NEW ARTIST MAGGIE SAJAK INSPIRED BY TEEN TO RAISE CANCER AWARENESS

Releases Song and Lyric Video for “Live Out Loud” With Proceeds Going Towards Cancer Research At Johns Hopkins Hospital

(Nashville, Tenn. – October 9, 2013) – Country music newcomer Maggie Sajak has released a special track called “Live Out Loud,” inspired by Muriel Walters, a 16-year-old girl battling cancer at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

This past summer, Sajak met Walters through Music is Medicine’s “Donate a Song” project, which pairs songwriters with pediatric cancer patients. After spending time with the young girl, Sajak and Michael Lord co-wrote “Live Out Loud,” a ballad about living for the moment and enjoying life no matter what it throws your way.   Sajak re-visited Muriel a few weeks later to premiere the tune for her and captured the meeting on camera, a moment that is featured in the “Live Out Loud” lyric video.
“I wanted to be able to have a positive impact on a patient’s life, and to make her smile,” Sajak said. “I also wanted to be able to inspire other patients and even those who are not suffering from cancer to lead a fuller life.”

Sajak is the fourth artist to participate in the program, which is raising awareness and money for the pediatric oncology research team at Johns Hopkins. Proceeds raised from download sales will go towards the Hospital and their cancer research initiatives. As Sajak says, “Muriel is living out loud and so should we.”

The lyric video comes after the release of Sajak’s current single, “Wild Boy.” The track is at Country radio now and can be found on iTunes here.

Sajak released her first single, “First Kiss,” when she was 16-years-old. The song was featured in two Country Music Television productions and the Hallmark Movie Channel flick, “Our Wild Hearts.” Now 18, Maggie is writing and recording music in Nashville for a full-length album, which is set for release in the spring of 2014.

VIDEO: MAGGIE SAJAK RELEASES NEW SINGLE, “WILD BOY,” TO COUNTRY RADIO

(Nashville, Tenn. – August 5, 2013) Country music newcomer Maggie Sajak is set to release a new single to Country radio on August 22nd, titled “Wild Boy.” The track is an upbeat, rhythmic salute to a rebellious boy with an intoxicating wild side.

“All of us girls that have had a wild boy in our life, and all of the guys that have been wild boys at some point, will understand the message of this song,” said Sajak. “It’s about making choices with your heart and deciding when to put your heart on the line for the captivating guy you just can’t forget about.”

The catchy track was written by hit songwriters Aimee Mayo (“This One’s For The Girls”), Chris Lindsey (“Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful”), Caitlyn Smith (“Let It Hurt”) and Troy Verges (“Wanted”) and was produced by Josh Leo (Martina McBride, Love & Theft).

A video for the single was shot at ACME Studios in Brooklyn. Tom Betterton and Jenny Gage directed the video, and Creative Director Mark Fina oversaw the project. The music video was conceptualized through a collaboration of top photographers, directors, stylists and artists, whose artistic interpretation of the song led to an honest and refreshing video. “It was such an honor to work with so many creative minds,” said Sajak. “The directors wanted to create an open environment where we all could work together to organically craft a video that truly embodied the song, and we were able to do just that.”

“Wild Boy” showcases Maggie’s personal experience from a self-reflective point of view and is a natural step in her maturation, not only as an artist, but also as a young woman.

Teen Vogue recently premiered the music video exclusively here. “Wild Boy” can now be viewed on Sajak’s YouTube page, and will soon be distributed by AristoVideo to a panel of national, syndicated, closed circuit, Internet and regional outlets in the coming weeks.

Maggie first discovered her love for music when she received a mini acoustic guitar from her grandparents when she was 8-years old. Her interest in music quickly became her passion and led her to record her debut single, “First Kiss,” when she was 16 years old. “First Kiss” was featured in two Country Music Television productions and the Hallmark Movie Channel flick, “Our Wild Hearts.”

Maggie has been singing for as long as she can remember and plays a variety of instruments, her personal favorite being her acoustic guitar, which she picked up at 13-years old. “Music has meant so much to me throughout my entire life, and has always provided a sort of escape for me. I hope that one day my songs will mean as much to the listeners as performing the songs mean to me,” says Sajak.

Maggie’s East Coast upbringing is somewhat atypical for a child in a celebrity family. The values her family life has instilled have provided Maggie with a strong moral compass, making her decision to pursue a career in country music an obvious one. “I feel so blessed to be a part of the country music world. For so many years, I have related other artists’ songs to my life, and now I have the opportunity to add to that collection of stories through my own music,” she says. With the support of Maggie’s mother and father, Lesly and Pat Sajak, Maggie is striving to reach her dreams, while remaining true to herself.

The budding new artist has been working in the studio in Nashville, writing and recording music for a full-length album set to release in the Spring of 2014.

Wild Boy” was released through Back East/GMV Nashville and is currently available on iTunes here. For more information, please visit www.MaggieSajak.com and follow her on Twitter and Facebook.
