JOIN SCOTTY McCREERY’S “SOUTHERN BELLES” AND SUPPORT ST. JUDE’S WALK/RUN TO END CHILDHOOD CANCER ON SEPT. 26

Scotty McCreery has been a strong supporter of charitable causes close to his heart, such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This month in honor of the Mercury Nashville / 19 / Interscope recording artist, the Scotty McCreery Fan Club has created “The Southern Belles,” a team named after his new single, “Southern Belle,” to participate in the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer in Nashville on Sept. 26 at Edwin Warner Park at 8:00 AM -- and they are asking their fellow fans to join them.

Anyone who wants to join “The Southern Belles” can visit http://walkrun.stjude.org/southernbelles to sign up to walk with the team, donate money to St. Jude for the fight against childhood cancer, or both. Each person who donates will be entered in a drawing for a McCreery prize pack. More information can also be found at www.scottyfans.com/news.

As part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, St. Jude will be holding Walk/Runs all over the nation on Sept. 26. The Nashville event has a goal to raise $210,000 for the cause, and “The Southern Belles” are excited to help the hospital reach its goal.

“I’ve always said I have the greatest fans in the world, and it makes me both happy and proud to see them create ‘The Southern Belles’ as a way of raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said McCreery.  “St. Jude performs miracles regularly for children from all walks of life. I am truly honored and thankful that my fans want to support such a worthwhile organization in my name.”

McCreery’s new single “Southern Belle” can be heard nationwide on country radio and is available for purchase at http://umgn.us/southernbelle.

COUNTRY SONGWRITER JENN SCHOTT AND 7 YEAR OLD BRAIN CANCER SURVIVOR ARE "WINNING" TOGETHER

If you're a country music fan, you're probably very familiar with this Saturday’s St. Jude Country Music Marathon in Nashville. The race attracts 30,000 runners from around the world and benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Those who particpate and raise funds are known as St. Jude Heroes and that's exactly what they are, helping kids who are battling cancer and other life threatening and terminal diseases.

Among this year's St. Jude Heroes is Jenn Schott, a  singer/songwriter who wanted to do more than just run and raise money. She truly wants to help raise awareness and bring attention to the misson of St Jude. Jenn joined forces with Parallel Music Publishing and songwriter Michael White and produced a song they've titled "Winning” which came from the inspiration of Ian, a 7 year old St. Jude patient.

Ian, a brain cancer survivor who was treated at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, will be present at this weekend's Country Music Marathon. Running in his honor is a team named Ian’s Rockin’ Runners. This year mark's Ian's 5 year post treatment anniversary. To celebrate this very important and signficant year, Ian will not only be present at the run, he will be running the 5K with his mom while his dad runs the half-marathon. Ian's Rockin' Runners, determined to raise at least $5,000.00
have already surpassed that goal. Ian's St. Jude journey to wellness and a new life gave Jenn the inspiration to write and surprise them with this song which debuts this month on Country Music Nation. Jenn will perform the song at a party for St. Jude Heroes being held at the Music City Center Friday night, April 24, with Ian and his family in attendance. Ian’s dad is also going to share his family’s story as a guest speaker at the event.

"Winning" is available on iTunes and 100% of the sales go directly to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

KRTY TEAMS WITH ERIC CHURCH, JUSTIN MOORE AND KIP MOORE TO RAISE $6,300 FOR ST JUDES

Congratulations to one of the best mainstream stations out there, KRTY/San Jose, who plays the best new music and somewhat bucks the whole concept of "industry politics" by making their music selections based on what their listeners actually want to hear and give new artists a chance to shine. KRTY has 3 of the best and fan friendliest DJ's in the industry - Indiana Al, Renee and Eric Steel.

They raised $6,300 for St. Jude Children's Hospital with the help of Justin Moore, Kip Moore and Eric Church. Following the Blood Sweat And Beers tour stop in San Jose on Friday, November 9, the party continued at Rodeo Club where Justin Moore performed an acoustic set for 1,000 fans who paid $10 at the door or $5 if they produced a ticket stub from the BS and B show. KRTY's Nate Deaton told Country Aircheck, "Justin played for an hour, then Kip came up and played "Somethin' 'Bout A Truck." Church, who planned on just hanging out, jumped onstage and played 'Chevy Van' and 'Two Pink Lines.' Justin donated every dime at the door to St. Jude kids; it was amazing."

No Shave? No Brainer (source - Country Aircheck)

Last week’s Beard Bash officially wrapped up No Shave November, which raised more than $35,000 for
St. Jude – far exceeding the original $2,500 goal. NSN, however, may just be getting started. This year’s hastily assembled, industry-only affair has the potential to become an annual radio promotion with wide
reach. And the blueprint may be found in the efforts of WSIX/Nashville morning personality Billy Greenwood, who was honored as NSN’s top fundraiser with a final tally of $3,185 – almost 10% of the total. The social media component, an ever-growing point of emphasis for radio, was key. “I introduced it over a weekend and within a couple of hours I had received close to $1,000,” Greenwood says. At that point he hadn’t even mentioned the event on-air, but those announcements eventually came, too. “I
probably hit it a couple of times per week,” he explains. “The last week it was every day, but I talked about it on Facebook and/or Twitter every day. Every time I posted I’d get about five people who would donate.
“It was a very cool and unique way to raise money for a cause we all believe in,” he says. “The response I got on the Web was far more than what happened on the air. Maybe it’s because they’re sitting in front of the computer and it’s easy to donate. I really hope radio will get behind this a lot more next year.”
Greenwood tracks numerous shows for Clear Channel stations across the U.S. and says that even though that helped, Facebook was the catalyst. “It had a grass-roots feel. I think that’s why we got a great response. It was amusing. There’s also something inside of us guys with this competition where we wanted to outgrow each other.”

WMN regional Lou Ramirez originally took the idea to St. Jude/Nashville’s Jackie Proffit and Teri Watson, and agrees with Greenwood that there’s plenty of room for growth – awareness, financial and otherwise. “This time it was organic and fun, but if we could get them talking about it and personalities posting
photos on their station websites, that will be key to passing our total from this year,” he says. “We’ve been talking about putting together a ‘Beard of Directors’ for next year to get more organized. There are a group of guys who have been passionate about this. Maybe we can start doing events ahead of November and even get more labels involved. There’s definitely a buzz.”

No Shave November Goal Continues to "Grow" Past $20K

No Shave November logo
No Shave November has passed their $20K goal. The donations are growing as fast as the hair and impatience to shave! Of course, if you're that impatient, you can always take the weight of manhood off your shoulders and claim the Meeker clause ... but what kind of man ARE you then? Huh? Remember, it's for the kids of St. Jude's, suck it up! There's still time to donate!

Join "Team Lou" and Don't Shave for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

This one is very important to me. I am a huge believer in doing what you can to help others (hence this whole music promotions thing) and an even bigger advocate of helping children because they can't help themselves. "No Shave November" brings these two loves of mine together with my love of music and love for my friend, Lou Ramirez, at Warner Brothers Nashville. Let's help his team bring in the most donations for this worthy cause and help Warner Brothers help the kids.

Ladies, you can do this too by not shaving your legs. I know it's not the most comfortable thing to go through but these kids are going through more discomfort and pain and their's doesn't end in November.

Let's do this, let's pull together and win this fight!

It all began as a light-hearted wager among co-workers at Warner Music Nashville. George Meeker, Lou Ramirez and Tyler Wall of the radio promotion team decided to see who could last the longest in a “No Shave November” competition. This year, the stakes are higher as Warner Music Nashville challenges Music Row and Country Radio to join the “No Shave November” competition and raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.

The cost to enter the challenge is $30 and sign-up here. On Oct. 31, participants will start with a clean shave and post a photo of themselves with that day’s newspaper on Facebook to officially enter the competition. On Nov. 30, participants will submit their final facial hair photos, again with that day’s newspaper. Participants will then gather for a “Beard Bash” at The Moose Music Row (www.moose4men.com) in Nashville, where prizes will be awarded to the finalists and a “No Shave November Champion” will be crowned by a panel of celebrity judges. To help raise even more money for the kids of St. Jude and help participants “save face” with families and coworkers, the contest also includes The Meeker Clause, which allows participants and non-participants to pay $30 to allow a contestant to shave before the month is through.

The clause is named for Meeker, Warner Music Nashville’s regional promotions manager, George Meeker, who entered last year’s competition as a newlywed and was asked by his bride to shave during the friendly competition. A donation of $30 is required to invoke The Meeker Clause or to cancel or “trump” a Meeker Clause request to shave.

“No Shave November” Rules and Regulations:

All participants will completely shave their face on Oct. 31 and post a photo with an Oct. 31 newspaper (to confirm the date) on Facebook.

Participants cannot shave for the entire month of November ( Clean-up shaving will be allowed around the neck and the upper part of the cheeks.)

For a $30 donation to St. Jude, a third party can pay for a participant to shave before the end of the month, or trump that request to shave. Participants also can pay $30 to shave before the end of the competition. On Nov. 30, participants are asked to take a picture showing off their final facial hair with that day’s newspaper (to confirm the date)

The “Beard Bash” will be thrown on Nov. 30 to commemorate the end of the competition.

All proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
