ALABAMA TO RECEIVE “GREATEST HITS” AWARD AND PERFORM ON “AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS” MONDAY, DECEMBER 5, ON FOX

AMERICAN IDOL SCOTTY MCCREERY ALSO SET TO PERFORM

Josh Turner, Jordin Sparks, The Big Show, The JaneDear Girls, Bill Engvall,
Larry Mahan and Rodney Carrington Scheduled To Appear

Voting for Artist of the Year Continues at www.theacas.com Until Friday, December 2

Legendary country music group Alabama has been tapped to receive the Greatest Hits Award at the AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS, airing live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Monday, Dec. 5 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. The veteran band, which gave its farewell tour in 2003, also will perform during the broadcast. Additionally, AMERICAN IDOL winner Scotty McCreery has been added to the list of performers for the two-hour primetime special.

The AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS Greatest Hits Award is presented to a country music act that has produced an extensive catalogue of No. 1 hits throughout its career.

As one of country music’s classic groups, Alabama has enjoyed more than 30 years of unprecedented success in the music industry. Consisting of Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook, the group has released 21 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum albums, and 43 No. 1 singles. Other accolades include eight country music "Entertainer of the Year" honors, two Grammys, two People's Choice Awards and their very own star on the "Hollywood Walk of Fame."

Alabama first signed with industry giant RCA back in 1980. The group immediately began taking the country genre in new directions, reaching out to an incredibly diverse fan base, many of whom had never listened to country music. The band's upbringing on country, gospel, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, rock-n-roll and southern rock enabled them to perform everything from Acuff to ZZ Top. Their career sales have topped 73 million records, ranking them as one of the 10 biggest-selling bands in the annals of popular music – ahead of such rock legends as Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Queen, Pink Floyd and The Who. Additionally, Alabama has more No. 1 records than any band in country music history and has sold more concert tickets than any other country group.

The second annual AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS, hosted by Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth, is the only country music awards show that gives fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite artists not only in traditional categories but also in previously unrecognized areas of the business such as touring, encompassing the entire spectrum of country music and bestowing honors that no other awards show has. Co-hosts Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth, along with country music’s Blake Shelton, Pistol Annies, Thompson Square, Eli Young Band and The Band Perry are set to perform. The special will also include appearances by Josh Turner, Jordin Sparks, The Big Show, The JaneDear Girls, Bill Engvall, Larry Mahan and Rodney Carrington. Previously announced participants include Lauren Alaina, Rachel Bilson, Miranda Lambert, Scotty McCreery and the men of “Pawn Stars” (Richard Harrison, Rick Harrison, Corey Harrison and Austin Russell).

AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS is executive-produced by Bob Bain (TEEN CHOICE 2011, “Kids’ Choice Awards”). Fletcher Foster, Paul Flattery and Tisha Fein serve as producers; and Greg Sills is supervising producer. Michael Dempsey will direct the special.

Visit www.theacas.com for the complete list of categories and nominees.

Country Goes ‘Thriller’? JaneDear Girls Get Zombie-fied

Posted Thu Nov 3, 2011 11:05am PDT by Wendy Geller in Our Country
Source: Our Country, The Yahoo Ram Country Music Blog

Halloween 2011 is over and done--we've eaten all the candy and looking forward to Thanksgiving by now, right? However, here's a little extra treat left over from the holiday for you to enjoy.

The JaneDear Girls played a show on Halloween night at Raleigh, NC's City Limits Saloon. Fans of the sassy vocal duo know that the Girls enjoy dressing to the nines on a regular basis--so, of course, the pair went all out for Halloween, choosing cute/spooky costumes for their stage appearance.

However, they didn't stop with just wigs and makeup. Instead of launching straight into some butt-kicking country, the Girls--and their entire band--treated the audience to the Vincent Price rap from Michael Jackson's classic "Thriller." Oh, and they didn't stop there, either. Check out their rendition of the famous zombie dance from Jackson's equally classic video.

Pretty dang cute, no? (Kudos to the guy in the diaper, as well. Now that took some guts.)

The JaneDear Girls followed their zombie routine by "rising from the dead" and kicking into their decidedly live-ly single "Merry Go Round." Whosoever shall be found, without the soul for getting down? Not this band!

The JaneDear Girls will be appearing at a few select dates in November; you can keep up with their event schedule here.

*EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS* - WQDR HOWL-O-WEEN BASH FEATURING THE JANE DEAR GIRLS, THE LOST TRAILERS, BRADLEY GASKIN AND PHIL VASSAR - CITY LIMITS RALEIGH, NC 10/29/11

Concert: WQDR Howl-O-Ween Bash at City Limits Saloon
Date: 10/29/11
Artists: The JaneDear Girls, The Lost Trailers, Bradley Gaskin, Phil Vassar
Venue: City Limits Saloon Raleigh, NC

Unfortunately myself (Jennifer), who writes up the concert reviews and Anthony, our professional photographer, were unable to attend this show due to unforeseen circumstances (Jenn) and a previously scheduled out of town sporting event shoot (Anthony). Ingrid, our "videographer/livestreamer/alternate photographer", was in attendance for some of sound check and the majority of the concert. She did miss Bradley Gaskin so we were not able to secure any photos or video of his performance or soundcheck. Lovin' Lyrics also had some local friends that attended who were kind enough to get some comments from the audience about who they were excited to see, why and who they thought was the best performance of the night. Here's what they had to say. Looks like The JaneDear Girls were the hit of the night! We only got a few audience comments but from what I hear, the entire show was outstanding and not one of the artists disappointed anyone! Apparently City Limits itself was just as big a hit with the crowd as the show itself. LOL!

Thanks to Joe, Sarah, and Dani for taking the time to get these comments around the crowd:

BEFORE THE SHOW: Which Artist Do You Want to See The Most and Why?

Larry from Raleigh: "Definitely the JaneDear Girls, are you kidding me? The hot dark haired girl gives Charlie Daniels a run for his money. That girl can bend a fiddle like nobody's business. By the way, WOOO HOO City Limits, you rock! Best bar in town!"

Sharon from Holly Springs: "Phil Vassar, yeah I have to say Phil Vassar. Have you seen that butt in those jeans? The man screams sexy and screams it out loud. I couldn't tell you the names of his songs, but that doesn't matter because the man is fine."

Ronald from Raleigh: "The JaneDear Girls, especially in whatever costumes they're gonna be wearing. The girls can sing, play some kick ass music and look gorgeous at the same time. They are the total package for me, actually a double package since there's 2 of them. Ha! My wife laughs at me everytime I bust out "Wildflower" because, well look at me, I'm short, fat and bald with tattoos. Do I look like I should be singing about being a wildflower growing in the sunshine? I'm glad WQDR was able to book them for this show and I love this bar!"

JoAnne from Cary: "The Lost Trailers. I loved "Holler Back" and I've heard a sneak peek of that new one they have coming out, I think it's called "Underdog" or something like that. Only heard it once, but it's a good one. I met them at CMA Fest in Nashville and they're great guys, very friendly and just good guys. Thanks City Limits for always having the best bands! So glad I heard about you guys so I can quit going to the Longbranch, they NEVER have good music."

AFTER THE SHOW: Who Gave the Best Performance Tonight?

Johnny from Ft. Bragg: "The JaneDear Girls KICKED ASS! I didn't know who they were before tonight, don't really get to spend much time listening to music when you're in Afghanistan, but they definitely made a fan out of me. I know who they are now. Man that chick can play the fiddle, makes Charlie Daniels look like a beginner! Shhh, don't tell Charlie I said that. The blonde girl is absolutely beautiful, kinda reminded me of Nancy Wilson of Heart with her guitar playing. You don't see many women playing guitar. I wish they'd come play out at Ft. Bragg for one of the shows that Craig Morgan does out there. They'd be a great opening act. They were GREAT, by far the best of the acts tonight."

Steven from Fuquay-Varina: "Gotta go with the Lost Trailers, holy s**t they were good. I just love good rockin' country and they rocked the s**t out of it tonight. Great show! Bring them back again City Limits!"

Suzanne from Raleigh: "I loved the JaneDear Girls! I was so excited to see them play tonight. Loved "Wildflower" when it was big, then that other one, I think it was "Shotgun Girl"? They are just freakin' great! I am in love with "Merry Go Round". I'm hitting Walmart tomorrow and picking up that cd for sure!"

CD Review: "The Jane Dear Girls" - The Jane Dear Girls

CD: The Jane Dear Girls
Artist: The Jane Dear Girls
Release Date: Feb. 1, 2011
Label: Reprise

I gotta start this review out with 2 words, Thank God!

The Jane Dear Girls are a breath of fresh, clean air in the current world of female country artists. Everyone’s trying to be like everyone else, with the exclusion of a handful of artists, but not The Jane Dear Girls. They're reminiscent of Taylor Swift in style but definitely different, both in image and sound, unique and are true to who they are. Their cd is no different. You won’t find twangy, “Woe is me, wah my boyfriend left me, let me tell y'all all about it” music here. These girls are strong and it shows in their music.

The campy and charming lead in single, "Wildflower", took the charts by storm and made a name for this pair. Listeners love it's infectious tone and it's catchy lyrics. The rest of the cd is just as bold and adventurous. Now don't think every song on the cd is gonna have you up and dancing, it also showcases the duo's slow and delicate vocal abilities with melodies like "Saturdays in September" and "Never Gonna Let You Go".

Susie Brown and Danelle Leverett have done it right. The Jane Dear Girls are on the country music map and this is a destination I'll definitely come back to. Way to go girls on a great cd. Now, stop reading this and go buy it!

You can find the cd on iTunes, Amazon and in stores starting today, February 1, 2011. Seriously, stop reading and get it now!
