SINGER SONGWRITER KIMBERLY KELLY RELEASES “BLUE JEAN COUNTRY QUEEN,” FEATURING STEVE WARINER

Track is Featured on Forthcoming 12-Song, Label Debut,
I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen, Set for Release July 8

On the heels of the announcement of her label debut, I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen, arriving July 8 via Show Dog Nashville in partnership with Thirty Tigers, singer/songwriter Kimberly Kelly releases another taste from the forthcoming album with “Blue Jean Country Queen” featuring Steve Wariner.  Produced by Brett Tyler, Kelly’s husband and a hit songwriter himself with No. 1s like “Cold Beer Calling My Name” under his belt, and written by Kelly, Tyler and Wariner the upbeat track is an ode to confident women with the chorus declaring:

She’s a blue jean country queen
A honky tonk heart attack
Boots to her knees fringe on her sleeves
And horns on her Cadillac
Momma’s prayer, and daddy’s nightmare,
Made for the neon lights
She’s a blue jean country queen
Looking for a king tonight

“It was the first-time meeting and writing with Steve for both Brett and I,” shares Kelly. “Brett was complementing Steve on his signature tempo like the one on ‘Nothin' but the Taillights’ that he wrote, and I already had the title ‘Blue Jean Country Queen’ which just seemed right for a Steve tempo. Then to top it off, Steve ended up playing guitar on the song. He had us out to his home studio to play us the track. It was incredible. This track might be the theme of the whole album.”

“It was so fun writing this with Kimberly and Brett, even if it was via Zoom,” shares Wariner. “I LOVE this record! It’s a country ‘mini movie’ wrapped up in three and a half minutes. Kimberly absolutely lays it down! So proud to be in on this one!”

The new track follows the release of nostalgic song-of-summer ready track, “Summers Like That” which left Billboard praising Kelly’s “warm, lifting voice.” Written by Karyn Rochelle and Bobby Tomberlin and produced by Tyler, the song not only name checks a number of classic 90s country hits but is also sonically, reminiscence of some of Kelly’s biggest influences, artist like Trisha Yearwood, Pam Tillis, Brooks & Dunn and Deana Carter.

A native of Lorena, Texas, Kelly spent years in both the Texas and Nashville music scenes earning an education in experiences that have made her both fearless in her approach to creating and unafraid to defy convention when it comes to industry expectations. Those years of hard work, all while also earning a Master’s degree and working fulltime, culminated last summer in a long-awaited record deal with Show Dog Nashville. Now she is set to make her label debut.

Off stage Kelly possess an inviting warmth mixed with sly self-deprecation, a winsome combo only earned with some life experience, self-awareness and nothing to prove on stage just the goods to stop a listener in their tracks. "This is not my first rodeo," Kelly says of her label debut. "I worked really hard in Texas before I came to Nashville. I wrote songs, put out records, did a radio tour, and played every weekend while going to school and working full-time.”

The album’s title, I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen, is a clever nod to her friend and fellow Texas musician, the late Country Music Hall of Famer, Billy Joe Shaver. The abbreviated quote comes from the better-than-fiction-true story of Shaver forcing his way into a Waylon Jennings recording session after the star tried to renege on recording some of his songs. Brushing off a $100 bill to go away, Shaver said to Jennings, "I'll tell you what's gonna happen. You're gonna either listen to these songs or I'm gonna whip your ass." Waylon agreed to listen to one. The rest is history in the form of Jennings' 1973 Honky Tonk Heroes album, on which every song but one was written by Shaver.

“I landed on this album title on a dare," Kelly says. "I was like, 'Sure. What do I care?' I did the Texas music scene, I’ve done time in Nashville, and I thought my time had passed when I got offered my record deal. My husband could keep writing songs and I'd just be a speech therapist. So I made this album like it's the last one I'll ever get to make and the title is my mantra so to speak. I love good songs, and I let the best ones win whether I wrote them or not. It’s a compilation I’m proud of, and I’m thrilled for people to hear them!”

I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen Track List:

1.) “Honky Tonk Town” (Jessi Alexander, Jessie Jo Dillon & Brett Tyler):
2.) “Some Things Have a Name” (Bob DiPiero & Troy Johnson)
3.) “Summers Like That” (Karyn Rochelle & Bobby Tomberlin)

HIT-MAKERS ROSANNE CASH, SONNY CURTIS, FRANK ROGERS AND STEVE WARINER HEADLINE “THE FIRST AND THE WORST” TO BENEFIT MUSIC HEALTH ALLIANCE

Musical event at City Winery Nashville raises $95,000 for non-profit

Iconic singer/songwriters Rosanne Cash, Sonny Curtis, Frank Rogers and Steve Wariner took the stage at City Winery Nashville Wednesday night, March 1, to perform the very first and worst songs they have ever written as they divulged the stories and the songs that led to their biggest hits, all to benefit Music Health Alliance. The third annual “The First And The Worst” event raised $95,000 for the non-profit, which provides access to invaluable healthcare support and services, at no cost to members of the music industry. In only four years, Music Health Alliance has secured over $15.5 million dollars in life-changing healthcare resources and enabled access to doctors, medicine, health insurance and financial assistance for 5,200 music industry entrepreneurs and professionals.  Learn more at musichealthalliance.com.

Songwriter Sandy Knox (“Does He Love You?,” “Why Haven’t I Heard From You?”) was the first to take the stage, sharing the inspiration behind “The First And the Worst” before humbly performing her not-so-memorable  song “You Can’t Put Your Love In Layaway,” written at the age of fifteen.

Highlights from the evening included legendary Rock And Roll Hall of Famer and celebrated songwriter Sonny Curtis performing “I’m No Stranger To The Rain,” “I Fought The Law” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” theme song, along with his never-before-heard “Clone,” which competed for the worst song of the night.

Four-time Grammy® winner Rosanne Cash wowed the audience, performing her breakout hit, “Seven Year Ache.” In keeping with the night’s theme Cash shared “This Has Happened Before,” the first song she ever recorded and one she jokingly derided for its overuse of nature metaphors and minor chords. Americana Association Lifetime Achievement in Songwriting recipient Rodney Crowell, who also serves on the Board of Directors for Music Health Alliance, surprised the audience, joining Cash onstage to sing “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me” together for the very first time.

The multi-talented Steve Wariner elicited a collective gasp from the audience and fellow performers after confiding he wrote his iconic “I’m Already Taken” at the ripe old age of 17. He shared his first song, the teenage-angst filled “The Whole World Is Smiling But Me,” and later sang his CMA award-winning song, “Holes In The Floor Of Heaven.”

In a close contest, Frank Rogers, who has produced 18 Gold and Platinum albums to date, received the highly-coveted “Crappy” Award for his off-color “Playing Possum,” as voted by the audience as "The First And The Worst’s" most memorable song of the night. 2015’s “Crappy” Award recipient Wynn Varble was on hand to present the award. Rogers later went on to perform hits “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” and “Alright.”

“The night’s memorable events allow our creative community to help heal the music and come together to support the long-term health of our own industry and its members,” said Music Health Alliance Founder and 2016 Nashville Healthcare Hero, Tatum Hauck Allsep. "The funds Rosanne, Sonny, Frank and Steve helped raise last night will allow Music Health Alliance to provide free support and services to help heal the music – from access to life-saving medicines, surgeries, treatments and health insurance that is not readily available to the majority of the music industry who are self-employed and part of small businesses.”

NASHVILLE – – Country music legend Steve Wariner traveled to New York City to speak with students yesterday at New York University’s (NYU) Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music about the art of songwriting. He was invited to speak by NYU adjunct professor Mike Errico, who met Wariner after a performance in New York City earlier this year.

“I was really honored to be asked to speak with Mike’s students about songwriting, which is one of my favorite things to do,” said Wariner. “The students were so attentive and had such great questions. The fact that the Institute of Recorded Music is named after my old friend Clive Davis made it even more special.”

There is NOTHING bad about this new release from Steve Wariner, as a matter of fact, it's a welcome change to know he's back in the game. With today's market so saturated with pop and hick hop infused country, it's nice to hear music that gets back to the basics and just calms the soul and that's exactly what Steve Wariner does. This cd is a reminder of what country once was and what long time country fans love: simplistic, well written, good feeling music. Tradition like this may not appeal to everyone, but it will appeal to those who just appreciate truly good music and are grateful for a serving of tradition with their order of country. It has a little bit of everything in it from a similarity of the uncomplicated stylings of Vince Gill and The Eagles, to more upbeat tempos, a little jazzy undertone, and songs that will simply tug at your heartstrings.

The opening title track, "It Ain't All Bad" is somewhat reminiscent of mid-90's country, the time when country was really starting to take hold of music fans, establishing it's presence and letting listeners know it wasn't going anywhere and was only going to get better as time moves forward and that's what this cd does, it only gets better as it goes on. From "Arrows and Airplanes" which immediately takes you back to a time when you could find country fans doing the Texas Two Step around a sawdust floor on a Saturday night to the soul touching ballad, "Don't Tell Her I'm Not" and the sentimentality of " I Want to Be Like You", listeners can expect the depth and emotion that first made them fall in love with Steve's music and the comfortable feelings of a warming of the soul and good memories which continue effortlessly through each song, track by track, memory by memory. These songs showcase the vocals that show just why Steve is timeless, why his talent is so deeply appreciated. He also shows off his skills on the guitar, proving he's not only a classic vocalist but a top shelf musician as well. From the deep melodic rhythms to a broad range of various guitar styles, he covers them all in this project and makes even the best of guitarists tune into the melody behind the lyrical stories of the songs. There are many other great songs on this cd and you'll just have to listen to the stories behind these songs and the silence between the notes to understand what it means to really understand great music, because this cd is truly great music. Steve Wariner has proven again that class, simplicity and genuine heart always make for the perfect song. He's even one upped that point and has proven that there is such thing as the perfect cd.

This is a cd that is a welcome addition to any country collection, really to any music collection.

You can purchase the cd at most music retailers and online at iTunes and Amazon.

Performs on “GAC Daily Countdown” on Sept. 11

Sirius XM’s Prime Country Channel 58 Presents “Steve Wariner Album Release Celebration” Sept. 13-15

Grand Ole Opry Performance and In-Store Signing on Sept. 13-14

Featured in Current Country Weekly Issue (Sept. 16 Cover Date), Guitar World.com, Country Weekly.com, Billboard.com, and More

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  -  Sept. 10, 2013 – The wait is over! Today, country music legend Steve Wariner releases his first new, non-instrumental album in more than eight years, It Ain’t All Bad. The four-time GRAMMY and CMA Award winner, who has placed 14 songs on top of the charts, produced the much-anticipated album and wrote or co-wrote all 12 songs. The album is available at retail stores nationwide and everywhere digital music is sold, including Amazon.com and iTunes.

“I am so happy to finally release It Ain’t All Bad today,” said Wariner. “I’ve been talking about the album for weeks, and I’ve heard from so many people that are anxious to hear it. I’m really proud of this album, as I think it really spotlights where I am in my life right now. You know, we are all going to have good days and bad days, but as long as you’re with the person you love, it ain’t all bad!”

It Ain’t All Bad continues to receive praise.

Country Weekly’s review called special attention to several songs on the album, writing about “the jazzy ‘Bluebonnet Memories’ that show Steve still has full command of [his] Chet-Atkins-bestowed ‘certified guitar player’ status” and “the acoustic ‘48 Ford’ and its sepia-toned memories of time with his dad prove Steve’s still got something to say,” while also praising the title track for “showcasing top-notch guitar work…”

Roughstock.com said, "There's variety on the album but it's all melded together to help It Ain't All Bad feel like the work of a master who is making music for the pure reason that he has to, not because he has contracts or radio station obligations to meet. It Ain't All Bad is a bit of a misnomer because the album is nothing but good. Four and a half stars."

CountryMusicTattleTale.com wrote, "With top-notch songwriting skills and a voice that has the ability to make you feel and believe the lyrics, It Ain’t All Bad showcases Steve as the solid artist that he is. Fans who have been longing to not only hear Steve’s impressive guitar licks, but his story telling and smooth country vocals will be nothing but impressed by this latest venture. It exemplifies why Steve has been a staying power in country music."

Earlier today, Wariner performed two songs from It Ain't All Bad and announced the 2013 CMA Broadcast Award nominees live on www.CMAawards.com. This evening, the ACM Award winner will present an award at “The ACM Honors” celebration at The Ryman.

Wariner will appear on “GAC Daily Countdown” tomorrow, Sept. 11, where he will be interviewed by host Suzanne Alexander and perform his song “’48 Ford.” The show airs at 6:00 AM/ET, 12:00 PM/ET, and 4:00 PM/ET on GAC.

Prime Country - Sirius XM Channel 58 will launch a “Steve Wariner Album Release Celebration” on Friday, Sept. 13 and continue through Sunday, Sept. 15. Wariner recently performed a live in-studio performance that will air on Sept. 13 at 6:00 PM/EDT; Sept. 14 at 11:00 AM/EDT and 9:00 PM/EDT; and Sept. 15 at 2 PM/EDT and 11 PM/EDT. During the weekend, Prime Country will also play one song from his new album each hour as well as his classic hits. All songs will feature intros and behind-the-scenes stories from Wariner.

Wariner is featured in the Sept. 16 issue of Country Weekly (on-stands now) as well as a video interview on CountryWeekly.com at http://www.countryweekly.com/videos/studio-steve-wariner.  Additional interviews with Wariner can be found at Billboard.com, GuitarWorld.com, and the current issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine, among other media outlets. The next issue of Maverick Magazine, out at the end of September, will also feature a story.

Wariner will perform at the Grand Ole Opry this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13-14, at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. After the performances on both nights, he will sign copies of It Ain’t All Bad in the Opry Shop. Attendees must have a ticket for the Grand Ole Opry performance that night in order to participate in the autograph signing. He will also perform a sold-out show at the historic Franklin Theatre in Franklin, Tenn. on Friday, Sept. 20.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – July 15, 2013 – Country music singer/songwriter Steve Wariner will release his new album, It Ain’t All Bad, on Tuesday, Sept. 10. This is his first non-instrumental album in more than eight years, and he produced the album and wrote or co-wrote all 12 songs. Wariner will release the album on his own label, SelecTone Records, and it will be distributed by Allegro Distribution, a division of the Allegro Media Group.

“I am excited to introduce these new songs to my fans,” said Wariner. “My friends and I have written these songs over the last few years, and I’ve been saving them for this project. I’ve had fans come up and ask me when I was going to do another album with vocals on it. I didn’t mean to take an eight-year break from singing on an album. I just had such a blast making my guitar tribute to Chet Atkins, so I followed it up with another instrumental album. Now I’ve got to remind folks that I still sing,” he said with a laugh.

Wariner's co-writers on this album are Al Anderson, Bill Anderson, Kent Blazy, Rick Carnes, Rockie Lynne, Rob McNelley, Karyn Rochelle, Jim Rushing, Mike Severs, Allen Shamblin and Tom Shapiro.

Wariner has placed 14 songs at No. 1 on the country charts: “Holes in the Floor of Heaven” (which won both the CMA Single and Song of the Year Awards and the ACM Song of the Year Award), “Tips of My Fingers,” “The Weekend,” “Life’s Highway,” “I Got Dreams,” “The Domino Theory,” “Some Fools Never Learn,” “You Can Dream of Me,” “Small Town Girl,” “Lynda,” “Where Did I Go Wrong,” “All Roads Lead to You,” “I Should Be with You,” and “What If I Said” (Duet with Anita Cochran).
