 2.
