TRACY LAWRENCE RAISES $63,000 FOR NASHVILLE RESCUE MISSION WITH TURKEY FRY

Stars join ‘Honky Tonkin’ with Tracy Lawrence’ host for first concert in history of 10th annual event; Lawrence helps NRM find guitar for homeless man

L To R: Steve Emley (Fitzgerald-Hartley), Cheryl Davis (Sr. Director of Devlopement at NRM), Tracy Lawrence, Chuck Pursel (Lawrence's Tour Manager), Rev. Glenn Cranfield (President/CEO at NRM), Patrick Thomas (Silverfish

Tracy Lawrence and a group of celebrity friends raised more than $63,000 for the Nashville Rescue Mission at the 10th Annual Mission: Possible Turkey Fry in November, continuing the country music star’s personal mission to help those in need.

“Growing up for me, having a good meal commemorating the Thanksgiving holiday meant more than just satisfying your appetite,” Lawrence said. “It signified a time to reflect, count our blessings and share what we're thankful for, so to have an opportunity to feed those in our area while helping them feel that sense of pride for feeding their families, well there's no better feeling. Over the years this event has grown, and every year I am even more thankful to those who come together to make this such a success.”

The “Honky Tonkin’ with Tracy Lawrence” national syndicated radio host’s yearly event has provided more than 75,000 meals to those in need in its decade-long history. The event has grown over the years and the 2015 installment, held Nov. 24 at the Nashville Rescue Mission, included Lawrence’s first concert at City Winery with performances by Charlie Daniels, Halfway to Hazard, Lorrie Morgan, Darryl Worley and Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down.

Members of Nashville’s music and sports communities also attended, including Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry, Terri Clark, Lee Greenwood and Jake Clayton, Tennessee Titans Coty Sensabaugh and Brian Arakpo along with the team’s cheerleaders, and the Nashville Predators mascot Gnash.

Lawrence returned to the Mission last week to present Martin Ollenberger with a left-handed guitar from Taylor Guitars. Ollenberger, who lost his job and fell into homelessness because of health difficulties, is the face of the NRM this holiday season, starring in a commercial for the mission. Learn more about his story and the mission here.

Lawrence also auctioned off one of his guitars signed by the artist, Daniels, Vince Gill, Halfway to Hazard, Randy Houser, Morgan, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler and Chris Young, earning $10,000.

Lawrence, the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music award-winning artist, is best known as a hitmaker with nearly two dozen hits, 13 million albums sold and many memorable shows, a legacy he shares through dozens of live appearances every year. Now Lawrence also brings a lifetime of stories and experiences to radio listeners on “Honky Tonkin’ with Tracy Lawrence,” picked up by dozens of stations across the nation this year, including Nashville’s WSM. The show focuses on hits of the 1980s, ‘90s and early 2000s with special guests and interviews every week.

There is always something to be grateful for. Thanks to Nick, Krista Marie and Damien for such a wonderful song, a meaningful song, a song that should make anyone that listens learn to be more grateful.

Finn leads the way in a dapper top hat and shades as the parade’s grand marshal. Xtreme uses pencils to “stilt walk” down the route while Brooke drives the wind up car which tows Gilbert on his float made of buttons, caps and a whistle. The march comes to life as it seemingly jumps out of a New York City pop-up book.

The Goldfish characters’ vision wouldn’t be complete without a balloon, and so Finn & Friends have transformed a classic toy balloon into a flying wonder. On board for the Turkey Day fun is Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy singing “That’s What Christmas Means To Me.”

A Thanksgiving Wish

It's almost Thanksgiving and many of you are already on the road to wherever your holiday destination lies to spend time with those most important to you or you've chosen to spend the time at home. I wish for each of you a safe journey, the best of times with those you love, and the reminder that this is the time to give thanks for what who and what you have in your life and to appreciate. It's more than time off of work, lots of food and football, it's a time to love and time to be grateful. Happy Thanksgiving wishes, gratitude and love to all of you.

I'd like to just take a minute to say thank you the following people:

1.) To everyone who takes the time out of their day to read this site, keep up with these amazing artists. Thank you for your support of Lovin' Lyrics and on behalf of the artists we promote.

2.) The songwriters/musicians/singers who have chosen to share their talents with us and make such a valuable contribution to our everyday lives by giving us their emotions, thoughts and lifetime stories in the form of music, the language we all understand and the one thing that can bring people together. Without you, life would be alot different and certainly alot less colorful.

3.) The publicists and promoters who care enough to make sure these artists get heard. These guys work behind the scenes and rarely get the recognition they deserve. While you think they're the background, they're really the front runners for the music industry when it comes to bringing good music to you and they work tirelessly at it. Thank you for everything you've done to help me be able to spread the word about your artists to people who might not otherwise have heard. It takes a village to move a mountain.
