RANDALL KING’S “YOU IN A HONKY TONK” VIDEO DESTINATION: NEON COUNTRY

Hard-Touring Texas Troubadour Flies Two Stepping TikToking Fans to Town
and Brings Viral Dance to Video Set

Filmed at Cahoots Dancehall & Honkytonk,
Home to King’s First Headlining Show in State of Tennessee

Warner Music Nashville artist and Amarillo, Texas native Randall King has a knack for creating tunes that you can tap your feet to, and as fan-favorite “You In A Honky Tonk” off 2022’s Shot Glass gets a video treatment, it also brings a new two-step to one of middle Tennessee’s last remaining true honky tonks.

“In West Texas, if you don’t keep ‘em on the dance floor you aren’t doing your job,” King speaks of his early days playing for tips and growing his touring base. “When I booked my first headlining gig in Tennessee, I couldn’t believe we pre-sold-out Cahoots Dancehall & Honkytonk. It’s kinda become a tradition to bring these songs to life there just like I remember that first night on their stage. First with our ‘Record High’ music video, and now, with a song named ‘You In A Honky Tonk,’ you have to go to a real honkytonk for the video.”

Claiming a MusicRow DisCovery Award upon its release, critic Robert Oermann states, “this dude is a for-real country singer, and this rhythm-happy Texas honky tonker stakes a for-real claim to stardom,” while Rolling Stone remarks, “King sings it with delicious gusto, curling his voice around notes in impressive — but not flashy ways — and demonstrating why he’s a talented newcomer to watch.” And King’s music has even Saving Country Music opining, “nobody is more traditional when it comes to new mainstream country than Randall King,” and the UK’s Holler noting ahead of his performance at C2C Festival this year, “there’s an old-fashioned sensitivity and a likeable softness to King’s particular brand of cowboy masculinity.”

Written by John King, Matt Rogers and Brandon Day, the Bart Butler and Ryan Gore-produced “You In A Honky Tonk” music video was brought to life by director Brooke Greenberg after already amassing millions of listens (and spawning tens of thousands of videos) thanks in large part to user LonestarTequilaBar’s original thigh-grabbin’ new line dance. “Naturally when it came time to shoot the music video, we had to have the ‘You In A Honky Tonk Two Step’ featured,” King boasts, “and who better to star in this than the ones who made it famous!” See King with the duo behind the scenes of the shoot HERE.

With a hefty tour schedule spanning from Montana to the Carolinas and every state in between, visit randallking.com to find a show close to you and see King under the neon for yourself.

TEXAS NATIVE AND VETERAN COUNTRY MUSIC ENTERTAINER GEORGE DEARBORNE SET TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE, “OLD BROWN BOTTLE”

#NEWSINGLE #COMINGSOON

Original Tune, Poised To Become Country Classic,
Available Via All Digital And Streaming Outlets--Friday, September 14, 2020

Country music entertainer and Texas native, George Dearborne (REG Records) is set to release his first Nashville recording, “Old Brown Bottle,”* in mid-September. Written by Jimmy Ritchey (George Strait/Mark Chesnutt/Jake Owen), Donald Poythress (Big Loud Shirt, Nashville) and GMA Dove Award Winner Tony Wood, and produced by Ritchey (Jake Owen/ Mark Chesnutt/Clay Walker), the track will be available Friday, September 14, 2020 via all major digital retail and streaming outlets (Amazon/iTunes/Pandora/ Spotify/Tidal). The tune is the title track and the early introduction to the Texan’s forthcoming album, OLD BROWN BOTTLE.

Tickling ivories do-si-do with rockin’ electric guitars to disguise the heartbreak storyline in this good-timin’, used-up, drank-up, party’s over, so long, goodbye tune poised to become a country classic and honky-tonk favorite.

YEAH I FEEL LIKE AN OLD BROWN BOTTLE
ROLLIN’ ‘ROUND IN THE BACK OF YOUR TRUCK
IT WAS REAL FUN FOR A WHILE
AND GIRL YOU REALLY DRANK IT UP
THEN NEXT THING I KNEW YOU TOSSED ME OUT THE WINDOW
ONCE YOU HAD ENOUGH
AND I FEEL LIKE AN OLD BROWN BOTTLE
ROLLIN’ ROUND IN THE BACK OF YOUR TRUCK

“’Old Brown Bottle’ is a straight-up break-up song; rather than sappy, the upbeat melody gives the tune a light-hearted twist,” said Dearborne. “The Nashville recording experience is one for the memory books; I’m in awe of the professionalism and mutual respect shared among the fellow musicians and my producer, Jimmy Ritchey.”

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH "THE UNDERDOG": AARON WATSON

ARTIST: Aaron Watson
INTERVIEWER: Charlie Woods
VENUE: Jam in the Valley - Varysburg, NY
DATE: 7/13/19

Follow Charlie on Twitter at @convictcharlie

While at Jam in the Valley in Varysburg, NY on July 13, I had an opportunity to sit down with Aaron Watson, one of my personal favorite artists for the past seven or so year. I've purchased everything he has released since I first began following him (thanks to Adam Drake who is a former radio programmer on Texas Regional Radio and shared "Barbed Wired Halo."). I have watched Aaron's career arc rise and it has been great. I'm so glad I was finally able to sit down with him and ask some questions. He couldn’t have been more gracious.

Charlie: What made you go all in on promotion for “Outta Style” and say this is the one to push hard?

Aaron: I thought it was time to be aggressive from a business standpoint. I wasn’t able to afford it early in my career. I thought it was a reasonable and achievable goal. We also wanted to get radio into an indie artist mindset.

Charlie: Every time I take a look at your tour schedule, it is filled with new areas, new places, and even new countries. Does it feel like to you, in that regard, that the music is growing? (The closest he has been to me is at The Dusty Armadillo, about a 4 hour drive)

Aaron: It has been amazing, the power of the internet, and social media to an indie artist. We couldn’t get on shelves in major outlets like Target, which we now have been able to do. In the last 4 years, we have been to 40 states and also 11 countries. I’m just a salesman selling a song.

Charlie: You wrote all 20 songs on your last album. People don’t realize what a feat that is. Do you prefer to write or co-write?

Aaron: I just love to write. I am always around myself and wherever I go there I am, so I write with me.

Charlie: Does your family sometimes travel with you?

Aaron: From time to time, if it makes sense. They are each involved with their own things and I respect their lives.

Charlie: How many employees are at your own indie owned Big Label Records? Big Label Records was established in 2006 by Aaron and his longtime manager Gino Genaro, and is headed by Tony Morreale.

Aaron: We have two dozen full time employees. In addition, we also have part time and contract labor. In the near future we are signing new acts. We are searching for heart and soul.

Charlie: Can you explain some of the differences between Texas Regional Radio and mainstream country radio?

Aaron: Regional Radio has more freedom and a bit more rebelling. There is a lot of politics on mainstream radio. I have been told for years why we can’t play you on mainstream. It took me 18 years to get our first top ten. I have never been bitter, only thankful. I don’t care if they play my music at 3:00 am or 3:00 pm. I make my music for the fans, first and foremost.

Charlie: My favorite song on the new album is “Blood Brothers.” What was the meaning behind that one? It has a similar feel to “We Shall Be Free” by Garth Brooks.

Aaron: My nephew is African American. I don’t see color when I see him. He is just my nephew. He doesn’t see color either. It is great to see life in that way from a kid’s perspective. That is also why children are such a blessing. It was written from the heart.

Charlie: Jordan Lehning was co-producer on the new album. What drew you to work with him?

Aaron: I liked our conversation and we got along on the phone. His father is a major producer. Jordan did Rodney Crowell’s latest and if he’s good enough for him, he is good enough for me. He is full of fire.

Charlie: What does country music mean to you?

Aaron: It is everything. It is my life, livelihood, my passion, my hobby, and my job. It is what I have to do and what I want to do.

Charlie: What is your current favorite out there now by another artist?

Aaron: I have been listening to Roy Orbison’s son and the Philharmonic Symphony.

NATALIE ROSE CRACKS TOP 15 ON TEXAS REGIONAL RADIO REPORT AND RADIO IS LOVING HER

"My South" Single Continues To Climb In Competition For Airplay Against Some Of The Biggest Artists In The TX Music Scene

"Natalie Rose has a voice that spans all ages, with an energy level and a range that surpasses all expectations, this young lady is one to be heard!"
- Rita Ballou, Morning Show Co-Host, KOKE-FM/Austin, TX

Natalie Rose's latest single, "My South," is proving itself against songs from some of the biggest stars in the Texas music scene and radio programmers are quick to express their strong support for her. Currently the only female inside the Top 15 of the Texas Regional Radio Report, Rose is competing alongside Josh Abbott, Wade Bowen, Pat Green and other major artists in a format with few women artists.

In addition to high praise from Ballou, "My South" and Rose also have garnered strong support from other influential radio programmers, including Austin Daniels of KFTX/Corpus Christi, TX who raves: "Natalie Rose's 'My South' has crisp, clear vocals with a fiery finale that is smoking hot! This young lady is someone to watch, and someone your listeners will identify with...she's 'Real,' she's 'Country,' she's 'Texas'... enough said!"

No stranger to the Texas music scene, over the course of 6 singles, Rose has earned the distinction of being one of the top female vocalists in the marketplace, an honor that she has earned by releasing great songs and maintaining a busy touring schedule. "My South" is the sixth single release from Rose since 2014, with each successive song climbing higher on the charts than the previous one. Rose's last single, "Conformity," peaked at #7.

Texas print and Internet media outlets have also recognized Rose's accomplishments. She is currently the cover feature story in the October/November edition of Texas Life Magazine and recently graced the cover of Action Magazine.

Ken Murray, another well-known Texas radio tastemaker who programs KTTX/KWHI/Brenham, TX, sums it up quite well: "Natalie Rose possesses one of the finest voices in Country music and when she sings about 'My South' she hits the nail on the head."

Includes Emotional Acoustic Bonus Track “Higher Ground,”
Marking One-Year Anniversary Of Hurricane Harvey

Pre-Order Now and Instantly Receive New Music

$1.41 From Each Album Sold Will Benefit Rebuild Texas Fund In Watson’s Home State

Aaron Watson Live at the World’s Biggest Rodeo Show, the “pioneering independent’s” (Cowboys & Indians) 14th album and his first live album in nearly a decade, is set to release on August 24, 2018, marking the one year anniversary of Hurricane Harvey's landfall on the south Texas coast (August 25, 2017). The Category 4 storm caused $125 billion in damage according to the National Hurricane Center and impacted 13 million people in 41 Texas counties. $1.41 from each album sold will benefit the Rebuild Texas Fund, in recognition of the widespread devastation across Watson’s beloved home state. Recorded live in front of 65,000 fans on opening night of the 2017 Rodeo Houston, the album is particularly poignant to the Texas born-and-bred singer/songwriter.

“We had planned on releasing this album in the second half of 2017, but after the storm it just didn’t feel right,” says Watson. “I’ve always wanted my music to do good in the world and it became clear that there was a real opportunity to hold onto this project and release it on the one year anniversary of the hurricane. So much of my home state of Texas was affected. Hopefully by bringing the recovery efforts back to the forefront, it will remind people that there is still so much work left to do. I’m also extremely proud to partner with the Rebuild Texas Fund, which makes sure every dollar goes back into the local communities, and help them raise money by donating a portion of the live album sales.”

The collection contains 13 songs from Aaron’s 18-year career, recorded live at the 2017 Rodeo Houston, and includes the emotional acoustic bonus track, “Higher Ground,” which Aaron wrote as Hurricane Harvey was devastating his home state of Texas.
“I was out of state touring when Harvey hit. I felt helpless being so far away,” shares Watson. “This storm is personal to me. My grandparents lived in, and are buried in, an area that was devastated. Seeing that on the news and the people there struggling to escape, rescue each other and recover was the inspiration for writing the song ‘Higher Ground.’”

“I pray you always be strong

You always be brave

Take heart and hold on for dear life

Wave after wave, after all those tears fall

down, down, down

Come hell or high water

Only love will find you higher ground.”

Fans can pre-order Aaron Watson Live at the World’s Biggest Rodeo Show now and instantly receive acoustic bonus track “Higher Ground.” In addition, tickets are available NOW for a special Houston-area show as Aaron Watson and Gary Allan play on August 24 at the Smart Financial Centre (Sugar Land). Tickets for the all ages event can be found HERE.

Adding to the summertime excitement, Watson’s new single from Vaquero, “Run Wild Horses,” was just named one of Rolling Stone’s 10 Best Country Songs of the Week, and is currently climbing the national radio charts. The video for the self-penned homage to his wife “turns the heat way up” (Taste of Country), premiered with CMT Music last month and has racked up positions on some impressive playlists including Pandora’s New Country Now, Amazon Music’s New In Country, Apple’s Hot Tracks, and Randy Travis' “Diggin’ Up Songs” on Spotify.

RISING RED DIRT ARTIST JAKE FLINT IMPRESSES AT TEXAS REGIONAL RADIO MUSIC AWARDS

"Upon meeting Jake Flint you know you have met a man with something to say. His story and song, which are one in the same, are presented with a sense of realism that comes as no surprise. He stands confident on the stage and delivers one song after another smoothly with a real voice that comes from a real place. On a stage of what was a "new faces" show, Jake was not as new as the title of the show lended you to think, because his craft is far beyond that point with his skill in writing, singing, and playing proving he is seasoned. His personality and delivery is top notch and very accessible to those in front of him. He turned me from an interested listener to a fan. Jake Flint is a great find."

- Carey Dean, 106.9 The Ranch/Corsicana, TX (Seven-time TRRMA award winner for "Medium Market On-Air Personality of the Year")

Rising Red Dirt music singer/songwriter Jake Flint impressed with his performance on the "Future Faces Show" that was part of the recent annual Texas Regional Radio Music Awards (TRRMA).

The Oklahoma performer took the opportunity of the coveted performance slot to sing two of his original songs, "Whole New Kind Of Blue" and his current single, "Cowtown." He also delivered a powerful interpretation of the Leonard Cohen classic, "Hallelujah." In addition, Flint played lead guitar for the other artists on the bill including Clay Hollis, Tanner Sparks, Jade Marie Patek, Bubba T, Robert Ray, Donice Morace and Kenna Danielle.

"I feel really blessed to have been included in the TRRMA 'Future Faces Show' alongside some phenomenal new artists who became new friends," states Flint. "Many thanks to Jade Marie Patek for inviting me to perform with her at the main awards ceremony and especially to Dave Smith for putting on a top of the line event as always. Can't wait to work hard this year and attend again next year!"

Flint has made strong inroads into the Texas/Red Dirt music scene this year since the release of his debut single that has brought attention to him with significant radio airplay and chart action. That coupled with recent inclusions in The Red Dirt Radio Hour, hosted by Red Dirt pioneers, John Cooper and Brad Piccolo of the Red Dirt Rangers, and his upcoming appearance on the Ranch Roadhouse radio show live from the Rockett Café in Rockett, TX, promise to further cement Flint as a contender destined for greater success.

MIKE AND THE MOONPIES SET TO RELEASE ‘STEAK NIGHT AT THE PRAIRIE ROSE, FEBRUARY 2

Listen to new song “Beaches of Biloxi” via Rolling Stone Country

Old-soul honky-tonkers, Mike and the Moonpies, are set to release ‘Steak Night At The Prairie Rose’ on February 2. Coming off the critical success of 2015’s ‘Mockingbird’ and the following year’s jam-packed double-disc ‘Live at WinStar World Casino and Resort,’ their forthcoming and fifth studio album is not only most ambitious effort to date, but it cohesively showcases the Austin-based band’s display of irresistible, good-time spark and spirit of traditional country, classic rock sensibilities and sublime songwriting

Click here to check out the “propulsive” new track ‘Beaches Of Biloxi’ exclusively at Rolling Stone Country.

Recorded at Yellow Dog Studios in Wimberley, Texas, ‘Steak Night at the Prairie Rose’ was produced by Adam Odor and features the stellar musicianship and artistry of frontman/guitarist Mike Harmeier, guitarist Catlin Rutherford, drummer Kyle Ponder, bassist Preston Rhone, steel guitarist Zachary Moulton, and piano, organ and Wurlitzer player John Carbone. It was Odor who recorded, mixed, and mastered their live album, which in turn landed him the gig helming Steak Night. This marks the first time since the Moonpies inception that Harmeier ever felt comfortable handing the reins completely over to someone else. “Adam ended up just killing it on the live record, and I think we immediately knew that we were going to make another one together,” says Harmeier, who had long been an admirer of Odor’s resume both on his own (Cody Canada & The Departed, Jason Boland & The Stragglers) and as an engineer on countless projects by famed producer Lloyd Maines (Joe Ely, Dixie Chicks).

Harmeier notes that the only “concept” he had this time around was to keep the writing “simple” enough to allow the rest of the band room to really go to town. “The only thing I really wanted was for the band to just have fun playing the songs, because I wanted the album to showcase the players on top of the songs that I wrote — just like the live record did.”

“From its inception, ‘Steak Night’ was and is a band album,” notes Odor. “No extra layers, no added studio musicians (except for the genius Mickey Raphael guesting on “The Worst Thing”), no unwarranted overthinking about what is expected. We worked out musical parts and arrangements together, we worked on instrument tones together, and we hit record on the tape machine and played it together. Some of these songs came together in a matter of 2 to 3 takes, others took many, many, different directions before landing on what you hear today. And most importantly, what you’re hearing on this album is what you’ll be seeing at each show, night after night.”

For this release, Harmeier wrote or co-wrote all but one of the album’s ten songs (the exception being “The Last Time” by friend Jonathan Terrell). Highlights include album opener “Road Crew,” which kicks things off at Highway Patrol-baiting speed powered by the twin-engine roar of electric twang and runaway pedal steel, and the sweepingly melodic gambler’s lament,

“I love that country music era coming out of the outlaw thing and going into the more ‘contemporary country stuff,’ where the production starting getting a little bit more poppy but was still kind of dirty,” Harmeier explains. “For me, that’s when things started to get really interesting musically, and I think this whole record kind of has that ’80s thing to it — probably because there’s so much Wurlitzer all over it.” There’s also a whopping dose of twin electric/steel leads, a little Talk Box a hint of Willie-worthy harmonica (courtesy of guest Mickey Raphael on the waltz “Worst Thing”), and a whole lot of humor, ranging from the nudge-nudge-wink-winkery of “Might Be Wrong” to the barbed-wire irony of “Wedding Band.”

The album’s earnest title track plays like an early chapter from Harmeier’s autobiography, this one going all the way back to his very first time playing music onstage in front of an audience at age 13.

Mike and the Moonpies will be burning up stages throughout 2018 kicking off the year with multiple shows at The MusicFest at Steamboat in Steamboat Springs, CO in January. Stay tuned for tour announcements.

In other news, Mike and the Moonpies were just featured on acclaimed singer-songwriter/producer Bruce Robison’s new web series The Next Waltz. The band sat down to chat with Robison and perform poignant renditions of Rusty Wier’s “Outlaw Love” and “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance (posting on November 23).” Watch and follow here.

Fans can Pre-Order ‘Steak Night at the Prairie Rose’ starting November 24.

SHANE SMITH & THE SAINTS BRING “AWE-INDUCING HARMONIES AND STELLAR MUSICIANSHIP” ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND BEYOND IN 2017
NEW DATES INCLUDE STOPS IN DENVER, NEW ORLEANS, ATLANTA, MALAYSIA

“Take the Americana and folk-esque instrumentation of a band such as The Avett Brothers and the harmonies of the Zac Brown Band, put them together with a Bruce Springsteen-like voice and the lyrical sensibilities of Bob Dylan, and then throw in a bit of Celtic rock a la the Dropkick Murphys, and you’ll wind up with something along the lines of Shane Smith & the Saints”  - THE BOOT

Texas troubadours Shane Smith & The Saints have confirmed new tour dates for 2017.

This year’s schedule is their most ambitious to date as they crisscross the country and beyond headlining major markets including New Orleans, Atlanta, Denver and more. In addition, the band will play two shows abroad in Malaysia including the Miri Country Music Fest.  Combining elements of rock, Cajun folk, Celtic/Irish and Americana with their “awe-inducing harmonies and stellar musicianship” (No Depression), Shane Smith & The Saints kicked off the tour at The MusicFest in Steamboat Springs, CO on January 5.

2016 proved to be a fantastic year for Shane Smith & The Saints as they continue to maintain momentum from the release of their sophomore album, ‘Geronimo.’ The band made their major festival debut in their hometown at Austin City Limits Festival and continued on the circuit playing to major crowds at Texas Mardi Gras Fest, Rio Frio Fest, Larry Joe Taylor’s Texas Music Fest and Lone Star Jam. The band shared the stage with a plethora of artists including Ryan Bingham, Eli Young Band, ZZ Top, Turnpike Troubadours, Shakey Graves, Lynrd Skynrd and more.

Shane Smith & The Saints’ current single, “Runaway Train” continues to climb the TRRR (Texas Regional Radio Report) chart with a bullet. You can give it a listen here and watch an acoustic session here.

"RED DIRT LEGEND" BRANDON JENKINS TO PLAY SONGS FROM "NEW BLUE BANDANA" IN NASHVILLE

With his new album, Blue Bandana, Brandon Jenkins discarded the normal trappings that come along with a label based album, taking the responsibility himself and releasing it on his newly formed Red Dirt Legend imprint. For the 13th album of his recording career, Jenkins laid down tracks and mixed with his longtime producer Dave Percefull at his Yellow Dog studio in Wimberley over a two-day period.

Jenkins will showcase several songs from Blue Bandana when he appears in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:00 p.m. at Acme Feed & Seed, located at 101 Broadway. For information, call (615) 915-0888, or visit http://theacmenashville.com/calendar/brandon-jenkins

Blue Bandana is comprised of raw, unfiltered tracks and mixes that reflect Jenkins’ unflinching songs and signature vocal, leaving the scars not many artists are prepared to expose when recording. The final product is perhaps his finest to date and gives his fans and newly exposed listeners a unique experience of hearing an album that has been recorded with a live performance attitude capturing the emotion of the artist in his unrestrained creative nature with the flaws and mistakes others try to hide.

Known as the “Red Dirt Legend” by his fans and the Red Dirt / Texas Music community, Jenkins is known for his unique songwriting style and musicianship. Throughout his 20 + year music career he has been a mainstay on festival and listening rooms stages throughout the US and Europe, had multiple hits on the influential Texas Music Radio Charts and written hits for others.

Beginning his career as a fresh-faced kid in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1994 to being the bearded, tattooed man currently residing Austin, Texas, Jenkins has never strayed from writing and singing songs filled with honesty, soul, emotion, and never shied away from facing his own demons when composing songs for himself and others.

Penning Red Dirt classics like the hard edged “Finger On The Trigger” to one of the most played and requested love songs “My Feet Don’t Touch The Ground” are testimonies to his diverse songwriting capabilities and recorded performances.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 29, 2015 – When acclaimed country singer and songwriter Sunny Sweeney was invited by The Washington Times to perform at their private event for Wounded Warriors’ caregivers and attend The White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner as a guest of The Washington Times, Sweeney swiftly obliged.  An avid supporter of the armed forces and wife of an Austin Police Department sergeant, Sweeney was honored to have the opportunity to thank those servicemen and women who serve as well as their caregivers.

On Friday, April 24, the ACM New Artist of the Year nominee performed songs including her recent Texas chart-topping single “Bad Girl Phase,” as well as her current heart-wrenching ballad “My Bed,” which is currently No. 3 and No. 6 on the Texas Regional Chart and Texas Music Chart respectively, among others. After performing, Sweeney met with Wounded Warriors’ caregivers and veterans to thank them for their support. The Times partnered with the Freedom Alliance, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, Mission BBQ and The Washington Redskins Salute program for the private event for veterans.

The following evening, Sweeney attended the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, commonly known as the “nerd prom” as The Washington Times’ guest. Sweeney wore a gown by Jovani.

“It was an honor and a career highlight to be able to go to such a once in a lifetime event and I cannot thank The Washington Times enough for including me,” Sweeney expressed.

The weekend of events in the nation’s capital was a very moving one for Sweeney. Having recently performed at the CPAC and NRA conventions, Sweeney strives to be an involved citizen and patriot throughout the country. Sweeney places great value on those who serve, and those who care for the country’s service men and women; Sweeney’s family stems from a long line of relatives who have served in various branches of the military, including her husband’s service in the US Air Force.

Sweeney, who most recently toured with Miranda Lambert, is set to play Love City Country Music Festival in the U.S. Virgin Islands on May 16 as well as the Bud Light Plaza Stage during CMA Fest in Nashville, Tenn. For a full list of tour dates, visit www.sunnysweeney.com.

SUNNY SWEENEY TOPS THE TEXAS MUSIC CHART

PRESS RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 – For the first time in over ten years, there is a female taking the top spot of the Texas Music Chart thanks to Sunny Sweeney’s edgy single “Bad Girl Phase.” Co-written by 2014 CMA songwriter nominee Brandy Clark, the fierce single reminds listeners that if men can party, women sure can too.

“Bad Girl Phase” is just one of many hits off of Sweeney’s new album Provoked that NPR says “tells her story, a chronicle of divorce, despair and finding happiness in new love.” Produced by Luke Wooten and released in partnership with Thirty Tigers, Provoked is a collection of songs that prove the hardships Sweeney has endured haven't “dampened her spirit in any way.”

According to Best In Texas, Sweeny is the first solo female artist to reach No. 1 since Stephanie Urbina Jones’ single “Shakin’ Things Up” which reached the top of the Texas Music Chart in May 2003. "I had my first gig in 2004," notes Sweeney. "I have been working towards this moment for a long, long time and I'm so grateful for my home state's constant support."

In addition to the critical acclaim that her third studio album continues to receive, Sweeney is also gearing up for her recently announced upcoming tour dates. Sweeney, along with fellow powerhouse women, RaeLynn, Ashley Monroe and Danielle Bradbery will be opening for select dates on Miranda Lambert’s upcoming Certified Platinum Tour which kicks off in January 2015.

Sweeney recently made headlines when she appeared on the other side of the lens and captured an exchange with a member of our military and the post--again showing Sweeney's ability to capture a moment in time whether it be in lyrics or sentiment--has generated more than 63 million views as we head toward Veteran's Day, which also happens to be Sweeney's wedding anniversary.

For more information, visit SunnySweeney.com or follow her on Twitter and Instagram @GettinSweenered and on Facebook @OfficialSunnySweeney.

INTRODUCING OUR MARCH FEATURE ARTIST: THE CODY JOHNSON BAND

So, a couple of weeks ago, I was browsing through iTunes as I usually do, looking for new music that gets my blood pumping, something different, something you won't hear on every other mainstream station, something that didn't just come right off the Nashville country music conveyor belt ready for packaging. I happened to stumble across The Cody Johnson Band from Texas and really liked their sound.

I bought their cd and had been listening to it for awhile and got an email from my friend, Rita Ballou, from KOKE FM in Austin. Rita is the infamous "tell it like it is, virtual middle finger to the same old stale country music" blogger known as "Rawhide and Velvet". She told me I should check out CJB, that she thought they'd be something I would like and I was already in total agreement.  There is nothing "bro-country", "bubblegum", or pop about these guys, they ARE Texas country and they represent well. Check them out, I think you might like them!

In an time of synthetics and plastics, folks appreciate the real thing. Musically, we look for songs that reach beyond our eardrums, touching our hearts. Cody Johnson's unique blend of Country and Rock does just that.

Many Texas Music fans met Cody Johnson’s honest style through the radio singles from his Six Strings, One Dream album: "Nobody to Blame" (#6 on the Texas music charts in 2009);  #1"Pray for Rain" (2009 - 2010); and "Texas Kind of Way" (#6, late 2010 – 2011) ... Click here to read more about Cody.
