Two years since the tragic Indiana State Fair stage collapse on August 13, 2011 brought safety concerns in the touring industry to the forefront, the primary focus of the workshop this year will be on how to keep crew and audience members safe when it comes to stage assembly and breakdown. Jim Digby, Production Manager for Linkin Park and Founder of the Event Safety Alliance has been appointed as the Keynote Speaker to help educate attendees on how to best avoid accidents and pose safety during concert production.

"After twenty years in the touring industry, I started to notice friends of mine who were among the early generation of roadies had not prepared very well for their latter years," said Lisle. It was hard for me to watch them struggle with health and financial problems, so I thought to myself, 'What could have been done to prevent this?'" That's when the idea for the annual Touring Career Workshop was born.

There is no admission fee to attend the workshop, and no pressure to purchase any of the services offered during the sessions. "We want to present the tools needed to achieve long-term success by experts in each of their respective fields. Over 3,500 Teachers, School Administrators & Students Packed Grand Ole Opry House for Inaugural Event

NASHVILLE, TENN. (October 28, 2013) – Last night, Sunday, Oct. 27, country music stars Casey James, Sarah Darling, Striking Matches and the city of Nashville honored music teachers nationwide for all they do to support quality music education in schools during a special concert at the Grand Ole Opry House. The concert kicked off the National Association for Music Education’s (NAfME) 2013 National In-Service Conference, which is being held now through Oct. 30 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. Nashville Mayor Karl Dean welcomed the packed house of over 3,500 concert attendees saying, “I think it’s pretty clear that a quality arts education and in particular, a quality music education, is a key component to a well-rounded, successful education program. Arts education is not a frill, it is not optional -- not if we are going to give our students the tools they need to live rich and rewarding lives.”

Rising country duo Striking Matches (Justin Davis, Sarah Zimmermann), who were signed to new label, I.R.S. Records Nashville, earlier this week kicked-off the music for the night with harmonizing vocals and blazing guitars. “This is an amazing honor for us to be here and perform for you,” said Davis. “No offense to any of my other elementary school teachers but the only name I really remember is my music teacher!”

Powerhouse vocalist Sarah Darling followed their set with her four-piece band, belting out hit single “Home To Me,” and other crowd-pleasing songs like “Ho Hey” (The Lumineers) and “Missing You,” (John Waite). Attendees filled the Grand Ole Opry House with the glow of cell phone lights during the jaw-dropping delivery of her final song, “Landslide.” She closed expressing her gratitude for NAfME honoring her with the “Stand For Music” Award earlier this year and the work of all music educators.

American Idol finalist and headliner Casey James ended the night with an acoustic set including his hit “Crying on Her Suitcase,” to an enthused crowd who sang along to every word. “Music education is very important to me and I’m glad I can be a part of it,” he said. “I really appreciate what you all are doing for aspiring musicians.”

Outlining the vision behind the “Music Makes Us” program, which has been supported by Nashville’s music industry community, other local businesses and community leaders, Mayor Dean emphasized that cities can and should be ensuring students receive a quality music education in the schools, even in tough economic times. “What I want to leave with you is that it can be done,” he said. “Thank you for all you do in your local communities to make sure music remains a priority.” NAfME President Nancy Ditmer then presented Dean with a special award in honor of all of his work.

Pictured on the right, Artists also participated in a Q&A for students prior to the concert, answering questions they had about breaking into the music industry and the challenges of achieving long-term success.

The concert kicked-off a slew of other entertainment events to take place during NAfME’s conference this week, including a performance by more than 670 students selected as part of the All-National Honors Ensemble – the most skilled high school musicians in the country. Following Nashville At-Large City Councilman Ronnie Steine’s Keynote Address and other professional development workshops today, NAfME will host a fundraiser for their Give A Note Foundation for members at the Wildhorse Saloon tonight.

RISING RECORDING ARTISTS AND NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR MUSIC EDUCATION (NAFME) SALUTE MUSIC TEACHERS

Casey James, Sarah Darling, Striking Matches and Mark Wilkinson to Perform Opening Night of 2013 NAFME National In-Service Conference at Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 18, 2013) – On October 27, 2013, some of music’s top new recording artists will come together at the historic Grand Ole Opry House to shine the spotlight on the work of music teachers and show their gratitude for all that educators do to spread the joy of music in our nation’s schools. The special concert will kick-off the 2013 National Association of Music Education’s (NAFME) National In-Service Conference, and admission is FREE to all conference attendees, invited guests and All-National Honor Ensemble students.

American Idol finalist and 19/Columbia Records recording artist Casey James, known for country radio hits “Let’s Don’t Call It A Night,” and “Crying On Her Suitcase,” is an advocate for access to music in schools. “I really appreciate what music teachers are doing for aspiring musicians," he said. "Music education is very important to me and I’m glad I can be a part of NAFME’s Conference."

Country music star Sarah Darling, 2013 recipient of NAFME’s "Stand for Music" Award, adds, “My 7th and 8th grade music teacher, Ms. Stephanie Rumple, was a great influence on me. It was her careful guidance and passion for the arts that started me on my musical journey. I feel like I owe her, and all of the music teachers out there who help preserve music in our schools a huge ‘thank-you’, for all they do. This concert will hopefully resonate with them as our way of showing thanks for their work that sometimes goes unrecognized!”

James and Darling will join their peers Striking Matches (MTV/VH1/CMT’s O Music Awards finalist) and Australian chart-topper Mark Wilkinson (“Middle Ground,” “All I Ever Wanted’), to perform their fan-favorite songs in an exclusive, intimate setting reserved for those who inspire students through music.

The concert at the Grand Ole Opry House is one of the many highlights planned for the four-day NAFME National In-Service Conference taking place October 27 - 30, where the main theme centers around ways in which “Music Education Orchestrates Success”— in school, in work, and in life.

Teachers and school administrators who attend will address the proposed re-authorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, gain new insights into how classroom teaching styles are being evaluated, attend targeted professional development workshops, and celebrate the achievements of some of the nation’s most distinguished student musicians.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Wednesday, August 21, 2013) -- Country music star Sarah Darling has been making heartaches disappear all summer long with her latest feel-good break-up anthem, "Little Umbrellas," and now she'll debut the song on national TV on FOX & Friends this Saturday, August 24 (6 a.m. to 10 a.m. EDT). "'Little Umbrellas' is my first independent single release, so it was a pretty big risk for my team and I to put it out there. I'm truly taken back and humbled by the incredible momentum it's generated, " she said. "Thanks to all of my fans and industry supporters who have helped make it my 'Soundtrack to Summer 2013!' It's the greatest gratification when I look out in the crowd I see people up out of their seats dancing and singing along to it...that's why I do what I do!"

Darling will have the chance to thank her fans personally during a live streaming concert on StageIt tonight, Wednesday, August 21 at 8 p.m. EDT / 7 p.m. CDT. JOE DENIM SHARES HIS THOUGHTS ON CONTROVERSIAL ROLLING STONE COVER

Denim’s parody song, “Cover Of The Field & Stream," ft. Rodney Carrington strikes a chord

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Friday, July 19, 2013) – The firestorm of criticism over the latest Rolling Stone magazine cover, on-stands today, prompted a heated debate from several of country’s biggest stars, and those from Joe Denim just may strike a chord with others who are outraged by the cover. Denim, well-known comedian, songwriter and recording artist who co-wrote Jaron And The Long Road To Love’s multi-platinum-selling hit “Pray For You,” wittily claims the “Cover Of The Field & Stream” is now the only ‘rockstar’ place to be, in reference to one of his latest parody songs, now available on iTunes.

“It’s peculiar to me as an entertainer that it’s so impossible to get on the cover of Rolling Stone. There are millions of success stories that will never make the cover... yet to think that Rolling Stone chose to use that powerful platform to glorify a killer... a monster... someone who is so cowardly that he killed innocent children and American citizens --- it’s unbelievable to me. Everybody has the right to print, write, sing or say whatever they want, but they have a social responsibility to do what is right with the platform they have, and I think Rolling Stone is totally in the wrong here,” Denim shares.

It just so happens earlier this year, Denim teamed up with legendary guitarist/producer/songwriter Steve Cropper (“Sittin On The Dock of The Bay”, “Soul Man”, “Knock On Wood”, “In The Midnight Hour”) and Brian Mabry to write “Cover of The Field & Stream” - a parody to the well-known 70’s song, “Cover Of The Rolling Stone.” When it came time to record the song for Joe’s forthcoming album, he immediately joined forces with his good friend, stand-up comedian/network TV star/multi-platinum recording artist Rodney Carrington, who Denim says “has the ability to find the funny in every situation.” Produced by Grammy Award-winning Toby Wright, the song was brought to life in a comedic salute to the hunting and fishing culture. Today, it takes on a whole new meaning for Denim who thinks its message is the more honorable feat to attain.

“If I wanted to become an instant rockstar to all my friends and have them buy me free drinks and drive me around in their truck, all I’d need to do is be on the cover of the Field & Stream,” Denim says. “That’d be a dream come true! And after today's events with the Rolling Stone cover, that’s the only place I want to be.”

"Cover Of The Field & Stream" by Joe Denim ft. Rodney Carrington
Lyrics by: Steve Cropper, Joe Denim and Brian Mabry ©2013

Well we're big country singers, we like chicken fingers, and we get 'em everywhere we go; We sing about women, we sing about whiskey, 50 thousand dollars a show; We sip all kids a shine gets us seein' things but the things we ain't ever seen; Is the thing that'll getcha when you get your picture on the Cover of the Field & Stream

“The Cover Of The Field & Stream” will make its debut on Denim's forthcoming album and is now available for download on iTunes and other digital retail stores.

Having toured over the years with country stars Steve Holy, Jaron and The Long Road To Love, and as part of the Going Coastal Tour with Kenny Chesney and Uncle Kracker, Denim continues to bring his clever, comedic tunes to fans nationwide.

SARAH DARLING AND DJ DU POP UP "LITTLE UMBRELLAS"

Remix version of country music's "Soundtrack to Summer 2013" now available on iTunes and other digital retail stores

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Tuesday, July 16, 2013) -- Country music recording artist Sarah Darling has teamed up with DJ and Remix Producer, DJ DU to add an electronic dance flavor to her catchy, summertime single " Little Umbrellas," pegged the "Soundtrack to Summer 2013" by music industry execs. The hypnotic dance club version marks DJ DU's first commercial remix release and is NOW AVAILABLE nationwide on iTunes and other digital retail stores. Preview here.

On the new track, Darling kept her signature vocals true to the original, while DJ DU meshed electronica, pop and rock notes over an accelerated techno beat to create a remix version of "Little Umbrellas." The pair is confident the song will keep dance floors rockin' all summer long. "It is a summer anthem made for lovers of all types of music," DJ DU says. "Ladies will relate to it and there's no doubt guys can even use a 'little umbrella' in their drink every once in awhile."

The original "Little Umbrellas" is currently Top 20 and climbing on Sirius XM's "Highway Hot 30 Live" and earning increased mainstream country radio spins each week. Darling, who celebrated Top 35 Country Billboard sales success with former single " Home To Me" and appearances on CONAN, FOX & Friends, ABC's The Bachelor, HLN Morning Express and more, presented the idea for the remix to DJ DU after meeting him in a Nashville restaurant a few months back.

"Making a remix is something I've always wanted to do, so when I met DJ DU I knew he was the man for the job," Darling says. "He brought this song to life in another way and made it perfect to dance to. Can't wait for my fans to hear it!"

DJ DU made his national TV debut on the American Music Awards (FOX) where he mixed Kip Moore's "Something 'Bout A Truck," and "Beer Money," and since has been on the rise to music stardom. The first DJ signed to CAA, DJ DU spun a run of shows at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, secured a headlining spot at Nashville's GRAMMY Block Party and performed throughout the CMA Music Festival for thousands of country music fans. The former full-time DJ of a country/Top 40 dance club in Phoenix, Ariz. hopes the release of "Little Umbrellas" will spawn a positive reaction from music fans of all genres. "I hope everyone enjoys the remix as much as I enjoy Sarah's original," he says.

"I've always thought Sarah was an immense talent and it's an honor to not only work with her on this project but to have it be my first commercial remix release. No matter what happens in either of our careers from here, this one will always be special," DJ DU adds.

Darling and DJ DU will both make an appearance at this weekend's Country Thunder music festival in Twin Lakes, Wis., July 18-21, 2013.
