SONGS YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO: FRIDAY, JANUARY 7

Welcome to a new year! This year, tune into newer artists as well as veteran artists who are still releasing new music and give them some exposure. There is some good stuff released to digital outlets everywhere this week - check 'em out and please #sharethemusic!

If you are able to leave a review on the outlet you use, please do so and let them know how you like the song. These reviews are so helpful to an artist and their team. If you don't like the song, be constructive in your review, not rude. The point is to help these artists, not discourage. And yes, I know there are LOTS of good songs that have been released the past week or two and they're not all listed here. I choose the ones that stand out to me and those might not always stand out to you but at least you've heard about them. Most of the time they won't be by artists who saturate today's country radio but there might be one or two in there if the song hits me right.

Be sure to check out the artist's websites and find out more about them and the latest tour dates. Connect with them on social media.

PAUL BOGART RELEASES ROOTSY COVER OF BILL WITHERS’ “AIN’T NO SUNSHINE”

Listen to "Ain't No Sunshine" HERE

Paul Bogart lends his genuine cowboy authenticity to his reimagined and rootsy cover of the late Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Originally a bluesy and timeless classic, Bogart’s new interpretation of the song brings it squarely into the realm of traditional country music, offering a fresh perspective on an age old tale of heartbreak and longing. With swampy guitars, smooth vocals, and an eerily haunting fiddle part, the single gives listeners a rich and earthy presentation of a beloved song.

I can remember the first time I heard this song when I was 10 years old. My mom was singing her little heart out in the family car with the windows down right along with Bill Withers on the oldies radio station. I’d have never dreamed I would eventually get to record it and release it as my own single. Today is a good day!” said Paul Bogart.

Paul is no stranger to pushing the parameters of country music and making it his own. He’s received widespread acclaim for his seamless effort to maintain commercial success all while bringing the fundamental roots that make traditional country music a time tested genre to the forefront of his music. A well-versed songwriter himself, his writing is a reflection of his musical heritage. In regards to Paul’s last single, Taste of Country said “Paul Bogart's new song is a shot of unadulterated feel-good country music. The singer-songwriter captures the upbeat, sunny vibe of a new love in 'When She Gets a Hold on You.'"

"Ain't No Sunshine" was produced by Zach Farnum and is a 117 Music release

PAUL BOGART PREMIERES MUSIC VIDEO FOR “WHEN THE COWBOYS ARE GONE” AT AQHA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Scores Recent Cuts by Red Steagall, Kevin Fowler
and Roger Creager

Country crooner Paul Bogart brings us back to the way it used to be in his black and white video for “When The Cowboys Are Gone.” The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) premiered the video at their World Championships in Oklahoma, where Bogart competed and finished second in team roping. He has won the World Championship title twice. The video has a vintage feel, switching between shots of Bogart performing the song and vignettes of classic cowboy scenes. The video can be viewed here and the song can be streamed here. The video was additionally premiered, this morning, on Facebook by the AQHA and Country Rebel and already has over 10,000 views.

“When The Cowboys Are Gone” was written by Bogart with Trent Willmon and Shane Minor and produced by Willmon. The video was directed by Pepper Meiler.

On top of his own projects, Bogart recently scored two major cuts on highly-respected artists’ albums. The first, “I Won’t Have Far to Go” on Red Steagall’s October 11 release, Hats Off To The Cowboy. One of only two outside cuts on the record, Bogart also penned this with Trent Willmon and Shane Minor. The other, “Purdy Dang Bueno” on Kevin Fowler and Roger Creager’s Dos Borrachos record, released November 15. Bogart co-wrote that song with Michael White and Trent Willmon, other notable writers on the record include Michael Hardy, Jessie Jo Dillon, Snuff Garrett, Steve Dorff, Brett Beavers, J.T. Harding and more.

“What a year! 2019 has been one for the books - coming off of a big win at the same AQHA World Championship Show that premiered my new video on the big screen. A huge highlight of the year is the honor of having a hero like Red Steagall record one of my songs, I couldn’t be more thrilled and humbled,” said Paul Bogart.

PAUL BOGART'S LEATHER TAKES LISTENERS ON A RIDE BACK TO COUNTRY MUSIC'S ROOTS

New Project Features Songs by Bob DiPiero, Trent Willmon, Bill Whyte, Jenee Fleenor, Easton Corbin and More

Editor's note: Lovin' Lyrics has been a supporter of Paul and his music since 2008 and we're so glad to see him finally getting the interest he's worked so hard for. He's an artist you need to have on your playlist if you're a fan of traditional country music.

Traditional country stylist, Paul Bogart, announces the release of his new album, Leather, which includes the lead single, “All That Cowboy Jazz.” The project takes listeners back to the sound of an era country legends that included Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, all with Bogart's own spin. Produced by Sony Nashville recording artist, Trent Willmon (Little Big Town’s “Rain on a Tin Roof,” Montgomery Gentry’s “Back When I Knew It All”), the album can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and www.paulbogart.com.

“This album is about hard work, hustle, and loving the woman God gave you,” Paul Bogart says candidly. “It’s about keeping your head down when you win and crawling back in the saddle when you hit the ground.”

These are sentiments Bogart knows firsthand, having grown up in Northeast Oklahoma in a family of truckers, team ropers and musicians. The title track hearkens back to those heartland roots and homegrown work ethic.

“Not only is Paul a great singer and writer, he is a real cowboy…when he sings a song about it, he’s lived it," said Sony Nashville recording artist, Trent Willmon.

Leather is poised to resonate with everyday people and fill an increasingly gaping hole in modern country music. It features songs written and co-written by some of the biggest names in country music — Jim Beavers (Gary Allan’s “Watching Airplanes”), Shane Minor (Eric Church’s “My Kind Of Love”, Kenny Chesney’s “Live A Little”), Easton Corbin and more.

Though his songs are fresh and he himself is young, he is an old soul with a knack for capturing time-honored traditions and summing up classic sentiments in catchy, three-minute songs. Exuding sincerity and a rare, down-to earth charm, Paul Bogart is, simply put, the epitome of traditional country music.

Leather Track Listing:

1. Better With My Baby (Cassidy Lynn, Paul Bogart, Daniel Stephen Wilson)
2. Pretty Please (Jim Beavers, Bob DiPiero, Easton Corbin)
3. When the Cowboys Are Gone (Trent Willmon, Paul Bogart, Shane Minor)
4. George Jonesin’ (Cassidy Lynn, Paul Bogart, Daniel Stephen Wilson)
5. Leather (Cassidy Lynn, Paul Bogart, Daniel Stephen Wilson)
6. All That Cowboy Jazz (Zach Runquist, Paul Bogart, Bill Whyte)
7. Way Past Beautiful (Jenee Fleenor, Buddy Owens, Phil O’Donnell)
8. Grow (Bill Whyte, Paul Bogart)
9. This World Is Not My Home (Albert Edward Brumley)
10. Buckaroo Lullaby (Bill Whyte, Paul Bogart)

Paul Bogart Tour Dates:
