SINGLE REVIEW: "AN EMPTY GLASS" - MARCUS LINDSEY BAND

The Marcus Lindsey Band is back! If you like your country with twang, roots and tradition, you won't get a bigger tip of the hat than these guys. They live it, they breathe it and they stand by the sound that defined a genre. With old school country songs like "One Less Fool in Amarillo" and "It's What You Don't" under their belts, their core audience is gonna love this one and if you're a country music fan and not familiar with this group, we think you'll become a new part of that core audience.

The new single, "An Empty Glass, a nod to the original 1964 classic by Gary Stewart, this song is a breath of fresh air in a stale pop-country room. In a vast sea of electric guitars, drum loops, snap tracks and the same melody/different lyrics comes a familiar, yet lonely steel cry. The song tells the story so well. We've all been there, not all of us literally as the lyrics state, but we've all been that lonely cry of the steel at one point in our lives and we've all been staring at "an empty glass" through the eyes of love and loss.

An empty glass
That last cigarette
It's closing time
And I'm drunk again

But somehow I'll make it home
And cry myself to sleep
That's how my day ends
Every night for me

Every night I'm in some bar
Pouring whiskey on a heart that's on fire
Forgetting you is no easy thing
Each night for me always ends the same

With an empty glass
That last cigarette
It's closing time
And I'm drunk again

The song title may be "An Empty Glass", but this glass is anything but lacking. This song is a full glass for any traditional country music fan, one that will be refilled over and over again by fans thirsty for a change. This, my friends, is top shelf country.

The single is available for streaming and download on all major digital outlets.

CD REVIEW: "MARCUS LINDSEY" - MARCUS LINDSEY BAND

Tonight being the airing of the 50th Anniversary of the CMA Awards, it seemed like the perfect time for me to tell as many country music fans as I can about the new self-titled album from a true "urban cowboy", Marcus Lindsey. The awards tonight is promoted as an homage to a genre of honest and simple music by artists that work hard to leave a positive impression and that and that's exactly what you get from Marcus and although I've had the CD for awhile, this is the exact reason I chose to wait until today to publish a review.

His first single released from the album, "One Less Fool In Amarillo" is a hint for this generation's singers to re-evaluate what this genre is about. It's not just about cut off shorts, white tank tops and making out on the hood of a truck while drunk on Fireball. It's about love, about loss, about holding on and about letting go. It's about how we handle the time between finding ourselves staring at the bottom of an empty bottle of Jack Daniels and seeing the light when we finally realize that enough is enough. This song is the start of a new beginning, something every one of us can relate to in one way or another. That's what this genre needs, emotional relativity.

With upbeat tracks and heartbreaking ballads, Marcus Lindsey shows off his range and his ability to draw in even the most discerning country music fan. He made sure there was something for everyone and he did it well. This album brought back so many memories of nights at the Longbranch watching artists like Clint Black and Garth Brooks before they became household names and dancing around a sawdust floor to a jukebox of country classics.

Marcus Lindsey is a vocal reminder that the days of George Strait and Keith Whitley aren't over, they've just been waiting until the right time to come around again.

#NEWARTIST - MARCUS LINDSEY HITS A CLASSIC NOTE WITH "ONE LESS FOOL IN AMARILLO"

‪#‎NEWARTIST‬ Marcus Lindsey really hits the heart of country tradition with his latest single, "One Less Fool In Amarillo".  Love this one! LOVE IT! Traditional country makes another appearance. What a classic voice. Now if I could only find a sawdust dance floor and someone who knows how to dance.

Marcus is one of the most authentic and talented singers in the country music market today. Born and raised in Texas, Marcus is the "True North" of country music. While mixing influences from genres as diverse as traditional country and southern rock, he weaves songs full of raw emotion and undeniable power. His music is available at most online music outlets.
