Tim Montana is rallying the troops for his inaugural American Thread benefit concert, set for October 2 at Nashville's City Winery. The special concert event will benefit Special Ops Xcursions, a nonprofit that supports U.S. special operations forces and their families. Montana will headline and is planning for several surprise guest performers.

For the past three years, Montana has headed up the American Thread Sporting Clays Shoot in Nashville, drawing celebs who lent their time to help our nation's military heroes. Previous celeb attendees include Charlie Sheen, Colbie Caillat, Travis Pastrana, Lee Brice, Steve Cropper and more. In addition to the concert, Montana will continue his tradition with the fourth annual Tim Montana & Friends American Thread Sporting Clays Shoot, set for October 3 at the Nashville Gun Club. The yearly event has generated nearly one million dollars since its inception.

“I’m honored to get to serve those that have served us," says Montana. "Raising money through the American Thread Shoot has been one of the highlights of my life and career and has been life changing to our active duty soldiers, veterans and their families.”

“The Tim Montana and Friends American Thread Shoot has helped us impact thousands of special operations family members," explains Special Ops Xcursions executive director Scott Graves. "The funds and awareness raised provides the opportunity for healing to happen in the outdoors! Bottom line, our warriors still in the fight need us and we need them. The world is a better place by this remarkable combination of celebrities and our nations most elite soldiers.”

Tickets for the American Threads benefit concert go on-sale this Friday, July 21, via citywinerynashville.com. Pre-sales begin tomorrow, July 19. To sponsor or participate in this year's clays shoot event, visit americanthreadshoot.com.

CRAIG MORGAN JOINS THE USO IN BRINGING A "TASTE OF HOME" TO U.S. SERVICE MEMBERS DEPLOYED IN GERMANY

When our service members can’t be home for the holidays, the United Service Organizations (USO) takes home to our service members. 17-year Army veteran Craig Morgan joined the nonprofit on a three-day trip, from December 19 to 21, to Germany where the country music star performed three concerts for troops and their families stationed at USAG Bavaria.

Morgan, who was active duty for 10.5 years and a member of the U.S. Reserves for 6.5 years, was reunited with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions while touring USAG Bavaria, both of which he was a part during his years of service. Since Morgan’s first USO tour in 2002, he has visited 15 countries during 13 tours, entertaining more than 45,000 U.S. troops and their families.

“It’s always an honor and a privilege to visit with our troops and their families, but especially during the holiday season,” said Morgan. “I know how much it means to them to receive those care packages at this time of the year and to hear those messages of gratitude from Americans everywhere who value the incredible sacrifices they make year-round.”

Find tour photos here.

“Serving overseas over the holiday season, sometimes far from family and friends, can be difficult,” said Jennifer Wahlquist, Vice President, USO Global Entertainment. “We’re grateful to the wonderful entertainers like Craig who generously donate their time to bring holiday cheer and a connection to home to our service members.”
“We are so thankful for Craig Morgan taking the time to visit with and perform for our Soldiers and family members," said Audre Binder, Director, Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation at United States Army Garrison Bavaria. "And it's even more special because Craig knows what it's like to be away from loved ones during the holidays, as a former servicemember himself. He has just an incredible way of connecting with everyone here."

Bringing entertainment to the troops is a cornerstone of the USO’s mission to strengthen America’s service members through connection. More than 75,000 service members participate in USO Entertainment tours annually, and more than 50,000 military members have attended virtual celebrity visits through the USO Military Virtual Programming Entertainment Series (USO MVP) during the last two years.

#COUNTRYGIVESBACK - THE CHARLIE DANIELS JOURNEY HOME PROJECT DONATES $25,000 TO UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE'S VETERANS SUCCESS CENTER

The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP) presented the Veterans Success Center at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a $25,000 donation on Tuesday, March 22.

TCDJHP board members David Corlew, co-founder of the organization and manager for the late Charlie Daniels, and Major General Terry “Max” Haston (retired) visited the center to meet with student veterans. They also attended the Tennessee vs. Butler home baseball game for a check presentation with Jayetta Rogers, director of the Veterans Success Center, and Leonard Clemons, associate vice provost for Student Success.

"Continuing education has and continues to be an important step in the reintegration of many returning veterans,” explains Corlew. "Charlie had a close relationship with the University of Tennessee, so it’s our mission to support our veterans that are pursuing their educational needs. The Veterans Success Center is growing daily with Jayetta and the team, and we are proud to be of assistance in any way possible."

The $25,000 donation will go to the creation of a Veterans Success Institute, student veteran transformational grants, a veteran emergency fund, and technology upgrades. The donation is the third and largest gift UT has received from The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project, and Rogers says she hopes it’s the beginning of a long and meaningful relationship with the organization. “Charlie Daniels was a tremendous supporter of the University of Tennessee, and we are beyond grateful to receive this gift that will enhance the academic, professional, and personal success of our student veterans while at UT,” notes Rogers.

“Ensuring that veteran students have a solid foundation for success is the reason that The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project supports our state universities’ veterans centers. TCDJHP believes that assisting and supporting veterans in obtaining a quality education is a critical phase line in their ‘Journey Home,’” says Haston. “We hope that by contributing to the University of Tennessee Veterans Success Center will start a habit for others to follow ensuring the center’s future.”

LOCASH recently returned from the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff 2021 USO Tour. On the six day, seven stop tour the chart-topping twosome performed for our military members, participated in troop engagements, and shared meals with U.S. service members from Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force, and Army.

Joining LOCASH on their journey was Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force General John E. Hyten, actor Wilmer Valderamma, recording artist Lauren Daigle, comedian Taylor Williamson, New Orleans Saints’ Hall of Fame members, Deuce McCallister and Michael Lewis, and Miss America, Camille Schrier. This marks the second time that LOCASH has been tapped for a USO tour with Gen. Hyten.

“It’s been more than a year since we were able to thank our troops in person—we can’t express how thankful we are for General Hyten inviting us along and providing the opportunity for us to express our gratitude in-person at a USO show to those protecting our freedoms once again,” said LOCASH.

In addition to touring, the “One Big Country Song” singers have been hard at work, focusing on songwriting and making music, including a hattrick of recently released collaborations. LOCASH joined the Australian duo, The Wolfe Brothers for the rebel-rousing duet, “Startin’ Something.” The music video for the barnstormer was released internationally today—watch it HERE. Additionally, LOCASH teamed up with Jimmie Allen for “Get Country,” the first song on Allen’s critically-acclaimed Bettie James Gold Edition album as well as the duo’s own “Cloud of Dust (feat. The Gronkowski Brothers),” written with the famed football-loving brothers.

HOME FREE ANNOUNCE NEW PATRIOTIC ALBUM "LAND OF THE FREE"

FEATURES 10 STAR-SPANGLED COVERS, COLLABORATIONS + ORIGINALS, INCLUDING “TRAVELIN’ SOLDIER” OUT TODAY

Just in time for Memorial Day, Country’s all-vocal favorites, Home Free, are announcing a special salute to the red, white and blue. They’ll unfurl their patriotic new album, "LAND OF THE FREE", on June 25 via Home Free Records, with pre-orders available today. Chock full of star-spangled covers, all-star collaborations and one standout original, the 10-track project aims to bring a sense of unity to all those who hear it – and fans can get a sneak peek today.

“Based merely on the human condition, our differences are far outweighed by our common ground," explains Home Free's bass singer Tim Foust. “We hope this album serves as a reminder of the unity to be found in our shared humanity.”

Sure to stir up American pride, "LAND OF THE FREE" features all-new versions of tunes that underscore the spirit of the nation – fan favorites steeped in liberty and possibility. Highlights include harmonious renditions of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA,” Tim McGraw + Tyler Hubbard’s (of Florida Georgia Line) “Undivided” and Brooks & Dunn’s anthemic smash, “Only in America.”

Likewise, the flag-waving set is full of critically-acclaimed collaborations – each one delivered with hand firmly over heart. Unexpected features include a “stirring” (American Songwriter) rendition of “God Bless The U.S.A.” featuring Lee Greenwood and The United States Air Force Band, as well as the group’s “iconic” (CMT) version of “American Pie,” which features the folk-rock classic’s creator, Don McLean.

Home Free’s LAND OF THE FREE Track Listing:

1. “Undivided” (Tyler Hubbard, Chris Loocke)

2. “Only in America” (Kix Brooks, Don Cook, Randall Jay Rogers)

3. “God Bless the U.S.A.” feat. Lee Greenwood + The United States Air Force Band (Lee Greenwood)

4. “Brothers in Arms” (Mark Knopfler)

5. “America (My Country, ‘Tis of Thee)”

6. “Travelin’ Soldier” (Bruce Robison)

7. “The Land of the Free” (Chris Chatham, Tim Foust)

8. “American Pie” feat. Don McLean (Don McLean)

9. “People” feat. Jeffrey East (Jeffrey East, James Ryan Plappert, Michael White)

10. “Born in the U.S.A.” (Bruce Springsteen)

In celebration of the album’s announce, fans are getting a preview with today's release of Home Free's version of The Chicks’ emotional smash, “Travelin’ Soldier,” alongside an official music video. Filmed by The Bolo Brothers in Nashville, the video’s storyline updates the tune’s original narrative in an empowering way, switching up the track’s lead characters, turning the hero into a heroine.

“When Austin [Brown] first suggested we cover this song, it had been years since I heard it – and to be perfectly honest, I had forgotten just how beautiful and tragic it truly is. After listening to it again, I was totally on board,” explains Home Free’s tenor Rob Lundquist. “I know this one hits home for a lot of people – myself included. My dad was in the Army when I was born, and when my parents heard our version of this song for the first time, they both had tears in their eyes. Needless to say, there’s something really special about this song, and I’m so glad we decided to sing it.”

Starting this fall, Home Free will re-embark on their headlining DIVE BAR SAINTS WORLD TOUR with an extensive run of rescheduled dates. Shortly after, the acclaimed group is set to kick off their recently announced WARMEST WINTER HOLIDAY TOUR – a festive trek that kicks off December 1 in Evansville, IN, and hits 14 venues in total through December 19.

OPERATION SONG RELEASING "A SALUTE TO GOLD STAR FAMILIES" IN HONOR OF FALLEN HEROES

Special Album Drops on May 28 / Memorial Day Weekend;
Pre-Sales Available May 14 Through iTunes & Amazon

Proceeds Benefit Programs and Services for Veterans,
Military Members & Their Families

Operation Song is sharing powerful stories about hope and healing through the gift of songwriting with A Salute to Gold Star Families. The 8-track album is dedicated to fallen military heroes and their loved ones. It's set to be released on Friday, May 28, Memorial Day weekend, and will be available through outlets where music is sold digitally and on CD in the OperationSong.org store. Pre-sales will be available on Friday, May 14 through iTunes and Amazon.

On the album, the non-profit organization teamed professional songwriters with loved ones of fallen military heroes to help transform their compelling stories into songs. Together, they wrote the tunes to honor our nation's greatest men and women in uniform who made the ultimate sacrifice. All proceeds from the recording project go back into the non-profit organization for continued programming and services. Operation Song programs are always provided at no expense to veterans, active-duty military and their families.

Songwriters performing on the album include Jenn Franklin, Victoria Banks, Aaron G. Barker Sr, Becca Rae Greene, Cindy Morgan, Hunter Wolkonowski, Marc Beeson, and Stephen J. Williams.

Gold Star mother Nanette West, co-writer of "My Hero, My Soldier, My Son," describes support from the organization as immeasurable in coping with the loss of her son, First Lieutenant (1LT.) Kile West, while also helping to ensure his sacrifice is never forgotten. “Working with Operation Song has been one of the most uplifting things I have ever been able to be a part of, not only being able to share the life story of my son but keeping his memory alive," West says. "I truly admire the singer/songwriters’ talent and professionalism, and heart from the founder and directors of Operation Song. I will forever be thankful.”

On Memorial Day (May 28) of 2007, Lieutenant (1LT.) Kile West was killed in the line of duty.

SiriusXM host Storme Warren knows first-hand about the impact of Operation Song as a dedicated board member. "It’s humbling to hear the stories of our veterans and Gold Star family members," says Warren. "The sacrifices, the heartache, the pain and the pride. And then to hear those stories come to life through music truly connects listeners to the personal experiences of military families. It is an honor to work closely with these families and the generous songwriting community in helping to share these songs of hope, healing and service."

Operation Song Executive Director Kyle Frederick says the album project highlights the need for continued outreach and services. “This process and these recordings have given me a crystal-clear perspective on why it is essential that we, as a community, provide every support option possible for our veterans, active-duty military and their families,” he explains.

More than 950 songs have been produced since Nashville-based Operation Song began in 2012. Participants range from veterans of WWII to those currently serving in the military. The organization was founded by GRAMMY® and Dove Award-nominated songwriter Bob Regan. He’s penned over 200 songs for critically acclaimed artists such as Keith Urban, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Hank Williams Jr., Randy Travis, Billy Ray Cyrus and more. Regan has scored 11 ASCAP Most Performed Song awards and continues to serve as Operation Song's President of the Board.

KYLE JENNINGS IS ABOUT PATRIOTISM, THE AMERICAN SPIRIT AND BEING "FREEDOM STRONG"

Freedom Strong”is the debut release from Kyle Jennings’ upcoming new album ‘Roots & Wings’ which is slated to drop later this year. It will be released online and at iTunes this Memorial Day, Monday May 25th. “Freedom Strong” is a patriotic song written and dedicated to the resiliency of the American spirit and serves as a memorial to the fallen heroes who paved the way for our country’s independence as well as honoring the on-going sacrifice of the military servicemen and women, law enforcement, fire, first responders and patriots everywhere.

“Freedom Strong”
Words and Music by Kyle Jennings

When the walls are closin’ in we choose to stay
When the odds aren’t on our side we find a way
When faced with the impossible there’s a spirit that’s unstoppable
A sacred creed that keeps us keepin’ on

We come from every corner of the earth
Some from places most have never heard
And with an iron fist and tempered pride we stand together side by side
United, tough, and tangled into one

We are freedom strong
We are freedom strong

We fight for peace we stand up for the weak
We were build on blood and sweat and crazy dreams
We remember all the heroes past
Purple hearts and folded flags
One nation under God we carry on

We are freedom strong
But what’s that mean
It’s faith and hope and love and all that’s in between
And it’s a promise made through sacrifice
That breaks the chains and pays the price
And it echoes when our final breath is drawn
We are freedom strong

Together there’s no challenge we can’t meet
No enemy we face we can’t defeat
We’re Americans we’re proud and true
The fabric of our red, white, and blue
Challenge one and man you’ve got us all

We are freedom strong
We are freedom strong
We are freedom strong
We are freedom strong
We are freedom strong
We are freedom strong
We are freedom strong
We are freedom strong

Freedom Strong” will be released both digitally and conventionally at Kyle’s website www.kylejenningsmusic.com and at iTunes on Memorial Day May 25th.  Downloads will be available for $1.29 and hard copy CD singles will be available for purchase for $5. 100% of proceeds from the receipts of “Freedom Strong” will be donated to Project 13:13 Foundation a non-profit organization co-founded by Jennings that works in conjunction to benefit returning wounded American servicemen and women much like Wounded Warrior Project.

The recording of the song was initially funded by a GoFundMe campaign Jennings setup with the code name “Operation Freedom Strong”. The idea was that if the project was supported and the goal was met, he would donate all sales of the song to charity benefitting wounded American servicemen and women. 6 days later the budget was raised and the recording process began.

In addition to offering the single up to charity, Jennings also requested his supporters send in pictures of any family or friends who were military past present or future. One submission will be selected to be utilized in the design of the cover art for the single and the remaining photos would be featured in the video, which will be released on the same day. Pictures of relatives from WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom as well as active duty service started flooding in. Jennings’ vision to coordinate this launch project as a family release began to take shape.

CHARLIE DANIELS NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD FOR JOURNEY HOME PROJECT

American Patriot Leads Charitable Endeavor to Support Armed Forces

PRESS RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 6, 2014) – For years Charlie Daniels has been an avid supporter of America’s military and now the Journey Home Project, a 501c3 organization, has enlisted Daniels as the Chairman of the Board.  In 2009, Daniels began hosting a yearly fundraising dinner at The Palm restaurant where money raised would be donated to various military charities.  In 2012, Daniels and David Corlew, co-founder of Journey Home Project, started the Charlie Daniels Scholarship for Heroes Fund as part of the Yellow Ribbon Education Program to raise money to allow our military heroes to receive an excellent education.  Now, in 2014, along with partners Joe and Mercedez Longever, the Journey Home Project has been established to cultivate and bring all fundraising efforts under one umbrella.

The Journey Home Project was born out of a need and helps create awareness, reaching out to people who might not come into contact with soldiers on a daily basis, but who care, we know that America is full of people who want to help, but they're not sure how,” says Joe Longever, Journey Home Project board member.  “Our veterans have sacrificed so much, they are proud that they have served their country and honored that someone would think of them. We can't forget this sacrifice.  If we all do a little bit, it all adds up to a lot.”

The Journey Home Project exists to assist other not-for-profits in securing funds to help causes that benefit Veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

“Between Charlie and me, we have traveled abroad to so many military bases to show support for our troops and it means so much to us personally,” adds Corlew.  “Every time we do events or put fundraisers together, people want to know where the money is going and how we can help their situation. With the Journey Home Project, we can now make the decisions on where the money will go and how it can best help those in need.”

The Journey Home Project has already donated $22,500 to the Task Force Dagger Foundation after raising funds at a private dinner.  The next event planned will take place at The Palm restaurant on Tuesday, September 9th, where Charlie Daniels will host a benefit for the Journey Home Project.

The Journey Home Project organizational members include:

Charlie Daniels – Chairman of the Board
Mercedez Longever – Managing Director
David Corlew – Board member
Joe Longever – Board member
Ed Hardy – Board member

CHRIS YOUNG UPHOLDS PROMISE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR STARS FOR STRIPES

Proceeds to help provide celebrity entertainment to deployed troops overseas

(Nashville, Tenn. – October 9, 2013) – Stars for Stripes was the recent beneficiary of a promise made good by RCA Records artist Chris Young, who raised over $35,000 for the non-profit organization, fulfilling a fundraising promise made to his fan club members at a party in June 2012.Young closed out the campaign for the non-profit Stars for Stripes, which provides celebrity entertainment for U.S. troops overseas, with a sold out show on September 30 from House of Blues in L.A.. The money raised from his campaign has already supplemented 2012-2013 celebrity tours to the Pacific Rim, Europe and Afghanistan.

Young became involved with Stars for Stripes in 2009 when he toured military bases in Iraq and Kuwait with fellow country artist, Craig Morgan. The trip was documented for a Great American Country (GAC) television special called, “Stars for Stripes – Wounded Warriors Return.” In 2010, Young became a member of the Stars for Stripes Board of Directors and went on his second overseas tour once again to Iraq and Kuwait through the program in 2011.

“Chris has been a wonderful addition to the SFS Board of Directors,” said Judy Seale, President of Judy Seale International and Stars For Stripes. “As someone who has been overseas to entertain troops in a combat zone, he realizes how important celebrity visits are to the morale of our military stationed abroad. He has been an amazing ‘Ambassador’ for Stars for Stripes and a tireless supporter of our military men and women."

Donations to Stars For Stripes can still be made at www.starsforstripes.com.

A Tennessee native, Chris Young recently released his fourth album, A.M., along with his current hit single, “Aw Naw.” To date, Chris has catalogued five number one singles along with multiple Grammy, ACM and CMA nominations. KELLIE PICKLER SHOWS HER LOVE FOR FEMALE TROOPS THIS VALENTINE'S DAY

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Thurs., Feb. 14, 2013) – USO tour veteran Kellie Pickler is no stranger to supporting our men and women in uniform--it’s something she’s been doing since she set out on her first USO tour in 2007.  Along the way she’s lifted the spirits of more than 30,000 servicemen and women stationed in eight countries.  So, it’s no surprise that the country music singer/songwriter wanted to do something special for our female soldiers spending Valentine’s Day in Afghanistan and Kuwait.

Having traveled to Afghanistan on three out of her six USO tours, the songstress learned first-hand how difficult it is to feel like a lady when you’re in the desert.  When she found out about “Ladies Night,” hosted monthly by USO centers in the Middle East, Pickler jumped at the chance to be involved.  Designed to give our female soldiers a chance to bond with each other, pamper themselves and take a much-needed break from military living, the events are strictly ladies only.

Backed by a team of sponsors including:

Bed Bath & Beyond, Orville Redenbacher’s Gourmet Popping Corn, Dearfoams and US Weekly magazine, Pickler wrapped up some of her favorite "girlie" items and sent them overseas to our female soldiers for a special Valentine’s Day edition of “Ladies Night.”   Boxes filled with hard-to-get items such as nail polish, slippers, manicure kits, chocolates and chick flicks, among other items, arrived just in time for a holiday treat. While the mega star wasn’t able to attend the events in person, she did pop in for a virtual visit on Skype and delivered a special message of thanks and support to the servicewomen.

“I am grateful to all of our servicemen and women for the sacrifices they make, but I have a special place in my heart for servicewomen," says Pickler. "They are some brave, beautiful and dedicated women.  That’s why I wanted to do something special just for them this Valentine's Day.  While our servicewomen are spending this time away from their family and loved ones I wanted them to be able to take a moment and pamper themselves.”

DETAILS:
• Donated items were shipped to USO Centers at Camps Leatherneck and Marmal, Forward Operating Bases Sharana and Shindand, Airfields Bagram and Kandahar in Afghanistan as well as Camp Buehring in Kuwait.
• Each location received packages filled with make-up, manicure and pedicure products, moisturizers, soaps and a variety of other pampering products donated by
Bed Bath & Beyond; the current special edition of US Weekly featuring a four-page spread from her last USO Tour; snacks from Orville Redenbacher’s; Dearforms slippers; greeting cards, as well as other products.

• Pickler Skyped in for a LIVE chat with female service members at USO Shindand and USO Kandahar in Afghanistan and USO Camp Buehring in Kuwait.  For those locations unable to participate in the LIVE chat, due to connectivity restraints, Pickler pre-recorded a special message of ‘thanks.’
• Always a strong supporter of our servicemen and women and military families, the country music artist recently auctioned off her 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn truck (courtesy of Ram Trucks) and donated the proceeds, totaling more than $35,000, to the USO in support of USO Warrior and Family Care programs and services.
• This past December, Pickler traveled with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey on her sixth USO tour and delivered holiday cheer and support to more than 6,000 servicemen and women serving in the Middle East.

KELLIE PICKLER COMPLETES SIXTH USO TOUR TO ENTERTAIN TROOPS AS PART OF CHAIRMAN'S USO HOLIDAY TOUR

Credit: Fred Greaves

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Thursday, December 20, 2012) - On Wednesday, Dec. 19, country star Kellie Pickler returned to the states from what was her sixth USO tour overseas to perform for U.S. troops as part of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey’s annual USO holiday tour.

Other celebrities that joined her on the seven-day, four-country tour throughout the Middle East include  Ross Detwiler and Craig Stammen of the Washington Nationals, Matt Hendricks of the Washington Capitals and comedian Iliza Shlesinger. All participated in an array of hospital visits and USO meet and greets, each tailored to bring a touch of home to the servicemen and women making the biggest sacrifice. Stops included: Bagram Air Base and Kandahar Air Field in Afghanistan, U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart in Germany; and a visit with Sailors stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis, among other locations.

“It’s always different coming here this time of year,” Pickler said, prior to her performance at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan on Dec. 16.

“[During] the holidays, everyone wants to be home with their families and loved ones. And I know it’s just as hard for [your] families back home, so they’re making a sacrifice as well. I just want to say thanks so much for all that you do, and thank you to your families as they make a huge sacrifice. This time of year is really hard so I hope that you know that we love you. The USO, all of us, we are praying for a safe return home for you all. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
