LOGAN MIZE: EXCLUSIVE "BEHIND THE SONG" AND PERFORMANCE VIDEO - "AIN'T ALWAYS PRETTY"

Logan Mize, a singer/songwriter from Kansas, first made a name for himself in Nashville writing with names like Randy Montana and Blake Chaffin. His 2012 CD, "Nobody in Nashville" peaked at #49 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and his 2015 debut single, "Can't Get Away From A Good Time", co-written with Chaffin, peaked at #58 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.  He's been featured as a #HighwayFind on Sirius XM's The Highway and has shared the stage with names such as Lady Antebellum, Eric Church and Blake Shelton just to name a few. This working man's blue collar writer has more than proven himself to be a stand out. Mize is also the writer behind the “Fabric of Life” Cotton commercial featuring Hayden Panettiere from "Nashville" and he and his band were featured in the CW series, “Hart of Dixie. Logan has done a lot in a short time and now he's put himself back out there in a big way thanks to on air support from Bobby Bones.

His brand new independent CD, "Come Back Road" releases Friday, July 28 and judging by the numbers on the first single, I think it's safe to say fans are pretty stoked about his return. His first single, "Ain't Always Pretty" has surpassed 20 million and has reached #2 on the iTunes charts and is sure to reach the top once the CD is released. That's incredible for an independent artist and proves that just because you don't have major label support behind you doesn't mean you can't make one hell of an impression.

Check out these exclusive videos as Logan tells the story behind this hit song and listen to him perform the single. We're so glad to see Logan back in the spotlight where he belongs and know this is just the start of a successful journey down his own comeback road. I wouldn't be surprised to see a label jump on this and pick him up pretty quickly.

SIX MONTHS ... SIX SONGS

We're already half way through 2015, can you believe it? The year has been full of great music with even more great music to come. Since we're at the mid point of the year, I'd like to point out six songs, released in 2015, that were most played on my iPod and fall into the category of "Damn I Love This Song." They're all great artists and all of the music is available on iTunes. Keep in mind, these are just my personal favorites so they may not necessarily agree with yours, so no, I didn't "leave anyone out". I just decided to narrow it down to six since we're six months away from another year and I threw in one bonus. These are in no particular order, they all rock.

1. "Love Me Like You Mean It" - Kelsea Ballerini

Kelsea Ballerini is hardly the "tomato" in country music's "salad" as a certain radio consultant referred to female country artists this week in an interview with Country Aircheck. She's the dressing that tops off the salad and gives boring lettuce that extra oomph. As a matter of fact, Kelsea Ballerini is chock full of oomph and awesome from the top of her blonde head down to the tips of her stillettos.

Her personality is infectious and she's that girl that turns everyone's head when she enters the room because of her great attitude. Love, love, love this girl and love seeing how far she's gone. This song just makes you sing along.

2. "Can't Get Away From a Good Time" - Logan Mize

He may be a simple, blue collar kinda guy, having gone from truck driver to the new guy on the country music block, but there's nothing simple about his songwriting abilities. Logan Mize is impressive with his lyrics and delivery. He's got that killer rasp in his voice that comes naturally, not put on like some artists do. His songs tell a story and the stories they tell come from the life he's lived. He's a likeable guy, very personable and literally the kind of guy you can sit down with as a stranger and leave as a friend.

3. "Clean Up on Aisle Five" - Mo Pitney

Mo, Mo, Mo. Mo Pitney came along at the perfect time, right when country music needed a clean up of it's own. I really can't say enough about him. As a person, he's impressive. As an artist, he's amazing. As someone who can give country back the roots it's strayed from, he's perfect. This song made me cry the first time I heard it and cry even harder each additional time. It resulted in a standing ovation at the Grand Ole Opry. All I can say is thank you Mo.

4. "Country" - Mo Pitney

Get More:

See? I can't say enough about him and I really can't listen to him enough either. I really can't wait until the full length album comes out. Mo defines country and country, in turn, defines Mo Pitney. If you do one thing right this year, buy Mo's music.

5. "Better Than You Left Me" - Mickey Guyton

I love Mickey Guyton. Everything about Mickey and this song is refreshing. Country needs to hear more from this songbird.

6. "On To Something Good" - Ashley Monroe

Another hands in the air, let's give it up for the women that can sing about more than a broken heart and how they can get back at the guy. This song just makes me feel good from the first note to the last, it makes me "seat dance" in the car, and it's very motivational and inspires you to keep on going! Really hope radio latches on to this "something good" song.

7. *BONUS* - "My Mistake" - Cam

Cam is the bomb.com. She's bubbly, she's "in your face" and she can sing her canary yellow wearing butt off. For a debut single, she made one heck of an imprint on country music. How can you not like this girl? Her entire EP is fantastic and man can she sing! Did I mention she can SING?

GET TO KNOW LOGAN MIZE ON THE "ROAD TO A GOOD TIME"

Seven-Part Video Series Debuts First Installment Today on Taste of Country

We love this guy and know that you will too. A blue collar, simple livin' kind of guy, Logan Mize, has been working hard to get his music heard and now that hard work is starting to pay off in spades with his single, "Can't Get Away From A Good Time" starting to take off on country radio.

Get to know him, we did and we're so glad we took the chance on him. We'd love to see you take a chance as well.

Today, Taste of Country exclusively premiered the first installment of Logan’s “Road to a Good Time” video series, online here: http://smarturl.it/RoadToAGoodTime.

With more than 3.6 million streams and more than 100,000 copies sold, “Can’t Get Away from a Good Time” continues to earn its place as a fan-favorite, cheered by MusicRow as “a good-natured, smiling bopper with personality to spare,” while Roughstock calls the single “infectious and utterly charming.”

Co-written by Mize, Blake Chaffin, and Kelly Archer, “Can’t Get Away from a Good Time” is available here: http://smarturl.it/loganmize.

EXCLUSIVE ARTIST INTERVIEW: LOGAN MIZE

Thanks to Arista's Logan Mize for taking time out after his radio tour performance at WQDR in Raleigh, NC last week to give us some one on one time and for not giving me a hard time for leaving my questions in my hotel room and having to totally wing it. I wing it most of the time but this time I had to rely on my brain after a 10 hour drive from Nashville. I think we did ok. This was supposed to be a video interview but the background noise was a little too loud to edit so it's now become a written interview. I really enjoyed listening to Logan's music and getting to know a little more about Logan, the guy, in addition to Logan, the artist. I think we'll keep him around awhile.

Lovin' Lyrics: (Had no idea Cody was recording ...) ... Oh! Hey Logan! How are ya?

Logan Mize: (Smiling) ... Hey! I'm  good, how are you?

Lovin' Lyrics: I'm sorry, Cody caught me off guard. I had no idea we were ready to go.

Logan: (laughs) .. That's ok, I didn't either!

Lovin' Lyrics: I gotta tell you, I left my questions in the hotel room so I'm totally doing this off the top of my head. This may or may not end well. Ha!

Lovin' Lyrics: Ok, I'm here with new Artista artist, Logan Mize, actually new kick ass artist from what I just heard.

Logan Mize: Oh well thank you very much.

Lovin' Lyrics: You've got a brand new single out that's doing very well, "Can't Get Away From a Good Time" and sadly we just did have to get away from a good time because your performance ended.

Logan Mize: I still have my guitar, we can crank out a few more if ya want.

Lovin' Lyrics: So, for those who aren't familiar with you, give us a little bit of background.

Logan Mize: Um, well, I'm from a little town in Kansas and I've been in Nashville for .. um .. well ... almost a decade, it's been 9 years. I came to town with no money or anything, just jumped in and tried to figure it out. I was a truck driver for awhile and I built forklift pallates on second shift and in all that time, I just kept putting bands together. I played down on Broadway and would try to get shows out of town wherever they'd let me play. I think my first paying gig was actually a gig outside of Nashville opening for Pat Green through a fake booking agency I just made up. We got there and finally finished our set and Pat came in the trailer and was like "I enjoyed XYZ song" and he was really so nice and we were so excited that we drove off and forgot to get out paycheck. We drove all the way back to Nashville and realized we didn't get paid and they never paid us. So that was kind of the start of my touring career and from there I've been on the road ever since. I recently signed with Arista in gosh, October, so a few months ago and now I'm making my major label debut.

Lovin' Lyrics: You released an album a few years ago, "Nobody in Nashville". I guess you can't really call yourself that now, can you?

Logan Mize: (Laughs) ... yeah, I know! That was a really fun album to make and I learned a lot and I hope it sticks around, I hope they don't make it go away now that I'm signed. I am really proud of that one.

Lovin' Lyrics: You're writing with some of the best writers in the business, Blake Chaffin and also Randy Montana, who we've been behind since 2008.

Logan Mize: Yeah, they're good friends of mine, great writers. One of the new songs we're looking for as a single after "Can't Get Away" is a song I wrote with Randy. I wrote "Can't Get Away From a Good Time" with Blake, so everybody's involved in this project.

Lovin' Lyrics: You've had a couple of high profile television appearances. Your band is on stage in the "Fabric of Our Lives" commercial with Nashville's Hayden Panatierre and your band was featured on "Hart of Dixie".

Logan Mize: (Rolls eyes and laughs) ... Well, I don't know if I'd call them high profile. Yeah, I was in both of those and they were fun to do. Ya know, if you're really good with the pause button, you can catch both appearances but ya gotta be really good with that pause button. Yeah, I'm in there. (and he blushed a little too, so he's a little proud of if even if he brushes it off. LOL!)

Lovin' Lyrics: You've opened for a ton of big name headliners like Lady Antebellum and a few more.

Logan Mize: Yeah, there have been quite a few. Country music's good because people are so nice and they give you really good opportunities that you wouldn't get otherwise. They're great, they'll even come back after the show and say what songs they liked and tell you what a good job you did. There have been a lot of really good experiences over the years. I've opened for Dierks, Little Big Town, Hank Williams Jr, and LeAnn Rimes took me to the UK with her. Yeah, some really cool folks. I'm grateful for that.

Lovin' Lyrics: Being a new artist, what have you found is the hardest thing about getting your music heard?

Logan Mize: Hmm, well, since being on a major label, there's been nothing hard about it. It's been all kinda easy compared to driving in a van with your band through the night, forgetting your paycheck, So far everything has been great because there's a whole staff that works the single at radio and we haven't done much touring yet so I haven't been able to see how it's reacting as much, but I'm ready to get on the road this summer and see the difference because ya know before it was all based on word of mouth and whatever was on the Internet that people could scrounge up and Sirius XM The Highway, who has been really good to me.

Lovin' Lyrics: The Highway is where I heard the single. They've really been playing the heck out of it and from what I've seen and heard, it's getting a great response.

Logan Mize: John Marks has been very good to me. He kinda ramped up my touring quite a bit from where it was when I was an independent guy. Yeah, I'm excited to see how it does on the road with FM radio playing it.

Lovin' Lyrics: I think it's gonna be really good, at least based on the response you just got in this room from everyone. *AHEM*, I'm sure WQDR will be adding it, RIGHT CODY?

Lovin' Lyrics: If you had to pitch yourself to potential new fans, how would you sell yourself?

Logan Mize: Well, it's just really authentic music. I'm just a blue collar dude, I worked all the same jobs as other people that get off work and buy the music or tickets to come to my show. I used to work those jobs too. I feel like I relate to that person, I AM that person. It's really just a blue collar, every man kind of thing, really simple music like simple melodies and simple arrangements. I want my music to be relateable to everyone.

Lovin' Lyrics: Well I think it's going over very well with listeners and I think you're gonna be around a long time to tell your stories. So what's next on your agenda? Are you working on a new album?

Logan Mize: (Smiles) Well thank you very much. Yes, there's an album that we're working on right now. I actually just got two mixes this morning that I was listening to on the plane. Just working on that and finishing up this radio tour. I'm anxious to get back out on the road and play some shows.

Lovin' Lyrics: So fans can find you online. How can they find you?

Logan Mize: I'm at loganmize.com, that's M-I-Z-E and if you go to the website, you'll find the links to Twitter, Facebook and all the other social media sites.

Lovin' Lyrics: Do you handle your accounts yourself?

Logan Mize: Yes, I do. I do have a social media manager that kinda helps me sometimes if I'm not sure how to post something myself. I'm trying to get savvy on social media but there are still some times that I can't figure out the whole hashtag things or posting videos. Yeah, I basically run it most of the time with occasional help with things like that.

Lovin' Lyrics: Awesome. Love a guy who does his own account and so do his fans. Well thanks again for taking time to talk to me and I look forward to hearing more from you.

Logan Mize: Thanks for coming out and for talking to me. Have a safe drive back home! It means a lot that you came in for this on your drive home.

FEATURE ARTIST: GET TO KNOW LOGAN MIZE

New artist, Logan Mize, has had one hell of an impressive first week with his new single, "Can't Get Away From a Good Time". The single had over 100,000 downloads before officially impacting country radio last week and to date, he's had over 2.6 million streams as well as 50 major reporting station adds of the single. Not a bad way to celebrate being signed to a major label, Arista Nashville, huh?

I had the pleasure of an invitation to sit in on his radio tour stop at WQDR 94.7 FM in Raleigh, NC this week. I had already heard the single which has spread like wildfire thanks to Sirius XM's The Highway so I knew this was gonna be worth the overnight stay on the way home from a long drive to Nashville and more than worth the additional 3 hr drive the next day after the lunch/show. I was dead on, it wasn't just worth it, it was DAMN worth it. I could have listened for another hour but I guess all good things must come to an end at some time, thus did my time in the acoustic cafe. Thanks to WQDR for bringing in a great artist, one that I am pretty sure they'll be playing pretty regularly.

This ordinary guy from Kansas is quick on the path of proving he's anything but ordinary. A former truck driver, he's definitely delivering the goods. With a kick ass single in his corner, he's also got more charisma and charm than an entire season of desperate rose toting, serial dating contestants ABC's "The Batchelor" and a humbleness and sense of self that is hard to come across these days in the music industry. He's friendly, personable and just a genuinely nice guy, struggling to make it and after listening to his voice and watching how he interacts with those around him, I think it's a safe bet to say his struggle just got a whole lot easier. He's made a long time fan in me and that was before we even sat down to really talk. His voice really doesn't need any digital "tweaking", it's got a natural rasp that works well on it's own and he's a great storyteller. He's already made a presence in Nashville with his writing, having written with writers like Blake Chaffin and having had his song, "Mexicoma", cut by former American Idol finalist, Bucky Covington. He's also been featured alongside "Nashville" actress, Hayden Panettiere, in the "Fabric of Our Lives" commercial and in an episode of the series, "Hart of Dixie" which featured he and his band. He's definitely made his presence known.

Take the time to get to know Logan, he's gonna be around for a long time from the reception he's getting around Music City, country music fans and the radio industry. I would venture as far as to call him one of country's best new artists of the year, definitely in my personal top 2!

You can connect with Logan on Twitter at @LoganMize, on Facebook at @LoganMize, Youtube and on his official website - www.loganmize.com. Tell him we sent ya! His music is available on iTunes. Be sure to leave a review when you download, it helps more than you realize!
