COLTON JAMES RELEASES NEW EP "AMERICA" - AVAILABLE NOW!

Showcases his down-to-earth mentality, country roots, and passion
for country music and America

Colton James has released his new EP titled America. The EP features previously released tracks “I Miss America,” a patriotic anthem about the America he knows and loves, and “Ring On Her Finger,” a love ballad dedicated to his wife. America is available to stream here.

The EP was recorded at Starstruck Studios and Ocean Way Studio and is produced by Colton, the late Kim Tribble, and Jimmy Nichols. Colton also co-wrote six of the seven songs.

Colton commented on the release of his debut EP, saying, “I have always said music is the voice of the soul, and I couldn’t be happier to share this music with the world. As a painter paints with a brush, a songwriter paints with a pen. I hope the picture I painted in these seven songs puts a smile on your face and a proud feeling in your heart to be American. It was an honor to work with all that made this EP possible.”

Colton James’ country roots run deep and were developed at a young age. What started as a truck ride to the fishing hole became a lifestyle. In the front seat of his father’s truck, Colton was introduced to legends like George Jones, Keith Whitley, George Strait, and Merle Haggard. He discovered his love for music through both of his grandmothers, who played piano and organ, and his singing abilities came from his mother.
His music showcases his down-to-earth mentality, country roots, and passion for country music and America. Colton has opened for established artists like Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Toby Keith, John Pardi, and Jason Aldean in his career.
Colton also has plenty of upcoming projects in the works, including partnering up with Rick Dawson, owner of 2022 Kentucky Derby-winning thoroughbred Rich Strike, to launch RedSunset Entertainment, a Nashville-based upstart multimedia company. It is set to produce records, television, radio programming, and more.
Other projects include a show combining fishing, music, and food from across the globe titled Reel Water Cowboy. It will also have an accompanying radio show. Along with this, Colton is also working to bring the Land 4 Heroes Lodge, a 15,000-square-foot building that will aid and help veterans by giving them a resting place to break bread and visit with others in Southampton County, Virginia. Colton describes it as a place where "stories are told, memories are shared, and new ones are made."

Colton expresses why he loves making music, saying, “I do it for the love of my family, for the love of my friends, for the love of my country, but mostly for the love of God. Without God, I wouldn’t be here.“

COLTON JAMES RELEASES MUSiC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "I MISS AMERICA" - OUT NOW

Country singer and songwriter Colton James has released his music video for his single “I Miss America.” The video represents the heart of America and the things that comprise it: veterans, family values, and hard work.

Produced by Colton and Jimmy Nichols, written by Colton and Rick Dawson, and mixed by Steve Marcantonio, “I Miss America” recalls simpler times gathering around Grandma’s table for Sunday lunch with friends and family and working sunup to sundown.

Colton speaks on the release of the music video, saying, “We had a lot of fun shooting the video and made some new friends along the way. We hope that it brings people together in our country and puts a smile on their faces to be proud Americans. We hope they realize our best days are ahead, and together, we can get through anything as one nation.”

Rick Dawson, the owner of 2022 Kentucky Derby-winning thoroughbred Rich Strike, commented on the writing process of “I Miss America,” saying, “Colton and I gathered at my table and wrote the song in a couple of hours. However, Colton and I were not alone, as there were others in spirit pushing our pens for us.”

On January 20, 2023, Colton plans to release his debut EP, America, which will include “I Miss America” and other nationalist anthems that speak for the love of his country and those who have fought for it.

Colton also has plenty of upcoming projects in the works, including a show combining fishing, music, and food from across the globe titled Reel Water Cowboy. It will also have an accompanying radio show. Along with this, he is working to bring the Land 4 Heroes Lodge, a 15,000-square-foot building that will aid and help veterans while giving them a resting place to break bread and visit with others.

SINGLE REVIEW: "WHAT WE AIN'T GOT" - JAKE OWEN

Jake Owen’s newest single “What We Ain’t Got” displays why we all love him as an artist.  I reviewed this song before as a “Songs of Summer” song, as my favorite off of his “Days of Gold” album.

Jake always has that ability to make your day a little better. His songs leave you thankful for your life and/or thankful for his music. They range from light, upbeat songs like “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” and “Eight Second Ride” that you can’t help but smile when you hear them, fun drinking songs like “Who Said Whiskey Was Meant to Drink a Woman Away?” and “Nobody Feelin’ No Pain” which are songs about how a girl’s dancing towards him throughout the night after she gets a little whiskey in her and a night’s celebration released this as a live version where he stops and tells the listener what he and his friends had previously done, respectively. There are also the songs with heavier fare and important messages such as this one and “Green Bananas.”  A veritable smorgasbord of stories, each with their own evocator. As evocators go “What We Ain’t Got” is most assuredly one of Jake’s most powerful, if not his most powerful to date. Written by Travis Jerome Goff and Travis Meadows, the impeccable artists who have concocted such a storm of longing ache and striking beauty that you can’t help but get swept up in it. Jake manages to convey every second of this, as his vocals are incomparable in this song. As though this song was never meant for anyone else, it is exceedingly well-suited for Jake. Raw talent streaming forth from his voice, nothing has ever sounded like this from him before. The simple piano background used is all that is needed to accompany this song, as this is sole focus on his voice and the story within the song. It would be so interesting to hear the full story behind this song, what Travis’ Jerome Goff and Meadows were thinking of when they wrote it and how Jake Owen connected to it and what he has derived from it ... a song about running after what you want most, until you realize you’ve left what was most important behind.
