SONGS YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO: FRIDAY, JANUARY 7

Welcome to a new year! This year, tune into newer artists as well as veteran artists who are still releasing new music and give them some exposure. There is some good stuff released to digital outlets everywhere this week - check 'em out and please #sharethemusic!

If you are able to leave a review on the outlet you use, please do so and let them know how you like the song. These reviews are so helpful to an artist and their team. If you don't like the song, be constructive in your review, not rude. The point is to help these artists, not discourage. And yes, I know there are LOTS of good songs that have been released the past week or two and they're not all listed here. I choose the ones that stand out to me and those might not always stand out to you but at least you've heard about them. Most of the time they won't be by artists who saturate today's country radio but there might be one or two in there if the song hits me right.

Be sure to check out the artist's websites and find out more about them and the latest tour dates. Connect with them on social media.

HEARTLAND SET TO RE-RELEASE NEW RECORDING OF HIT SINGLE "I LOVED HER FIRST" FEATURING TRACY LAWRENCE

• Most-Requested “Father/Daughter” Wedding Dance Song Re-recorded By Core Band Members •
• Special Guest Vocal Appearance By Tracy Lawrence •
• Track Set To Impact Country Radio May 6, 2019 •
• Available NOW Via All Digital Outlets And Streaming Platforms •

Heartland, the indie recording group that made an unprecedented splash in the country music scene more than a decade ago, has announced the re-release of the original tune that put the live entertainers on the country music map. Rekindling a one-of-a-kind chart-topper, and one of the world’s most-loved, and most-requested, wedding songs, the Alabama band celebrates the 2019 release of its new rendition of the hit song “I Loved Her First”.

Produced by hit songwriter Walt Aldridge "(There’s) No Getting Over Me" (Ronnie Milsap)/ "Till You’re Gone" (Barbara Mandrell)/ "Holding Her And Loving You" (Earl Thomas Conley)/ "Modern Day Bonnie And Clyde" (Travis Tritt)]), the brand new Nashville recording features performances by core band members Jason Albert, Charles Crawford and Keith West, with a special guest appearance by Tracy Lawrence. Set for a May 6, 2019 radio impact date, The new contemporary recording is the title track, and a sneak peek, of the band’s forthcoming 12-song CD project titled I LOVED HER FIRST: The Heart of Heartland anticipated in late June 2019.

Formed in 1994, Heartland released the original "I Loved Her First" track in June 2006 as its first single and title track from group’s debut studio album titled I LOVED HER FIRST. Written by Walt Aldridge and Elliott Park, the original track held its position the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart for 16 consecutive weeks ultimately ranking as a No. 1 hit, was nominated for “Single Record Of The Year” by the Academy of Country Music and made the grade as a Billboard Top 100 tune for the year (2006).

A Billboard magazine review recognized the tune as a "beautifully written tearjerker that will hit home with dads everywhere who can't believe their little girls have grown up so soon.” (Deborah Evans Price)

Fast forward to 2015, driven by viral video play, the track re-entered the charts landing at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart nearly nine years later. The single has sold more than 1 million digital downloads to date, remains steadfast among the Top 100 Country Love Songs (https://tasteofcountry.com/top-100-country-love-songs) and is the sentimental “go-to” song played as the father-daughter dance at weddings across the globe. With no exception, the new recording is poised to carry on the tradition and unparalleled success story as Heartland’s swan song.

L To R: Steve Emley (Fitzgerald-Hartley), Cheryl Davis (Sr. Director of Devlopement at NRM), Tracy Lawrence, Chuck Pursel (Lawrence's Tour Manager), Rev. Glenn Cranfield (President/CEO at NRM), Patrick Thomas (Silverfish

Tracy Lawrence and a group of celebrity friends raised more than $63,000 for the Nashville Rescue Mission at the 10th Annual Mission: Possible Turkey Fry in November, continuing the country music star’s personal mission to help those in need.

“Growing up for me, having a good meal commemorating the Thanksgiving holiday meant more than just satisfying your appetite,” Lawrence said. “It signified a time to reflect, count our blessings and share what we're thankful for, so to have an opportunity to feed those in our area while helping them feel that sense of pride for feeding their families, well there's no better feeling. Over the years this event has grown, and every year I am even more thankful to those who come together to make this such a success.”

The “Honky Tonkin’ with Tracy Lawrence” national syndicated radio host’s yearly event has provided more than 75,000 meals to those in need in its decade-long history. The event has grown over the years and the 2015 installment, held Nov. 24 at the Nashville Rescue Mission, included Lawrence’s first concert at City Winery with performances by Charlie Daniels, Halfway to Hazard, Lorrie Morgan, Darryl Worley and Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down.

Members of Nashville’s music and sports communities also attended, including Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry, Terri Clark, Lee Greenwood and Jake Clayton, Tennessee Titans Coty Sensabaugh and Brian Arakpo along with the team’s cheerleaders, and the Nashville Predators mascot Gnash.

Lawrence returned to the Mission last week to present Martin Ollenberger with a left-handed guitar from Taylor Guitars. Ollenberger, who lost his job and fell into homelessness because of health difficulties, is the face of the NRM this holiday season, starring in a commercial for the mission. Learn more about his story and the mission here.

Lawrence also auctioned off one of his guitars signed by the artist, Daniels, Vince Gill, Halfway to Hazard, Randy Houser, Morgan, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler and Chris Young, earning $10,000.

Lawrence, the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music award-winning artist, is best known as a hitmaker with nearly two dozen hits, 13 million albums sold and many memorable shows, a legacy he shares through dozens of live appearances every year. Now Lawrence also brings a lifetime of stories and experiences to radio listeners on “Honky Tonkin’ with Tracy Lawrence,” picked up by dozens of stations across the nation this year, including Nashville’s WSM. The show focuses on hits of the 1980s, ‘90s and early 2000s with special guests and interviews every week.

PRESS RELEASE

Nashville, Tenn. (January 29, 2014) – Just when you think Charlie Daniels 40th Anniversary Volunteer Jam can't get any bigger, additional megastar performers are announced. Trace Adkins, Ted Nugent, Tracy Lawrence, Craig Morgan, Colt Ford, The Oak Ridge Boys and Michael W. Smith will all be appearing alongside the previously-announced Travis Tritt, Montgomery Gentry, Billy Ray Cyrus, The Kentucky Headhunters, The Outlaws and Lee Roy Parnell. The megastars will bind together to support the needs of American veterans through The Journey Home Project. Tickets to the once-in-a-lifetime event will be available beginning Friday, January 30 at 10 a.m. CST at the Bridgestone Arena box office and all Ticketmaster locations. Due to tremendous growth over its forty years of sell-out success, the legendary Volunteer Jam will take place for the first time at the Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville on August 12, 2015 and will be hosted by Sean Hannity and Storme Warren.

In 1974, The Charlie Daniels Band hosted the first-ever Volunteer Jam as a way of celebrating their first hometown sellout concert, never knowing how big the event would become — from being aired as a two-hour TV special produced by Dick Clark Productions, to earning national attention through the Jerry Lewis Telethon, to being broadcast LIVE around the world on Voice of America, the event experienced exponential growth with each passing year. "I'm very excited to continue the Jam tradition," said Daniels. I hope to see more Nashville Volunteer Jams in the future. I'm very, very excited to continue the Jam tradition forty years later. Ain't it good to be alive, and be in Tennessee."

The 2015 Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam will benefit The Journey Home Project, the non-profit organization that Daniels serves as Chairman of the Board and whose mission is to connect donors to veterans' organizations that can help meet their health care, education and career needs, as well as The Predators Foundation, which is devoted to funneling the excitement of professional sports towards the needs of the community.  For more information on The Journey Home Project, please visit: thejourneyhomeproject.org.
