Celebration to include a Q&A with and performance by Ashley McBryde along with two singer-songwriter rounds featuring special guest Tenille Arts, Kalie Shorr, Candi Carpenter, Brittney Spencer, Madeline Finn, Sophia Scott, Mia Mantia, Livy Jeanne, Kaylin Roberson, Allie Dunn and Mia Morris

On Monday March 29, Nashville’s all-female, singer-songwriter collective, Song Suffragettes, will celebrate their milestone seventh anniversary with two performance rounds featuring 11 singer-songwriters and a special presentation to respected hit songwriter and acclaimed Warner Music Nashville recording artist Ashley McBryde. In addition to her widely heralded and GRAMMY-nominated albums Girl Going Nowhere and Never Will, McBryde’s long list of accolades include CMA New Artist of the Year ACM New Female Artist and CMT Breakout Artist of the Year awards along with her recent Top 10 RIAA Gold-Certified single “One Night Standards.” Published by Jody Williams Music, McBryde is also an established songwriter who has penned songs for Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and Chrissy Metz. McBryde will be presented with the Song Suffragettes’ “Yellow Rose of Inspiration Award” for her contributions to the songwriting community, including writing many of the songs that have inspired the 308 women who have performed on the Song Suffragettes stage through the years. McBryde is only the third woman to receive that honor after esteemed songwriter/publisher Liz Rose who received it in 2019 and hitmaker Laura Veltz who received it in 2020. McBryde will also take the stage to perform a few select songs as part of the celebration.

Starting at 6pm on March 29 at The Listening Room Café, the first songwriter round will feature special guest and 19th & Grand Records artist Tenille Arts who currently has a Top 10 country radio single with “Somebody Like That.” Arts’ performance will be a special homecoming for Song Suffragettes since Arts played her first of many Song Suffragettes shows back in May of 2016. Of note, “Somebody Like That” was co-written by Arts and fellow Song Suffragettes Allison Veltz and Alex Kline (Kline also produced the track). Joining Arts and hosting the first round of the night will be critically acclaimed TMWRK Records artist Kalie Shorr along with fellow singer-songwriters Madeline Finn, Livy Jeanne and Brittney Spencer (Spencer’s first-ever Song Suffragettes performance).

The second songwriter round of the evening will by hosted by long-time Song Suffragette Candi Carpenter and feature singer-songwriters Mia Mantia, Kaylin Roberson and Sophia Scott along with first-time Song Suffragette Allie Dunn. Both of the evening’s songwriter rounds will be supported by cajon player, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Mia Morris who will also perform.

INTERVIEW: GETTING TO KNOW STEPHANIE QUAYLE, ONE OF CMT'S NEXT WOMEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC CLASS OF 2019

ARTIST: Stephanie Quayle
INTERVIEWER: Charlie Woods
DATE: July 12, 2019
VENUE: Jam in the Valley - Varysburg, NY

Follow Charlie on Twitter at @ConvictCharlie

If you're a supporter of females in country music, we highly recommend adding Stephanie Quayle to your list of artists. Newly inducted as a member of CMT's Next Women of Country Class of 2019,
Stephanie is breaking through with a banner year and making her presence known in this genre, not only through her vocals, but through her attitude, work ethic and relationships with other females in the genre, pushing them towards success as hard as she pushes herself.

Our "boots on the ground" favorite on site rep, Charlie Woods, had the chance to sit down with Stephanie for a few minutes before her performance at Jam in the Valley (and in an air conditioned SUV - ooh hoity toity ... LOL) and get to know her a little better.

Thank you to both  Stephanie and Charlie for taking the time out of their busy day so we can bring you up close and personal with this outstanding representative for the female voice. Thank you also to E.J. Bernas for making this happen. We appreciate you!

Charlie: You have a great bio. What attracted you to country music at such a young age and how did you go from living on a buffalo ranch to Music City?

Stephanie: Predominantly it was traditional country music. There was a silver am radio on the window. I was 15 years old in Freeburg, Switzerland. There was a band next to me at the cafe. They were looking for a singer. I have been on fire for music ever since. It has been 8 years in November that I have been in Nashville.

Charlie: You are a member of the 2019 CMT Next Women of Country and a role model for upcoming female artists. What advice would you give a young female artist getting started and some great advice you have received?

Stephanie: A little girl came to the show last night and I’m mentoring her. I got to see her and talk a little bit. It was so much fun. If you’re not having fun don’t do it. There are so many hours offstage that go into a show. The best advice I got was from my mother. She said “Only good will come of this.” No matter what is hard or worthwhile, life is going to happen. My parents never told me I can’t do something. If you want it bad enough, you will make it happen through all of the obstacles.

Charlie: What has been your biggest challenge as a female in a predominantly male industry and how are you adapting to and overcoming those challenges?

Stephanie: I don’t let the noise get between my ears. Any female that is in country music we cheer them on.

Charlie: What is your favorite song that you have released and why?

Stephanie: “Drinking with Dolly” was the first song released to country radio. It is a timeless and classic song. I played it on my Opry debut. The coolest thing is that I received a letter from Dolly Parton about the song.

Charlie: Tell us about a typical radio tour for you
.
Stephanie: Some days it is 5am- 1am. There may be 3 different stations we meet in a single day. You walk into a room full of strangers. It is sometimes for one person or a bigger group. You have to chase the momentum and grab onto it.

Charlie: What is the funniest thing that has happened to you lately?

Stephanie: Stanley is my horse. He was in my video for “If I was a Cowboy.” He thinks everything is a treat, especially my hair.

Charlie: What is your favorite current song out now by another artist?

Stephanie: Ashley McBryde's “Girl Going Nowhere”

Charlie: Your fan base, A Flock of Quayle, absolutely loves you. What would you say to them right now?

Stephanie: I am immeasurably grateful every single time I get to see them. Whether that is through social media or at a show. They take my breath away. It is great to see the friendships that happened because of the group of people that came together for me.

Charlie: What is your definition of country music?

Stephanie: Stories set to three cords and a truth.

REVIVER RELEASES POWERFUL TENILLE ARTS SINGLE

“Call You Names” Ships Today, April 11, 2019

Hot on the heels of topping the Radio Disney Country Top 50 Chart with her “I Hate This” single, Reviver Records today released “Call You Names,” an incredibly personal song from Tenille Arts. Written by Tenille and James T. Slater (“High Cost of Living,” “In My Daughter’s Eyes,” “Unstoppable”) and produced by Alex Kline, the new single has special meaning for Tenille.

“I wrote ‘Call You Names’ about my mom and our relationship,” said Tenille. “It’s an apology for all of those teenage years. When we are at that age, we think we know everything and call our parents mean names. Then we grow up and realize how amazing they are, and the names we call change into beautiful names.”

Tenille shot a music video in Los Angeles for the new single last week before traveling to Las Vegas to perform a rousing set at Stoney’s Rockin' Country as part of the ACM Lifting Lives events leading up to Sunday’s ACM Awards. The video will begin airing later this month.

After a few days in Nashville, Tenille heads to her home province this weekend where she is nominated in six categories at the 30th Annual Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards. She took home four awards last year, and she received nods this year for “Female Artist of the Year,” “Interactive Artist of the Year,” “Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year” and “Single of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year” for her Canadian single “Mad Crazy Love.” She is also nominated in the “Video of the Year” category for U.S. single “I Hate This.” Voting for the “Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year” is currently open here. The Awards will be presented in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 14, 2019.

Born and raised in the small prairie town of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Tenille Arts picked up the guitar and penned her first song at the age of 13 and has been performing across the US and Canada ever since. She made her first appearance on The Bachelor in January 2018 singing her original song “Moment of Weakness.” The performance resulted in a record deal with powerhouse indie label Reviver Records.
Tenille has released an EP and a full-length album, and her music has tallied over eight million streams. Noted music critic Tom Roland was so moved by her music that he has penned two full-page features in the Billboard Country Update. Music Row Magazine critic Robert K. Oermann called Tenille "Promising in the extreme." Streaming giant Pandora named her one of their new artists to watch, and CMT included her in their “Ten Must-See Indies You Need to Know,” a video discovery program that spotlights rising independent artists and established artists from independent labels. Rolling Stone named Tenille one of their “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know,” calling her “An edgy, Fearless-era Taylor Swift with crystalline vocals; ideal for hopeless romantics who are fire signs,” and PopCulture.com named her one of their "Country Artists to Watch in 2018."

Millions of viewers caught Tenille performing “I Hate This” on ABC’s top-rated The Bachelor in January. The song hit #1 on both the U.S. and Canadian iTunes Country Charts and #9 U.S. iTunes all-genre following the appearance.

RACHEL WAMMACK APPRECIATES "ENOUGH" WITH BRIGHT, NEW SINGLE TODAY

The "2019 Artist to Watch" Taps Into What Matters Most With New Song Available Now Through All Digital Partners and Country Radio on Monday

Today, RCA Records Nashville’s Rachel Wammack introduces her shimmering new single “Enough.” As “a much needed female voice on country radio” (Sounds Like Nashville), Wammack co-wrote the celebratory track with Laura Veltz and Sam Ellis, mixing her personal and artistic growth alongside the “empowered posture” (NPR) with which she first caught the attention of fans and critics. Fans can download Wammack’s new single “Enough” HERE ahead of it shipping to country radio on Monday.

"In a world where we get tangled in a web of social media comparisons, materialistic goals, and fame-driven mindsets, I wanted to take a step back and capture what is really important to me,” said Wammack. "That’s my family, that’s my brand new fiancé Noah -- it's the people who fill our cup and encourage us in the moments when we need it the most. Everything else in this life – the good and the bad – is just extra. Sometimes we give those feelings more power than they should have to rule our emotions and this song is a reminder of that for all of us.”

After writing her autobiographical debut single “Damage” over two years ago, Wammack continues to evolve, crafting introspective, relatable lyrics through “Enough.” As the single reflects a new chapter for Wammack, who recently became engaged to her long-time boyfriend Noah Purcell, she continues to steadily forge her own path in the genre by showcasing "contemporary country in ways that should prove amenable to radio" (Entertainment Weekly).

The 24-year-old Muscle Shoals native has a "deep-rooted, classic sound" (Wide Open Country) influenced heavily by the rich music history from her hometown. Her songs showcase a "powerful, raw, honest collection" (All Access), which has earned her recognition as the only artist in the genre selected for Entertainment Weekly’s “2019 Artists to Watch” list. Wammack also made Rolling Stone’s “10 Best County EPs of 2018, Amazon, and NPR’s “Best Music of 2018” list, while earning additional “2019 Artist to Watch” acclaim from multiple outlets including AOL, Pandora, Music Row, Pop Culture, Sounds Like Nashville, and more. Pegged as CMT’s “Next Women of Country” as well as Bobby Bones "Class of 2019,” Wammack shares "an undeniable air of confidence and sincerity when she performs” (Taste of Country) that she will take that on the road this year at multiple festivals throughout the country including Tortuga Music Festival, Stagecoach, Country LakeShake, and more. SONG SUFFRAGETTES CELEBRATES 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF “TIME’S UP” WITH “THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG”

One year ago today, the all-female, singer-songwriter collective Song Suffragettes released the original song and music video for “Time’s Up”, a musical nod to the female empowerment movement that began in January of 2018. The song went on to receive major media coverage, critical accolades and ultimately raised $10,000 for the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund through single sales and streaming. In celebration of this anniversary, Song Suffragettes just released “'Time’s Up’ – The Story Behind The Song” via their YouTube page which has amassed over 2.6 million views to date.

Written by Kalie Shorr and Lacy Green, the song features the voices of 23 Song Suffragettes and pointedly addresses gender inequality and sexual misconduct against women with sharp lyrics like “we aren’t waiting anymore for the moon to turn the tides”. The accompanying music video features the following Song Suffragettes (women listed in order of appearance in the song): Kalie Shorr, Tasji Bachman, Chloe Gilligan, Savannah Keyes, Mignon, Gracie Schram, Tiera, Jenna Paulette, Emma White, Jordyn Mallory, Emma Lynn White, Regan Stewart, Kim Paige, Jenna McDaniel, Madison Kozak, Jenny Ray, Tenille Arts, Tristan McIntosh, Tia Scola, Alexis Gomez, Candi Carpenter and Trannie Stevens.

After the song and video were released, the intense media coverage included the Associated Press, USA Today, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Voice of America, U.S. News & World Report, Billboard, Rolling Stone, CMT.com, TasteOfCountry.com, SoundsLikeNashville.com and Grammy.com. Most recently, the song was one of sixteen songs featured on TuneIn’s Country Roads “Fab Females of 2018” radio special. TheShotgunSeat.com named the song one of the Top 20 Singles of 2018 calling it “arguably the most important song released in 2018.”

Song Suffragettes remains at the forefront of the disparity and discrimination debate surrounding females in the country music genre. ELLE Magazine prominently featured Song Suffragettes in their November 2018 issue with a story titled “The Women of Nashville's Music Scene Are Calling Time’s Up.” In December, National Public Radio (NPR) touted Song Suffragettes nationally in a Morning Edition piece called “Female Country Music Singers In Nashville Navigate Gender Bias To Be Heard.”

#TOURINGNEWS - KENNY CHESNEY CHOOSES EMERGING FEMALE ARTIST CAROLINE JONES FOR SONGS FOR THE SAINTS TOUR

For Kenny Chesney, the Songs for the Saints 2019 Tour is about going to the people, leaning in and creating music in a more intimate realm than his massive 1.3 million fan, 19-stadium summer tours contain. With a focus on arenas half the size he normally plays, it offers the songwriter from East Tennessee the opportunity to introduce an emerging country artist who’s done it outside the lines to No Shoes Nation.

“I met Caroline at the ‘Trying To Reason’ Hurricane Relief Benefit that Jimmy Buffett did last year, and she struck me as being so pure in her approach to the business and so pure in her intention as a songwriter,” Chesney says of his tourmate. “I wanted to help someone willing to work outside the system, to give them the opportunity to be heard and seen. Caroline is so fresh, so filled with life and so consumed by her music, she seemed like the perfect person because of everything No Shoes Nation is about.”

Wall Street Journal took notice this summer, writing “following her own impulses, [Jones is] taking an unconventional route to the country-music” of her ability to connect. Both Billboard and Rolling Stone put the Florida-based singer/songwriter on their respective “15 Country Artists to Watch” and “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know” lists. Bare Feet, her latest album, debuted at No. 15 on the iTunes Chart without the major label press.

An accomplished and tenacious multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar and piano, Jones learned mandolin, banjo, harmonica and Dobro slide guitar by practicing and watching YouTube videos. Jones, who largely plays all the instruments on her projects, has a fresh take on modern country; working in collaboration with noted producer Ric Wake, who’s produced Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Jennifer Lopez, Jones’ kind of country has already attracted notice from Zac Brown, who’s taken her on tour, and Buffett, who signed her to Mailboat Records.

“Kenny has shown genuine kindness and support to me and my vision for myself as an artist,” says Jones of her addition to the Songs for the Saints 2019 Tour.  “He is a songwriter, and a person of integrity and philanthropy, in addition to being one of the greatest live entertainers out there. I am really honored to be a part of his tour and be introduced to No Shoes Nation.”

“Our tours have always been about bringing different kinds of music to No Shoes Nation,” Chesney says. “We’ve taken Grace Potter out; Old Dominion who’s gone on to do great things; Drummie Zeb from the Wailers came out and played with us; Uncle Kracker for a couple summers. It’s about mixing things up, giving people all kinds of music. And this year with David Lee Murphy and Caroline Jones, we’ve got both ends of the spectrum, which I know No Shoes Nation is going to love.”

Tickets for the Songs for the Saints 2019 Tour go on-sale Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. local. Blue Chair Bay Rum returns as the presenting sponsor for Kenny Chesney’s tour.

KELLEIGH BANNEN BREAKS BIG ON SIRIUSXM

First Artist to have THREE Songs Simultaneously Featured as a Highway Find:
"John Who," "Happy Birthday" and "The Joneses"

Kelleigh Bannen’s news announcing a simultaneous three-song SiriusXM’s The Highway Finds music premiere did not go out in advance of her appearance yesterday on the Storme Warren Show as the Nashville native couldn’t believe it was all really happening.

“I guess part of me didn’t want to jinx it?,” says the female powerhouse AXS calls “Nashville’s most underrated singer-songwriter.” “When you’ve been at it for over a decade like I have been, it’s almost unheard of to get this kind of support as an unsigned female in Country… three songs and this much airplay out of the gate? It’s powerful.

"The pressure was really off when we wrote and recorded these songs,” Bannen reflects of her three singles, “John Who,” The Joneses” and “Happy Birthday” that are simultaneously spinning on the mainstream country channel. She continues, “After I was dropped from my major label deal, a fearlessness set in as I really didn’t have anything else to lose.”

SiriusXM’s The Highway Finds program was developed as a tool for not only new music discovery but also as a platform to champion and, in turn, help break new artists through early airplay on a national level.

"Going through Kelleigh's new music, it became clear almost immediately that picking a 'first single' was going to be really tough...so we decided since all of the music is this great, why not just go with all three songs? So that's exactly what we did" adds J.R. Schumann, Senior Director of Programming for SiriusXM.

OLIVIA LANE HOSTS THE SECOND ANNUAL “DIVA JAM” ON JUNE 13 BRINGING TOGETHER MUSIC CITY’S TOP EMERGING FEMALE VOCALISTS

Big Spark Music Group’s Firecracker Songstress'
“You Part 2” Was Last Week’s Most Added Single By A Female

Olivia poses with additional “Diva Jam” performers (L-R): SaraBeth, Mary Sarah, Olivia Lane,
Rae Solomon and Annie Bosko

NASHVILLE, TN (June 17, 2015) – Saturday afternoon (6/13) was a momentous occasion for Olivia Lane who hosted the second annual “Diva Jam” at The Listening Room Cafe in Nashville, TN. The three-hour event, with a wall-to-wall audience, featured performances by Nashville’s top emerging female artists including: Olivia Lane, Annie Bosko, April Kry, Hannah Blaylock, Mary Sarah, Minnie Murphy, Rae Solomon, Ruthie Collins, Sandra Lynn and SaraBeth.

“I started this event last year as a way to really showcase some of the incredibly talented females in Country music,” said Olivia. “It was so popular last year that we brought it back again this year. I couldn't wait to bring all these beautiful voices together for a second year."

Fittingly, Olivia’s song “You Part 2” was the most-added single by a female at Country radio last week (6/8). She co-wrote the feisty, female-empowerment break-up song with producer/musician/songwriter Ilya Toshinskiy and Danny Myrick (Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw). Recently, the newcomer was selected as one of only five emerging Country acts for the Top 25 Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star artists and she released the sassy, fun lyric video for “You Part 2.”

Previously opening for Wynonna Judd, Frankie Ballard and Randy Houser, this summer the songstress can be seen performing throughout the country including dates with Easton Corbin and RaeLynn. In the fall, Olivia joins Trace Adkins, Neal McCoy, Joe Nichols, Charlie Worsham and many others for the weeklong “Country Cruising” voyage departing from Miami, FL, on October 23.

The talented singer is working on new music with producer/musician Ilya Toshinskiy, and is writing with some of Nashville’s top tunesmiths including Jim Beavers (Dierks Bentley, “Sideways” and Luke Bryan, “Drink A Beer”) Catt Gravitt (Jake Owen, “Alone With You” and Jana Kramer, “Why Ya Wanna”) and Danny Myrick (Jason Aldean, “She’s Country” and Tim McGraw, “Truck Yeah”). Since releasing her debut single “Steal Me Away,” Olivia has garnered national attention and was named in Country Weekly’s 2015’s Who’s New feature. The fresh-faced newcomer made the move to Nashville, TN, over a year ago to pursue music, eagerly following in the footsteps of her mother who was a Country singer. Ever since she can remember, the 23-year-old has been immersed in the craft and tradition of Country music and knew that Music City was where she would land after graduating from USC with a focus in music, songwriting and acting.
