"MUSIC APPRECIATION DAY": SUPPORT INDEPENDENT MUSIC - BUY 3 TRACKS

Today is "Cyber Monday", the biggest online shopping day of the year. In the spirit of buying local and supporting independent "musical entrepreneurs", let's make today "Music Appreciation Day" and include the purchase of music directly via the artist/musician or songwriter's website.

Did you realize that the purchase of 3 songs will cost you as much as some of us pay for a single cup of coffee and that those songs can last up to 10 years or longer? Your favorite independent musicians most likely write, produce and perform their own songs. This is more than a hobby to them, this is their livelihood and a profession that endures more rejection and criticism than most of us ever see in our daily jobs. This is what puts food on their tables, pays their rent and keeps us listening to our favorite music. As a culture, we simply HAVE to value original creativity or at some point, it will quietly go away. It’s that simple.

Instead of downloading illegally or burning a copy of your friend's cd, go to your favorite artist/musician/band/songwriter's website and simply buy 3 tracks. If they have a link to iTunes on their site, purchase it using that particular link. Use whatever link the artist promotes on their website to purchase their music or if they have an online store, even better!

Promote the idea of music appreciation. Every musician on the planet will thank you and the music will continue to support you.
