GRAMMY-NOMINATED THOMPSON SQUARE TO PERFORM BENEFIT CONCERT TO RAISE MONEY FOR RARE GENETIC DISORDER

MAY 6 CONCERT WILL BENEFIT THE CHILDREN’S TUMOR FOUNDATION

On Monday, May 6, 2019, GRAMMY-nominated, MULTI-PLATINUM Country duo THOMPSON SQUARE will perform A Night of Hope: A Concert to End NF at the Franklin Theatre in Franklin, TN, to raise awareness and money for neurofibromatosis. Also known as NF, this rare genetic disorder causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. It affects 1 in 3,000 people of all populations, and there is no cure. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation, the leader in the fight to end NF and a model for innovative research endeavors.

Thompson Square is comprised of husband-and-wife team, Keifer and Shawna Thompson. Since breaking out in 2010 with their 2X-PLATINUM #1 smash “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” the pair have gone on to score two Top 5 albums and another romantic #1 hit with PLATINUM-certified “If I Didn’t Have You,” while also racking up multiple GRAMMY nominations and three trophies as Vocal Duo of the Year from the ACM and CMA Awards. Thompson Square’s third studio album, MASTERPIECE, is out now.

“We’re honored to be performing at A Concert to End NF and helping to bring awareness to this devastating disease,” shared Keifer.

Shawna adds, “Family is everything to us, and it means so much to be a part of something that is bringing the community together, making memories and helping raise money for research.”

The benefit concert takes place during NF Awareness Month, a month-long awareness campaign that includes online and offline events designed to educate the community about this under-recognized genetic disorder and bring those living with NF together with their families, friends, the larger community, fundraisers and researchers. As part of the international Shine a Light on NF campaign, the Korean Way Veterans Memorial Bridge (Nashville, TN) will glow blue and green, joining hundreds of landmarks around the world. In prior years, former Governor Haslam has proclaimed the month of May as NF Awareness Month in Tennessee.

“The Children’s Tumor Foundation is thankful that Thompson Square will perform this benefit concert during NF Awareness Month,” said Annette Bakker, PhD, Children’s Tumor Foundation President. “It takes many different ways of raising money and awareness to make an impact and drive research forward, and we’re ecstatic to have the support of Thompson Square.”

Currently there is no cure for NF, but clinicians and scientists are optimistic that with funding for more research, actionable treatment options to improve the lives of the 2.5 million people living with NF will be attainable.

WSMV-TV Features Reporter Terry Bulger will host the evening.

THOMPSON SQUARE HITS FULL THROTTLE WITH "TRANS AM" - HIGHEST ADD DATE OF CAREER WITH 60 FIRST WEEK STATIONS!

NEW SINGLE DEBUTS MOST ADDED AT U.S. COUNTRY RADIO

Multi-Platinum Duo “Revs Up” With New Single in
Six-Page COUNTRY WEEKLY feature

NASHVILLE, TN – Thompson Square returned to Country Radio at full throttle today when new single “Trans Am” earned the multi-platinum duo the highest debut add week of it’s career. The turbo-charged new single debuted with 66 first-week stations making “Trans Am” the #1 Most Added Country Radio Song in the U.S.

“It feels great to know that our friends at Country radio are still with us after all these years, are still excited about our music, and are embracing the new evolution of Thompson Square,” says Keifer Thompson about the outstanding support for “Trans Am.”

After spending the last few months in the studio with legendary producer/musician Dann Huff (Faith Hill/ Rascal Flatts), the award-winning Stoney Creek Records duo has emerged with a crisp, new sound chock full of fire, attitude and sexy, arena rock-driven beats.

“Trans AM” showcases a grittier, fun-loving side of the married duo. The song captures the brazen passion and energy of Thompson Square’s live shows, something fans have long since celebrated.

That same fun-loving side is profiled in a six-page spread featured in the April 20th issue of Country Weekly, on stands now. Keifer and Shawna Thompson show off some of their favorite rides from their personal collection – from Keifer’s 2008 Victory Vegas to the couple’s revamped, custom 1971 Bronco. Of course, the 2013 ACM “Vocal Duo of the Year” also discuss their fondness for the Trans Am and how the “dream machine” inspired not only Thompson Square’s new single, but its upcoming album as well.

“Trans Am” was co-written by Keifer and Shawna Thompson alongside Blair Daly (“Smile” Uncle Kracker) and the world-renown Nathan Chapman, famous for producing Taylor Swift’s first three albums.

Fans can purchase “Trans Am” at digital retailers now: http://smarturl.it/transam

The duo of Keifer and Shawna Thompson are a force to be reckoned with in the modern day Country music landscape. International Country music stars, Thompson Square has topped the radio charts across the Unites States, Canada and Australia with #1 hits “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” “If I Didn’t Have You” and “Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About,” respectively.

After taking its headlining “Just Feels Good Tour” across the U.S., Asia and Australia in 2014, Thompson Square took time off to collaborate in the studio with both Dann Huff and celebrated producer Mickey Jack Cones (Dustin Lynch/ Joe Nichols) to work on the Stoney Creek Records duo’s upcoming third album.

The result is a barefaced, emotionally charged and gutsy sound from the married duo that was honored as both the ACM and CMA “Vocal Duo of the Year” in 2012. Thompson Square continued its streak in 2013, once again securing the ACM Award for “Vocal Duo of the Year.” In all, Thompson Square has scored three #1 hits, six Top 20 hits, seven mainstream industry awards, over 25 award nominations and appeared on major media franchises from The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan, CBS This Morning to Elle, Glamour, People, Rolling Stone, USA Today, USA Weekend and many more.

Thompson Square’s “Trans Am” recently earned the duo the biggest add date of its career. “Trans Am” is the lead single from Thompson Square’s upcoming third album.

SINGLE REVIEW: "TRANS AM" - THOMPSON SQUARE

SINGLE: "Trans Am"
REVIEWER: Alyse Smith
Follow Alyse on Twitter at @ASmith1300

Thompson Square’s latest release “Trans Am” is another clever offering from the constantly crafty duo. A tongue-in-cheek song, rife with innuendo it does not disappoint. With rather risqué lyrics Thompson Square starts out with the memorable line “She’s fast, she’s loud, looks pretty damn good with top off.” It takes until the chorus that they let you in on the secret that their Trans-Am is sexier than anything and Kiefer would love nothing more than for you (or you know, Shauna) to take a ride in it. An adventurous song with the “gears grindin’” and them flying faster and faster, hopeful evasion of those patriotic flashing lights and their night or possibly, life is set. A risky exploration into the night, full of daring and the surge of adrenaline, as close to flying as you can get.

Steve McQueen was surely thought of in the writer’s room and if he wasn’t a source of inspiration, he at least would love it. As he was emblematic of that era, muscle cars and black leather jackets, fearless escapades and skillful escapes, so is this song. For in these 3 minutes, Thompson Square has captured the sexy recklessness of the epoch of McQueen and Flynn. As known for their audacity on the screen as well as off of it. If this is just a taste of their upcoming album will hold, then I can surely not wait to see of the other feats they have for us.

With lyrics like:

“I wanna hug those curves

And show you what this motor’s made of

Grinding the gears, 8-track blastin'

I wanna hear you screamin’ faster. . .

Trans AM” showcases a grittier, fun-loving side of the married duo. The song captures the brazen passion and energy of Thompson Square’s live shows, something fans have long since celebrated.

“This new music is a very tempo-driven project that probably represents us more than both of its predecessors,” says Keifer Thompson. “'Trans Am’ is a state of mind. It’s about liberation and not being painted into a corner. These new recordings show a more aggressive side of Thompson Square and reflects what fans experience at our live shows. It’s a lot of fun for us.”

THOMPSON SQUARE FORCED TO CANCEL THIS WEEKEND’S SHOWS DUE TO ILLNESS

NASHVILLE, TN – Reigning ACM & CMA Vocal Duo of the Year Thompson Square has been forced to cancel this weekend’s shows due to illness.

In a heartfelt message to fans today, Keifer Thompson states:

“It breaks my heart to tell our fans today that we must cancel our upcoming concert appearances this weekend. What many of you may not know is that I have recently been battling a very serious vocal condition.  I was urged by doctors to cancel Thompson Square's appearances and go on complete vocal rest several weeks ago; however, neither Shawna nor I wanted to disappoint our fans, which we love and respect dearly.  So we chose to continue performing our scheduled shows while I remained completely silent offstage in an effort to heal.  Unfortunately, at this time, I have been ordered by doctors to take the next step and to cancel this weekend’s shows in an effort to heal internally.

Words cannot express how devastated we both are to bring this news to our fans.  Our fans are on our minds every moment of every day – you are the reason we're here and the reason we get to live our dream of making music for a living.  We hope that you will understand what a difficult decision this has been and know that we can't wait to get back out on the road and make it up to you as soon as possible.”

Show cancellations include tonight’s headlining show in Glen Valley, VA at Innsbrook After Hours at the Snagajob Pavilion as well as Thompson Square’s appearances on the following Luke Bryan Dirt Road Diaries tour stops. Those shows will go on as planned with Cole Swindell now appearing.

May 30 -   Canandiagua, NY
May 31 -   Hartford, CT
June 1  -   Camden, NJ
June 2  -   Boston, MA

Thompson Square is a current CMT Music Award and Teen Choice Award nominee. The duo’s new album, JUST FEELS GOOD, is in stores now.
