PRESS RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Due to stadium security policies aimed at enhancing public safety, AT&T Stadium limits the size and style of bags allowed inside the 100,000-seat capacity venue.

According to the policy, prohibited items include, but are not limited to: All purses, bags or containers larger than a small, single-compartment clutch purse; backpacks; binocular cases (binoculars may be worn around the neck); briefcases; camera bags; cinch bags; computer bags; coolers; diaper bags; fanny packs; luggage of any kind and seat cushions.

Approved bags include clear totes that are plastic, vinyl or PVS and do not exceed 12-by-6-by-12 inches in dimension; re-sealable, clear, plastic storage bags up to one gallon in size; and small clutch purses that are approximately the size of a hand. LUBBOCK, Texas – Friday night, January 18, 2013, the King of Country Music, George Strait, kicked-off the first of 21 tour stops on his 2013 The Cowboy Rides Away Tour in Lubbock, Texas at United Spirit Arena with special guest Martina McBride.  An audience of 15,326 was afforded what will soon be a rare occurrence--seeing Strait and his Ace In The Hole Band live in concert.

The evening began for many with a VIP reception in the aptly named “The King’s Tavern” which features multiple traveling memorabilia cases on display as part of “The King’s Exhibit” with featured items ranging from Dusty Chandler’s jacket, Strait's lead character in Pure Country, to his Country Music Hall of Fame medallion from his November 2006 induction.

After a riveting set from McBride (full set list below), Strait sauntered to the stage and opened his nearly 100 minute set with his 2011 anthem and the title of his last recording, “Here For A Good Time.”

Partway through the show Strait broke stride after he performed his current single, "Give It All We Got Tonight,” and introduced U.S. Marine Corps E-3/Lance Corporal Christopher Allen to a captivated audience.  Allen was then recognized as the 287th recipient of the Military Warriors Support Foundation’s (MWSF) “Homes 4 Wounded Heroes” (H4WH) program and the first awardee to receive a key directly from Strait.  The presentation was made possible through Strait’s longtime friend, Lieutenant General Leroy Sisco, U.S. Army (Retired) who shares, “Our foundation is thrilled at this opportunity to work with such an incredible patriot as George Strait and with his help we are going to change the lives of the heroes and their families by awarding 100% mortgage-free homes at the next 20 concerts on George’s ‘The Cowboy Rides Away’ finale tour.”

KING GEORGE GRACES DECEMBER COVER OF PEOPLE COUNTRY

In First Interview in Over Five Years, George Strait Counts his Blessings and Reveals Plans After “The Cowboy Rides Away” Tour

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Tuesday, October 30, 2012) – It’s been five years since country music fans have heard from King George Strait in an exclusive interview, but as he announced his final trek on The Cowboy Rides Away Tour, he sat down with People Country to reveal plans for another album after his touring ends, and those things in his life he’s most thankful for. “I’ve got great fans,” he says. “Some of them have been coming out since the 80s, and that means so much to me. They have been so loyal.”

Strait describes the sleepless nights that led up to his final decision to make this his final tour, “I had second thoughts about it, and third thoughts. Walking up on stage is still so much fun for me. Such a thrill… there’s nothing like it. I’ll miss that.” He also talks about the journey to selling over 65 million albums and experiencing 59 No. 1 hits. “I’ve been blessed with the ability to sing, and that has taken me so many places I never would have gone otherwise. I’ve had great people around me from the beginning … and they never tried to make me someone I wasn’t.”

Pick up a copy of the issue on stands this Friday, Nov. 2.

GEORGE STRAIT ANNOUNCES THE COWBOY RIDES AWAY TOUR

21 Dates Announced for 2013; Tickets on sale October 12

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  Musical icon George Strait announced his plans for his final two-year tour – The Cowboy Rides Away Tour.  In a press conference live from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Strait revealed the first 21 markets he will visit during the winter and spring legs of his 2013 tour.  Special guest Martina McBride is set to join Strait for the 2013 dates, which begin on January 18 in Lubbock, Texas.

Strait, who celebrated his 60th birthday earlier this year, shared, “This is going to be a very special, emotional tour for me. Everywhere we’re going holds fond memories and I’m looking forward to paying my respects.”  Strait plans to continue recording new music and play select dates around the country following the completion of the tour.

The Cowboy Rides Away Tour will offer fans a final opportunity to take in Strait’s live show filled with hits from throughout his remarkable career.

Strait has thus far yielded 59 No. 1 songs, has earned more than 60 major industry awards, and has sold over 65 million albums.  He is the only artist in music history to achieve at least one Top Ten hit each year during his 30-year career and was only the second artist at the time (after Eddy Arnold in 1966) to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame (2006) while still actively recording and producing chart topping hits and albums.

One of the most spectacular voices in any genre of music, McBride has sold more than 18 million albums and has garnered six No. 1 singles. She is the “most played female artist on country radio for the past 11 years,” according to both Mediabase and Broadcast Data Systems (BDS). The breadth of her talents – as recording artist, producer, songwriter, and concert entertainer – has made her an in-demand performer and personality. Among her hits are such empowering songs as "Independence Day," "This One's for the Girls," and "A Broken Wing," all of which have underscored her incredible popularity as one of music's preeminent female vocalists.

George Strait fan club members will have an opportunity to purchase tickets beginning at 10 a.m. in the venue’s respective time zone on Oct. 9, 2012, and tickets available to the general public will be available for purchase beginning Oct. 12 (same time zone restraints apply). Ticket prices start at $69.50 and may be purchased at www.georgestrait.com. Check the site and see if he's coming to your area!
